In order to quantify the seismic performance of buildings reasonably and effectively, the paper puts forward the method of earthquake loss evaluation of buildings based on story EDP-DV functions.Firstly, considering the randomness of seismic response parameters, the distribution functions of story EDPs at a given level of ground motion intensity can be achieved through Incremental Dynamic Analysis.Meanwhile, story EDP-DV functions which relate story response parameters(story EDPs)directly to economic losses(DVs)can be created beforehand by integrating component fragility functions and loss functions;they can be called directly without double computation for the same type of buildings.Lastly, the economic losses of a building at a given level of ground motion intensity can be achieved by combining the distribution functions of story EDPs and story EDP-DV functions. On this occasion, the proposed method omits the damage measure in PEER methodology and makes the story not component as a unit of account to evaluate the earthquake losses of a building reasonably and accurately. The numerical example shows that the proposed method is feasible and reasonable to quantify the seismic performance of buildings. 展开更多

Precise comprehensive evaluation of flood disaster loss is significant for the prevention and mitigation of flood disasters. Here, one of the difficulties involved is how to establish a model capable of describing the complex relation between the input and output data of the system of flood disaster loss. Genetic programming (GP) solves problems by using ideas from genetic algorithm and generates computer programs automatically. In this study a new method named the evaluation of the grade of flood disaster loss (EGFD) on the basis of improved genetic programming (IGP) is presented (IGP-EGFD). The flood disaster area and the direct economic loss are taken as the evaluation indexes of flood disaster loss. Obviously that the larger the evaluation index value, the larger the corresponding value of the grade of flood disaster loss is. Consequently the IGP code is designed to make the value of the grade of flood disaster be an increasing function of the index value. The result of the application of the IGP-EGFD model to Henan Province shows that a good function expression can be obtained within a bigger searched function space; and the model is of high precision and considerable practical significance. Thus, IGP-EGFD can be widely used in automatic modeling and other evaluation systems. 展开更多

This research applies experimental measurements and NUBEAM,ONETWO and TRANSP modules to investigate the shine-through(ST)loss ratio and beam heating percentage of neutral beam injection on EAST.Measurements and simulations confirm that the ST loss ratio increases linearly with beam energy, and decreases exponentially with plasma density. Moreover, using the multi-step fitting method,we present analytical quantitative expressions of ST loss ratio and beam heating percentage, which are valuable for the high parameter long-pulse experiments of EAST. 展开更多

The problems of environmental geology refer to the geologic phenomena, incidents or accidents arising from action of environmental geology. The action is mainly the mutual influence between human activity and geologic environment. When human activity is uncoordinated with objective laws of the geologic environment, the problems of environmental geology or economic loss would occur. Therefore, the level and the changing orientation of geologic environmental quality are relative to the types of human activity, particularly relative to human intentional-activities of geologic environmental exploitation project. The geologic environment fitting to mining may not fit to urban construction, and fitting to water conservancy and hydroelectric projects may not fit to communication, and so on.Economy evaluation on the profit and loss of geologic environmental quality is exactly to depict the level of the profit and loss of geologic environmental quality about geologic environmental exploitation projects and the 展开更多

Title:A dual-parameter method for seismic resilience assessment of buildings Authors:LI Shuang;HU Binbin;LIU Wen;ZHAI Changhai Abstract:To quantify the seismic resilience of buildings,a method for evaluating functional loss from the component level to the overall building is proposed, and the dual-parameter seismic resilience assessment method based on postearthquake loss and recovery time is improved.A three-level function tree model is established, which can consider the dynamic changes in weight coefficients of different category of components relative to their functional losses.Bayesian networks are utilized to quantify the impact of weather conditions, construction technology levels, and worker skill levels on component repair time.A method for determining the real-time functional recovery curve of buildings based on the component repair process is proposed.Taking a three-story teaching building as an example, the seismic resilience indices under basic earthquakes and rare earthquakes are calculated. The results show that the seismic resilience grade of the teaching building is comprehensively judged as GradeⅢ,and its resilience grade is more significantly affected by postearthquake loss. The proposed method can be used to predict the seismic resilience of buildings prior to earthquakes, identify weak components within buildings, and provide guidance for taking measures to enhance the seismic resilience of buildings. 展开更多

Oral mucositis due to chemotherapy and irradiation continues to be an important clinical problem. The effectiveness of hyaluronic acid-based compounds in accelerated healing and helping manage pain in patients with oral mucositis was demonstrated. It was investigated a protective and regenerative effect of hyaluronic acid based gel formulation enriched with NAG (N-acetyl glucosamine) loaded solid lipid nanoparticles against degenerative process of the oral mucosa. Gel formulations were obtained by adding sHA (sodium hyaluronate) into SLN aqueous suspension. Gel performances were evaluated by multi-methodological approach: mucoadhesive and barrier properties evaluation, cell viability. It was shown that gel formulation based sHA, enriched with NAG loaded SLNs, when added as suspension, demonstrated to have a good mucoadhesion profile comparable in terms of tensile work and fracture strength to Carbomer 934 2%. The presence of NAG encapsulated and not in gel formulation enhances also the biocompatibility of the system, demonstrating also to have a proliferative effect. Finally, any barrier property was altered. Finally, results demonstrated that sHA based gel formulation enriched SLNs, demonstrated good mucoadeshion property, comparable to carbopol gel, positive control. The proposed gel formulation enriched with SLNs setting up in this work could be used as innovation strategy to treat oral mucositis. 展开更多

Flash floods are characterized by their destructive power, rapid onset, and unpredictability, often causing severe damage to both natural environments and socioeconomic systems.Understanding the detailed disaster-causing mechanisms of flash floods is critical for eff ective disaster risk reduction. However, current studies have not captured the comprehensive circumstance of flash floods that integrates environment, hazard, and exposure from the perspective of disaster systems theory. To address the gap, this study established a systematic framework for comprehensively evaluating flash floods disaster-causing mechanisms in ungauged mountainous micro-watersheds by integrating multi-source data, including remote sensing observations, meteorological station data, unmanned aerial vehicle measurements, and participatory geographic information system data, with hydrological-hydrodynamic and statistical models. The proposed framework consists of four interconnected steps:design storm estimation, flash flood process simulation, critical rainfall calculation, and disaster loss evaluation.Through a case study conducted in Qialegeer Village,Xinjiang,China,we demonstrated the framework's applicability by reconstructing flash flood scenarios, including the 2017 event as well as those of 10 and 20 years return periods. The results demonstrate that our framework robustly and systematically elucidates flash flood disaster process in the region with high reliability.Furthermore,it is adaptable to other ungauged mountainous micro-watersheds.This framework ultimately serves to enhance disaster risk mitigation and build resilience in vulnerable mountainous communities. 展开更多
