Inverse Reinforcement Learning Optimal Control for Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Systems

Inverse reinforcement learning optimal control is under the framework of learner-expert.The learner system can imitate the expert system's demonstrated behaviors and does not require the predefined cost function,so it can handle optimal control problems effectively.This paper proposes an inverse reinforcement learning optimal control method for Takagi-Sugeno(T-S)fuzzy systems.Based on learner systems,an expert system is constructed,where the learner system only knows the expert system's optimal control policy.To reconstruct the unknown cost function,we firstly develop a model-based inverse reinforcement learning algorithm for the case that systems dynamics are known.The developed model-based learning algorithm is consists of two learning stages:an inner reinforcement learning loop and an outer inverse optimal control loop.The inner loop desires to obtain optimal control policy via learner's cost function and the outer loop aims to update learner's state-penalty matrices via only using expert's optimal control policy.Then,to eliminate the requirement that the system dynamics must be known,a data-driven integral learning algorithm is presented.It is proved that the presented two algorithms are convergent and the developed inverse reinforcement learning optimal control scheme can ensure the controlled fuzzy learner systems to be asymptotically stable.Finally,we apply the proposed fuzzy optimal control to the truck-trailer system,and the computer simulation results verify the effectiveness of the presented approach. 展开更多

A new kind of volume control hydraulic press that combines the advantages of both hydraulic and SRM(switched reluctance motor) driving technology is developed.Considering that the serious dead zone and time-variant nonlinearity exist in the volume control electro-hydraulic servo system,the ILC(iterative learning control) method is applied to tracking the displacement curve of the hydraulic press slider.In order to improve the convergence speed and precision of ILC,a fuzzy ILC algorithm that utilizes the fuzzy strategy to adaptively adjust the iterative learning gains is put forward.The simulation and experimental researches are carried out to investigate the convergence speed and precision of the fuzzy ILC for hydraulic press slider position tracking.The results show that the fuzzy ILC can raise the iterative learning speed enormously,and realize the tracking control of slider displacement curve with rapid response speed and high control precision.In experiment,the maximum tracking error 0.02 V is achieved through 12 iterations only. 展开更多

This research paper tackles the complexities of achieving global fuzzy consensus in leader-follower systems in robotic systems,focusing on robust control systems against an advanced signal attack that integrates sensor and actuator disturbances within the dynamics of follower robots.Each follower robot has unknown dynamics and control inputs,which expose it to the risks of both sensor and actuator attacks.The leader robot,described by a secondorder,time-varying nonlinear model,transmits its position,velocity,and acceleration information to follower robots through a wireless connection.To handle the complex setup and communication among robots in the network,we design a robust hybrid distributed adaptive control strategy combining the effect of sensor and actuator attack,which ensures asymptotic consensus,extending beyond conventional bounded consensus results.The proposed framework employs fuzzy logic systems(FLSs)as proactive controllers to estimate unknown nonlinear behaviors,while also effectively managing sensor and actuator attacks,ensuring stable consensus among all agents.To counter the impact of the combined signal attack on follower dynamics,a specialized robust control mechanism is designed,sustaining system stability and performance under adversarial conditions.The efficiency of this control strategy is demonstrated through simulations conducted across two different directed communication topologies,underscoring the protocol’s adaptability,resilience,and effectiveness in maintaining global consensus under complex attack scenarios. 展开更多

In this paper a learning mechanism for reactive fuzzy controller design of a mobile robot navigating in unknown environments is proposed. The fuzzy logical controller is constructed based on the kinematics model of a real robot. The approach to learning the fuzzy rule base by relatively simple and less computational Q-learning is described in detail. After analyzing the credit assignment problem caused by the rules collision, a remedy is presented. Furthermore, time-varying parameters are used to increase the learning speed. Simulation results prove the mechanism can learn fuzzy navigation rules successfully only using scalar reinforcement signal and the rule base learned is proved to be correct and feasible on real robot platforms. 展开更多

For making the modified FALCON learning more efficient and stable, a simulated annealing (SA) learning coefficient is introduced into learning algorithm. At first, the basic concepts and main advantages of FALCON were briefly reviewed. Subsequently, the topological structure and nodes operation were illustrated; the gradient-descent learning algorithm with SA learning coefficient was derived; and the distinctions between the archetype and the modification were analyzed. Eventually, the significance and worthiness of the modified FALCON were validated by its application to probability prediction of anode effect in aluminium electrolysis cells. 展开更多

Because of the uncertainties and highly time-varying, it is not easy to accurately obtain the complete information for high-speed networks. In this case, the Q-learning, which is independent of mathematic model, and prior-knowledge, has good performance. The fuzzy inference is introduced in order to facilitate generalization in large state space, and the genetic operators are used to obtain the consequent parts of fuzzy rules. Simulation results show that the proposed controller can learn to take the best action to regulate source flow with the features of high throughput and low packet loss ratio, and can avoid the occurrence of congestion effectively. 展开更多

Cars are regarded as an indispensable means of transportation in Taiwan.Several studies have indicated that the automotive industry has witnessed remarkable advances and that the market of used cars has rapidly expanded.In this study,a price prediction system for used BMW cars was developed.Nine parameters of used cars,including their model,registration year,and transmission style,were analyzed.The data obtained were then divided into three subsets.The first subset was used to compare the results of each algorithm.The predicted values produced by the two algorithms with the most satisfactory results were used as the input of a fully connected neural network.The second subset was used with an optimization algorithm to modify the number of hidden layers in a fully connected neural network and modify the low,medium,and high parameters of the membership function(MF)to achieve model optimization.Finally,the third subset was used for the validation set during the prediction process.These three subsets were divided using k-fold cross-validation to avoid overfitting and selection bias.In conclusion,in this study,a model combining two optimal algorithms(i.e.,random forest and k-nearest neighbors)with several optimization algorithms(i.e.,gray wolf optimizer,multilayer perceptron,and MF)was successfully established.The prediction results obtained indicated a mean square error of 0.0978,a root-mean-square error of 0.3128,a mean absolute error of 0.1903,and a coefficient of determination of 0.9249. 展开更多

Traditional methods such as mechanical testing and x-ray computed tomography(CT), for quality assessment in laser powder-bed fusion(LPBF), a class of additive manufacturing(AM),are resource-intensive and conducted post-production. Recent advancements in in-situ monitoring, particularly using optical tomography(OT) to detect near-infrared light emissions during the process, offer an opportunity for in-situ defect detection. However, interpreting OT datasets remains challenging due to inherent process characteristics and disturbances that may obscure defect identification. This paper introduces a novel machine learning-based approach that integrates a self-organizing map, a fuzzy logic scheme, and a tailored U-Net architecture to enhance defect prediction capabilities during the LPBF process. This model not only predicts common flaws such as lack of fusion and keyhole defects through analysis of in-situ OT data,but also allows quality assurance professionals to apply their expert knowledge through customizable fuzzy rules. This capability facilitates a more nuanced and interpretable model,enhancing the likelihood of accurate defect detection. The efficacy of this system has been validated through experimental analyses across various process parameters, with results validated by subsequent CT scans, exhibiting strong performance with average model scores ranging from 0.375 to 0.819 for lack of fusion defects and from 0.391 to 0.616 for intentional keyhole defects. These findings underscore the model's reliability and adaptability in predicting defects, highlighting its potential as a transformative tool for in-process quality assurance in AM. A notable benefit of this method is its adaptability, allowing the end-user to adjust the probability threshold for defect detection based on desired quality requirements and custom fuzzy rules. 展开更多

An improved GA is used to learn to optimally select the fuzzy membership functions of the linguistic labels in the condition portion of each rule, and to automatically generate fuzzy control actions under each condition. The dynamics of the controlled system is unknown to the GA. The only information for evaluating performance is a failure signal indicating that the controlled system is out of control. We compare its performance with that of other learning methods for the same problem. We also examine the ability of the algorithm to adapt to changing conditions. Simulation results show that such an approach for self-learning fuzzy control rules is both effective and robust. 展开更多

The position control system of an electro-hydraulic actuator system (EHAS) is investigated in this paper. The EHAS is developed by taking into consideration the nonlinearities of the system: the friction and the internal leakage. A variable load that simulates a realistic load in robotic excavator is taken as the trajectory reference. A method of control strategy that is implemented by employing a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) whose parameters are optimized using particle swarm optimization (PSO) is proposed. The scaling factors of the fuzzy inference system are tuned to obtain the optimal values which yield the best system performance. The simulation results show that the FLC is able to track the trajectory reference accurately for a range of values of orifice opening. Beyond that range, the orifice opening may introduce chattering, which the FLC alone is not sufficient to overcome. The PSO optimized FLC can reduce the chattering significantly. This result justifies the implementation of the proposed method in position control of EHAS. 展开更多

The bucket wheel reclaimer(BWR) is a key piece of equipment which has been widely used for stacking and reclaiming bulk materials(i.e.iron ore and coal) in places such as ports,iron-steel plants,coal storage areas,and power stations from stockpiles.BWRs are very large in size,heavy in weight,expensive in price,and slow in motion.There are many challenges in attempting to automatically control their motion to accurately follow the required trajectories involving uncertain parameters from factors such as friction,turbulent wind,its own dynamics,and encoder limitations.As BWRs are always heavily engaged in production and cannot be spared very long for motion control studies and associated developments,a BWR model and simulation environment closely resembling real life conditions would be beneficial.The following research focused mainly on the implementation of fuzzy logic to a BWR motion control from an engineer's perspective.First,the modeling of a BWR including partially known parameters such as friction force and turbulence to the system was presented.This was then followed by the design of a fuzzy logic-based control built on a model-based control loop.The investigation provides engineers with an example of applying fuzzy logic in a model based approach to properly control the motion of a large BWR following defined trajectories,as well as to show possible ways of further improving the controller performance.The result indicates that fuzzy logic can be applied easily by engineers to overcome most motion control issues involving a large BWR. 展开更多

As wind energy is becoming one of the fastestgrowing renewable energy resources,controlling large-scale wind turbines remains a challenging task due to its system model nonlinearities and high external uncertainties.The main goal of the current work is to propose an intelligent control of the wind turbine system without the need for model identification.For this purpose,a novel model-independent nonsingular terminal slidingmode control(MINTSMC)using the basic principles of the ultralocal model(ULM)and combined with the single input interval type-2 fuzzy logic control(SIT2-FLC)is developed for non-linear wind turbine pitch angle control.In the suggested control framework,the MINTSMC scheme is designed to regulate the wind turbine speed rotor,and a sliding-mode(SM)observer is adopted to estimate the unknown phenomena of the ULM.The auxiliary SIT2-FLC is added in the model-independent control structure to improve the rotor speed regulation and compensate for the SM observation estimation error.Extensive examinations and comparative analyses were made using a real-time softwarein-the-loop(RT-SiL)based on the dSPACE 1202 board to appraise the efficiency and applicability of the suggested modelindependent scheme in a real-time testbed. 展开更多

Using secondly developed the hybrid vehicle simulation tool ADVISOR, the dynamic model of PHEV has been set up by MATLAB/SIMULINK. The engine, motor as well as the battery characteristics have been studied. Simulation results show that the proposed hierarchical structured fuzzy logic control strategy is effective over the entire operating range of the vehicle in terms of fuel economy. Based on the analyses of the simulation results and driver’s experiences, a fuzzy controller is designed and developed to control the torque distribution. Active Queue Management (AQM) is an active research area in the Internet community. Random Early Detection (RED) is a typical AQM algorithm, but it is known that it is difficult to configure its parameters and its average queue length is closely related to the load level. This paper proposes an effective fuzzy congestion control algorithm based on fuzzy logic which uses the pre- dominance of fuzzy logic to deal with uncertain events. The main advantage of this new congestion control algorithm is that it discards the packet dropping mechanism of RED, and calculates packet loss according to a preconfigured fuzzy logic by using the queue length and the buffer usage ratio. Theo- retical analysis and Network Simulator (NS) simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves more throughput and more stable queue length than traditional schemes. In this study an indirect adaptive sliding mode control (SMC) based on a fuzzy logic scheme is proposed to strengthen the tracking control performance of a general class of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) nonlinear uncertain systems. Combining reaching law approach and fuzzy universal approximation theorem, the proposed design procedure combines the advantages of fuzzy logic control, adaptive control and sliding mode control. The stability of the control systems is proved in the sense of the Lyapunov second stability theorem. Two simulation studies are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of our new hybrid control algorithm. 展开更多

A microcomputer control system based on 80C320 and a switching regulation of wire feeder were designed. A correction factor based double model fuzzy logic controller (FLC) was introduced to achieve welding digital and intellectualized control by means of wire feeding speed feedback. The controller has many functions such as keyboard input, light emitting diode (LED) display and real-time intellectualized control of welding process etc. The controlling performance influenced by the coefficient of correction function was discussed. It was concluded by the experiments the relation between the coefficient of correction function and welding quality, when the coefficient of correction function is great, the dynamic character of controller is better, when the coefficient of correction function is small, the sensitivity character of controller is better. Experimental results also show that digital and fuzzy logic control method enable the improvement of appearance of weld and stability of welding process to be achieved in submerged arc automatic welding. 展开更多
