The principal Mn minerals, being vernadite and todorokite, exhibit different electron diffraction patterns and morphological features. According to its morphological feature, todorokite shows three phases: fibrous, lamellar and lath-shaped. Both vernadite and todorokite are authigenic minerals. While vernadite was mainly precipitated directly from the relevant solution by microbiological oxidation, todorokite was separated from the solution chemically without the help of microbe. Hence, these two minerals show a close genetic relation.展开更多

Methods During total hip replacement for osteoarthritis of hip joint in 12 female patients with an average age of 56 years, the femoral heads were procured. After processing the femoral had, specimens were studied under scanning electron microscope. Results Different degrees of osteoarthritic lesions (characterized by degeneration of articular cartilage and hyperplasia of subchondral bone tissues) could coexust with osteoporotic lesions (characterized by icicle-like trabeculae ) in the femoral had. The hyperplas- tic bone tissues of osteoarthritis lay in the vicinity of icicle-like trabeculae. However, they did not care into contact, nor did they exert influence on each other. Coexistence of these two different lesions covered a brood territory extending from the deep surface of subchondral bone plate to the head-neck junction of femoral head. Conclusion The results suggest that osteoarthritis and osteoporosis do coexist in the femoral head.展开更多

Methods Transmission electron microscopic observations of the tissue specimens obtained from endomyocardial biopsies or surgical excisions of left ventricular myocardium or calcified aortic valves were carried out in 50 patients with various cardiovascular diseases. Results The ultrastructural features of apoptosis was consistently observed in cardiomyocytes, fibroblasts, vascular endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells in all diseased tissues. In cardiomyopathies and rheumatic heart diseases apoptosis was commonly observed in the cardiomyocytes. It was often found that fibroblasts underwent apoptosis in calcific aortic valve tissues. Apoptosis of arterial smooth muscle cells was a frequent finding in renal arterial stenosis due to Takayasu's arteritis and fibromuscular dysplasia. Regardless of the cell types, the nuclear hallmarks of apoptosis were identical with minor modifications of the fragmentation of the condensed cells into apoptotic bodies. Conclusions Based on electron microscopic findings, it is suggested that the underlying disease processes determine which type of cells predominantly undergoes apoptotic changes in various cardiovascular disorders. In addition, different cells with similar structural morphology may have common ultrastructural features of apoptosis.展开更多

Methods: Split thickness rabbit skin was processed into small chips that were cultured in vitro and then subjected to scanning electron microscopic study. Results: The fibroblasts swam out from the skin chips and they increased in number rapidly and became confluent. The cells exhibited squamous configuration, possessing arboreal bifurcation and forming multi layer structure. The fibroblasts then excreted numerous minute granules, heaping up on and around the cells. Thenceforth emerged on the cell surface fine needle like crystals, that agglomerated with the granules to form nodules. The fibroblasts orientated themselves in a radiating pattern around the large nodules. Neighboring nodules could be linked up into trabecular structures. Conclusions: Sequence of events of new bone formation by rabbit dermal fibroblasts cultured in vitro is fully depicted and confirmed.展开更多

Japonica) at various stages before and after fertilization have been investigated by using immunogold electron microscopy. Before pollination, both cytoplasm and vacuoles of the egg cell, synergids and central cell were labeled by gold particles. A small amount of gold particles were localized in the nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria and dictyosomes. From pollination to fertilization, CaM amount increased in these cells, especially rich in the starch of amyloplasts. Increase of gold particles in the central cell began about 2 h earlier than that in the egg cell. There was no distinct difference of CaM amount between the degenerated and the persistent synergids. It is interesting to observe an obvious change of CaM distribution form during pollination and fertilization from scattered single particles to clustered particles, and back again to single particles after the fertilization finished. CaM was also localized extracellularly in the embryo sac wall as well as in the wall and intercellular space of nucellus cells. The extracellular CaM also changes in its amount and form after pollination. These results suggest that CaM, either intra- or extra-cellular, may play important roles in fertilization and zygote formation.展开更多

Electron diffraction pattern indicates that the transition temperature from La(OH)3 to nanophase La2O3 is 400 ℃. Particle sizes for nanophase La2O3 are from 20 to 50 nm.
文摘The significance of electronic microscopc examination(EM) in the diagnosis of pulmonary neoplasms was evaIuated in 40 cases of Patients with different kinds of Pulmonary neoplasms. In 27 of the 40 cases, final diagnoses were made by light microscope(LM) examination, while in the remaining 13 cases,LM faded to reach definite diagnoses which were established with the help of EM.By analyzing our data,we conclude that in the following situations,EM helps meet in the diagnosis of pulmonary neoplasm:1.diagnosis of neuroendocrinal carcinomas of the lung;2.diagnosis of some rare pulmonary neoplasm;3.documentation of the histologic origins of the matastatic pulmonary neoplasms and 4.differentiation of malignant mesothelioma with pleural metastasis of Pulmonary adenocarcinoma.
文摘Objective: To investigate further into the osteogenic potential of rabbit dermal fibroblasts with scanning electron microscope. Conclusions: Sequence of events of new bone formation by rabbit dermal fibroblasts cultured in vitro is fully depicted and confirmed.

文摘The deformation characteristics of silty soils under vibrational loads can easily change due to the wetting process, leading to the failure of roadbed structures.Commonly used methods for improving silty soils in engineering often yield unsatisfactory economic and ecological outcomes. As an environment-friendly soil improvement material,Xanthan gum has broad application prospects and is therefore considered a solidifying agent for enhancing silty soil properties in the Yellow River Basin. In this study,a series of tests is conducted using a scanning electron microscope and a dynamic triaxial testing apparatus to investigate the microstructure and dynamic deformation characteristics of unsaturated silty soil with varying xanthan gum contents during the wetting process. The results show that xanthan gum effectively fills voids between soil particles and adheres to their surfaces, forming fibrous and network structures. This modification enhances the inherent properties of the silty soil and significantly improves its stability under dynamic loading.Specifically, with increasing xanthan gum content, the dynamic shear modulus increases while the damping ratio decreases.During the wetting process,as suction decreases, the dynamic shear modulus decreases while the damping ratio increases.Xanthan gum reduces the sensitivity of the dynamic deformation characteristics of the treated silty soil to changes in suction levels. Finally, based on the modified Hardin-Drnevich hyperbolic model,a predictive model for the dynamic shear modulus and damping ratio of treated silty soil is proposed, considering the xanthan gum content. These research findings provide a theoretical basis for the construction and maintenance of water conservancy, slope stabilization, and roadbed projects in the Yellow River Basin.
文摘Changes of calmodulin (CaM) distribution in the embryo sac of rice (Oryza sativa subsp. These results suggest that CaM, either intra- or extra-cellular, may play important roles in fertilization and zygote formation.
