The eco-economic system can be di...Based on the statistical data, we analyzed and evaluated the degree of coupling and coordination of the eco-economic system in Yanchi County for the period spanning from 1983 to 2014. The eco-economic system can be divided into socioeconomic and ecological sub-systems and their relationship can reveal the interaction state between the two sub-systems and help the local government to establish a coordinated development mode. An index system was constructed to assess the development of the two sub-systems before the evaluation of the degree of coupling and coordination. The principal component regression analysis was adopted to quantitatively assess the influences of natural, economic and social factors on the degree of coupling and coordination of the eco-economic system. Results showed that, from 1983 to 2014, the development trends of both sub-systems were increasing with the ecological sub-system having more fluctuations. The degree of coupling and coordination of the eco-economic system in the study area increased gradually from 1983 to 2014, but experienced five different development stages from the verge of disorder to favorable coordination. The development of the local social and economic conditions was the most important factor influencing the degree of coupling and coordination. The second most important factor was the financial support from the local government. In addition, the environment protection policies also played undeniable roles. Due to the diversity of the influence factors, the government should take comprehensive measures to promote the sustainable development of the eco-economic system.展开更多
To investigate the characteristics of service value of the karst rocky desertification ecosystem,we take water conservation,soil conservation,carbon-fixation and oxygen-production,production of organic matter,and puri...To investigate the characteristics of service value of the karst rocky desertification ecosystem,we take water conservation,soil conservation,carbon-fixation and oxygen-production,production of organic matter,and purification of atmospheric environment as function indicators,to conduct quantitative assessment and analysis of service function value of ecosystem in Bijie Yachi,Qingzhen Hongfenghu and Guanling-Zhenfeng Huajiang demonstration areas in Guizhou Province,using remote sensing and field monitoring data in 2006. The results show that the rate of contribution of water conservation,soil conservation,carbon-fixation and oxygen-production functions to regional service value is high ( 37. 05%,36. 68% and 23. 15%,respectively) ; the rate of contribution of production of organic matter and purification of atmospheric environment functions to regional service value is low ( 2. 80% and 0. 32%,respectively) . The ranking of landscape in terms of service value per unit area is as follows: forestland ( 23.353 9 million yuan) > shrub land ( 10.630 1 million yuan) > grassland ( 5.036 7 million yuan) > dry land ( 3.381 2 million yuan) > farmland ( 2.508 8 million yuan) . The ranking of demonstration areas in terms of service value per unit area is as follows: Yachi Demonstration Area ( 12.44 million yuan) > Hongfenghu Demonstration Area ( 5. 91 million yuan) > Huajiang Demonstration Area ( 4. 4 million yuan) . It is negatively correlated with rocky desertification incidence within the region. The results also indicate that in the process of restoring and reconstructing the ecological environment in rocky desertification areas,increasing the area of forest vegetation,promoting the conversion of dry land and farmland into forestland, shrub land and grassland,will contribute to enhancement in ecological service value.展开更多
Eco-efficiency is a valuable tool for managing and solving issues involving resource consumption and pollution emission in current production processes.Despite the popularity of the term"eco-efficiency"in bu...Eco-efficiency is a valuable tool for managing and solving issues involving resource consumption and pollution emission in current production processes.Despite the popularity of the term"eco-efficiency"in business,limited attention has been paid to measuring and reporting regional eco-efficiency for local government policy makers.Based on the concept and method of eco-efficiency,an indicator system of regional eco-efficiency is established in this study.The indicator system comprises 22 indicators,which are divided in to three categories including socio-economic development,resources consumption, environmental pressure.As a promising statistical technique, principle component analysis is used to set the weight of indicators which attempts to calculate the eco-efficiency indices of Qingdao's Chengyang District.The results show that the eco-efficiency of Chengyang District has clearly improved 35.1% with small fluctuation from 1995 to 2003.Socio-economic development index and resources consumption index also represent obvious increasing trends.The correlation coefficient between soci-economic development index and resources consumption index is 0.979,which means the social progress and economic growth of Chengyang District depend on an extravagant consumption of resources.The environmental pressure index increased slowly before 1997 and declined gradually after 1997,due to more attention being paid to environmental protection by local government in recent years.Chengyang District still keeps the traditional economic development mode with a high consumption and high production,so the emphases of future development should put on improving the improving the efficient use of natural resources and promoting environmental management sustainability.The results show that the indicators system of regional eco-efficiency is a promising method to quantitatively evaluate resources and environmental efficiency and provide an effective decision-making support for local governments.展开更多
