Advancements in MOF-based strategies for breast cancer management:a comprehensive review

Breast cancer is now the most common malignant tumor in females.The application of medical imaging in breast cancer diagnosis has developed rapidly,and surgical and non-surgical treatment options for breast cancer have emerged in abundance.However,challenges remain,including insufficient diagnostic specificity or sensitivity,significant side effects,limited treatment efficacy,and rapid development of drug resistance.Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)possess unique porous structures,tunability,and biocompatibility.These nanomaterials are suitable for drug delivery,photodynamic/thermodynamic/sonodynamic therapy,diagnostic imaging,immune regulation,and bone metastasis inhibition.They can effectively overcome the limitations of traditional diagnostic and therapeutic methods,improve diagnostic accuracy and treatment efficacy,and provide innovative solutions for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.This paper provides a comprehensive review of the applicability of MOFs in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment,from their fundamental properties to specific applications,and thoroughly analyzes their advantages.However,the stability and safety of MOFs in the complex and variable in vivo environment remain significant barriers to clinical translation and require further investigation.We innovatively summarize the multifaceted applications of MOFs in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment,outline their future development directions,such as AI-assisted design and the transition from disease treatment to health management,and build a self-powered system.Providing important references for subsequent research and clinical applications.With technological advancements and deeper research,MOFs hold promise for revolutionary breakthroughs in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment,improving patient treatment outcomes and quality of life. 展开更多
