Nowadays, every discipline or field attaches great importance to establishing and applying ontology for research. And ontologies that related to linguistics are WordNet by cognitive linguist Prof. Miller from PrincetonUniversity, FrameNet by Prof. Fillmore from California University, Berkeley, GOLD （General Ontology for Language Description） by Dr. Farrar from Arizona University and DOLCE （Descriptive Ontology for Linguistic and Cognitive Engineering） by CNR cognitive science and technology research centre of Italy, etc. This article focuses on event structures hot discussed in cognitive linguistics, through an ontologically analytical approach, and gives a systematic description on the concepts and semantic relationships involved in the event structures. Any event structure can be represented through the 7S schema. ＂For some purpose, somebody does something for someone with some means, sometimes and somewhere＂. Therefore, an event consists of 7 conceptual domains： purpose, actor, action, object, facility, location and time. In the article, the main concepts of the 7 domains and over 20 semantic relationships between these domains are described in detail and illustrated by some examples.展开更多

To extract effective information in massive financial news,this paper proposes amethod to calculate the correlation between text and text set by extracting structured events in the stockmarket news text,and provides m...To extract effective information in massive financial news,this paper proposes amethod to calculate the correlation between text and text set by extracting structured events in the stockmarket news text,and provides more detailed and interpretable information.First,the structured event triplet was extracted from the text set,and the trained word vector was used to represent the event triplet as an event vector.Event vectors were clustered,the cosine distances were calculated for the cluster centers,and the correlation between the text sets was determined by matching.Finally,the event triplets with the highest correlation between the text sets were selected to provide explanation information for the calculation results.Experimental results show that this method effectively measures the correlation between text and text set.展开更多

The analysis is different from other...This article aims at providing an analysis of the Cantonese Motion-Directional Construction within a broad framework of cognitive linguistics and how it is relevant to translation. The analysis is different from others in that it applies the cognitive constructional approach to Cantonese. It discusses examples of the argument structure of the Cantonese Motion-Directional Construction and demonstrates the strategies of our approach. In particular, we propose the Catenative Analysis of the Motion-Directional Construction and argue that the Construction signals conceptual subordination, which illustrates the event structure of the Construction. Furthermore, we consider the relationship of translation between Cantonese and English in realizing this Construction.展开更多
