A multi-strategy hybrid whale optimization algorithm(MSHWOA)for complex constrained optimization problems is proposed to overcome the drawbacks of easily trapping into local optimum,slow convergence speed and low opti...A multi-strategy hybrid whale optimization algorithm(MSHWOA)for complex constrained optimization problems is proposed to overcome the drawbacks of easily trapping into local optimum,slow convergence speed and low optimization precision.Firstly,the population is initialized by introducing the theory of good point set,which increases the randomness and diversity of the population and lays the foundation for the global optimization of the algorithm.Then,a novel linearly update equation of convergence factor is designed to coordinate the abilities of exploration and exploitation.At the same time,the global exploration and local exploitation capabilities are improved through the siege mechanism of Harris Hawks optimization algorithm.Finally,the simulation experiments are conducted on the 6 benchmark functions and Wilcoxon rank sum test to evaluate the optimization performance of the improved algorithm.The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has more significant improvement in optimization accuracy,convergence speed and robustness than the comparison algorithm.展开更多

Second, for each SNCOP, inspired by the idea of multiobjective optimization, it is transformed into a static bi-objective optimization problem. As a result, the original DNCOP is approximately transformed into several static bi-objective optimization problems. Third, a new multiobjective evolutionary algorithm is proposed based on a new selection operator and an improved nonuniformity mutation operator. The estimates for the derivatives of the multiplier mapping and the solution mapping of the proposed algorithm are discussed via the technique of the singular value decomposition of matrix. Based on the estimates, the local convergence results and the rate of convergence of the algorithm are presented when the penalty parameter is less than a threshold under a set of suitable conditions on problem functions. Furthermore, the condition number of the Hessian of the nonlinear Lagrange function with respect to the decision variables is analyzed, which is closely related to efficiency of the algorithm. There are three common types of predictability problems in weather and climate, which each involve different constrained nonlinear optimization problems: the lower bound of maximum predictable time, the upper bound o...There are three common types of predictability problems in weather and climate, which each involve different constrained nonlinear optimization problems: the lower bound of maximum predictable time, the upper bound of maximum prediction error, and the lower bound of maximum allowable initial error and parameter error. Highly effcient algorithms have been developed to solve the second optimization problem. And this optimization problem can be used in realistic models for weather and climate to study the upper bound of the maximum prediction error. Although a filtering strategy has been adopted to solve the other two problems, direct solutions are very time-consuming even for a very simple model, which therefore limits the applicability of these two predictability problems in realistic models. In this paper, a new strategy is designed to solve these problems, involving the use of the existing highly effcient algorithms for the second predictability problem in particular. Furthermore, a series of comparisons between the older filtering strategy and the new method are performed. It is demonstrated that the new strategy not only outputs the same results as the old one, but is also more computationally effcient. This would suggest that it is possible to study the predictability problems associated with these two nonlinear optimization problems in realistic forecast models of weather or climate.展开更多

We introduced the method for calculation of crude blended properties firstly, and then created a crude oil selection and blending optimization model based on the data of crude oil property. The model is a mixed-integer nonlinear programming(MINLP) with constraints, and the target is to maximize the similarity between the blended crude oil and the objective crude oil. Furthermore, the model takes into account the selection of crude oils and their blending ratios simultaneously, and transforms the problem of looking for similar crude oil into the crude oil selection and blending optimization problem. We applied the Improved Cuckoo Search(ICS) algorithm to solving the model. Through the simulations, ICS was compared with the genetic algorithm, the particle swarm optimization algorithm and the CPLEX solver. The results show that ICS has very good optimization efficiency. The blending solution can provide a reference for refineries to find the similar crude oil. And the method proposed can also give some references to selection and blending optimization of other materials.展开更多

Compared with traditional constraint handling methods, the treatment of th...A variant constrained genetic algorithm (VCGA) for effective tracking of conditional nonlinear optimal perturbations (CNOPs) is presented. Compared with traditional constraint handling methods, the treatment of the constraint condition in VCGA is relatively easy to implement. Moreover, it does not require adjustments to indefinite pararneters. Using a hybrid crossover operator and the newly developed multi-ply mutation operator, VCGA improves the performance of GAs. To demonstrate the capability of VCGA to catch CNOPS in non-smooth cases, a partial differential equation, which has "on off" switches in its forcing term, is employed as the nonlinear model. To search global CNOPs of the nonlinear model, numerical experiments using VCGA, the traditional gradient descent algorithm based on the adjoint method (ADJ), and a GA using tournament selection operation and the niching technique (GA-DEB) were performed. The results with various initial reference states showed that, in smooth cases, all three optimization methods are able to catch global CNOPs. Nevertheless, in non-smooth situations, a large proportion of CNOPs captured by the ADJ are local. Compared with ADJ, the performance of GA-DEB shows considerable improvement, but it is far below VCGA. Further, the impacts of population sizes on both VCGA and GA-DEB were investigated. The results were used to estimate the computation time of ~CGA and GA-DEB in obtaining CNOPs. The computational costs for VCGA, GA-DEB and ADJ to catch CNOPs of the nonlinear model are also compared.展开更多

The Lagrange relaxation method and the pruning strategy are used to solve the model. Secondly, this paper presents optimization-based planning algorithms for efficiently allocating platforms to multiple tasks. To achieve the balance of the resource assignments among tasks, the m-best assignment algorithm and the pair-wise exchange(PWE)method are used to maximize multiple tasks completion qualities.Finally, a series of experiments are designed to verify the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithms.展开更多

To address this problem, the capture of CNOP, when the "on-off" switches are included in models, is treated as non-smooth optimization in this study, and the genetic algorithm (GA) is introduced. After detailed algorithm procedures are formulated using an idealized model with parameterization "on-off" switches in the forcing term, the impacts of "on-off" switches on the capture of CNOP are analyzed, and three numerical experiments are conducted to check the effectiveness of GA in capturing CNOP and to analyze the impacts of different initial populations on the optimization result. The result shows that GA is competent for the capture of CNOP in the context of the idealized model with parameterization ‘on-off’ switches in this study. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of GA in capturing CNOP are analyzed in detail.展开更多

Motion cueing algorithms(MCA)are often applied in the motion simulators.In this paper,a nonlinear optimal MCA,taking into account translational and rotational motions of a simulator within its physical limitation,is d...Motion cueing algorithms(MCA)are often applied in the motion simulators.In this paper,a nonlinear optimal MCA,taking into account translational and rotational motions of a simulator within its physical limitation,is designed for the motion platform aiming to minimize human’s perception error in order to provide a high degree of fidelity.Indeed,the movement sensation center of most MCA is placed at the center of the upper platform,which may cause a certain error.Pilot’s station should be paid full attention to in the MCA.Apart from this,the scaling and limiting module plays an important role in optimizing the motion platform workspace and reducing false cues during motion reproduction.It should be used along within the washout filter to decrease the amplitude of the translational and rotational motion signals uniformly across all frequencies through the MCA.A nonlinear scaling method is designed to accurately duplicate motions with high realistic behavior and use the platform more efficiently without violating its physical limitations.The simulation experiment is verified in the longitudinal/pitch direction for motion simulator.The result implies that the proposed method can not only overcome the problem of the workspace limitations in the simulator motion reproduction and improve the realism of movement sensation,but also reduce the false cues to improve dynamic fidelity during the motion simulation process.展开更多
In regions characterized with great mining depths,complex topography,and intense geological activities,solely relying on lateral pressure coefficients or linear boundary conditions for predicting the in situ stress fi...In regions characterized with great mining depths,complex topography,and intense geological activities,solely relying on lateral pressure coefficients or linear boundary conditions for predicting the in situ stress field of rock bodies can induce substantial deviations and limitations.This study focuses on a typical karst area in Southwest Guizhou,China as its research background.It employs a hybrid approach integrating machine learning,numerical simulations,and field experiments to develop an optimization algorithm for nonlinear prediction of the complex three-dimensional(3D)in situ stress fields.Through collecting and fitting analysis of in situ stress measurement data from the karst region,the distributions of in situ stresses with depth were identified with nonlinear boundary conditions.A prediction model for in situ stress was then established based on artificial neural network(ANN)and genetic algorithm(GA)approach,validated in the typical karst landscape mine,Jinfeng Gold Mine.The results demonstrate that the model's predictions align well with actual measurements,showcasing consistency and regularity.Specifically,the error between the predicted and actual values of the maximum horizontal principal stress was the smallest,with an absolute error 0.01-3 MPa and a relative error of 0.04-15.31%.This model accurately and effectively predicts in situ stresses in complex geological areas.展开更多

In the optimal control problem of nonlinear dynamical system,the Hamiltonian formulation is useful and powerful to solve an optimal control force.However,the resulting Euler-Lagrange equations are not easy to solve,wh...In the optimal control problem of nonlinear dynamical system,the Hamiltonian formulation is useful and powerful to solve an optimal control force.However,the resulting Euler-Lagrange equations are not easy to solve,when the performance index is complicated,because one may encounter a two-point boundary value problem of nonlinear differential algebraic equations.To be a numerical method,it is hard to exactly preserve all the specified conditions,which might deteriorate the accuracy of numerical solution.With this in mind,we develop a novel algorithm to find the solution of the optimal control problem of nonlinear Duffing oscillator,which can exactly satisfy all the required conditions for the minimality of the performance index.A new idea of shape functions method(SFM)is introduced,from which we can transform the optimal control problems to the initial value problems for the new variables,whose initial values are given arbitrarily,and meanwhile the terminal values are determined iteratively.Numerical examples confirm the high-performance of the iterative algorithms based on the SFM,which are convergence fast,and also provide very accurate solutions.The new algorithm is robust,even large noise is imposed on the input data.展开更多

This would suggest that it is possible to study the predictability problems associated with these two nonlinear optimization problems in realistic forecast models of weather or climate.

文摘Refineries often need to find similar crude oil to replace the scarce crude oil for stabilizing the feedstock property. We introduced the method for calculation of crude blended properties firstly, and then created a crude oil selection and blending optimization model based on the data of crude oil property. The model is a mixed-integer nonlinear programming(MINLP) with constraints, and the target is to maximize the similarity between the blended crude oil and the objective crude oil. Furthermore, the model takes into account the selection of crude oils and their blending ratios simultaneously, and transforms the problem of looking for similar crude oil into the crude oil selection and blending optimization problem. We applied the Improved Cuckoo Search(ICS) algorithm to solving the model. Through the simulations, ICS was compared with the genetic algorithm, the particle swarm optimization algorithm and the CPLEX solver. The results show that ICS has very good optimization efficiency. The blending solution can provide a reference for refineries to find the similar crude oil. And the method proposed can also give some references to selection and blending optimization of other materials.

文摘A variant constrained genetic algorithm (VCGA) for effective tracking of conditional nonlinear optimal perturbations (CNOPs) is presented. Compared with traditional constraint handling methods, the treatment of the constraint condition in VCGA is relatively easy to implement. Moreover, it does not require adjustments to indefinite pararneters. Using a hybrid crossover operator and the newly developed multi-ply mutation operator, VCGA improves the performance of GAs. To demonstrate the capability of VCGA to catch CNOPS in non-smooth cases, a partial differential equation, which has "on off" switches in its forcing term, is employed as the nonlinear model. To search global CNOPs of the nonlinear model, numerical experiments using VCGA, the traditional gradient descent algorithm based on the adjoint method (ADJ), and a GA using tournament selection operation and the niching technique (GA-DEB) were performed. The results with various initial reference states showed that, in smooth cases, all three optimization methods are able to catch global CNOPs. Nevertheless, in non-smooth situations, a large proportion of CNOPs captured by the ADJ are local. Compared with ADJ, the performance of GA-DEB shows considerable improvement, but it is far below VCGA. Further, the impacts of population sizes on both VCGA and GA-DEB were investigated. The results were used to estimate the computation time of ~CGA and GA-DEB in obtaining CNOPs. The computational costs for VCGA, GA-DEB and ADJ to catch CNOPs of the nonlinear model are also compared.

文摘Platform planning is one of the important problems in the command and control(C2) field. Hereto, we analyze the platform planning problem and present nonlinear optimal model aiming at maximizing the task completion qualities. Firstly, we take into account the relation among tasks and build the single task nonlinear optimal model with a set of platform constraints. The Lagrange relaxation method and the pruning strategy are used to solve the model. Secondly, this paper presents optimization-based planning algorithms for efficiently allocating platforms to multiple tasks. To achieve the balance of the resource assignments among tasks, the m-best assignment algorithm and the pair-wise exchange(PWE)method are used to maximize multiple tasks completion qualities.Finally, a series of experiments are designed to verify the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithms.

文摘Motion cueing algorithm plays a key role in simulator motion reproduction and improves the realism of movement sensation by combining with the human vestibular system.It is well established that scaling&limiting should be used to decrease the amplitude of the acceleration and angular velocity signals for making full use of limited workspace of motion platform.A novel nonlinear scaling method based on a third-order polynomial and back propagation(BP)neural networks for the motion cueing algorithm is proposed in this paper.The third-order polynomial method is applied to the low amplitude segment of the input signal to minimize the trigger delay of the sensation acceleration;in the high amplitude segment,the BP neural network is used to adaptively adjust the scaling factor of the input signal,to avoid washout displacement and angular displacement beyond the boundary of the workspace.The simulation experiment is verified in the longitudinal/pitch direction for flight simulator,and the result implies that the proposed method not only can overcome the problem of constant scaling parameter and improve motion platform workspace utilization,but also reduce the false cues during the motion simulation process.
文摘Environmental micro-vibration is one of the key factors impacting the running of electronic workshop.Low frequency micro-vibration has a significant influence on the normal operation of high precision machining and testing equipment,and even causes irreversible damage to the equipment.Micro-vibration testing and response analysis are important to guide the vibration isolation design and ensure the stable operation of various precision equipment in the workshop.Parameters of Davidenkov model are fitted based on whale swarm optimization algorithm,and its applicability is verified.At the same time,taking the testing project of an electronic workshop raw land as an example,the micro-vibration response is analyzed.The results show that the nonlinear constitutive model constructed by whale optimization algorithm can simulate the dynamic nonlinear behavior of soil under the action of micro-vibration better.Compared with the traditional equivalent linearization method,the nonlinear constitutive model based on the whale optimization algorithm has a smaller acceleration response value.It can effectively suppress the“virtual resonance effect”produced by the equivalent linearization method.

文摘In the typhoon adaptive observation based on conditional nonlinear optimal perturbation (CNOP), the ‘on-off’ switch caused by moist physical parameterization in prediction models prevents the conventional adjoint method from providing correct gradient during the optimization process. To address this problem, the capture of CNOP, when the "on-off" switches are included in models, is treated as non-smooth optimization in this study, and the genetic algorithm (GA) is introduced. After detailed algorithm procedures are formulated using an idealized model with parameterization "on-off" switches in the forcing term, the impacts of "on-off" switches on the capture of CNOP are analyzed, and three numerical experiments are conducted to check the effectiveness of GA in capturing CNOP and to analyze the impacts of different initial populations on the optimization result. The result shows that GA is competent for the capture of CNOP in the context of the idealized model with parameterization ‘on-off’ switches in this study. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of GA in capturing CNOP are analyzed in detail.

文摘Based on the improved particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm,an optimization approach for the cargo oil tank design(COTD) is presented in this paper.The purpose is to design an optimal overall dimension of the cargo oil tank(COT) under various kinds of constraints in the preliminary design stage.A non-linear programming model is built to simulate the optimization design,in which the requirements and rules for COTD are used as the constraints.Considering the distance between the inner shell and hull,a fuzzy constraint is used to express the feasibility degree of the double-hull configuration.In terms of the characteristic of COTD,the PSO algorithm is improved to solve this problem.A bivariate extremum strategy is presented to deal with the fuzzy constraint,by which the maximum and minimum cargo capacities are obtained simultaneously.Finally,the simulation demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach.

文摘Motion cueing algorithms(MCA)are often applied in the motion simulators.In this paper,a nonlinear optimal MCA,taking into account translational and rotational motions of a simulator within its physical limitation,is designed for the motion platform aiming to minimize human’s perception error in order to provide a high degree of fidelity.Indeed,the movement sensation center of most MCA is placed at the center of the upper platform,which may cause a certain error.Pilot’s station should be paid full attention to in the MCA.Apart from this,the scaling and limiting module plays an important role in optimizing the motion platform workspace and reducing false cues during motion reproduction.It should be used along within the washout filter to decrease the amplitude of the translational and rotational motion signals uniformly across all frequencies through the MCA.A nonlinear scaling method is designed to accurately duplicate motions with high realistic behavior and use the platform more efficiently without violating its physical limitations.The simulation experiment is verified in the longitudinal/pitch direction for motion simulator.The result implies that the proposed method can not only overcome the problem of the workspace limitations in the simulator motion reproduction and improve the realism of movement sensation,but also reduce the false cues to improve dynamic fidelity during the motion simulation process.

文摘In regions characterized with great mining depths,complex topography,and intense geological activities,solely relying on lateral pressure coefficients or linear boundary conditions for predicting the in situ stress field of rock bodies can induce substantial deviations and limitations.This study focuses on a typical karst area in Southwest Guizhou,China as its research background.It employs a hybrid approach integrating machine learning,numerical simulations,and field experiments to develop an optimization algorithm for nonlinear prediction of the complex three-dimensional(3D)in situ stress fields.Through collecting and fitting analysis of in situ stress measurement data from the karst region,the distributions of in situ stresses with depth were identified with nonlinear boundary conditions.A prediction model for in situ stress was then established based on artificial neural network(ANN)and genetic algorithm(GA)approach,validated in the typical karst landscape mine,Jinfeng Gold Mine.The results demonstrate that the model's predictions align well with actual measurements,showcasing consistency and regularity.Specifically,the error between the predicted and actual values of the maximum horizontal principal stress was the smallest,with an absolute error 0.01-3 MPa and a relative error of 0.04-15.31%.This model accurately and effectively predicts in situ stresses in complex geological areas.

文摘Solving the nonlinear model of an aeroengine is converted to an optimization problem, and thus some optimization search methods can be used. An approach to solving the nonlinear model of an aeroengine by use of the genetic algorithm (GA) is developed. By comparison with N R algorithm, the accuracy of the values of initial guesses is not required for GA. Especially, the approach developed can be used when no priori knowledges of the values of initial guesses are availabe, and the convergence is improved significantly. GA properly combined with N R algorithm can increase the convergence speed.

文摘An improved genetic algorithm(IGA) based on a novel selection strategy to handle nonlinear programming problems is proposed.Each individual in selection process is represented as a three-dimensional feature vector which is composed of objective function value,the degree of constraints violations and the number of constraints violations.It is easy to distinguish excellent individuals from general individuals by using an individuals' feature vector.Additionally,a local search(LS) process is incorporated into selection operation so as to find feasible solutions located in the neighboring areas of some infeasible solutions.The combination of IGA and LS should offer the advantage of both the quality of solutions and diversity of solutions.Experimental results over a set of benchmark problems demonstrate that IGA has better performance than other algorithms.

文摘Flexible chiral honeycomb cores generally exhibit nonlinear elastic properties due to large geometric deformation.The effective elastic moduli and Poisson's ratio typically vary with an increase in deformation.Here,the size and shape optimization of the chiral hexagonal honeycombs was performed to keep the Young's moduli and Poisson's ratio unchanged under large deformations.The size of the honeycomb unit cell and the position coordinates of the key points were defined simultaneously as design variables.The equivalent Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio of chiral honeycombs were calculated through geometric nonlinear analysis.The objective was to minimize the allowable tolerance between the prescribed and actual properties within the range of the target strain.A genetic algorithm was then adopted.The optimal results demonstrate that the chiral honeycombs can maintain effective elastic properties that do not vary under large deformation.These results are meaningful to morphing aircraft designs.
文摘In the optimal control problem of nonlinear dynamical system,the Hamiltonian formulation is useful and powerful to solve an optimal control force.However,the resulting Euler-Lagrange equations are not easy to solve,when the performance index is complicated,because one may encounter a two-point boundary value problem of nonlinear differential algebraic equations.To be a numerical method,it is hard to exactly preserve all the specified conditions,which might deteriorate the accuracy of numerical solution.With this in mind,we develop a novel algorithm to find the solution of the optimal control problem of nonlinear Duffing oscillator,which can exactly satisfy all the required conditions for the minimality of the performance index.A new idea of shape functions method(SFM)is introduced,from which we can transform the optimal control problems to the initial value problems for the new variables,whose initial values are given arbitrarily,and meanwhile the terminal values are determined iteratively.Numerical examples confirm the high-performance of the iterative algorithms based on the SFM,which are convergence fast,and also provide very accurate solutions.The new algorithm is robust,even large noise is imposed on the input data.
