Ferromagnetic materials play an important role in memory materials,but conventional control methods are often limited by issues such as high power consumption and volatility.Multiferroic heterostructures provide a promising alternative to achieve low power consumption and nonvolatile electric control of magnetic properties.In this paper,a two-dimensional multiferroic van der Waals heterostructure OsCl_(2)/Sc_(2)CO_(2),which is composed of ferromagnetic monolayer OsCl_(2)and ferroelectric monolayer Sc_(2)CO_(2),is studied by first-principles density functional theory.The results show that by reversing the direction of the electric polarization of Sc_(2)CO_(2),OsCl_(2)can be transformed from a semiconductor to a half-metal,demonstrating a nonvolatile electrical manipulation of the heterostructure through ferroelectric polarization.The underlying physical mechanism is explained by band alignments and charge density differences.Furthermore,based on the heterostructure,we construct a multiferroic tunnel junction with a tunnel electroresistance ratio of 3.38×10^(14)%and a tunnel magnetoresistance ratio of 5.04×10^(6)%,allowing control of conduction states via instantaneous electric or magnetic fields.The findings provide a feasible strategy for designing advanced nanodevices based on the giant tunnel electroresistance and tunnel magnetoresistance effects. 展开更多

Soft fiberoptic choledochoscope is an important tool for the diagnose and surgical treatment of biliary disease.However,the traditional soft fiberoptic choledochoscope is hard to operate,due to the low position accuracy.Based on the conventional soft fiberoptic choledochoscope,an electrical soft fiberoptic choledochoscope robot with a low latency was developed.In order to improve the controllability of the conventional choledochoscope,the wire traction mechanism and the rotation mechanism are used to bend and rotate the scope,so as to control its movement orientation.The dead band compensation model and control algorithm of the wire traction mechanism are developed to improve the accuracy of the orientation control.The human-computer interaction system and complex motion control system are developed based on ARM embedded system and FPGA.Thanks to the high-speed synchronization channel between FPGA and peripheral,the design of low latency whole-procedure surgical mode was established and verified.Combined with a micro image sensor,real-time video back transmission was realized.The performance of the robot prototype was verified by animal experiment in vivo on a pig.The robot has an extremely low operating latency of no more than 0.402 ms,and a high bending positioning accuracy of±1.43°error margin within 99.7%confidence interval,which guarantees the safety of biliary surgery. 展开更多

We investigated the electric controllable spin-filtering effect in a zigzag phosphorene nanoribbon(ZPNR) based normal–antiferromagnet–normal junction. Two ferromagnets are closely coupled to the edges of the nanoribbon and form the edge-to-edge antiferromagnetism. Under an in-plane electric field, the two degenerate edge bands of the edge-to-edge antiferromagnet split into four spin-polarized sub-bands and a 100% spin-polarized current can be easily induced with the maximal conductance 2e~2/h. The spin polarization changes with the strength of the electric field and the exchange field,and changes sign at opposite electric fields. The spin-polarized current switches from one edge to the other by reversing the direction of the electric field. The edge current can also be controlled spatially by changing the electric potential of the scattering region. The manipulation of edge current is useful in spin-transfer-torque magnetic random-access memory and provides a practical way to develop controllable spintronic devices. 展开更多

Voluntary participation of hemiplegic patients is crucial for functional electrical stimulation therapy.A wearable functional electrical stimulation system has been proposed for real-time volitional hand motor function control using the electromyography bridge method.Through a series of novel design concepts,including the integration of a detecting circuit and an analog-to-digital converter,a miniaturized functional electrical stimulation circuit technique,a low-power super-regeneration chip for wireless receiving,and two wearable armbands,a prototype system has been established with reduced size,power,and overall cost.Based on wrist joint torque reproduction and classification experiments performed on six healthy subjects,the optimized surface electromyography thresholds and trained logistic regression classifier parameters were statistically chosen to establish wrist and hand motion control with high accuracy.Test results showed that wrist flexion/extension,hand grasp,and finger extension could be reproduced with high accuracy and low latency.This system can build a bridge of information transmission between healthy limbs and paralyzed limbs,effectively improve voluntary participation of hemiplegic patients,and elevate efficiency of rehabilitation training. 展开更多

A new electrical toothed band brake is proposed based on the planetary gear shifting transmission.The corresponding mathematical model and the finite element model are established to investigate the braking dynamic characteristics and the stress distribution of brake components.According to the structural features and working principle of the brake,the braking process can be divided into a gap elimination stage,a sliding stage,a meshing stage,and a collision stage.The greater the initial speed of brake drum,the higher the impact torque in the collision stage,and the larger the stress of brake components.The ideal range of initial speed is 50-100 r/min,and the ultimate stress is 514 MPa appeared in the right brake band.This study present a wide range of possibilities for further investigation and application of the electrical toothed band brake. 展开更多

In view of the current sensors failure in electric pitch system,a variable universe fuzzy fault tolerant control method of electric pitch control system based on single current detection is proposed.When there is single or two-current sensor fault occurs,based on the proposed method the missing current information can be reconstructed by using direct current(DC)bus current sensor and the three-phase current can be updated in time within any two adjacent sampling periods,so as to ensure stability of the closed-loop system.And then the switchover and fault tolerant control of fault current sensor would be accomplished by fault diagnosis method based on adaptive threshold judgment.For the reconstructed signal error caused by the modulation method and the main control target of electric pitch system,a variable universe fuzzy control method is used in the speed loop,which can improve the anti-disturbance ability to load variation,and the robustness of fault tolerance system.The results show that the fault tolerant control method makes the variable pitch control system still has ideal control characteristics in case of sensor failure although part of the system performance is lost,thus the correctness of the proposed method is verified. 展开更多

Reliable load frequency control LFC is crucial to the operation and design of modern electric power systems. Considering the LFC problem of a four-Area interconnected power system with wind turbines, this paper presents a distributed model predictive control DMPC based on coordination scheme. The proposed algorithm solves a series of local optimization problems to minimize a performance objective for each control area. The generation rate constraints GRCs, load disturbance changes, and the wind speed constraints are considered. Furthermore, the DMPC algorithm may reduce the impact of the randomness and intermittence of wind turbine effectively. A performance comparison between the proposed controller with and without the participation of the wind turbines is carried out. Analysis and simulation results show possible improvements on closed-loop performance, and computational burden with the physical constraints. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation. 展开更多

Electrically controlled rotor (ECR) system has the potential to enhance the rotor perfor- mance by applying higher harmonic flap inputs. In order to explore the feasibility and effectiveness for ECR performance enhancement using closed-loop control method, firstly, an ECR rotor performance analysis model based on helicopter flight dynamic model is established, which can reflect the performance characteristics of ECR helicopter at high advance ratio. Based on the simulation platform, an active control method named adaptive T-matrix algorithm is adopted to explore the feasibility and effectiveness for ECR performance enhancement. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of this closed-loop control method. For the sample ECR helicopter, about 3% rotor power reduction is obtained with the optimum 2/rev flap inputs at the advance ratio of 0.34. And through analyzing the distributions of attack of angle and drag in rotor disk, the underlying physical essence of ECR power reduction is cleared. Furthermore, the influence of the key control parameters, including convergence factor and weighting matrix, on the effectiveness of closed-loop control for ECR performance enhancement is explored. A vehicle stopping method using an electric brake until a traction motor is stopped is studied. At the moment of vehicle stop, electric brake is changed to control mode where torque is reduced at a low speed. Gradient is controlled by estimating the load torque of motor, thereby traction motor is not rotated after stop. In addition, coasting operation and brake test are performed from normal-opposite operation and start using a small-scale model comprising the inertial load equipment and the power converter. Further, traction motor is made to be equipped with a suspension torque. Pure electric braking that makes traction motor stop by an air brake at the time of stop is also implemented. Constant torque range and constant power range are expanded during braking so that braking force is secured with the electric brakes even in high speed region. Therefore, vehicle reduction effect can be expected by reducing parts related with an air brake which is not used frequently by using a pure electric brake in the M car in wide speed region. Further, maintenance of brake system can be reduced. Besides, ride comfort of passenger in the electric rail car, energy efficiency improvement, and noise reduction effect can be additionally expected. Further, an improved brake method that uses only an electric brake till motor stop is proposed by comparing those in the blending brake that uses an air brake while reducing brake torque at vehicle stop. 展开更多

A sliding mode control approach based on the feedback linearization is proposed for the electrically controllable clutch of AMT vehicles. The nonlinear dynamic model for the hydraulic actuator associated with clutch is established. By means of the exact feedback linearization procedure of differential geometry, an equivalent, fully controllable and linear model is derived via a homomorphic transformation for the AMT clutch system.Furthermore, a sliding mode control is introduced to improve robustness. The tracking tests are performed using the sliding mode control on a Santana LX passenger car, and the experimental results prove that this nonlinear controller is of fine robustness and high degree of tracking accuracy. 展开更多

Discrete linear quadratic control has been efciently applied to linear systems as an optimal control.However,a robotic system is highly nonlinear,heavily coupled and uncertain.To overcome the problem,the robotic system can be modeled as a linear discrete-time time-varying system in performing repetitive tasks.This modeling motivates us to develop an optimal repetitive control.The contribution of this paper is twofold.For the frst time,it presents discrete linear quadratic repetitive control for electrically driven robots using the mentioned model.The proposed control approach is based on the voltage control strategy.Second,uncertainty is efectively compensated by employing a robust time-delay controller.The uncertainty can include parametric uncertainty,unmodeled dynamics and external disturbances.To highlight its ability in overcoming the uncertainty,the dynamic equation of an articulated robot is introduced and used for the simulation,modeling and control purposes.Stability analysis verifes the proposed control approach and simulation results show its efectiveness. 展开更多

Recent progress in the electrical control of magnetism in oxides,with profound physics and enormous potential applications,is reviewed and illustrated.In the first part,we provide a comprehensive summary of the electrical control of magnetism in the classic multiferroic heterostructures and clarify the various mechanisms lying behind them.The second part focuses on the novel technique of electric double layer gating for driving a significant electronic phase transition in magnetic oxides by a small voltage.In the third part,electric field applied on ordinary dielectric oxide is used to control the magnetic phenomenon originating from charge transfer and orbital reconstruction at the interface between dissimilar correlated oxides.At the end,we analyze the challenges in electrical control of magnetism in oxides,both the mechanisms and practical applications,which will inspire more in-depth research and advance the development in this field. 展开更多

We demonstrate an electric-controlled terahertz(THz) modulator which can be used to realize amplitude modulation of terahertz waves with slight photo-doping. The THz pulse transmission was efficiently modulated by electrically controlling the monolayer silicon-based device. The modulation depth reached 100% almost when the applied voltage was 7V at an external laser intensity of 0.6W/cm2. The saturation voltage reduced with the increase of the photo-excited intensity. In a THz continuous wave(CW)system, a significant fall in both THz transmission and reflection was also observed with the increase of applied voltage. This reduction in the THz transmission and reflection was induced by the absorption for electron injection. The results show that a high-efficiency and high modulation depth broadband electric-controlled terahertz modulator in a pure Si structure has been realized. 展开更多
