Two modeling methods of the root insert for wind turbine blade are presented,i.e.,the local mesh optimization method(LMOM)and the global modeling method(GMM).Based on the optimized mesh of the local model for the metal contact interface,LMOM is proposed to analyze the load path and stress distribution characteristics, while GMM is used to calculate and analyze the stress distribution characteristics of the resin layer established between the bushing and composite layers of root insert. To validate the GMM,a tension test is carried out.The result successfully shows that the shear strain expresses a similar strain distribution tendency with the GMM′s results. 展开更多

The concept of gait synergy provides novel human-machine interfaces and has been applied to the control of lower limb assistive devices, such as powered prostheses and exoskeletons.Specifically,on the basis of gait synergy, the assistive device can generate/predict the appropriate reference trajectories precisely for the affected or missing parts from the motions of sound parts of the patients.Optimal modeling for gait synergy methods that involves optimal combinations of features(inputs)is required to achieve synergic trajectories that improve human–machine interaction. However, previous studies lack thorough discussions on the optimal methods for synergy modeling. In addition, feature selection(FS)that is crucial for reducing data dimensionality and improving modeling quality has often been neglected in previous studies. Here,we comprehensively investigated modeling methods and FS using 4 up-to-date neural networks:sequence-to-sequence(Seq2Seq),long short-term memory(LSTM),recurrent neural network(RNN),and gated recurrent unit(GRU).We also conducted complete FS using 3 commonly used methods:random forest, information gain, and Pearson correlation. Our findings reveal that Seq2Seq(mean absolute error:0.404°and 0.596°,respectively)outperforms LSTM,RNN,and GRU for both interlimb and intralimb synergy modeling.Furthermore,FS is proven to significantly improve Seq2Seq’s modeling performance(P<0.05).FS-Seq2Seq even outperforms methods used in existing studies. Therefore,we propose FSSeq2Seq as a 2-stage strategy for gait synergy modeling in lower limb assistive devices with the aim of achieving synergic and user-adaptive trajectories that improve human-machine interactions. 展开更多

Using the 3-D sono-elasticity method and the simplified nonstructural mass method, the different dynamic modeling methods of the added water for a single-hull structure are first analyzed in this study. Then, the complete internal flow field method and the simplified nonstructural mass method of the contained water between the double hulls of a double-hull structure are investigated. Finally, based on the calculation and analysis under multiple conditions,a reasonable and simplified dynamic modeling method of added water and contained water is obtained. It is indicated that the mass of added water for a single-hull structure is closely related to the mass of total underwater displacement of the structure. With the increase in the analysis frequency, the mass of added water is characterized by first decreasing rapidly and then decreasing gradually and smoothly. The contained water between the double hulls is distributed to the pressure hull and the light shell based on the ratio of the impedances of the double hulls. The results can basically reflect the acoustic radiation characteristics of the double-hull structure. 展开更多

Accurate estimations of animal population size are pivotal for implementing management strategies properly.Recapture technique based on sounds as a specimen identifcation mark has barely been used for marine mammals. However, inferring abundance estimates from acoustic methods could enhance the accuracy and precision of population size assessments. Here,we tested the possibility of using signature whistles as individual marks for estimating the size of common bottlenose dolphin(Tursiops truncatus)populations.Data were continuously collected for 326 days in 2015–2016,by using a fxed acoustic device located in the Sicily Strait(Italy). The SIGID method was applied to identify Signature Whistles Types(SWTs)over 7,000 h of recordings.Eighty SWTs were detected as long as their stereotyped fundamental frequency contours were repeated in bouts of at least 6 renditions. The mean SWTs monthly recording rate resulted in 0.19(Standard deviation=0.16),with 20 SWTs recorded over 5 or more different encounters(until a maximum of 30 encounters). The Jolly–Seber model(with POPAN formulation)was run in Mark software to estimate the population size. The estimated population size resulted in 171 bottlenose dolphins(95%confdence interval=137–215).Even if the detection and identifcation of signature whistles required crucial precautions, and animals could be detected differently from visual techniques, the population size estimate obtained was comparable with previous results based on physical marks data. These outcomes demonstrated that signature whistles can be considered a strongly effective tool for integrating traditional mark-recapture techniques with fnely estimated dolphins’population abundances. 展开更多

Cardiac arrest(CA)is a critical condition in the field of cardiovascular medicine.Despite successful resuscitation, patients continue to have a high mortality rate, largely due to post CA syndrome(PCAS).However, the injury and pathophysiological mechanisms underlying PCAS remain unclear.Experimental animal models are valuable tools for exploring the etiology, pathogenesis, and potential interventions for CA and PCAS.Current CA animal models include electrical induction of ventricular fibrillation(VF),myocardial infarction, high potassium, asphyxia, and hemorrhagic shock.Although these models do not fully replicate the complexity of clinical CA,the mechanistic insights they provide remain highly relevant, including post-CA brain injury(PCABI),post-CA myocardial dysfunction(PAMD),systemic ischaemia/reperfusion injury(IRI),and the persistent precipitating pathology.Summarizing the methods of establishing CA models, the challenges encountered in the modeling process, and the mechanisms of PCAS can provide a foundation for developing standardized CA modeling protocols. 展开更多

Developing an accurate and efficient comprehensive water quality prediction model and its assessment method is crucial for the prevention and control of water pollution.Deep learning(DL),as one of the most promising technologies today, plays a crucial role in the effective assessment of water body health, which is essential for water resource management. This study models using both the original dataset and a dataset augmented with Generative Adversarial Networks(GAN).It integrates optimization algorithms(OA)with Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)to propose a comprehensive water quality model evaluation method aiming at identifying the optimal models for different pollutants.Specifically, after preprocessing the spectral dataset, data augmentation was conducted to obtain two datasets. Then, six new models were developed on these datasets using particle swarm optimization(PSO),genetic algorithm(GA),and simulated annealing(SA)combined with CNN to simulate and forecast the concentrations of three water pollutants:Chemical Oxygen Demand(COD),Total Nitrogen(TN),and Total Phosphorus(TP).Finally, seven model evaluation methods, including uncertainty analysis, were used to evaluate the constructed models and select the optimal models for the three pollutants. The evaluation results indicate that the GPSCNN model performed best in predicting COD and TP concentrations, while the GGACNN model excelled in TN concentration prediction.Compared to existing technologies, the proposed models and evaluation methods provide a more comprehensive and rapid approach to water body prediction and assessment, offering new insights and methods for water pollution prevention and control. 展开更多

An optical emission spectroscopy(OES)method with a non-invasive measurement capability, without inducing disturbance to the discharge, represents an effective method for material monitoring. However, when the OES method is employed to monitor the trace erosion product within the ceramic channel of a Hall thruster,it becomes challenging to distinguish between signal and noise. In this study,we propose a model filtering method based on the signal characteristics of the Hall thruster plume spectrometer. This method integrates the slit imaging and spectral resolution features of the spectrometer.Employing this method,we extract the spectral signals of the erosion product and working gas from the Hall thruster under different operating conditions. The results indicate that our new method performs comparably to the traditional method without model filtering when extracting atom signals from strong xenon working gas. However, for trace amounts of the erosion product, our approach significantly enhances the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR),enabling the identification of extremely weak spectral signals even under low mass flow rate and low-voltage conditions. We obtain boron atom concentration of 3.91×10^(-3) kg/m^(3) at a mass flow rate of 4×10^(-7) kg/s and voltage of 200 V while monitoring a wider range of thruster operating conditions. The new method proposed in this study is suitable for monitoring other low-concentration elements, making it valuable for materials processing, environmental monitoring and space propulsion applications. 展开更多

To fundamentally alleviate the excavation chamber clogging during slurry tunnel boring machine(TBM)advancing in hard rock,large-diameter short screw conveyor was adopted to slurry TBM of Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay Second Undersea Tunnel. To evaluate the discharging performance of short screw conveyor in different cases, the full-scale transient slurry-rock two-phase model for a short screw conveyor actively discharging rocks was established using computational fluid dynamics-discrete element method(CFD-DEM)coupling approach. In the fluid domain of coupling model, the sliding mesh technology was utilized to describe the rotations of the atmospheric composite cutterhead and the short screw conveyor. In the particle domain of coupling model, the dynamic particle factories were established to produce rock particles with the rotation of the cutterhead. And the accuracy and reliability of the CFD-DEM simulation results were validated via the field test and model test.Furthermore,a comprehensive parameter analysis was conducted to examine the effects of TBM operating parameters, the geometric design of screw conveyor and the size of rocks on the discharging performance of short screw conveyor.Accordingly,a reasonable rotational speed of screw conveyor was suggested and applied to Jiaozhou Bay Second Undersea Tunnel project. The findings in this paper could provide valuable references for addressing the excavation chamber clogging during ultra-large-diameter slurry TBM tunneling in hard rock for similar future. 展开更多

In order to establish an adaptive turbo-shaft engine model with high accuracy, a new modeling method based on parameter selection (PS) algorithm and multi-input multi-output recursive reduced least square support vector regression (MRR-LSSVR) machine is proposed. Firstly, the PS algorithm is designed to choose the most reasonable inputs of the adaptive module. During this process, a wrapper criterion based on least square support vector regression (LSSVR) machine is adopted, which can not only reduce computational complexity but also enhance generalization performance. Secondly, with the input variables determined by the PS algorithm, a mapping model of engine parameter estimation is trained off-line using MRR-LSSVR, which has a satisfying accuracy within 5&. Finally, based on a numerical simulation platform of an integrated helicopter/ turbo-shaft engine system, an adaptive turbo-shaft engine model is developed and tested in a certain flight envelope. Under the condition of single or multiple engine components being degraded, many simulation experiments are carried out, and the simulation results show the effectiveness and validity of the proposed adaptive modeling method. 展开更多

CNC machining systems are inevitably confronted with frequent changes in energy behaviors because they are widely used to perform various machining tasks. It is a challenge to understand and analyze the flexible energy behaviors in CNC machining systems. A method to model flexible energy behaviors in CNC machining systems based on hierarchical objected-oriented Petri net(HOONet) is proposed. The structure of the HOONet is constructed of a high-level model and detail models. The former is used to model operational states for CNC machining systems, and the latter is used to analyze the component models for operational states. The machining parameters having great impacts on energy behaviors in CNC machining systems are declared with the data dictionary in HOONet models. A case study based on a CNC lathe is presented to demonstrate the proposed modeling method. The results show that it is effective for modeling flexible energy behaviors and providing a fine-grained description to quantitatively analyze the energy consumption of CNC machining systems. 展开更多

A numerical method was used in order to establish the constitutive relationship of sands under different stress paths, Firstly, based on the numerical method modeling the constitutive law of sands, the elastoplastic constitutive relationship of sand was established for three paths: the constant proportion of principle stress path, the conventional triaxial compression (CTC) path, and the p=constant (TC) path. The yield lines of plastic volumetric strain and plastic generalized shear strain were given. Through visualization, the three dimensional surface of the stress-strain relationship in the whole stress field (p, q) obtained under the three paths was plotted. Also, by comparing the stress-strain surfaces and yield locus of the three stress paths, the differences were found to be obvious, which demonstrates that the influence of the stress paths on constitutive law was not neglected. The numerical modeling method overcame the difficulty of finding an analytical expression for plastic potential. The results simulated the experimental data with an accuracy of 90% on average, so the constitutive model established in this paper provides an effective constitutive equation for this kind of engineering, reflecting the effect of practical stress paths that occur in sands. 展开更多

The relationship between capillary pressure and saturation plays a critical role in the characterization of two-phase flow and transport in aquifers and oil reservoirs. This relationship is usually determined under the static condition, where capillary pressure is the only function of saturation. However, considerable experiments have suggested that the dependence of capillary pressure on desaturation rate is under the dynamic condition. Thus, a more general description of capillary pressure that includes dynamic capillary effect has been approved widely. A comprehensive understanding of the dynamic capillary effect is needed for the investigation of the two-phase flow in porous media by various methods. In general, dynamic capillary effect in porous media can be studied through the laboratory experiment, pore-to macro-scale modeling, and artificial neural network. Here, main principle and research procedures of each method are reviewed in detail. Then, research progress, disadvantages and advantages are discussed, respectively. In addition, upscaling study from pore-to macro-scale are introduced, which explains the difference between laboratory experiment and pore-scale modeling. At last, several future perspectives and recommendations for optimal solution of dynamic capillary effect are presented. 展开更多

The strategies that minimize the overall solution time of multiple linear systems in 3D finite element method (FEM) modeling of direct current (DC) resistivity were discussed. A global stiff matrix is assembled and stored in two parts separately. One part is associated with the volume integral and the other is associated with the subsurface boundary integral. The equivalent multiple linear systems with closer right-hand sides than the original systems were constructed. A recycling Krylov subspace technique was employed to solve the multiple linear systems. The solution of the seed system was used as an initial guess for the subsequent systems. The results of two numerical experiments show that the improved algorithm reduces the iterations and CPU time by almost 50%, compared with the classical preconditioned conjugate gradient method. 展开更多
