RF power amplifiers (PAs) are usually considered as memoryless devices in most existing predistortion techniques. Nevertheless, in wideband communication systems, PA memory effects can no longer be ignored and memoryless predistortion cannot linearize PAs effectively. After analyzing PA memory effects, a novel predistortion method based on wavelet networks (WNs) is proposed to linearize wideband RF power amplifiers. A complex wavelet network with tapped delay lines is applied to construct the predistorter and then a complex backpropagation algorithm is developed to train the predistorter parameters. The simulation results show that compared with the previously published feed-forward neural network predistortion method, the proposed method provides faster convergence rate and better performance in reducing out-of-band spectral regrowth. 展开更多

RF power amplifiers (PAs) are usually considered as memoryless devices in most existing predistortion techniques. However, in broadband communication systems, such as WCDMA, the PA memory effects are significant, and memoryless predistortion cannot linearize the PAs effectively. After analyzing the PA memory effects, a novel predistortion method based on the simplified Volterra series is proposed to linearize broadband RF PAs with memory effects. The indirect learning architecture is adopted to design the predistortion scheme and the reeursive least squares algorithm with forgetting factor is applied to identify the parameters of the predistorter. Simulation results show that the proposed predistortion method can compensate the nonlinear distortion and memory effects of broadband RF PAs effectively. 展开更多

The influence of aging on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Cu-11.6wt%Al-3.9wt%Ni-2.5wt%Mn shape memory alloy(SMA) was studied by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray diffractometer, and differential scanning calorimeter(DSC).Experimental results show that bainite,γ2,and α phase precipitates occur with the aging effect in the alloy. After aging at 300°C,the bainitic precipitates appear at the early stages of aging, while the precipitates of γ2 phase are observed for a longer aging time. When the aging temperature increases, the bainite gradually evolves into γ2 phase and equilibrium α phase(bcc) precipitates from the remaining parent phase. Thus, the bainite,γ2,and α phases appear, while the martensite phase disappears progressively in the alloy. The bainitic precipitates decrease the reverse transformation temperature while the γ2 phase precipitates increase these temperatures with a decrease of solute content in the retained parent phase. On the other hand, these precipitations cause an increasing in hardness of the alloy. 展开更多

The effects of 1 Me V electron irradiation in air at a fixed accumulated dose and dose rates of 393.8,196.9,78.8,and 39.4 Gy s^(-1)on a shape memory epoxy(SMEP)resin were studied.Under low-dose-rate irradiation, accelerated degradation of the shape memory performance was observed;specifically, the shape recovery ratio decreased exponentially with increasing irradiation time(that is,with decreasing dose rate). In addition, the glass transition temperature of the SMEP,as measured by dynamic mechanical analysis, decreased overall with decreasing dose rate. The dose rate effects of 1 Me V electron irradiation on the SMEP were confirmed by structural analysis using electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy. The EPR spectra showed that the concentration of free radicals increased exponentially with increasing irradiation time. Moreover, the FTIR spectra showed higher intensities of the peaks at 1660 and 1720 cm^(-1),which are attributed to stretching vibrations of amide C=O and ketone/acid C=O,at lower dose rates. The intensities of the IR peaks at 1660 and 1720 cm^(-1) increased exponentially with increasing irradiation time, and the relative intensity of the IR peak at 2926 cm^(-1)decreased exponentially with increasing irradiation time. The solid-state13 C nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectra of the SMEP before and after 1 Me V electron irradiation at a dose of 1970 k Gy and a dose rate of 78.8 Gy s^(-1) indicated damage to the CH_(2)–N groups and aliphatic isopropanol segment. This result is consistent with the detection of nitrogenous free radicals,a phenoxy-type free radical, and several types of pyrolytic carbon radicals by EPR.During the subsequent propagation process, the free radicals produced at lower dose rates were more likely to react with oxygen, which was present at higher concentrations, and form the more destructive peroxy free radicals and oxidation products such as acids, amides, and ketones. The increase in peroxy free radicals at lower dose rates was thought to accelerate the degradation of the macroscopic performance of the SMEP. 展开更多

It was determined that samples of styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR),containing highly aromatic oil, exhibit memory effects giving rise to dynamic elastic modulus, damping and internal stresses degree which can be tailored depending on the applied electric field strength. The capability and stability of the interaction process between aligned neighbor dipoles for exhibiting a memory effect, once the aligning electric field was removed are studied. It is determined that depending on the spatial arrangement and the amount of electric charge of the dipoles, this interaction is able to promote a memory effect which keeps the alignment between them. This electrostatic interaction plays the role of a counteracting effect for keeping the alignment, which was called electroelasticity. The results from the developed model were applied successfully to SBR composite samples for explaining the memory effects recorded from dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA)measurements under electric field. In addition, the model of the electric inclusion based on the inclusion theory for continuous media, was applied to determine the degree of internal stresses in the dielectric composite material due to the external applied electric field. In addition, from the coupling between the model developed here and simple issues related to the mechanical properties of composite materials,a procedure for determining the maximum possible gap between the electric dipoles in composite dielectric materials is also shown. 展开更多

The effect of aging treatment on the superelasticity and martensitic transformation critical stress in columnar-grained Cu_(71)Al_(18)Mn_(11) shape memory alloy(SMA) at the temperature ranging from 250°C to 400°C was investigated. The microstructure evolution during the aging treatment was characterized by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The results show that the plate-like bainite precipitates distribute homogeneously within austenitic grains and at grain boundaries. The volume fraction of bainite increases with the increase in aging temperature and aging time, which substantially improves the martensitic transformation critical stress of the alloy, whereas the bainite only slightly affects the superelasticity. This behavior is attributed to a coherent relationship between the bainite and the austenite, as well as to the bainite and the martensite exhibiting the same crystal structure. The variations of the martensitic transformation critical stress and the superelasticity of columnar-grained Cu_(71)Al_(18)Mn_(11) SMA with aging-temperature and aging time are described by the Austin-Rickett equation, where the activation energy of bainite precipitation is 77.2 kJ ·mol1. Finally, a columnar-grained Cu_(71)Al_(18)Mn_(11) SMA with both excellent superelasticity(5%-9%) and high martensitic transformation critical stress(443-677 MPa) is obtained through the application of the appropriate aging treatments. 展开更多

The effect of Ta addition on the martensitic transformation characteristics and the X-ray visibility on NiTi shape memory alloy have been studied in (Ni51Ti49)1-xTax system. It was found that the transformation temperatures of the Ni51Ti49 binary alloy increased drastically by an addition of 0~4 at. pet Ta, but only slightly when the concentration exceeded 4 at. pct; the addition of Ta greatly decreases the sensitivity of the martensitic transformations to the variation in the Ni-Ti ratio. The addition of Ta to the NiTi binary alloy can improve its X-ray visibility. 展开更多

In order to describe the time delay in the surface roughing process the Kardar Parisis-Zhang (KPZ) equation with memory effects is constructed and analysed using the dynamic renormalization group and the power counting mode coupling approach by Chattopadhyay [2009 Phys. Rev. E 80 011144]. In this paper, the scaling analysis and the classical self-consistent mode-coupling approximation are utilized to investigate the dynamic scaling behaviour of the KPZ equation with memory effects. The values of the scaling exponents depending on the memory parameter are calculated for the substrate dimensions being 1 and 2, respectively. The more detailed relationship between the scaling exponent and memory parameter reveals the significant influence of memory effects on the scaling properties of the KPZ equation. 展开更多

Based on the time-convolutionless master-equation approach, the entropic uncertainty in the presence of quantum memory is investigated for a two-atom system in two dissipative cavities. We find that the entropic uncertainty can be controlled by the non-Markovian effect and the atom-cavity coupling. The results show that increasing the atom-cavity coupling can enlarge the oscillating frequencies of the entropic uncertainty and can decrease the minimal value of the entropic uncertainty. Enhancing the non-Markovian effect can reduce the minimal value of the entropic uncertainty. In particular, if the atom-cavity coupling or the non-Markovian effect is very strong, the entropic uncertainty will be very dose to zero at certain time points, thus Bob can minimize his uncertainty about Alice's measurement outcomes, 展开更多

Different fragments of a hot-rolled and homogenized Cu–Zn–Al shape memory alloy(SMA) were subjected to thermal cycling by means of a differential scanning calorimetric(DSC) device. During thermal cycling, heating was performed at the same constant rate of increasing temperature while cooling was carried out at different rates of decreasing temperature. For each cooling rate, the temperature decreased in the same thermal interval. During each cooling stage, an exothermic peak(maximum) was observed on the DSC thermogram. This peak was associated with forward martensitic transformation. The DSC thermograms were analyzed with PROTEUS software: the critical martensitic transformation start(Ms) and finish(Mf) temperatures were determined by means of integral and tangent methods, and the dissipated heat was evaluated by the area between the corresponding maximum plot and a sigmoid baseline. The effects of the increase in cooling rate, assessed from a calorimetric viewpoint, consisted in the augmentation of the exothermic peak and the delay of direct martensitic transformation. The latter had the tendency to move to lower critical transformation temperatures. The martensite plates changed in morphology by becoming more oriented and by an augmenting in surface relief, which corresponded with the increase in cooling rate as observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and atomic force microscopy(AFM). 展开更多

To reduce the number of digital predistortion coefficients, a step memory polynomial (SMP)predistorter is presented. The number of predistortion coefficients is decreased by adjusting the maximum nonlinear order for different memory orders in the traditional memory polynomial (MP)predistorter. The proposed SNIP predistorter is identified by an offline learning structure on which the coefficients can be extracted directly from the sampled input and output of a PA. Simulation results show that the SMP predistorter is not tied to a particular PA model and is, therefore, robust. The effectiveness of the SMP predistorter is demonstrated by simulations and experiments on an MP model, a parallel Wiener model, a Wiener-Hammerstein model, a sparsedelay memory polynomial model and a real PA which is fabricated based on the Freescale LDMOSFET MRF21030. Compared with the traditional MP predistorter, the SMP predistorter can reduce the number of coefficients by 60%. 展开更多

The emergence of additive manufacturing technology, particularly laser powder bed fusion, has revitalized NiTi alloy production. However, challenges arise regarding its mechanical properties and diminishing shape memory effect, which hinder its widespread application.Heat treatment has been identified as a method to enhance the performance of metallic materials in the realm of additive manufacturing. This process eliminates residual stress and enhances performance through precipitation strengthening. This study conducted a comprehensive annealing investigation on NiTi alloys to explore the impact of annealing time and temperature on the phase transformation behavior and shape memory performance. The mechanism underlying the performance enhancement was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy,energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, electron backscatter diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy. The findings revealed that different annealing conditions resulted in multistep phase transformation behavior, with the 500℃-5 h sample exhibiting the best mechanical properties owing to the formation of nanoscale dispersed precipitates like Ni_(4)Ti_(3).However,higher temperatures led to larger precipitates, significantly weakening the properties of the NiTi alloy.Additionally, the annealing treatment did not have a notable impact on the grain size, texture strength,or direction. This study provides valuable insights for optimizing the heat treatment process of LPBF-NiTi alloys. 展开更多

Annealing has been a popular method to improve the soft magnetism of metallic glasses (MGs), which however usually makes MGs brittle and difficult to process. Here, it is demonstrated that the embrittled Fe-based MG can be reductilized and the coercivity can be further lowered through the rejuvenation of memory effect. The synchronous improvement in the plasticity and soft magnetic properties is attributed to the combination effects of releasing much residual stress, decreasing the magnetic anisotropy, and homogenizing the glasses during the rejuvenation process. The current work opens a new perspective to improve the properties of MGs by utilizing the memory effect and holds promising commercial application potential. 展开更多

Significant two-way shape memory effect(TWSME)was achieved in single crystals of single-phase multielement Ni42-x Cu8 Cox Mn37 Ga13(8≤x≤12)alloys by performing thermomechanical training. However, anomalous dependence of the martensitic transformation temperature span on Co content was observed. Before training, quite a narrow temperature span of the martensitic transformation, nearly independent of the Co content, was observed in all single crystals. After training the temperature span was still narrow for 8≤x≤10.9 but was obviously expanded for 10.9<x≤12.High-resolution transmission electron microscopy revealed that at the atomic scale, there exists incommensurate modulated structure in the single phase single crystals,as evidenced by nonperiodic satellite spots in the selected area electronic diffraction patterns. Moreover, the modulated wave vector of the satellite spots was increased by higher Co contents.Combining first principal calculations it was considered that the incommensurate modulated structure originates from the formation of Co-Co pairs. After training arrays of ordered dislocations with the same Burgers vector were introduced for 8≤x≤10.9 but the network of dislocations was formed for 10.9<x≤12.Based on analysis of transmission electron microscopy, geometric phase, thermodynamics, and Landau theory,it was considered that the austenite/martensite phase interface was pinned by the network of dislocations, expanding the temperature span of the martensitic transformation. This work supplies new insights for understanding the microstructure and martensitic transformation of Ni-Mn-Ga-based alloys. 展开更多

The intermittent nature of solar irradiance is a critical constraint for the realization of continuous photocatalytic hydrogen evolution, thus urging the development of more powerful systems persistently active after illumination. This limitation is bypassed in round-the-clock photocatalytic architectures, which incorporate advanced charge storage to de-correlate pho-ton absorption and catalytic turnover time scales. The strategies involve defect-mediated trap states,multi-electron redox processes,radical-dependent stabilization, and an interfacial charge pool in Faradaic junctions to work together, leading to extended hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)in the dark.Long afterglow phosphorescent materials(e.g.,Sr_(2)MgSi_(2)O_(7):Eu^(2+),Dy^(3+))incorporated in heterojunction architectures with type II or Z-scheme band alignments can also promote fast charge separation for energy storage and subsequently enable controlled release after light quenching by the phosphorescent emis-sion.Advances in band-structure engineering, plasmonic coupling, and redox-active interfacial design result in systems with extraordinary stability and catalytic activity under natural day-night cycles. These stable photocatalytic systems off er a fundamentally new strategy for effi cient and environmentally benign sunlight-driven fuel production, meeting both per-formance and sustainability challenges to renewable energy technologies. 展开更多

The gravitational memory effect manifests gravitational nonlinearity, degenerate vacua, and asymptotic symmetries;its detection is considered challenging. We propose using a space-borne interferometer to detect memory signals from stellar-mass binary black holes(BBHs),typically targeted by ground-based detectors. We use DECIGO detector as an example.Over 5 years,DECIGO is estimated to detect approximately 2,036 memory signals(SNRs>3)from stellar-mass BBHs.Simulations used frequency-domain memory waveforms for direct SNR estimation.Predictions utilized a GWTC-3 constrained BBH population model(Power law+Peak mass,DEFAULT spin,Madau-Dickinson merger rate). The analysis used conservative lower merger rate limits and considered orbital eccentricity. The high detection rate stems from strong memory signals within DECIGO’s bandwidth and the abundance of stellar-mass BBHs.This substantial and conservative detection count enables statistical use of the memory effect for fundamental physics and astrophysics.DECIGO exemplifies that space interferometers may better detect memory signals from smaller mass binaries than their typical targets.Detectors in lower frequency bands are expected to find strong memory signals from∼10^(4)M⊙binaries. 展开更多

The spectral memory effect in scattering media is crucial for applications that employ broadband illumination,as it dictates the available spectral range from independent scattering responses.Previous studies mainly considered a passive result with the average impact of the scattering medium, whereas it is vital to actively enhance or suppress this effect for applications concerned with large spectral range or fine resolution. We construct an analytical model by integrating the concepts of wave-based interference and photon-based propagation, which manifests a potential physical image for active manipulation by utilizing scattering eigenchannels. Our theoretical predictions indicate that the spectral memory effect is enhanced using high-transmission eigenchannels while it is suppressed using low-transmission eigenchannels. These predictions are supported by finite-difference time-domain simulations and experiments, demonstrating that the spectral memory effect’s range can be actively manipulated.Quantitatively, the experiments achieved variations in enhancement and suppression that exceeded threefold(∼3.27).We clarify the underlying principles of the spectral memory effect in scattering media and demonstrate active manipulation of multispectral scattering processes. 展开更多

Efficiency and linearity of the microwave power amplifier are critical elements for mobile communication systems. A memory polynomial baseband predistorter based on an indirect learning architecture is presented for improving the linearity of an envelope tracing (ET) amplifier with application to a wireless transmitter. To deal with large peak-to-average ratio (PAR) problem, a clipping procedure for the input signal is employed. Then the system performance is verified by simulation results. For a single carrier wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) signal of 16-quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM), about 2% improvement of the error vector magnitude (EVM) is achieved at an average output power of 45.5 dBm and gain of 10.6 dB, with adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) of -64.55 dBc at offset frequency of 5 MHz. Moreover, a three-carrier WCDMA signal and a third-generation (3G) long term evolution (LTE) signal are used as test signals to demonstrate the performance of the proposed linearization scheme under different bandwidth signals. 展开更多

The classical model of voltage-gated ion channels assumes that according to a Markov process ion channels switch among a small number of states without memory, but a bunch of experimental papers show that some ion channels exhibit significant memory effects, and this memory effects can take the form of kinetic rate constant that is fractal. Obviously the gating character of ion channels will affect generation and propagation of action potentials, furthermore, affect generation, coding and propagation of neural information. However, there is little previous research on this series of interesting issues. This paper investigates effects of fractal gating of potassium channel subunits switching from closed state to open state on neuronal behaviours. The obtained results show that fractal gating of potassium channel subunits switching from closed state to open state has important effects on neuronal behaviours, increases excitability, rest potential and spiking frequency of the neuronal membrane, and decreases threshold voltage and threshold injected current of the neuronal membrane. So fractal gating of potassium channel subunits switching from closed state to open state can improve the sensitivity of the neuronal membrane, and enlarge the encoded strength of neural information. 展开更多
