Mg-Li alloys hold significant potential for applications in aerospace,automotive manufacturing,military weaponry,and biomedical implants,due to their excellent recyclability,high specific strength,biocompatibility,and superior electromagnetic shielding properties.However,their poor corrosion resistance and high susceptibility to environmentally assisted cracking(EAC)significantly limit broader application.In recent years,growing attention has been directed toward understanding the corrosion and EAC behavior of Mg-Li alloys,as localized corrosion areas and hydrogen generated during the corrosion process can serve as crack initiation points and promote crack propagation.A comprehensive understanding of these mechanisms is essential for enhancing the reliability and performance of Mg-Li alloys in practical environments.This paper presents a detailed review of corrosion and EAC in Mg-Li alloys,focusing on corrosion behavior,crack initiation and propagation mechanisms,and the key factors influencing these processes.It summarizes recent advances in alloying,heat treatment,mechanical processing,microstructural control,environmental influences,mechanical loading,and surface treatments.In addition,the paper explores future research directions,highlights emerging trends,and proposes strategies to improve the durability and service performance of Mg-Li alloys. 展开更多

The environment at crack tip and its effect on the crack growth behaviour of low alloy steel-E690 steel were studied at cathodic potentials in artificial seawater.The results showed that the micro environment at crack tip and crack growth behaviour were related to the electrochemical reactions at crack tip,which were affected by the stress state and applied potentials.The crack tip environment was acidified under cyclic loading,resulting from the crack tip anodic dissolution reaction and corresponding hydrolysis reaction.Because of the hydrogen evolution and the inhibited anodic dissolution inside the crack,the crack tip p H increases as the cathodic potential decreases.The effect of cathodic potentials on the electrochemical reactions caused the variation of the hydrogen content,which influenced the crack growth rate because the crack growth behaviour was controlled by hydrogen embrittlement mechanism.This resulted in a fact that with the negative decrease of potential,the crack growth rate first decreased and then increased,with the minimum rate at-0.75 V.And the crack growth path exhibited transgranular fracture. 展开更多

In high sour gas reservoir drilling process, it happens occasionally that high-strength drill pipe suffers brittle fracture failure due to stress corrosion cracking, and poses serious hazard to drilling safety. To solve this problem, this paper studied the stress corrosion cracking mechanism and infl uencing factors of highstrength drill pipe in sour environment with hydrogen permeation experiments and tensile tests. We simulated practical conditions in laboratory and evaluated the stress corrosion cracking performance of the high-strength drill pipe under conditions of high stress level. For the problems occurring in use of high-strength drill pipe on site, the paper proposed a technical measure for slower stress corrosion cracking. 展开更多

It has been suggested that microcracks do play a key role in the triggering of the bone remodeling process.In order to evaluate the influence of microcracks on the poroelastic behaviors of an osteon,a finite element model is established and investigated by using the Comsol Multiphysics software.The findings show that the presence of a microcrack in the osteon wall strongly modifies(enlarges)its local fluid pressure and velocity.Especially,the pressure and velocity amplitudes produced in the microcracked region are larger than those of the non-cracked region.Thus,this study can also be used for proposing a likely mechanism that bone can sense the changes of surrounding mechanical environments. 展开更多
