The development of non-corrosive and efficient anode interlayers(AILs)is pivotal for advancing highperformance organic optoelectronic devices.Conventional materials such as PEDOT:PSS,though widely adopted, suffer from significant limitations including acidity, corrosion, and poor device stability.Herein,we propose a novel molecular design strategy by introducing p-πconjugation into a p Hneutral conjugated polyelectrolyte(CPE)(PIDT-T)to simultaneously enhance work function(WF)and electrical conductivity.Through doping with polyoxometalate(POM),the optimized PIDT-T:POM achieves a high WF of 4.85 e V,conductivity of 7.25×10^(-3)S cm^(-1),and>98%optical transmittance. In organic solar cells(OSCs),PIDT-T:POM delivers a power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 19.04%,outperforming PEDOT:PSS-based counterparts(18.52%)and representing one of the highest PCEs reported for devices utilizing non-acidic AILs.Moreover, organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs)incorporating PIDTT:POM exhibit a remarkable reduction in turn-on voltage(from 5.8 to 3.0 V)and enhanced luminous efficiency, demonstrating its dual functionality for both OSCs and OLEDs.These findings establish p-πconjugated polyelectrolytes as a powerful molecular platform for next-generation,high-efficiency,and corrosion-free organic optoelectronic applications. 展开更多

[Objectives]To investigate the clinical effects of implementing structured phased rehabilitation training,in addition to conventional rehabilitation,on shoulder joint function and pain alleviation in patients with rotator cuff injuries managed conservatively.[Methods]Eighty patients diagnosed with rotator cuff injury were selected and randomly assigned to either the control group or the experimental group, each comprising 40 individuals. The control group received conventional rehabilitation treatment, whereas the experimental group underwent phased rehabilitation training in addition to the conventional treatment for 6 weeks.Assessments were conducted prior to treatment,6 weeks following treatment, and 8 weeks after the completion of treatment(follow-up period). The visual analogue scale(VAS)was employed to evaluate pain intensity, the Constant-Murley score was utilized to assess shoulder joint function, and the shoulder joint range of motion was measured.[Results]Prior to treatment,no statistically significant differences were observed between the two patient groups across all measured indicators(P>0.05).Following 6 weeks of treatment and throughout the follow-up period, both groups exhibited significant reductions in VAS scores compared to baseline measurements, alongside improvements in Constant-Murley scores and shoulder joint range of motion(P<0.05).Furthermore,the magnitude of improvement in the experimental group was significantly greater than that in the control group(P<0.05).[Conclusions]Phased rehabilitation training can enhance shoulder joint function and alleviate pain in patients with rotator cuff injuries beyond the effects of conventional rehabilitation treatment, demonstrating notable clinical application value. 展开更多

The organization of biological neuronal networks into functional modules has intrigued scientists and inspired engineers to develop artificial systems. These networks are characterized by two key properties.First, they exhibit dense interconnectivity(Braitenburg and Schüz,1998;Campagnola et al.,2022).The strength and probability of connectivity depend on cell type,inter-neuronal distance, and species.Still, every cortical neuron receives input from thousands of other neurons while transmitting output to a similar number of neurons.Second, communication between neurons occurs primarily via chemical or electrical synapses. 展开更多

Objective Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS)has demonstrated efficacy in enhancing neurocognitive performance in Alzheimer’s disease(AD),but the neurobiological mechanisms linking synaptic pathology, neural oscillatory dynamics, and brain network reorganization remain unclear. This investigation seeks to systematically evaluate the therapeutic potential of rTMS as a non-invasive neuromodulatory intervention through a multimodal framework integrating clinical assessments, molecular profiling, and neurophysiological monitoring. Methods In this prospective double-blind trial,12 AD patients underwent a 14-day protocol of 20 Hz rTMS,with comprehensive multimodal assessments performed pre-and postintervention.Cognitive functioning was quantified using the mini-mental state examination(MMSE)and Montreal cognitive assessment(MOCA),while daily living capacities and neuropsychiatric profiles were respectively evaluated through the activities of daily living(ADL)scale and combined neuropsychiatric inventory(NPI)-Hamilton depression rating scale(HAMD).Peripheral blood biomarkers, specifically Aβ1-40 and phosphorylated tau(p-tau181),were analyzed to investigate the effects of rTMS on molecular metabolism.Spectral power analysis was employed to investigate rTMS-induced modulations of neural rhythms in AD patients, while brain network analyses incorporating topological properties were conducted to examine stimulus-driven network reorganization.Furthermore, systematic assessment of correlations between cognitive scale scores, blood biomarkers, and network characteristics was performed to elucidate cross-modal therapeutic associations. Results Clinically,MMSE and MOCA scores improved significantly(P<0.05).Biomarker showed that Aβ1-40 level increased(P<0.05),contrasting with p-tau181 reduction. Moreover, the levels of Aβ1-40 were positively correlated with MMSE and MOCA scores.Post-intervention analyses revealed significant modulations in oscillatory power, characterized by pronounced reductions in delta(P<0.05)and theta bands(P<0.05),while concurrent enhancements were observed in alpha, beta, and gamma band activities(all P<0.05).Network analysis revealed frequency-specific reorganization:clustering coefficients were significantly decreased in delta, theta, and alpha bands(P<0.05),while global efficiency improvement was exclusively detected in the delta band(P<0.05).The alpha band demonstrated concurrent increases in average nodal degree(P<0.05)and characteristic path length reduction(P<0.05).Further research findings indicate that the changes in the clinical scale HAMD scores before and after rTMS stimulation are negatively correlated with the changes in the blood biomarkers Aβ1-40 and p-tau181.Additionally,the changes in the clinical scales MMSE and MoCA scores were negatively correlated with the changes in the node degree of the alpha frequency band and negatively correlated with the clustering coefficient of the delta frequency band. However, the changes in MMSE scores are positively correlated with the changes in global efficiency of both the delta and alpha frequency bands. Conclusion 20 Hz rTMS targeting dorsolateral prefrontal cortex(DLPFC)significantly improves cognitive function and enhances the metabolic clearance ofβ-amyloid and tau proteins in AD patients. This neurotherapeutic effect is mechanistically associated with rTMS-mediated frequency-selective neuromodulation, which enhances the connectivity of oscillatory networks through improved neuronal synchronization and optimized topological organization of functional brain networks. These findings not only support the efficacy of rTMS as an adjunctive therapy for AD but also underscore the importance of employing multiple assessment methods—including clinical scales, blood biomarkers, and EEG——in understanding and monitoring the progression of AD.This research provides a significant theoretical foundation and empirical evidence for further exploration of rTMS applications in AD treatment. 展开更多

Zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs)are inexpensive and safe, but side reactions on the Zn anode and Zn dendrite growth hinder their practical applications. In this study,1,3,5-triformylphloroglycerol(Tp)and various diamine monomers(p-phenylenediamine(Pa),benzidine(BD),and 4,4"-diamino-p-terphenyl(DATP))were used to synthesize a series of two-dimensional covalent-organic frameworks(COFs).The resulting COFs were named TpPa,TpBD,and TpDATP,respectively, and they showed uniform zincophilic sites, different pore sizes, and high Young's moduli on the Zn anode.Among them,TpPa and TpBD showed lower surface work functions and higher ion transfer numbers, which were conducive to uniform galvanizing/stripping zinc and inhibited dendrite growth.Theoretical calculations showed that TpPa and TpBD had wider negative potential region and greater adsorption capacity for Zn2+than TpDATP,providing more electron donor sites to coordinate with Zn^(2+).Symmetric cells protected by TpPa and TpBD stably cycled for more than 2300 h,whereas TpDATP@Zn and the bare zinc symmetric cells failed after around 150 and200 h.The full cells containing TpPa and TpBD modification layers also showed excellent cycling capacity at 1 A/g.This study provides comprehensive insights into the construction of highly reversible Zn anodes via COF modification layers for advanced rechargeable ZIBs. 展开更多

BACKGROUND The deleterious effects of surgical trauma and subsequent postoperative complications pose significant challenges to the smooth recovery of patients after gastric cancer(GC)resection despite the substantial curative benefits provided by surgical interventions for GC.Hence, the investigation of more optimal and efficacious treatment approaches has become an urgent necessity in the medical community.AIM To investigate the association of Sijunzi decoction plus chemotherapy with the gastrointestinal function and serum markers of patients after GC surgery.METHODS This study included patients who underwent GC surgery from June 2022 to February 2024.The control group included 45 patients who received chemotherapy(oxaliplatin+calcium folinate+5-fluorouracil),whereas the research group consisted of 54 patients who received Sijunzi decoction therapy in addition to the treatment administered in the control group.Comparative analyses were conducted from the following perspectives:Gastrointestinal function(defecation time, intestinal gas discharge time, and hospitalization time),serum markers[carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),carbohydrate antigen(CA)125,and CA199],nutritional indicators total protein(TP)and transferrin(TRF),traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score, and grades Ⅲ–Ⅳ adverse events(gastrointestinal reactions,renal/liver function impairment, and myelosuppression).RESULTS The two groups demonstrated similar defecation time(P>0.05),but the intestinal gas discharge time and hospitalization time were significantly shortened in the research group(P<0.05).Further,the research group exhibited significant CEA,CA125,and CA199 reductions after treatment, which were lower compared to the control group,as well as notable increases in TP and TRF that were statistically higher than the control group(all P<0.05).Furthermore,the research group demonstrated an evident decrease in TCM syndrome scores in areas, such as poor appetite, epigastric distension and pain, fatigue and weakness(P<0.01),and abdominal distension after eating, which are notably lower than those in the control group(P<0.01),with a comparable incidence of grades Ⅲ-Ⅳ adverse events(P>0.05).CONCLUSION Our research results indicate that Sijunzi decoction plus chemotherapy exerts a good rehabilitation-promoting effect on gastrointestinal function in patients after GC surgery and significantly downregulates abnormally increased CEA,CA125,and CA199 levels. 展开更多

This article explored the application of dexmedetomidine(Dex),a highly selective alpha-2 agonist,in managing postoperative cognitive dysfunction(POCD)in elderly patients undergoing radical colon cancer surgery.Aging is associated with a progressive decline in physiological functions and an increased risk of adverse surgical outcomes, including POCD,which encompasses many neurocognitive disorders that manifest during the perioperative period. The aging population is at a higher risk for POCD,which can lead to prolonged hospital stays, delayed recovery, and increased healthcare costs.Dex has neuroprotective,opioid-sparing,and sympatholytic properties, which reduces the incidence and severity of POCD.Dex was introduced for sedation in patients receiving mechanical ventilation but has since been adopted in anesthesia due to its multifaceted benefits. Its appli-cation extends to sedation, analgesia, maintenance of anesthesia, and controlling delirium. Its neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effects have been explored in managing POCD.This article discussed the broad range of patient and procedure-related risk factors for POCD.Early identification and intervention are crucial to prevent the progression of POCD,which can have severe physical, psychological, and economic consequences. The article underscored the importance of a mul-tidisciplinary approach in managing POCD,involving the optimization of comor-bidities,depth of anesthesia monitoring, hemodynamic stability, and cerebral oxygenation monitoring. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Research has shown that several factors can influence postoperative abnormal liver function;however, most studies on this issue have focused specifically on hepatic and cardiac surgeries, leaving limited research on contributing factors in other types of surgeries.AIM To identify the risk factors for early postoperative abnormal liver function in multiple surgery types and construct a risk prediction model.METHODS This retrospective cohort study involved 3720 surgical patients from 5 surgical departments at Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.Patients were divided into abnormal(n=108)and normal(n=3612)groups based on liver function post-surgery.Univariate analysis and LASSO regression screened variables, followed by logistic regression to identify risk factors.A prediction model was constructed based on the variables selected via logistic re-gression.The goodness-of-fit of the model was evaluated using the Hosm-er–Lemeshow test, while discriminatory ability was measured by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve.Calibration curves were plotted to visualize the consistency between predicted probabilities and observed outcomes.RESULTS The key factors contributing to abnormal liver function after surgery include elevated aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase levels and reduced platelet counts pre-surgery,as well as the sevoflurane use during the procedure, among others.CONCLUSION The above factors collectively represent notable risk factors for postoperative liver function injury, and the prediction model developed based on these factors demonstrates strong predictive efficacy. 展开更多

In this study,an improved integrated radial basis function with nonuniform shape parameter is introduced. The proposed shape parameter varies in each support domain and is defined byθ=1/d_(max),where d_(max)is the maximum distance of any pair of nodes in the support domain. The proposed method is verified and shows good performance. The results are stable and accurate with any number of nodes and an arbitrary nodal distribution.Notably, the support domain should be large enough to obtain accurate results. This method is then applied for transient analysis of curved shell structures made from functionally graded materials with complex geometries.Through several numerical examples, the accuracy of the proposed approach is demonstrated and discussed.Additionally, the influence of various factors on the dynamic behavior of the structures, including the power-law index, different materials, loading conditions, and geometrical parameters of the structures, was investigated. 展开更多

Thrombin blockers have been shown to be effective for various pathological conditions, but their use is limited due to the potential for serious bleeding adverse effects. This study introduced a novel bioactive peptide(P-2-CG) from oyster, that mitigated thrombin-mediated barrier dysfunction and prothrombotic phenotypes in human pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells(HPMECs).P-2-CG significantly attenuated the increase in endothelial monolayer permeability induced by thrombin through the possible attenuation of RhoA activation and it promoted barrier recovery by enhancing endothelial cell adhesion.Additionally,P-2-CG was found to decrease the pro-thrombotic phenotype induced by thrombin in HPMEC by reducing the extrinsic trigger tissue factor mRNA expression, which resulted in prolonged plasma clotting time, decreased Factor Xa activation, and reduced thrombin generation.Moreover,P-2-CG inhibited thrombosis efficiently by blocking intercellular adhesion molecule 1 and vascular cell adhesion protein 1 expression via tyrosine phosphorylation of nuclear factor-κB p65.P-2-CG inhibits thrombin mediated inflammation and provides a potential therapeutic option for treating endothelial dysfunction and thrombosis. 展开更多

It is not a constant function in general and we study the regularity of this function. We use this function to provide an accurate characterization of the height of the geodesic defining function for the AH manifold with a given boundary metric. Furthermore, it is shown that such functions are uniformly bounded from below at infinity and the bound only depends on the dimension. In the end, we apply this function to study the capacity of balls in AH manifolds and demonstrate that the “relative p—capacity function” coincides with the relative volume function under appropriate curvature conditions. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS)protocols have emerged as a promising approach in perioperative care. This study evaluated ERAS's impact on gastrointestinal recovery and microbiota composition following laparoscopic gastric cancer surgery.AIM To evaluate the impact of ERAS protocols on postoperative gastrointestinal function recovery and intestinal microbiota composition in patients undergoing laparoscopic gastric cancer surgery, and to identify factors associated with improved clinical outcomes and microbial diversity preservation.METHODS We conducted a retrospective analysis of 80 patients who underwent laparoscopic D2 gastrectomy, comparing ERAS(n=40)vs traditional care(n=40).Primary outcomes included postoperative gastrointestinal function recovery and complications.Intestinal microbiota was analyzed using 16S rRNA sequencing at multiple timepoints perioperatively.RESULTS ERAS patients demonstrated faster recovery of bowel function, with earlier return of bowel sounds(16.25±6.41 hours vs 22.3±6.49 hours),first flatus(23.95±6.02 hours vs 28.45±7.12 hours),and defecation(34.95±9.34 hours vs 48.1±15.64 hours),all P<0.05.Complication rates, including antibiotic-associated diarrhea and surgical site infections, were comparable between groups.Microbial diversity indices and probiotic populations showed better preservation in the ERAS group postoperatively(P<0.05),though neither group achieved complete restoration to preoperative levels at one month.CONCLUSION These results support tailoring ERAS protocols to prioritize gut microbiome resilience through early feeding and shortened antibiotic courses, with particular benefits for younger patients. 展开更多

Background Reproductive efficiency in goats is closely linked to the healthy development of follicles, with the proliferation of ovarian granulosa cells(GCs)playing a crucial role in this process.Sirtuin 3(SIRT3),an enzyme that catalyzes post-translational modifications(PTMs)of proteins,is known to regulate a variety of mitochondrial metabolic pathways, thereby affecting cell fate. However, the specific effect of SIRT3 on the follicular development process remains unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the regulatory role of SIRT3 in the mitochondrial function and proliferation of goat GCs,as well as the underlying mechanisms involved. Results In this study,GCs from small follicles in goat ovaries presented increased proliferative potential and elevated SIRT3 expression levels compared with those from large follicles. In vitro,SIRT3 overexpression enhanced mitochondrial function, promoted proliferation and inhibited apoptosis in GCs.Correspondingly, the inhibition of SIRT3 led to the opposite effects.Notably,SIRT3 interacted with carnitine palmitoyl transferase 2(CPT2)and stabilized the CPT2 protein by mediating delactylation, which prolonged the half-life of CPT2 and prevented its degradation.Further investigation revealed that CPT2 overexpression enhanced fatty acidβ-oxidation and mitochondrial function in GCs.Additionally,CPT2 promoted the proliferation of GCs by increasing the protein levels ofβ-catenin and its downstream target, cyclin D1(CCND1).However,this effect was reversed by 3-TYP(a SIRT3 inhibitor). Conclusions SIRT3 stabilizes CPT2 protein expression through delactylation, thereby enhancing mitochondrial function and the proliferative capacity of GCs in goats. This study provides novel insights into the molecular mechanisms and regulatory pathways involved in mammalian follicular development. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Studies have shown that locomotive syndrome(LS)is significantly correlated with adverse outcomes, such as decreased self-care abilities, fractures, and increased mortality.Subthreshold depression(StD)is considered an independent predictor of clinical depression, regarded as its prodromal stage, and even linked to increased mortality risk.Limited research has addressed the prevalence and relationship between LS and StD in elderly cancer patients.Understanding the prevalence of LS and StD among elderly cancer patients and elucidating their relationship will provide evidence to support the development of targeted interventions, thereby improving health outcomes in this population.AIM To investigate the relationship between musculoskeletal system function and predepressive states in elderly cancer patients.METHODS A convenience sampling method was employed to recruit 500 elderly cancer patients undergoing follow-up visits at the Department of Oncology,Affiliated Hospital of Jiangnan University, from April 2024 to December 2024.Participants completed the general information questionnaire, the 25-question Geriatric Locomotive Function Scale, and theGeriatric Depression Scale-Short Form-15. Influencing factors were analyzed, and correlation analyses wereperformed.RESULTSA total of 483 elderly cancer patients successfully completed the study. The prevalence of LS and StD amongparticipants was 56.5% and 38.7%, respectively. Logistic regression analysis identified age, tumor metastasis, exercise habits, and the presence of StD as significant risk factors for LS in elderly cancer patients. Additionally, having three or more chronic diseases and LS were significant predictors for developing StD. Spearman’s correlationanalysis revealed a significant positive correlation between LS and StD (r = 0.424, P < 0.001).CONCLUSIONElderly cancer patients exhibit a high prevalence of LS and StD, conditions which are positively correlated andmutually influential. Thus, it is critical to monitor and address pre-depressive states while evaluating and managingmotor function in this population. 展开更多
