Based on the failure mechanism of double-logarithmic spiral curves on the face of deep rock tunnels, the analytical solutions of collapse pressure were derived through utilizing the virtual power principle in the case of pore water, and the optimal solutions of collapse pressure were obtained by using the optimization programs of mathematical model with regard of a maximum problem. In comparison with existing research with the same parameters, the consistency of change rule shows the validity of the proposed method. Moreover, parametric study indicates that nonlinear Hoek-Brown failure criterion and pore water pressure have great influence on collapse pressure and failure shape of tunnel faces in deep rock masses, particularly when the surrounding rock is too weak or under the condition of great disturbance and abundant ground water, and in this case, supporting measures should be intensified so as to prevent the occurrence of collapse.展开更多

For a simple homogeneous slope, the position of a critical failure surface is determined by value of c/tan ~b. Utilizing upper bound theorem of limit analysis, the external work rate and internal energy for normal slope under earthquake forces are given, and the formula for minimum safety factor is derived. On this basis, the equation of slip surface and the surface depth of a given position are solved. In this way, the strength parameter can be analyzed by known slip surface depth. A three-dimensional(3D) failure mode is established by extending the two-dimensional(2D) failure mode, which offers an upper bound expression of the surrounding rock pressure. This method is validated with a series of examples before the influence of four parameters of scale parameter, curvature parameter, shift parameter and lateral pressure coefficient, on the surrounding rock pressure is analyzed. According to these results, failure ranges of the underground cavities are determined. The following conclusions are reached:(1) the proposed approach is more accurate to predict surrounding rock pressure than the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion;(2) the surrounding rock with large scale parameter, curvature parameter, shift parameter, and lateral pressure coefficient can lead to a more stable underground cavity;(3) the failure range in 3D mode can be predicted according to the upper bound solutions.展开更多

文摘A method of analyzing the stability of twin shallow tunnels was presented using both limit analysis with nonlinear failure criterion and reliability theory. In the condition of nonlinear failure criterion, the critical clear distancesof twin shallow tunnels were obtained by analyzing the change of surrounding pressure.A reliability model was established based on limit state equation, and the failure probability was solved by virtue of Monte Carlo method.Safety factor and corresponding clear distance of different safety levels were obtained by introducing a target reliability index. The scope of clear distance for different safety levels is described, which can be used as a supplement and improvement to the design codes of tunnels.

文摘Although slice methods are simple and effective slope stability analysis approaches, they are statically indeterminate.Several modifications of the slice method, such as the Spencer,MorgensternPrice, and Chen-Morgenstern methods, are statically determinate and solvable as they assume the inter-slice force inclination angle;however, there is a small gap between the assumptions and actual landslide stability analysis.Through reasonable theoretical analysis, the Su slice method provides a reliable approach for determining the inter-slice force inclination angle that can be used in slice analysis to accurately analyse, calculate, and evaluate the stability of landslides. However, the Su slice method requires further research and analysis, especially in terms of the parameter values sinλbiandρ.In this study,we investigated more accurate methods for calculating the parameters sinλbiandρ.In addition,an adjustment coefficient(μ)was introduced to improve the solution method for the inter-slice force inclination angle. The inter-slice force inclination and safety factors of three landslides with arc-shaped slip surfaces and one landslide with a polyline-shaped slip surface were analysed and compared using the different slice methods. The improved inter-slice force inclination not only satisfies the calculation of static force equilibrium condition but also satisfies the calculation of both the force and moment equilibrium conditions. The improved method for calculating inter-slice force inclination presented the best correlation. The safety factors calculated using the improved Su slice method were close to those obtained using numerical simulations and the Morgenstern-Price method.Despite negligible differences among the safety factors calculated using the Su slice, improved Su slice, and M-P methods, the accuracy of the improved Su slice method was better than the M-P method in terms of inter-slice force inclination angles which can be useful to improve protection engineering design.

文摘The nonlinear Hoek-Brown failure criterion was introduced to limit analysis by applying the tangent method. Moreover, parametric study indicates that nonlinear Hoek-Brown failure criterion and pore water pressure have great influence on collapse pressure and failure shape of tunnel faces in deep rock masses, particularly when the surrounding rock is too weak or under the condition of great disturbance and abundant ground water, and in this case, supporting measures should be intensified so as to prevent the occurrence of collapse.

文摘Based on nonlinear failure criterion,a three-dimensional failure mechanism of the possible collapse of deep tunnel is presented with limit analysis theory.Support pressure is taken into consideration in the virtual work equation performed under the upper bound theorem. It is necessary to point out that the properties of surrounding rock mass plays a vital role in the shape of collapsing rock mass. The first order reliability method and Monte Carlo simulation method are then employed to analyze the stability of presented mechanism.Different rock parameters are considered random variables to value the corresponding reliability index with an increasing applied support pressure. The reliability indexes calculated by two methods are in good agreement.Sensitivity analysis was performed and the influence of coefficient variation of rock parameters was discussed. It is shown that the tensile strength plays a much more important role in reliability index than dimensionless parameter, and that small changes occurring in the coefficient of variation would make great influence of reliability index. Thus, significant attention should be paid to the properties of surrounding rock mass and the applied support pressure to maintain the stability of tunnel can be determined for a given reliability index.

文摘Based on the nonlinear Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion and the associated flow rules, the three-dimensional(3-D)axisymmetric failure mechanism of shallow horizontal circular plate anchors that are subjected to the ultimate pullout capacity(UPC)is determined.A derivative function of the projection function for projecting the 3-D axisymmetric failure surface on plane is deduced using the variation theory.By using difference principle, the primitive function of failure surface satisfying boundary condition and numerical solution to its corresponding ultimate pullout capacity function are obtained. The influences of nonlinear Mohr-Coulomb parameters on UPC and failure mechanism are studied. The result shows that UPC decreases with dimensionless parameter m and uniaxial tensile strength increases but increases when depth and radius of plate anchor, surface overload, initial cohesion, geomaterial density and friction angle increase. The failure surface is similar to a symmetrical spatial funnel, and its shape is mainly determined by dimensionless parameter m;the surface damage range expands with the increase of radius and depth of the plate anchor as well as initial cohesion but decreases with the increase of dimensionless parameter m and uniaxial tensile strength as well as geomaterial density. As the dimensionless parameter m=2.0,the numerical solution of UPC based on the difference principle is proved to be feasible and effective through the comparison with the exact solution. In addition, the comparison between solutions of UPC computed by variation method and those computed by upper bound method indicate that variation method outperforms upper bound method.

文摘Long time monitoring is acquired to obtain the displacement data for displacement-based geotechnical material back analysis, and these data are hard to be measured under some special condition, such as earthquake. For practical use, the surface depth for a given slope under varying strength parameter is presented. Finally, two examples are given to show its simplicity and effectiveness.

文摘A generalized nonlinear Baker failure criterion is employed with the upper bound limit analysis to study the surrounding rock stability of underground cavities. The following conclusions are reached:(1) the proposed approach is more accurate to predict surrounding rock pressure than the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion;(2) the surrounding rock with large scale parameter, curvature parameter, shift parameter, and lateral pressure coefficient can lead to a more stable underground cavity;(3) the failure range in 3D mode can be predicted according to the upper bound solutions.

文摘In order to maintain the safety of underground constructions that significantly involve geo-material uncertainties, this paper delivers a new computation framework for conducting reliability-based design(RBD)of shallow tunnel face stability, utilizing a simplified inverse first-order reliability method(FORM).The limit state functions defining tunnel face stability are established for both collapse and blow-out modes of the tunnel face failure, respectively, and the deterministic results of the tunnel face support pressure are obtained through three-dimensional finite element limit analysis(FELA).Because the inverse reliability method can directly capture the design support pressure according to prescribed target reliability index, the computational cost for probabilistic design of tunnel face stability is greatly reduced.By comparison with Monte Carlo simulation results, the accuracy and feasibility of the proposed method are verified.Further, this study presents a series of reliability-based design charts for vividly understanding the limit support pressure on tunnel face in both cohesionless(sandy)soil and cohesive soil stratums, and their optimal support pressure ranges are highlighted. The results show that in the case of sandy soil stratum, the blowout failure of tunnel face is extremely unlikely, whereas the collapse is the only possible failure mode. The parametric study of various geotechnical uncertainties also reveals that ignoring the potential correlation between soil shear strength parameters will lead to over-designed support pressure, and the coefficient of variation of internal friction angle has a greater influence on the tunnel face failure probability than that of the cohesion.
