Decomposition rates and release dynamics of nutrients Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn and P were observed separately at all three sites for I to 2 a periods. The leaf litter mass loss of liaotong oak was simulated with Olson's exponential model. Significant differences of leaf litter mass loss were found in forests of all three climate zones. Litter decomposition was accelerated with the increase of both annual mean precipitation and temperature. Our results agreed with other studies demonstrating that litter decomposition processes were greatly affected not only by soil organisms (including soil fauna and microorganisms), but also by chemical factors. These chemical factors were important for controlling the release of nutrients, especially elements of Fe and Mn. We also found that Fe and Mn content increased in semi-decayed leaf litter as litter mass decreased. This result was presumably due to chelating process which accumulated soil Fe and Mn ions into the decomposing litter. In conclusion, our study allowed us to determine the classification of the characteristics of different nutrient release patterns.展开更多

Ontake, Japan showed the similar qualities of two type litters in later stages (after the 30th month). Although the difference in remaining mass between the two litters was larger in later stage of decomposition and initial concentration of nutrients was different. The concentrations of carbon (C) fraction and nutrients between the two types of litter tended to similar in the later stages. The similar concentration trend of nutrients was due to different mechanisms. Nitrogen (N) was due to immobilization of fungi and binding with lignin. K and Mg were leaching elements. They were very easily affected in leaching process. In the later stage, they reached a similar concentration because of a balance with the soil concentration. Ca is a construction element, so its behavior has closely related to that of C fractions. Moreover, C fractions were lignified or humuified and remained similar in later stage, Ca was also became similar in concentration in the later stage.展开更多

文摘To better understand the effects of ground-level ozone(O_(3))on nutrients and stoichiometry in different plant organs, urban tree species Celtis sinensis,Cyclocarya paliu-rus,Quercus acutissima, and Quercus nuttallii were sub-jected to a constant exposure to charcoal-filtered air(CF),nonfiltered air(NF),or NF+40,60,or 80 nmol O_(3)mol^(-1)(NF40,NF60,and NF80)starting early in the summer of the growing season. At the end of summer, net CO_(2)assimila-tion rate(A),stomatal conductance(gs),leaf mass per area(LMA),and/or leaf greenness(SPAD)either were not sig-nificantly affected by elevated O_(3)or were even higher in some cases during the summer compared with the CF or NF controls.LMA was significantly lower in autumn only after the highest O_(3)exposures.Compared to NF,NF40 caused a large increase in gs across species in late summer and more K and Mn in stems. At the end of the growing season,nutri-ent status and stoichiometric ratios in different organs were variously altered under O_(3)stress;many changes were large and often species-specific.Across O_(3)treatments,LMA was primarily associated with C and Mg levels in leaves and Ca levels in leaves and stems.NF40 enriched K,P,Fe,and Mn in stems, relative to NF,and NF60 enhanced Ca in leaves relative to CF and NF40.Moreover,NF resulted in a higher Ca/Mg ratio in leaves of Q.acutissima only, relative to the other O_(3)regimes.Interestingly,across species,O_(3)stress led to different nutrient modifications in different organs(stems+branches vs leaves). Thus, ambient and/or elevated O_(3)exposures can alter the dynamics and distribution of nutrients and disrupt stoichiometry in different organs in a species-specific manner.Changes in stoichiometry reflect an important defense mechanism in plants under O_(3),and O_(3)pollution adds more risk to ecological stoichiometries in urban areas.

文摘Leaf thickness in rice critically influences photosynthetic efficiency and yield, yet its genetic basis remains poorly understood, with few functional genes previously characterized. In this study,we employ a pangenome-wide association study(Pan-GWAS)on 302 diverse rice accessions from southern China, identifying 49 quantitative trait loci(QTLs)associated with leaf thickness. The most significant locus,qLT9,is fine-mapped to a 79-kb region on chromosome 9.Transcriptomic and genomic sequence analyses identify LOC_Os09g33480,which encodes a protein belonging to Multiple Organellar RNA Editing Factor family,as the key candidate gene.Overexpression and complementation transgenic experiments confirm LOC_Os09g33480(OsLT9)as the functional gene underlying qLT9,demonstrating a 24-bp Indel in its promoter correlates with the expression levels and leaf thickness.Notably,OsLT9 overexpression lines show not only thicker leaf, but also significantly enhanced photosynthetic efficiency and grain yield, establishing a link between leaf thickness modulation and yield enhancement.Population genomic analyses indicate strong selection for OsLT9 during domestication and breeding, with modern cultivars favoring thick leaf haplotype of OsLT9.This study establishes OsLT9 as a key regulator controlling leaf thickness in rice, and provides a valuable genetic resource for molecular breeding of high-yielding rice through optimization of plant architecture.

文摘Leaf angle is a pivotal agronomic trait that significantly influences crop architecture and yield.Plant hormones, such as auxin, play a critical role in regulating leaf angle;however, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain to be fully elucidated. Here,we reveal that the auxin response factor gene,OsARF12,which is highly expressed in the leaf lamina joint, negatively regulates rice(Oryza sativa L.)leaf angle via affecting shoot gravitropism.Overexpression lines of OsARF12 exhibit more erect leaf angles, while the osarf12 mutants display enlarged leaf angles compared to the wild type.Further studies demonstrate that OsARF12 directly activates the expression of Loose Plant Architecture1(LPA1)and LAZY1 by binding to their promoters. The osarf12 mutant presents impaired shoot gravitropism,a phenotype consistent with that of the lpa1 and lazy1 mutants.Collectively,we elucidate the biological functions of OsARF12,which modulates leaf angle through its impact on shoot gravitropism by regulating the expression levels of LPA1 and LAZY1.This study provides insight into the role of auxin in determining rice leaf angle, potentially holding profound effects for the optimization of crop architecture.

文摘Understanding the spatial distributions and corresponding variation mechanisms of key soil nutrients in fragile karst ecosystems can assist in promoting sustainable development. However, due to the implementation of ecological restoration initiatives such as land-use conversions, novel changes in the spatial characteristics of soil nutrients remain unknown. To address this gap,we explored nutrient variations and the drivers of the variation in the 0–15 cm topsoil layer using a regional-scale sampling method in a typical karst area in northwest Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,Southwest China.Descriptive statistics, geostatistics, and spatial analysis were used to assess the soil nutrient variability. The results indicated that soil organic carbon(SOC),total nitrogen(TN),total phosphorus(TP),and total potassium(TK)concentrations showed moderate variations, with coefficients of variance being 0.60,0.60,0.71,and 0.72,respectively.Moreover,they demonstrated positive spatial autocorrelations, with global Moran's indices being 0.68,0.77,0.64,and 0.68,respectively.However,local Moran's index values were low, indicating large spatial variations in soil nutrients. The best-fitting semi-variogram models for SOC,TN,TP,and TK concentrations were spherical,Gaussian, exponential, and exponential, respectively.According to the classification criteria of the Second National Soil Census in China,SOC and TN concentrations were relatively sufficient, with the proportions of rich and very rich levels being up to 90.9 and 96.0%,respectively.TP concentration was in the mediumdeficient level, with the areas of medium and deficient levels accounting for 33.7 and 30.1%of the total, respectively.TK concentration was deficient, with the cumulative area of extremely deficient, very deficient, and deficient levels accounting for 87.6%of the total area.Consequently, the terrestrial ecosystems in the study area were more vulnerable to soil P and K than soil N deficiencies.Furthermore, variance partitioning analysis of the influencing factors showed that, except for the interactions, the single effect of other soil properties accounted more for soil nutrient variations than spatial and environmental variables. These results will aid in the future management of terrestrial ecosystems.

文摘Nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)are essential nutrients and can significantly impact primary productivity of the ecosystem causing water environmental problems. However, their cycling mechanisms are not well understood in alpine mountains with climate change.Hence,94 samples of river water were collected from 2018 to 2020 in the headwaters of the Shule River Basin to assess the nutrients spatiotemporal distribution and combined ap-proach of water quality index to assess water quality and potential sources. The findings depict that high nutrient concentrations were found to coincide with snowmelt and glacial meltwater and rainfall recharge periods, while total flux peaked from June to September due to increased runoff.Notably, total nitrogen(TN)concentrations were significantly higher near the town, primarily attributed to the replenishment of nitrate(NO_(3)^(‒)-N)from live-stock manure. The high total P(TP)was near the glacier, which was attributed to the transportation of glacial sediments into the river, and pH was another critical factor.N was the primary nutrient limiting factor for the growth of phytoplankton in river water.Although the migration and transport of nutrients have altered with climate change, river water quality is good in alpine mountains based on an overall evaluation. These findings contribute to enriching nutrient datasets and highlight the importance of water resource management and water quality assessment in sensitive and fragile alpine mountains.

文摘Nutrients play a crucial role in sustaining marine ecosystems and supporting mariculture, especially in seaweed aquaculture.Currently, seaweed farming, such as kelp cultivation,is entirely dependent on the natural supply of nutrients.Sanggou Bay in Shandong Peninsula,Yellow Sea,is renowned for its 60-year history of kelp cultivation;however,it is recently facing an increasing demand for nitrogen and phosphorus due to the expansion in aquaculture scale and production. There is no doubt that nutrient addition can enhance and sustain the production, but it is crucial to understand its effect on kelp growth under current nutrients condition and the potential ecological risks. Our in-field nutrient enrichment experiments show that nitrogen and phosphorus additions promoted the kelp biomass during the early growth stages, and have no adverse effects on phytoplankton or seawater nutrient levels throughout the experiment. From a long-term perspective, increasing nutrient supply appears to be an essential strategy for sustaining the aquaculture of kelp.

文摘The establishment of plantations has become a critical approach for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in fragile environments with carbon sequestration potential. In karst areas, plantations based on fastgrowing afforestation species made significant contributions to enhancing carbon sequestration. However, the impact of understory vegetation on carbon accumulation remains unclear.Especially, the carbon accumulation associated with litter produced during the replacement of understory species receives insufficient attention, which leads to the neglect of the carbon sequestration potential in plantations of karst areas.Leaf is a crucial organ that links the litter production. To explore how leaf traits adapt to competitive environments and drive litter carbon accumulation during understory species replacement, this study observed leaf traits and litter carbon content changes in three types of plantations in the Liujiang River Basin,a typical karst area.A total of 37 sampling plots were selected for field investigation over a twoyear period.Leaf traits, species diversity, vegetation coverage, and litter carbon characteristics in understory vegetation were measured.Variance analysis, allometric equations, and path analysis were used for data analysis. The results showed that most understory species adopted a biomass conservation strategy under high-coverage conditions(>44.27%)and expanded competitive leaf area under low-coverage conditions(<44.27%).However,Bidens pilosa and Miscanthus floridulus exhibited strong competitiveness during understory species replacement. They showed an expansion of competitive leaf area under high-coverage conditions. This competitive strategy reduced species diversity and community specific leaf area. But the rapid expansion of Bidens pilosa and Miscanthus floridulus increased understory vegetation coverage, and their increased specific leaf area facilitated leaf shedding, resulting in significant litter weight accumulation(P<0.05),thereby enhancing litter carbon content per unit area. These competitive strategies were key driving factors for the increase in litter carbon content per square meter, which reached a maximum of 49.6% higher than that in natural grasslands. And the maximum increase in litter carbon accumulation derived from understory vegetation reached 3.37 times from 2023 to 2024 in plantations. In the understory vegetation of plantations, the competitive strategies reflected by leaf adaptation of key competitive species are critical factors influencing litter carbon accumulation.Future research could deeply explore the carbon sequestration effects resulting from the dynamic changes in competition within the understory vegetation of plantations.

文摘The trade-off between leaf size and leafing intensity(i.e.,the number of leaves per unit stem size)is a key axis of trait covariation across the diversity of plant foliage deployment. However, the functional significance of leafing intensity and its possible combinations with leaf size in dealing with water limitation remains unclear.Using Populus euphratica as an illustrative tree species growing in hyper-arid climates,we investigated how leaf size and leafing intensity co-varied under varying water stresses. In the Ebinor lowlands and the upper reaches of the Tarim River(NW China),we sampled>1800 current-year twigs from 505 trees across 14 sites along a climatic gradient characterized by precipitation, potential evapotranspiration and vapor pressure deficit.Leafing intensity based on stem mass(LIM)decreased with climatic aridity, primarily due to greater stem mass, but not fewer leaves. This indicates a higher investment in structural support for leaf attachment under water stress. Both leaf area and mass decreased with LIM at a lower-than-proportional rate, with the decrease in leaf size being more pronounced under drier climates. This suggests that higher LIM incurs a high cost of reducing leaf size in water-limited habitats. These findings challenge the assumption that higher leafing intensity always confers an advantage ready for environmental stresses due to higher developmental flexibility offered by more axillary buds.Rather,we propose that a strategy of lower leafing intensity, with greater structural support for leaf attachment and less compromise in leaf size, can be advantageous under water limitation.

文摘Urban forests are highly multifunctional and provide numerous ecological functions.Plant functional traits individually or jointly influence the ecological multifunctionality of tree species(TS-EMF)and can also modify TSEMF in response to environmental changes. However, there has been limited exploration of multitrait combinations for predicting TS-EMF across seasons and of trait thresholds that enhance TS-EMF.Here,for 10 dominant tree species in urban forests of Northeast China,14 traits were measured and four aboveground and three belowground ecological functions assessed in three seasons.Ecological functions and TS-EMF differed significantly throughout the seasons(P<0.05).Synergistic relationships were found between carbon sequestration and oxygen release, between cooling and humidification, and between organic carbon accumulation and nutrient cycling.Notably, aboveground multifunctionality played a leading role in TS-EMF.With seasonal changes, resource allocation shifted toward traits related to resource acquisition rather than conservation to maintain TS-EMF.The combination of traits that predicted TS-EMF varied by type, accounting for up to 66.45%of the variation.TS-EMF was primarily driven by leaf structure in spring and by nutrient accumulation in autumn.Leaf carbon content(LCC)consistently served as a stabilizing factor for predicting TS-EMF across seasons. At 36.5-36.8 mg g^(-1),LCC had its optimal effect on TS-EMF.Other traits in combination that positively influence total TS-EMF include leaf nitrogen content(3.43-3.45 mg g^(-1)),leaf phosphorus content(0.80-0.83 mg g^(-1)),and leaf area(65.86-68.43 cm^(2)).Within these specified trait thresholds,Morus alba and Quercus mongolica were identified as key species. These findings suggest that the trade-off between various ecological functions can be managed by altering plant traits across seasons. This approach could provide a theoretical foundation for enhancing the TS-EMF of urban forests through trait-based management, offering practical guidance for selecting tree species.

文摘Substrate and nutrient supply are essential for vegetable cultivation in greenhouse. The strategies for plant nutrient supply vary depending on the cultivation methods or substrate dosages employed. With the development of mechanization,wide-row spacing substrate cultivation became an optimize mode of the greenhouse cucumber cultivation, aligning with the trend of intelligent agriculture. To determine the optimal nutrient solution supply amount(NS)and supply frequency(SF)for promoting the integrated growth of cucumber under wide-row spacing substrate cultivation,we explored the effects of substrate supply amount(SS),NS,and SF on cucumber yield, quality, and element utilization efficiency.A five-level quadratic orthogonal rotation combination design with three experimental factors(NS,SF,and SS)was implemented for 23 coupling treatments over three growing seasons, including spring(2022S and 2023S)and autumn(2022A).The technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution(TOPSIS)combining weights based on game theory was applied to construct cucumber comprehensive growth evaluation model.Single and two experimental factors analyses revealed significant effects of single factors and the coupling of NS-SS,NS-SF and SS-SF on the integrated growth of cucumber for all three growing seasons. For the NS-SF-SS combination, the optimal parameters for comprehensive cucumber growth were determined as follows:levels of^(-1).68 for NS,-0.7 for SF,and^(-1).682 for SS in 2022A;-0.43 for NS,-0.06 for SF,and 0.34 for SS in 2022S;0.3 for NS,-0.02 for SF,and 0.04 for SS in 2023S.Furthermore,for SS ranges of 2.00-3.01,3.01-4.50,4.50-5.99,5.99-7.00(L·plant^(-1)),the corresponding NS and SF intervals maximizing cucumber integrated growth in spring were:0.28-0.30(L·plant^(-1))and 6(times·d^(-1)),0.26-0.30(L·plant^(-1))and 6(times·d^(-1)),0.25-0.30(L·plant^(-1))and 6(times·d^(-1)),0.23-0.30(L·plant^(-1))and 6(times·d^(-1)),respectively.With the same SS,the corresponding NS and SF intervals that maximized cucumber integrated growth in autumn were:0.10(L·plant^(-1))and 8(times·d^(-1)),0.18(L·plant^(-1))and 7(times·d^(-1)),0.30(L·plant^(-1))and 6(times·d^(-1)),0.49(L·plant^(-1))and 5(times·d^(-1)),respectively.The results provide a theoretical basis for solution management, and further in-depth research on cucumber cultivation.

文摘Background As living standards improve, consumers are placing greater emphasis on the enhancement of fish flesh quality, making its improvement increasingly critical.Plant-derived polysaccharides positively affect the improvement of animal flesh quality.Panax ginseng leaf polysaccharides(PGLP)have a similar composition and lower cost compared with Panax ginseng root polysaccharides. However, its function and application effects in grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella)are unclear. Methods A total of 540 sub-adult grass carp(679±1.29 g),one of the important economic fish species, were used as experimental models and fed diets supplemented with 0,100,200,300,400,or 500 mg/kg PGLP for 60 d.After 60 d,grass carp were weighed, and their muscles were collected to explore the effects of PGLP on the growth and development of myofibers and energy metabolism-related parameters. Results Our study found that PGLP increased the growth performance and muscle nutritional composition as well as improved muscle hardness, springiness, cohesiveness, chewiness, and hyperplasia of myofibers of sub-adult grass carp.Besides,PGLP promoted muscle energy metabolism by increasing creatine, glycogen, pyruvate, and acetyl-CoA contents and creatine kinase(CK),pyruvate kinase(PK),phosphofructokinase(PFK),and hexokinase(HK)activities, while decreasing lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)activity and lactate content in fish muscle. Finally, our study found that PGLP enhanced mitochondrial function by increasing the protein expression of mitochondrial complexes I–V,biogenesis, and fusion and decreasing autophagy and fission in fish muscle. Conclusions PGLP improved growth performance and flesh quality of sub-adult grass carp, which may be related to enhancing hyperplasia of myofibers by promoting energy metabolism. We concluded that the recommended amount of PGLP in sub-adult grass carp feed to optimize growth performance is 100–200 mg/kg.This study provides a theoretical basis for the application of PGLP in fish feed and for the analysis of the mechanism of nutrition and feed regulating fish flesh quality, which is of great significance.

文摘Understanding plant responses under low-pressure conditions is important for developing closed cultivation systems that simulate space environments. This study aimed to assess the effects of different pressure levels on growth, photosynthesis, and secondary metabolite accumulation in red leaf lettuce(Lactuca sativa L.var.‘Super Caesar’s Red’).Plants were cultivated for three weeks in sealed chambers under 101 kPa(atmospheric pressure),66 kPa(moderate low pressure),and 33 kPa(severe low pressure).Growth analysis showed that leaf length and leaf area decreased significantly with reduced pressure, while chlorophyll content and SPAD values increased gradually.Photosynthetic measurements indicated lower transpiration and stomatal conductance under low pressure relative to atmospheric conditions, consistent with reduced stomatal size and density observed by SEM.Secondary metabolite analysis showed strong induction of anthocyanins(41.3%at 66 kPa and 190.8%at 33 kPa),with significant increases in phenolic and flavonoid contents.Thus,low-pressure conditions may suppress morphological growth but promote secondary metabolite contents, offering potential advantages for quality-oriented cultivation strategies. This study provides fundamental insights into physiological adaptation under low pressure and practical implications for crop selection and management in space agriculture and other controlled environments.

文摘[Objective] To provide scientific basis for high phosphorus efficiency cultivation and regulation of rice. [Method] Changbai9 (CB9) and Jijing81 (JJ81) were used as experimental materials for pot experiment, and five levels of phosphorus nutrient ( Po - P4 ) were set for each variety, the net photosynthesis rate, Chlorophyll Meter Readings (SPAD Readings), stomatal conductance, transpiration rate, intercellular CO2 concentration, and stomatal limitation were observed and compared between five different phosphorus levels at filling stage. [ Result] The net photosynthesis rate of CB9 reached the highest at P3, and was significantly different from other treatments (P 〈0.05);the net photosynthesis rate of groups with phosphorus of J J81 were higher than that of the control group, and reached the highest at P,. The SPAD Readings of CB9 and JJ81 all achieved the highest at P3, and stomatal conductance and transpiration rate were all at first increased then decreased with the phosphor- us increased in CB9 and JJ81. With the phosphorus increased, intercellular CO2 concentration of CB9 decreased at first and then increased, while in JJ81 the trend was inversed, but the tendency of intercellular CO2 concentration were opposite to that of stomatal limitation in both culti- vars. [ Conclusion] Appropriate adding phosphorus could improve photosynthetic characteristic of rice flag-leaf,but displayed significant genotypic difference.
文摘Leaf litter decomposition of liaotong oak (Quercus liaotungensis Koize) under temperate, subtropical and tropical forests was examined using a litter bag technique. In conclusion, our study allowed us to determine the classification of the characteristics of different nutrient release patterns.

文摘[ Objective] Correlation of microstructure of leaf sheath epidermis and nutrient composition of palm plants with the damage degree of red palm fiber elephant in four kinds of plants in Nanning were analyzed in order to control the occurrence and damage of this insect in Nanning. [Method] Taken 4 kinds of Palmae plants in Nanning including Ravenea fivulafis, Washingtonia filifera, Phoenix canafiensis, Roystonea regia (HBK.)O. F. Cook as materials, damage situation of the red palm fiber elephant was investigated, microstructure of leaf sheath epidermis and nutrient composition of palm plants were analyzed and determined. [ Result] The results showed that there was direct correlation between the microstructure of leaf sheath epidermis and nutrient composition with the physical resistance of palm plant against red palm fiber elephant. The extend of damage from red palm fiber elephant had negatively relation with the thickness of corneum and leaf epidermis. The damage degree caused by red palm fiber elephant increased with the content of crude protein, crude ash and nitrogen free extract increasing, also increased with the content of rude fiber decreasing. [Condusion] The damage degree of red palm fiber elephant had a relationship with microstructure of leaf sheath epidermis and nutrient composition of palm plants.
文摘A litter bag study of needle (Abies veitchii Lindl. and A. mariesi Mast.) and leaf litter (Betula ermanii Cham. and B. corylifolia Regal. et Maxim.) conducted in a coniferous forest of Mt. Moreover, C fractions were lignified or humuified and remained similar in later stage, Ca was also became similar in concentration in the later stage.
