Compared with traditional approaches such as ontology integration and mapping, the proposed approach can reduce the implementation complexity. This approach can be mainly divided into three phases: ontology context determination for a given term, ontology semantic similarity computation between ontology terms, and ontology context immigration. As for a local semantic term based on distributed ontologies, an appropriate ontology context of the term is determined and extracted from a local ontology most associated with the term by using semantic similarity computation. Then, the ontology context is dynamically immigrated to the source ontology for enriching semantic information related to the term. A system called distributed knowledge sharing system(DKSS) is developed to illustrate this approach. The system adopts multi-agent technology for better communication and coordination between different ontology information sources. The experimental results show that it is efficient for distributed ontology knowledge sharing. The proposed approach does not require the support of a global ontology or the maintenance of complex ontology mapping relations, and thus it has better maintainability and scalability.展开更多

First, problems and characteristics of knowledge sharing in multi-projects of chemical engineering design are analyzed. Then based on theories of project management, process management, and knowledge management, a process-oriented knowledge-sharing platform is proposed. The platform has three characteristics: knowledge is divided into professional knowledge and project management knowledge; knowledge sharing is integrated with the project process, which makes knowledge sharing a necessary part of the project process and ensures the quantity of knowledge shared; the platform provides quantitative measurements of incentive mechanisms for knowledge providers and users which ensures the quality of knowledge shared. This knowledge-sharing platform uses two knowledge management tools, a knowledge map and a knowledge base, to support the platform.展开更多

What are the main barriers and incentives for people to share their knowledge, what is the internal mechanism of knowledge sharing, and how people evaluate the benefit coming from knowledge sharing are the core areas in knowledge management. In this paper, we reexamine the knowledge sharing based on knowledge convening and fermenting model. After comparing the process of knowledge movement with that of biotic fermenting, several important attributes that knowledge owns are discovered, they are existence of origination, inheritance and variation, the need of assembly for knowledge evolution and medium for knowledge assemblage. The authors thoroughly analyze the biotic attributes of knowledge, the elements of knowledge share fermenting model, and typical knowledge share fermenting.展开更多

They are different games compared with established technologies with distinctive characteristics of knowledge management in knowledge-based and technological-innovation-based competition. How to obtain knowledge advantage and enhance competences by knowledge sharing for emerging-technology-based strategic alliances (ETBSA) is what we concern in this paper. On the basis of our previous work on emerging technologies' distinctive attributes, we counter the wide spread presumption that the primary purpose of strategic alliances is knowledge acquiring by means of learning. We offers new insight into the knowledge sharing approaches of ETBSAs - the knowledge integrating approach by which each member firm integrates its partner's complementary knowledge base into the products and services and maintains its own knowledge specialization at the same time. So that ETBSAs should plan and practice their knowledge sharing strategies from the angle of knowledge integrating rather than knowledge acquiring. A four-dimensional framework is developed to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of these two knowledge sharing approaches. The current method of disseminating researchers’ knowledge to the communities in the Arusha region in Tanzania is through meetings, workshops, and focus group discussions held by researchers, agricultural extension officers and community members after every three months or during field study. Yet the strategy is inefficient and ineffective in practice. The purpose of this study was to determine the most efficient and successful method of disseminating knowledge in communities. The study began with a qualitative phase, utilizing an interpretive technique and a qualitative multiple case study research design. The Arusha region in Tanzania was selected as a case study where different social activities were undertaken, including farming, livestock keeping, tourism activities and fishing. Individual participants were interviewed by using a semi-structured questionnaire. In addition, focus group discussions were conducted to gather more information regarding the needs of the mobile application. Through the implementation of the application, the second phase of the study led to the development of a mobile application that includes community members, agricultural extension officers, and researchers that will enable anyone to install the application on their mobile phones to access knowledge regarding activities undertaken in Arusha. According to the findings of the first phase of the research, a substantial percentage of community members own mobile phones, and hence a mobile application would be sufficient. The research also found that most researcher-community interactions occur at the data collection and intervention assessment (field trials) stages. Hence, the mobile application will benefit community members, district agricultural, irrigation, and cooperative officers (DAICO), and researchers.展开更多

Hence, the mobile application will benefit community members, district agricultural, irrigation, and cooperative officers (DAICO), and researchers.
