Functional generalized estimating equation model to detect glaucomatous visual field progression

AIM:To build a functional generalized estimating equation(GEE)model to detect glaucomatous visual field progression and compare the performance of the proposed method with that of commonly employed algorithms.METHODS:... AIM:To build a functional generalized estimating equation(GEE)model to detect glaucomatous visual field progression and compare the performance of the proposed method with that of commonly employed algorithms.METHODS:Totally 716 eyes of 716 patients with primary open angle glaucoma(POAG)with at least 5 reliable 24-2 test results and 2y of follow-up were selected.The functional GEE model was used to detect perimetric progression in the training dataset(501 eyes).In the testing dataset(215 eyes),progression was evaluated the functional GEE model,mean deviation(MD)and visual field index(VFI)rates of change,Advanced Glaucoma Intervention Study(AGIS)and Collaborative Initial Glaucoma Treatment Study(CIGTS)scores,and pointwise linear regression(PLR).RESULTS:The proposed method showed the highest proportion of eyes detected as progression(54.4%),followed by the VFI rate(34.4%),PLR(23.3%),and MD rate(21.4%).The CIGTS and AGIS scores had a lower proportion of eyes detected as progression(7.9%and 5.1%,respectively).The time to detection of progression was significantly shorter for the proposed method than that of other algorithms(adjusted P≤0.019).The VFI rate displayed moderate pairwise agreement with the proposed method(k=0.47).CONCLUSION:The functional GEE model shows the highest proportion of eyes detected as perimetric progression and the shortest time to detect perimetric progression in patients with POAG. 展开更多

In this article,a Generalized Calogero-Bogoyavlenskii-Schiff(CBS)equation is studied,serving as an extended shallow water wave model in higher dimensions.Firstly,utilizing the Bell polynomial method,the bilinear form of the equation,bilinear Bäcklund transformation,Lax pair and infinite conservation laws are derived,confirming the equation’s complete integrability in the context of the Lax pair.Subsequently,the nonlinear superposition formula of the equation is constructed based on the derived bilinear Bäcklund transformation and an array of infinite superposition soliton solutions of the equation are formulated using this nonlinear superposition formula.Lastly,leveraging the obtained bilinear equation,infinite superposition solutions of various functional types are constructed.Their dynamic characteristics are analyzed through illustrated solution images.It is noteworthy that this paper not only uncovers a multitude of properties through the Bell polynomial method but also derives both infinite linear and nonlinear superposition solutions,enriching the diversity of solutions,these aspects have not been previously explored in existing literature. 展开更多

We presents a generalized(2+1)-dimensional Sharma-Tasso-Olver-Burgers(STOB)equation,unifying dissipative and dispersive wave dynamics.By introducing an auxiliary potential𝑦as a new space variable and employing a simpler deformation algorithm,we deform the(1+1)-dimensional STOB model to higher dimensions.The resulting equation is proven Lax-integrable via introducing strong and weak Lax pairs.Traveling wave solutions of the(2+1)-dimensional STOB equation are derived through an ordinary differential equation reduction,with implicit solutions obtained for a special case.Crucially,we demonstrate that the system admits dispersionless decompositions into two types:Case 1 yields non-traveling twisted kink and bell solitons,while Case 2 involves complex implicit functions governed by cubic-algebraic constraints.Numerical visualizations reveal novel anisotropic soliton structures,and the decomposition methodology is shown to generalize broadly to other higher dimensional dispersionless decomposition solvable integrable systems. 展开更多

This paper investigates the orbital stability of periodic traveling wave solutions to the generalized Zakharov equations {iu +uxx = uv + |u|^2u, vtt-vxx=(|u|^2)xx.First, we prove the existence of a smooth curve of positive traveling wave solutions of dnoidal type with a fixed fundamental period L for the generalized Zakharov equations. Then, by using the classical method proposed by Benjamin, Bona et al., we show that this solution is orbitally stable by perturbations with period L. The results on the orbital stability of periodic traveling wave solutions for the generalized Zakharov equations in this paper can be regarded as a perfect extension of the results of [15, 16, 19]. 展开更多

Through the d... Kortweg-de Vries (KdV)-typed equations have been used to describe certain nonlinear phenomena in fluids and plasmas. Generalized complex coupled KdV (GCCKdV) equations are investigated in this paper. Through the dependent variable transformations and symbolic computation, GCCKdV equations are transformed into their bilinear forms, based on which the one- and two-soliton solutions are obtained. Through the interactions of two solitons, the regular elastic collision are shown. When the wave numbers are complex, three kinds of solitonie collisions are presented: (i) two solitons merge and separate from each other periodically; (ii) two solitons exhibit the attraction and repulsion nearly twice, and finally separate from each other after such type of interaction; (iii) two solitons are ftuctuant in the central region of the collision. Propagation features of solitons are investigated with the effects of the coefficients in the GCCKdV equations considered. Velocity of soliton increase with the a increasing. Amplitude of v increase with the a increasing and decrease with the β increasing. 展开更多
