A self-tuning reaching law based sliding mode control(SMC)theory is proposed to stabilize the nonlinear continuous stirred tank reactor(CSTR).T-S fuzzy logic is used to build a global fuzzy state-space linear model.Co...A self-tuning reaching law based sliding mode control(SMC)theory is proposed to stabilize the nonlinear continuous stirred tank reactor(CSTR).T-S fuzzy logic is used to build a global fuzzy state-space linear model.Combing the traits of SMC and CSTR,three fuzzy rules can meet the requirements of controlled system.The self-tuning switch control law which can drive the state variables to the sliding surface as soon as possible is designed to ensure the robustness of uncertain fuzzy system.Lyapunov equation is applied to proving the stability of the sliding surface.The simulations show that the proposed approach can achieve desired performance with less chattering problem.展开更多

However, when the discovered design flaws must be prioritized for corrective actions, precise information on their probability of occurrence, the effect of the failure, and their detectability often are not availabe. To solve this problem, this paper described a new method, based on fuzzy sets, for prioritizing failures for corrective actions in a FMCEA. In rule based system, a fuzzy metagraph is a unity of the knowledge base and the reasoning engine. Based on the closure of the adjacency matrix of fuzzy metagraphs, this paper presented an optimized inferential mechanism working mainly by an off line approach. The plant is assumed to lie in a set of interpolated models composed of all interpolations generated between certain sets of proper stable coprime factorizations of transfer functions of two representative models that are defined at two representative operating points. An interpolated controller that is linear interpolation of coprime factorizations of two stabilizing controllers for the two representative models is designed to stabilize this set of interpolated models. Design of such an interpolated controller was converted to a feasibility problem constrained by several LMIs and a BMI, and a two step iteration algorithm was employed to solve it.展开更多

The intent of this paper is to schedule short-term hydrothermal system probabilistically considering stochastic operating cost curves for thermal power generation units and uncertainties in load demand and reservoir w...The intent of this paper is to schedule short-term hydrothermal system probabilistically considering stochastic operating cost curves for thermal power generation units and uncertainties in load demand and reservoir water inflows. Therefore, the stochastic multi-objective hydrothermal generation scheduling problem is formulated with explicit recognition of uncertainties in the system production cost coefficients and system load, which are treated as random variable. Fuzzy methodology has been exploited for solving a decision making problem involving multiplicity of objectives and selection criterion for best compromised solution. A real-coded genetic algorithm with arithmetic-average-bound-blend crossover and wavelet mutation operator is applied to solve short-term variable-head hydrothermal scheduling problem. Initial feasible solution has been obtained by implementing the random heuristic search. The search is performed within the operating generation limits. Equality constraints that satisfy the demand during each time interval are considered by introducing a slack thermal generating unit for each time interval. Whereas the equality constraint which satisfies the consumption of available water to its full extent for the whole scheduling period is considered by introducing slack hydro generating unit for a particular time interval. Operating limit violation by slack hydro and slack thermal generating unit is taken care using exterior penalty method. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated on two sample systems.展开更多
