Macroporous CeQ-ZrO2 oxygen carders with different pore sizes prepared by colloidal crystal templating method and characterized by techniques of scalming electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and temperature pro- grammed reduction (H2-TPR) were tested in CL-SMR process. For comparison, nonporous CeO2-ZrO2 oxygen carrier prepared by precipitation method was also investigated. It was found that macroporous CeO2-ZrO2 oxygen carriers owned higher reducibility and reactivity in CL-SMR process than nonporous samples. For the macroporous CeO2-ZrO2 sample, the decline of pore size could im- prove the reducibility and reactivity. The macroporous sample with a pore size of 100 nm (labeled as Ce-Zr-100) showed the highest performance for the co-production of syngas and hydrogen during the successive CL-SMR redox cycles. After 10 redox cycles, it still retained good porous structure and reducibility. It was found that the porous structure could accelerate the oxygen release from bulk to surface, leading to a good mobility of oxygen and higher reducibility. In addition, it was also favorable for diffusion and penetration of methane and water steam into the sample particles to accelerate the reaction rate.展开更多

Renewable energy can be used to drive this process for hydrogen production, especially solar energy. CeO2-Fe2O3 complex oxide oxygen carrier was prepared by the impregnation method and characterized by means of X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Raman spectroscopy (Raman) and hydrogen programmed reduction (H2-TPR). CH4 temperature programmed and isothermal reactions were adopted to test syngas production reactivity, and water splitting reaction was employed to investigate water-splitting activity. Moreover, two-step SRM performance was evaluated by a successive redox cycle. The results showed that CO-uncontaminated H2 and highly selective syngas (with H2/CO ratio close to 2) could be respectively obtained from two steps, and CeFeO3 formation was found in the first redox cycle and proved to be enhanced by the redox treatment. After 10 successive cycles, obvious CeFeO3 phase was detected, which may be responsible for favorable successive redox cycle performances.展开更多

The as-obtained Pr modi- fied CeO2-ZrO2 was impregnated with 1 wt.% Pd to prepare the catalysts. The structure and reducibility of the fresh and hydrother- really aged catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), CO chemi- sorption and H2 temperature-programmed reduction (H2-TPR). The oxygen storage capacity (OSC) was evaluated with CO serving as probe gas. Effects of impregnated Pr on the structure and oxygen storage capacity of catalysts were investigated. The results showed that the aged Pr-impregnated samples had much higher OSC and better reducibility than the unmodified ones. The scheme of structural evolutions of the catalysts with and without Pr was also established. Partial of the impregnated Pr diffused into the bulk of CeO2-ZrO2 during ageing, which inhibited the sintering, and increased the amount of oxygen vacancies in CeO2-ZrO2 support. Furthermore, those impregnated Pr species which covered on the surface of the support obstructed the strong metal-support interaction between Pd and Ce so as to reduce the encapsulation of Pd as well as the back spill-over of the oxygen during the catalytic process.展开更多

The structures and oxygen storage capacities of these ternary oxides were characterized by XRD, Raman spectra and oxygen storage capacity measurements. It was found that Al3+ and Zr4+ inserted into CeO2 lattice, forming CeO2-ZrO2-Al2O3 solid solution. The concentration of aluminium isopropoxide in the solution affected the concentration of oxygen vacancy and the distortion of oxygen sublattice which were responsible for the oxygen storage capacity. The rapidest oxygen uptake/release rate and maximum total oxygen storage capacity (122.0 mmolO2/molCeO2) were obtained with the aluminitun isopropoxide concentration at 0.2 wt.% in the solution.展开更多

The oxygen storage capacity (OSC) measurements at 500℃ were performed under transient and stationary reaction conditions. All the curves of CO2 evolution during CO-O2 cycles presented a bimodal shape. The fast peak was primarily the result of the reaction of CO with the oxygen from the oxides, which was mainly determined by the nature of the material The sec- ond peak was mostly related to the CO2 adsorption behavior and was highly influenced by the surface area and the number of surface active sites. As a result, OSC activity of the samples followed in the order of CZC 〉 CCZ 〉 ZCC=CZP.展开更多

High thermal stability of the textural properties is one of the most important requirements for practical application since temperatures up to 1273 K are easily experienced by these materials under real working conditions. In the present paper, we investigated how hydrothermal treatments applied to cakes of doped and undoped ZrO2-rich CeO2-ZrO2 precursors might improve the thermal stability of the final CeO2-ZrO2 solid solution. A rationale was developed that allowed to correlate the morphology of the hydrothermaUy treated cake with the thermal stability at 1273 K of the final product, which did not depend on the composition of the mixed oxides.展开更多

The ageing treatment was performed in static air at 800℃ for 20 hr to evaluate the thermal stability of the catalyst. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, BET surface area, oxygen storage capacity, NOx-temperature programmed desorption and soot-temperature programmed oxidation measurements. By introduction of potassium, the maximum soot oxidation rate temperature (Tin) of the ceria-zirconia based catalyst decreased from 525 to 428℃ in the presence of NO under a loose contact mode. The shift of Tm of the K-modified catalyst after ageing is only 15℃. The enhanced activity of the aged catalyst mainly lies in the promotional effect of potassium on the NOx/oxygen storage capacity as well as the soot-catalyst contact.展开更多

However, traditional CeO_2-ZrO_2 materials are easy to sinter at high temperature, which causes a sharp decrease of OSC. In this paper,La^(3+) , Nd^(3+) and Y^(3+) are chosen as dopants for CeO_2-ZrO_2 to improve anti-sintering and OSC properties. The Ce_(0.17) Zr_(0.73) La_(0.02) Nd_(0.04) Y_(0.04) O_2 powders(CZLNY) were prepared by co-precipitation method. The effects of grain sizes with different mixed chlorinated solution concentrations on performances were investigated. X-ray diffraction(XRD) and transmission electron micrograph(TEM) were performed to calculate the grain sizes of CZLNY. The specific surfaces, OSC and redox properties were investigated by N_2 adsorption/desorption and temperature programmed reduction(H2-TPR). The results show that introducing La^(3+) , Nd^(3+) and Y^(3+) into CeO_2-ZrO_2 lattice can improve the stability of phase structure and anti-sintering ability. Moreover, low concentration of mixed chlorinated solution remarkably improves structural and textural properties of CZLNY. Relatively large fresh grain exhibits superior thermal stability and OSC under the condition of being calcined at 800℃ for 3 h. The specific surface and OSC are42.37 m^2/g and 333.13 mmol/g after calcining at 1000℃ for 10 h, respectively. This is owing to the low sintered driving force of large grain and long-range migration energy of large pores during the sintering process, which are beneficial to the stability of structure in CZLNY materials.展开更多
