The pH-sensitive hydrogels play a crucial role in applications such as soft robotics, drug delivery, and biomedical sensors,as they require precise control of swelling behaviors and stress distributions.Traditional experimental methods struggle to capture stress distributions due to technical limitations, while numerical approaches are often computationally intensive. This study presents a hybrid framework combining analytical modeling and machine learning(ML)to overcome these challenges. An analytical model is used to simulate transient swelling behaviors and stress distributions, and is confirmed to be viable through the comparison of the obtained simulation results with the existing experimental swelling data. The predictions from this model are used to train neural networks, including a two-step augmented architecture. The initial neural network predicts hydration values, which are then fed into a second network to predict stress distributions, effectively capturing nonlinear interdependencies. This approach achieves mean absolute errors(MAEs)as low as 0.031,with average errors of 1.9%for the radial stress and 2.55%for the hoop stress. This framework significantly enhances the predictive accuracy and reduces the computational complexity, offering actionable insights for optimizing hydrogel-based systems. 展开更多

Under the paradigm of Industry 5.0,intelligent manufacturing transcends mere efficiency enhancement by emphasizing human-machine collaboration, where human expertise plays a central role in assembly processes.Despite advancements in intelligent and digital technologies, assembly process design still heavily relies on manual knowledge reuse, and inefficiencies and inconsistent quality in process documentation are caused. To address the aforementioned issues, this paper proposes a knowledge push method of complex product assembly process design based on distillation model-based dynamically enhanced graph and Bayesian network.First,an initial knowledge graph is constructed using a BERT-BiLSTM-CRF model trained with integrated human expertise and a fine-tuned large language model. Then,a confidence-based dynamic weighted fusion strategy is employed to achieve dynamic incremental construction of the knowledge graph with low resource consumption.Subsequently,a Bayesian network model is constructed based on the relationships between assembly components, assembly features, and operations.Bayesian network reasoning is used to push assembly process knowledge under different design requirements. Finally, the feasibility of the Bayesian network construction method and the effectiveness of Bayesian network reasoning are verified through a specific example, significantly improving the utilization of assembly process knowledge and the efficiency of assembly process design. 展开更多

This paper investigates the problem of the model validation in identifying discrete-time-nonlinear dynamic systems by using neural networks with a single hidden layer.Based on the estimation theory,a synthetic error-index(SEI)criterion for the neural network models has been developed.By using the powerful training algorithm of recursive prediction error (RPE),two simulated non-linear systems are studied, and the results show that the synthetic error-index criterion can be used to verify the dynamic neural network models.Furthermore, the proposed technique is much simple in calculation than that of the effective correlation tests. Finally, some problems required by further study are discussed. 展开更多

A fundamental aspect of society is the exchange and discussion of opinions between individuals, occurring in situations as varied as company boardrooms, elementary school classrooms and online social media. After a very brief introduction to the established results of the most fundamental opinion dynamics models, which seek to mathematically capture observed social phenomena, a brief discussion follows on several recent themes pursued by the authors building on the fundamental ideas. In the first theme, we study the way an individual′s self-confidence can develop through contributing to discussions on a sequence of topics, reaching a consensus in each case, where the consensus value to some degree reflects the contribution of that individual to the conclusion. During this process, the individuals in the network and the way they interact can change. The second theme introduces a novel discrete-time model of opinion dynamics to study how discrepancies between an individual′s expressed and private opinions can arise due to stubbornness and a pressure to conform to a social norm. It is also shown that a few extremists can create "pluralistic ignorance", where people believe there is majority support for a position but in fact the position is privately rejected by the majority. Last, we consider a group of individuals discussing a collection of logically related topics. In particular, we identify that for topics whose logical interdependencies take on a cascade structure, disagreement in opinions can occur if individuals have competing and/or heterogeneous views on how the topics are related, i.e., the logical interdependence structure varies between individuals. 展开更多

Recent advances in statistical physics highlight the significant potential of machine learning for phase transition recognition. This study introduces a deep learning framework based on graph neural network to investigate non-equilibrium phase transitions, specifically focusing on the directed percolation process.By converting lattices with varying dimensions and connectivity schemes into graph structures and embedding the temporal evolution of the percolation process into node features, our approach enables unified analysis across diverse systems. The framework utilizes a multi-layer graph attention mechanism combined with global pooling to autonomously extract critical features from local dynamics to global phase transition signatures. The model successfully predicts percolation thresholds without relying on lattice geometry, demonstrating its robustness and versatility. Our approach not only offers new insights into phase transition studies but also provides a powerful tool for analyzing complex dynamical systems across various domains. 展开更多

In order to solve the problem of trajectory tracking for a class of novel serial-parallel hybrid humanoid arm(HHA), which has parameters uncertainty, frictions, disturbance, abrasion and pulse forces derived from motors, a multistep dynamics modeling strategy is proposed and a robust controller based on neural network(NN)-adaptive algorithm is designed. At the first step of dynamics modeling, the dynamics model of the reduced HHA is established by Lagrange method. At the second step of dynamics modeling, the parameter uncertain part resulting mainly from the idealization of the HHA is learned by adaptive algorithm. In the trajectory tracking controller, the radial basis function(RBF) NN, whose optimal weights are learned online by adaptive algorithm, is used to learn the upper limit function of the total uncertainties including frictions, disturbances, abrasion and pulse forces. To a great extent, the conservatism of this robust trajectory tracking controller is reduced, and by this controller the HHA can impersonate mostly human actions. The proof and simulation results testify the validity of the adaptive strategy for parameter learning and the neural network-adaptive strategy for the trajectory tracking control. 展开更多

In space operation, flexible manipulators and gripper mechanisms have been widely used because of light weight and flexibility. However, the vibration caused by slender structures in manipulators and the parameter perturbation caused by the uncertainty derived from grasping mass variation cannot be ignored. The existence of vibration and parameter perturbation makes the rotation control of flexible manipulators difficult, which seriously affects the operation accuracy of manipulators. What’s more, the complex dynamic coupling brings great challenges to the dynamics modeling and vibration analysis. To solve this problem, this paper takes the space flexible manipulator with an underactuated hand(SFMUH)as the research object. The dynamics model considering flexibility, multiple nonlinear elements and disturbance torque is established by the assumed modal method(AMM)and Hamilton’s principle.A dynamic modeling simplification method is proposed by analyzing the nonlinear terms. What’s more,a sliding mode control(SMC)method combined with the radial basis function(RBF)neural network compensation is proposed.Besides, the control law is designed using a saturation function in the control method to weaken the chatter phenomenon. With the help of neural networks to identify the uncertainty composition in the SFMUH,the tracking accuracy is improved. The results of ground control experiments verify the advantages of the control method for vibration suppression of the SFMUH. 展开更多

Modulating both the clock frequency and supply voltage of the network-on-chip (NoC) during runtime can reduce the power consumption and heat flux, but will lead to the increase of the latency of NoC. It is necessary to find a tradeoff between power consumption and communication latency. So we propose an analytical latency model which can show us the relationship of them. The proposed model to analyze latency is based on the M/G/1 queuing model, which is suitable for dynamic frequency scaling. The experiment results show that the accuracy of this model is more than 90%. 展开更多

The techniques for oceanographic observation have made great progress in both space-time coverage and quality, which make the observation data present some characteristics of big data. We explore the essence of global ocean dynamic via constructing a complex network with regard to sea surface temperature. The global ocean is divided into discrete regions to represent the nodes of the network. To understand the ocean dynamic behavior, we introduce the Gaussian mixture models to describe the nodes as limit-cycle oscillators. The interacting dynamical oscillators form the complex network that simulates the ocean as a stochastic system. Gaussian probability matching is suggested to measure the behavior similarity of regions. Complex network statistical characteristics of the network are analyzed in terms of degree distribution, clustering coefficient and betweenness. Experimental results show a pronounced sensitivity of network characteristics to the climatic anomaly in the oceanic circulation. Particularly, the betweenness reveals the main pathways to transfer thermal energy of El Niño–Southern oscillation. Our works provide new insights into the physical processes of ocean dynamic, as well as climate changes and ocean anomalies. 展开更多

Based on the comparison of several methods of time series predicting, this paper points out that it is necessary to use dynamic neural network in modeling of complex production process. Because self feedback and mutual feedback are adopted among nodes at the same layer in Elman network, it has stronger ability of dynamic approximation, and can describe any non linear dynamic system. After the structure and mathematical description being given, dynamic back propagation (BP) algorithm of training weights of Elman neural network is deduced. At last, the network is used to predict ash content of black amber in jigging production process. Bayesian networks (BN) have many advantages over other methods in ecological modeling, and have become an increasingly popular modeling tool. However, BN are flawed in regard to building models based on inadequate existing knowledge. To overcome this limitation, we propose a new method that links BN with structural equation modeling (SEM). In this method, SEM is used to improve the model structure for BN. This method was used to simulate coastal phytoplankton dynamics in the Bohai Bay. We demonstrate that this hybrid approach minimizes the need for expert elicitation, generates more reasonable structures for BN models, and increases the BN model's accuracy and reliability. These results suggest that the inclusion of SEM for testing and verifying the theoretical structure during the initial construction stage improves the effectiveness of BN models, especially for complex eco-environment systems. The results also demonstrate that in the Bohai Bay, while phytoplankton biomass has the greatest influence on phytoplankton dynamics, the impact of nutrients on phytoplankton dynamics is larger than the influence of the physical environment in summer. Furthermore, although the Redfield ratio indicates that phosphorus should be the primary nutrient limiting factor, our results show that silicate plays the most important role in regulating phytoplankton dynamics in the Bohai Bay. 展开更多

As the base of the research work on the weld shape control during pulsed gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) with wire filler, this paper addressed the modeling of the dynamic welding process. Topside length Lt, maximum width Wt and half-length ratio Rh1 were selected to depict topside weld pool shape, and were measured on-line by vision sensing. A dynamic neural network model was constructed to predict the usually unmeasured backside width and topside height of the weld through topside shape parameters and welding parameters. The inputs of the model were the welding parameters (peak current, pulse duty ratio, welding speed, filler rate), the joint gap, the topside pool shape parameters (Lt, Wt, and Rh1), and their history values at two former pulse, a total of 24 numbers. The validating experiment results proved that the artificial neural network (ANN) model had high precision and could be used in process control. At last, with the developed dynamic model, steady and dynamic behavior was analyzed by simulation experiments, which discovered the variation rules of weld pool shape parameters under different welding parameters, and further knew well the characteristic of the welding process. 展开更多

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) is a chronic inflammatory disorder characterized by airflow obstruction and progressive damage of lung tissues. As currently more than 3 billion people use biomass fuel for cooking and heating worldwide, exposure to biomass smoke(BS) is recognized as a significant risk factor for COPD. Recent clinical data have shown that BS-COPD patients have a Th2-type inflammatory profile significantly different from that in COPD induced by cigarette smoke. As COPD is essentially proinflammatory, however, the mechanism underlying this Th2-type anti-inflammatory profile remains elusive. In this work, a network model is applied to study BS-induced inflammatory dynamics. The network model involves several positive feedback loops, activations of which are responsible for different mechanisms by which clinical phenotypes of COPD are produced. Our modeling study in this work has identified a subset of BS-COPD patients with a mixed M1-and Th2-type inflammatory profile. The model’s prediction is in good agreement with clinical experiments and our in silico knockout simulations have demonstrated several important network components that play an important role in the disease. Our modeling study provides novel insight into BS-COPD progression, offering a rationale for targeted therapy and personalized medicine for treatment of the disease in future. 展开更多

Empirical data show that most of the degree distribution of airline networks assume a double power law. In this work, firstly, we assume cities as sites, flight between two cities as an edge between two sites, and build a dynamic evolution model for airline networks by improving the BA model, in which the conception of attractiveness plays a decisive role in the course of evolution of the networks. To this end, we discuss whether the attractiveness depends on the site label s or not separately, finally we obtain analytic degree distribution. As a result, if the attractiveness of a site is independent of the degree distribution of sites, which will follow the double power law, otherwise, it will be scale-free. Moreover, degree distribution depends on the parameters of the models, and some parameters aye more sensitive than others. 展开更多

Industrial noise can be successfully mitigated with the combined use of passive and Active Noise Control (ANC) strategies. In a noisy area, a practical solution for noise attenuation may include both the use of baffles and ANC. When the operator is required to stay in movement in a delimited spatial area, conventional ANC is usually not able to adequately cancel the noise over the whole area. New control strategies need to be devised to achieve acceptable spatial coverage. A three-dimensional actuator model is proposed in this paper. Active Noise Control (ANC) usually requires a feedback noise measurement for the proper response of the loop controller. In some situations, especially where the real-time tridimensional positioning of a feedback transducer is unfeasible, the availability of a 3D precise noise level estimator is indispensable. In our previous works [1,2], using a vibrating signal of the primary source of noise as an input reference for spatial noise level prediction proved to be a very good choice. Another interesting aspect observed in those previous works was the need for a variable-structure linear model, which is equivalent to a sort of a nonlinear model, with unknown analytical equivalence until now. To overcome this in this paper we propose a model structure based on an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) as a nonlinear black-box model to capture the dynamic nonlinear behaveior of the investigated process. This can be used in a future closed loop noise cancelling strategy. We devise an ANN architecture and a corresponding training methodology to cope with the problem, and a MISO (Multi-Input Single-Output) model structure is used in the identification of the system dynamics. A metric is established to compare the obtained results with other works elsewhere. The results show that the obtained model is consistent and it adequately describes the main dynamics of the studied phenomenon, showing that the MISO approach using an ANN is appropriate for the simulation of the investigated process. A clear conclusion is reached highlighting the promising results obtained using this kind of modeling for ANC. 展开更多
