Multi-criteria handoff algorithms have been playing a more important role than the traditional handoff algorithms.In order to balance the satisfaction of users and the efficiency of networks,it is necessary to develop new technologies to improve the validity of handoff algorithms.Intelligent and optimized handoff algorithms in hybrid networks that integrate Ad hoc and mobile cellular systems are well-adaptive and robust.They are able to implement handoffs adaptively,according to specific multi-factors such as different Quality of Service(QoS)requirements,network states and mobile node conditions in the future hybrid networks.Therefore,these intelligent and optimized algorithms can make more effective handover decision,and accordingly improve the system’s performance.The future research will tackle intelligent or optimized vertical handoff algorithms for integrated Ad hoc and mobile cellular networks to improve their whole system performance. 展开更多

In this work, two chemometrics methods are applied for the modeling and prediction of electrophoretic mobilities of some organic and inorganic compounds. The successive projection algorithm, feature selection (SPA) strategy, is used as the descriptor selection and model development method. Then, the support vector machine (SVM) and multiple linear regression (MLR) model are utilized to construct the non-linear and linear quantitative structure-property relationship models. The results obtained using the SVM model are compared with those obtained using MLR reveal that the SVM model is of much better predictive value than the MLR one. The root-mean-square errors for the training set and the test set for the SVM model were 0.1911 and 0.2569, respectively, while by the MLR model, they were 0.4908 and 0.6494, respectively. The results show that the SVM model drastically enhances the ability of prediction in QSPR studies and is superior to the MLR model. 展开更多

Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs) have many applications, such as climate monitoring systems, fire detection, smart homes, and smart cities. It is expected that WSNs will be integrated into the Internet of Things(IoT)and participate in various tasks. WSNs play an important role monitoring and reporting environment information and collecting surrounding context. In this paper we consider a WSN deployed for an application such as environment monitoring, and a mobile sink which acts as the gateway between the Internet and the WSN. Data gathering is a challenging problem in WSNs and in the IoT because the information has to be available quickly and effectively without delays and redundancies. In this paper we propose several distributed algorithms for composite event detection and reporting to a mobile sink. Once data is collected by the sink, it can be shared using the IoT infrastructure. We analyze the performance of our algorithms using WSNet simulator, which is specially designed for event-based WSNs. We measure various metrics such as average residual energy, percentage of composite events processed successfully at the sink, and the average number of hops to reach the sink. 展开更多
