External medicine, also frequently described as surgery, has a history as long as that of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). There were important doctors in each dynasty who devoted themselves to the study and practice of external medicine. In TCM external medicine, diseases are named either according to their location (such as neck abscess and back carbuncle), or viscera involved (such as intestinal abscess and lung abscess), or causes (such as tetanus and chilblain, which are literally known respectively as wind damage of wound and sore caused by cold in TCM), or shape (such as snake head boil and goose web wind), or the color (such as erysipelas and vitiligo which are literally known respectively as red toxin and white skin wind), etc. 展开更多

[Objectives] To observe the clinical therapeutic efficacy of local hot-wet compress therapy of digestion ointment prescription on the patients with moderate and severe mastalgia. [Methods] Firstly,60 patients with mastalgia were selected, and divided into the experimental group and control group( 30 cases for each group). The control group was treated with acupuncture at distal point, and the experimental group was treated with TCM local hot-wet compress therapy combined with acupuncture at distal point. Then, the clinical therapeutic efficacy of two groups was compared. [Results]The experimental group was superior to the control group in relieving the breast pain, improving emotional integral, reducing breast lumps, improving lump texture, and improving TCM syndrome integral( P < 0. 05). [Conclusions]The digestion ointment prescription local hot-wet compress therapy has a significant therapeutic effect on treatment of mastalgia and can significantly improve the breast pain symptom of patients. 展开更多

That is why it is now usually translated as "cancer" or "carcinoma", which is adopted in the WFCMS Standard. To translate it as "rocky mass" in the WPRO Standard appears quite unique and sounds semantically equivalent to the original term. 展开更多

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of combined traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapy with acupoint injection and herbal patch application on patients with ovulatory dysfunction associated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Methods: A total of 80 PCOS patients who received treatment at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine between October 2022 and March 2024 were enrolled in this study. They were randomly divided into a control group (n = 40) and an observation group (n = 40). The control group received conventional Western medical treatments, while the observation group was administered TCM combined with acupoint injection and herbal patch application. Pre- and post-treatment conditions were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the overall effective rate was significantly higher in the observation group compared to the control group (P 0.05). Following treatment, both ovulation and pregnancy rates increased in both groups, but the increase was more evident in the observation group, showing a statistically significant difference (P < 0.01). Conclusion: For patients with oligoovulation or anovulation due to PCOS, the combined use of TCM, acupoint injection, and herbal patch application appears to be effective in improving systemic symptoms and achieving notable clinical outcomes. 展开更多

Objective:To observe the clinical effects of medical cupping for metabolic syndrome(MetS)with abdominal obesity. Methods:In total,75 patients with MetS with abdominal obesity were randomly divided into three groups:medical cupping, acupuncture, and waiting.Patients in the medical cupping group received smearing of Chinese medicine and cupping twice a week for 8 weeks.Patients in the acupuncture group received acupuncture on regulating the Dai meridian three times a week for 8 weeks. The waiting group was observed without any intervention.Changes in metabolic indices, including waist circumference(WC),blood pressure, fasting triglyceride(TG),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),fasting blood glucose(FBG),2-h blood glucose(2hBG),and subcutaneous fat thickness were observed and compared before and after treatment among the three groups. Results:After the treatment, the WC,TG,FBG,and 2hBG in the medical cupping and acupuncture groups were lower than those in the waiting group. No difference was observed between the medical cupping and acupuncture groups. The subcutaneous fat thickness at the upper umbilicus, right side of the umbilicus, and waist in the medical cupping and acupuncture groups were lower than those in the waiting group. The subcutaneous fat thickness at the upper umbilicus and waist in the medical cupping group was lower than that in the acupuncture group. The MetS prevalence in the medical cupping and acupuncture groups was lower than that in the waiting group. Conclusion:medical cupping treatment can effectively alleviate metabolic indices and subcutaneous fat thickness at the abdomen in patients with MetS and abdominal obesity and decrease the MetS prevalence. Its efficacy was better than that of waiting and similar to that of acupuncture. The frequency of medical cupping is lower than that of the acupuncture.Meanwhile,it circumvents some patients’fear of acupuncture.medical cupping should be clinically promoted. 展开更多
