As a consequence of open cut mine application, a great deal of coal is left out in the highwalls of the mined-out pits. Highwall mining systems can be used to recover this coal. The use of highwall mining systems has increasingly come into play in the US and Australia. However, it is not common in Indonesia. Moreover, Indonesia coal measure is categorized as weak geological condition. Some problems are likely to arise during the application of the highwall mining system for example instability of openings and highwalls due to the roof and pillar failures. Therefore, study of highwall mining system application in Indonesia is needed in order to increase the recovery rate of coal mining in Indonesia. This paper described the characteristics of the highwa!l mining system and discussed the appropriate highwall mining system application in weak geological condition, Indonesia. From the results of a series of laboratory tests and numerical analyses, it can be concluded that the stability of pillars and mine openings in auger mining systems is much higher than that in CHM and an auger mining system is suitable for such as very weak/poor strata conditions. Three study areas are selected to consider different rocks, including gneiss in Jangheung, granite in Sangju and sedimentary rocks in Pohang, South Korea. Many landslides have occurred in these three areas during the rainy season.Precipitation records indicate that landslides occurring in the gneiss area of Jangheung and granite area of Sangju may be influenced by the hourly rainfall intensity rather than cumulative rainfall. However, landslides occurring in the sedimentary rock area of Pohang may be influenced by hourly rainfall intensity and cumulative rainfall. To investigate the factors that influence these types of landslides, a detailed landslide survey was performed and a series of laboratory soil tests were conducted.According to the detailed field survey, most landslides occurred on the flanks of mountain slopes, and the slope inclination where they occurred mostly ranged from 26 to 30 degrees, regardless of the geological conditions. The landslide in the gneiss area of Jangheung is larger than the landslides in the granite area of Sangju and sedimentary rock area of Pohang.Particularly, the landslide in the sedimentary rock area is shorter and shallower than the landslides in the gneiss and granite areas. Thus, the shape and size of the landslide are clearly related to the geological conditions. According to the integrated soil property and landslide occurrence analyses results, the average dry unit weight of the soils from the landslide sites is smaller than that of the soils obtained from the nonlandslide site. The average coefficient of permeability of soils obtained from the landslide sites is greater than that of soils obtained from the non-landslide sites with the same geology. These results indicate that the soils from the landslide sites are more poorly graded or looser than the soils from the non-landslide sites.展开更多

Firstly, the study seeks to determine the natural characteristics of the lagoon, which include factors such as size, depth, water quality, and ecosystem composition. Secondly, the influence of precipitation on the water volume in the lagoon will be examined. This analysis involves assessing historical rainfall patterns in the region, as well as the amount and frequency of precipitation during the 2021 flood event. Thirdly, the hydrogeologic and geologic conditions of the lagoon will be evaluated. This involves examining factors such as the type and structure of the soil and bedrock, the presence of aquifers or other underground water sources, and the movement of water through the surrounding landscape. Finally, the study seeks to assess the risk of future flooding in Tasi-Tolu Lagoon, based on the insights gained from the previous analyses. Overall, this study’s goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the hydrogeological factors that contribute to flooding in Tasi-Tolu Lagoon. This knowledge could be used to inform flood mitigation strategies or to improve our ability to predict and respond to future flooding events in the region.展开更多

An innovative methodology for probabilistic estimation of ground condition and construction time and costs is proposed, which is an integration of the ground prediction approach based on Markov process, and the time and cost variance analysis based on Monte-Carlo (MC) simulation. The former provides the probabilistic description of ground classification along tunnel alignment according to the geological information revealed from geological profile and boreholes. The latter provides the probabilistic description of the expected construction time and costs for each operation according to the survey feedbacks from experts. Then an engineering application to Hamro tunnel is presented to demonstrate how the ground condition and the construction time and costs are estimated in a probabilistic way. In most items, in order to estimate the data needed for this methodology, a number of questionnaires are distributed among the tunneling experts and finally the mean values of the respondents are applied. These facilitate both the owners and the contractors to be aware of the risk that they should carry before construction, and are useful for both tendering and bidding.展开更多

文摘China is home to shales of three facies:Marine shale, continental shale, and marine-continental transitional shale.Different types of shale gas are associated with significantly different formation conditions and major controlling factors. This study compared the geological characteristics of various shales and analyzed the influences of different parameters on the formation and accumulation of shale gas.In general, shales in China’s several regions exhibit high total organic carbon(TOC)contents, which lays a sound material basis for shale gas generation.Marine strata generally show high degrees of thermal evolution. In contrast, continental shales manifest low degrees of thermal evolution, necessitating focusing on areas with relatively high degrees of thermal evolution in the process of shale gas surveys for these shales. The shales of the Wufeng and Silurian formations constitute the most favorable shale gas reservoirs since they exhibit the highest porosity among the three types of shales. These shales are followed by those in the Niutitang and Longtan formations. In contrast, the shales of the Doushantuo,Yanchang, and Qingshankou formations manifest low porosities.Furthermore, the shales of the Wufeng and Longmaxi formations exhibit high brittle mineral contents.Despite a low siliceous mineral content, the shales of the Doushantuo Formation feature a high carbonate mineral content, which can increase the shales’brittleness to some extent. For marine-continental transitional shales, where thin interbeds of tight sandstone with unequal thicknesses are generally found,it is recommended that fracturing combined with drainage of multiple sets of lithologic strata should be employed to enhance their shale gas production.

文摘The goal of this study is to determine the geometrical and geotechnical characteristics of landslides under various geological conditions using detailed field surveys, laboratory soil tests and precipitation records. These results indicate that the soils from the landslide sites are more poorly graded or looser than the soils from the non-landslide sites.
文摘By combining the practices of deep mine mining in Changguang Mine field and using the Universal Distinct Element Code 3 0(UDEC3 0) numerical computing method, the distribution characteristics of deformation field and stress field as well as the surrounding rock deformation regularity of soft rock roadway are analyzed under extremely complicated geological conditions, a technical principle of bolting to control the surrounding rock of roadway is put forward. And also using a dynamic control for surrounding rocks designing method, the supporting parameters and implement plan are rationally determined. The experimental tests have obtained a good controlling result of surrounding rock.
文摘There is a great difference between the distribution and evolvement characteristics of slope geological hazard in the same geographical location and climatic conditions, taking the similar structural-genetic connection in Wudongde reservoir area of Jinshajiang River valley for example. In all engineering geological conditions, the chronologic age and attitude of strata, and the lithologic association factors control the distributions and evolvement characteristics of slope geological hazard in the studied area. The study shows that the slopes in geological evolution are in different stages. The conclusion helps to understand the types and the intensity of geological disasters.

文摘Many researchers worked a lot on geologic conditions for lateral sealing of faults, but none of their studies took the effect of internal structures of fault zones on the lateral sealing capacity of faults. Therefore, the lateral sealing of active faults has rarely been discussed. In this paper, based on the analysis of the composition and structure characteristics of fault fillings, the geological conditions for lateral sealing of active faults and relevant research method were discussed in reference to the lateral sealing mechanisms of inactive fault rocks. It is shown that,in order to satisfy geologically the lateral sealing of active faults, the faults should be antithetic and the faulted strata should be mainly composed of mudstone,so that the displacement pressure of fault fillings is higher than or equal to that of reservoir rocks in oil and gas migration block. Then,a research method for the lateral sealing of active faults was established by comparing the displacement pressure of fillings in the fault with that of reservoir rocks in oil and gas migration block. This method was applied to three antithetic faults(F1,F2 and F3)in No.1 structure of the Nanpu Sag,Bohai Bay Basin. As revealed, the fillings of these three active faults were mostly argillaceous at the stage of natural gas accu-mulation(the late stage of Neogene Minghuazhen Fm sedimentation),and their displacement pressures were higher than that of reservoir rocks in the first member of Paleogene Dongying Fm(F1 and F3)and the Neogene Guantao Fm(F2).Accordingly,they are laterally sealed for natural gas, which is conducive to the accumulation and preservation of natural gas.Industrial gas flow has been produced from the first member of Paleogene Dongying Fm in Well Np101,the Guantao Fm in Well Np1-2 and the first member of Paleogene Dongying Fm in Well Np1,which is in agreement with the analysis result. It is verified that this method is feasible for investigating the lateral sealing of active faults.
文摘This foundation pit project is located in the flood plain area of the Yangtze River in Hexi, Nanjing, with complicated geological conditions, high underground water level, ultra-thick sand layer and rock entry. The foundation pit adopts a 50m-deep TRD underground water soil mixing wall and a 15m-deep MJS construction pile as the waterproof curtain outside the foundation pit. This paper discusses the construction technology of TRD combined with MJS waterproof curtain and the technical measures such as design optimization, equipment configuration, main process parameters, construction points, construction difficulties and treatment measures in the construction process, which largely solves the difficult problems of crossing ultra-deep fine sand layer, gravel layer and eventually entering rock, and the construction is difficult, and achieves good construction effect.
文摘The further development of society depends on the support of energy. Based on China's economic construction system, the importance of coal mines can not be ignored. With the increasing demand for coal, the demand for mining is also increasing. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the safety and stability of coal mining with the help of tunneling support technology, and complete the core goal of coal mining under complex geological conditions. Based on this, this paper explores the efficient coal mine excavation support technology in complex terrain, hoping to provide some feasible reference opinions for the majority of colleagues.

文摘Offshore carbon dioxide(CO_(2))geological storage is a promising strategy for reducing carbon emissions and supporting sustainable development in coastal regions within a carbon neutrality framework. However, only a few works have focused on offshore basins in China. To address this gap, this study established a dual indicator system that comprises necessary and critical indices and is integrated with the analytic hierarchy process.A coupled analysis was then performed to evaluate the suitability of 10 offshore sedimentary basins in China for CO_(2)geological storage. The necessary indicator system focuses on storage potential, geological conditions, and engineering feasibility.Meanwhile, the critical indicator system emphasizes the safety of storage projects and the viability of drilling operations.Evaluation results revealed that China's offshore basins have undergone two geological evolution stages, namely, the rifting and post-rifting phases, leading to the formation of a dual-layer structure characterized by faulted lower layers and sagged upper layers. These basins have thick and widespread Cenozoic strata, generally low seismic activity, and medium-to-low geothermal gradients. They form five reservoir-caprock systems with favorable geological conditions for CO_(2)storage.The Pearl River Mouth,East China Sea Shelf, and Bohai Basins emerged as primary candidates that offer substantial storage potential to support carbon neutrality goals in the Bohai Rim Economic Zone,Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone, and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Beibu Gulf and South Yellow Sea Basins were identified as secondary candidates, and the Qiongdongnan and Yinggehai Basins were considered potential alternatives.
文摘This study aims to apply a hydrogeological approaches and analysis of the 2021 flood event of Tasi-Tolu Lagoon to achieve four specific goals. This knowledge could be used to inform flood mitigation strategies or to improve our ability to predict and respond to future flooding events in the region.

文摘The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau located in the Tethyan tectonic domain is the best developed region of Mesozoic and Cenozoic marine sediments in China. The Qiangtang basin is the biggest and relatively stable area of the plateau. Triassic and Jurassic hydrocarbon source rocks are extensively distributed in the basin. There exist good dolomite and organic reef reservoirs and mudstone and evaporite cap rocks, as well as well-developed structural traps in the basin; in addition destroyed petroleum traps have been discovered. Therefore, the conditions of petroleum geology in the Qiangtang basin are excellent
文摘Ground condition and construction (excavation and support) time and costs are the key factors in decision-making during planning and design phases of a tunnel project. These facilitate both the owners and the contractors to be aware of the risk that they should carry before construction, and are useful for both tendering and bidding.

文摘Surface ground motion produced by underground blasts is significantly influenced by near-surface geological conditions.However,near-surface low-propagation velocity layers were always ignored in past analyses of ground motions due to their thin thickness. With the rising concern about surface ground motions produced by the ascendant scale and frequentness of underground excavation and mining, close attention is gradually paid to ground blast vibrations. Therefore, systemic experiments were conducted and took seven months in an underground mine to clarify the variation of motion from underground rock to surface ground. The attenuation of surface ground peak particle velocities(PPVs)is compared to that in underground rock, and horizontal amplitudes are compared to vertical amplitudes.Differences between bedrock and surface ground vibrations are analyzed to illustrate the site effect of near-surface lower-propagation velocity layers.One-dimensional site response analysis is employed to quantify the influence of different geological profiles on surface ground vibrations. The experimental data and site response analysis allowed the following conclusions:(1)geological site effects mainly produce decreasing dominant frequency(DF)of surface ground vibrations;(2)the site amplification effect of blast vibration needs to be characterized by peak particle displacement(PPD);(3)shear waves(S-waves)begin to dominate and surface Rayleigh waves(R-waves)develop as blast-induced ground vibrations travel upward through rock and lower-velocity layers to the surface. The comparison of response relative displacement to a critical value is best to assess the potential for cracking on surface structures.
