The microstruct...A Li-B alloy has been prepared using a pretreated amorphous B powder and pure Li ingot as starting materials by continually slow addition of B powder and intensified stirring in the process of melting. The microstructure and the discharge characteristic of the materials have been investigated- Results show that the problem of temperature control in synthesis would be modified by means of continual addition of B powder, the Li7B6 would be more finely distributed in the metal Li by means of intensified stirring. The discharge characteristic of the Li-B alloy using amorphous B as starting materials is almost the same with that of using crystalline B.展开更多
The microstructure and the mechanical properties of hardened mortars made of superplasticized composite binder containing shale ash and fly ash are investigated. The pozzolanic reaction consumes the oriented Ca (OH)/...The microstructure and the mechanical properties of hardened mortars made of superplasticized composite binder containing shale ash and fly ash are investigated. The pozzolanic reaction consumes the oriented Ca (OH)//2 crystals, thus making the transition zone dense. Appropriately proportioning of shale ash and fly ash decreases the water requirement and increases the packing density of composite binder mortars, therefore increases their strength. Superplasticizer promotes the carbonation of calcium hydrates and the formation of ettringite that is transformed gradually into mono-sulfoaluminate hydrate in composite binder mortars. The joint action of fine complex mineral admixture and superplasticizer has a synergistic effect to improve the mechanical properties of composite binder. (Author abstract) 7 Refs.展开更多

Scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transm...In the present study, bond-coats for thermal barrier coatings were deposited via air plasma spraying(APS) techniques onto Inconel 800 and Hastelloy C-276 alloy substrates. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), and atomic force microscopy(AFM) were used to investigate the phases and microstructure of the as-sprayed, APS-deposited Co Ni Cr Al Y bond-coatings. The aim of this work was to study the suitability of the bond-coat materials for high temperature applications. Confirmation of nanoscale grains of the γ/γ′-phase was obtained by TEM, high-resolution TEM, and AFM. We concluded that these changes result from the plastic deformation of the bond-coat during the deposition, resulting in Co Ni Cr Al Y bond-coatings with excellent thermal cyclic resistance suitable for use in high-temperature applications. Cyclic oxidative stability was observed to also depend on the underlying metallic alloy substrate.展开更多
Bi<sub>2</sub>Fe<sub>4</sub>O<sub>9</sub> crystalline ceramic was successfully synthesized through a soft chemical route at lower sintering temperature for analysis of photocatalyti...Bi<sub>2</sub>Fe<sub>4</sub>O<sub>9</sub> crystalline ceramic was successfully synthesized through a soft chemical route at lower sintering temperature for analysis of photocatalytic behavior with respect to adsorption of Congo Red (CR) in the presence of UV-VIS irradiation. The single-phase formation of Bi<sub>2</sub>Fe<sub>4</sub>O<sub>9</sub> ceramic was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction studies and particle size observed by TEM analysis was found to be 148 ± 5 nm which reveals the crystalline nature of the materials. Additionally, the photocatalytic activity of Bi<sub>2</sub>Fe<sub>4</sub>O<sub>9</sub> ceramic was evaluated by the degradation of Congo Red in presence of visible light. The optical band gap (Eg) of the synthesized materials was found to be 1.8 eV. It exhibited greater photocatalytic activity than other synthesized materials like BiFeO<sub>3</sub> as well as TiO<sub>2</sub> due to a smaller band gap (1.8 eV). Applying two lanthanide shiftreagents, by examining the separation of resonance peaks of the 1,4-isoprene olefin proton,I-centred triad distributions, and even I-cectred pentad fractions are measured. It is con-firmed that there is a penultimate of effect in this free radical copolymerization and the reac-tivity ratios established corresponding to Second-order Markov chain model are r11=0.48,rMI=0.86, rMM=0.51 and rIM=0.43, respectively. The observed I-centred pentad fraetions andM-centred triad distributions agree with the above results.展开更多
