In recent decades, control performance monitoring(CPM)has experienced remarkable progress in research and industrial applications. While CPM research has been investigated using various benchmarks, the historical data benchmark(HIS)has garnered the most attention due to its practicality and effectiveness. However, existing CPM reviews usually focus on the theoretical benchmark, and there is a lack of an in-depth review that thoroughly explores HIS-based methods. In this article,a comprehensive overview of HIS-based CPM is provided.First,we provide a novel static-dynamic perspective on data-level manifestations of control performance underlying typical controller capacities including regulation and servo:static and dynamic properties. The static property portrays time-independent variability in system output, and the dynamic property describes temporal behavior driven by closed-loop feedback.Accordingly, existing HIS-based CPM approaches and their intrinsic motivations are classified and analyzed from these two perspectives.Specifically, two mainstream solutions for CPM methods are summarized, including static analysis and dynamic analysis, which match data-driven techniques with actual controlling behavior.Furthermore, this paper also points out various opportunities and challenges faced in CPM for modern industry and provides promising directions in the context of artificial intelligence for inspiring future research. 展开更多

In common practice in the oil fields, the injection of water and gas into reservoirs is a crucial technique to increase production. The control of the waterflooding front in oil/gas exploitation is a matter of great concern to reservoir engineers.Monitoring the waterflooding front in oil/gas wells plays a very important role in adjusting the well network and later in production, taking advantage of the remaining oil po-tential and ultimately achieving great success in improving the recovery rate. For a long time,micro-seismic monitoring, numerical simulation,four-dimensional seismic and other methods have been widely used in waterflooding front monitoring. However, reconciling their reliability and cost poses a significant challenge. In order to achieve real-time,reliable and cost-effective monitoring,we propose an innovative method for waterflooding front monitoring through the similarity analysis of passive source time-lapse seismic images.Typically, passive source seismic data collected from oil fields have extremely low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR),which poses a serious problem for obtaining structural images. The proposed method aims to visualize and analyze underground changes by highlighting time-lapse images and provide a strategy for underground monitoring using long-term passive source data under low SNR conditions.First,we verify the feasibility of the proposed method by designing a theoretical model. Then,we conduct an analysis of the correlation coefficient(similarity)on the passive source time-lapse seismic imaging results to enhance the image differences and identify the simulated waterflooding fronts. Finally, the proposed method is applied to the actual waterflooding front monitoring tasks in Shengli Oilfield,China. The research findings indicate that the monitoring results are consistent with the actual devel-opment conditions, which in turn demonstrates that the proposed method has great potential for practical application and is very suitable for monitoring common development tasks in oil fields. 展开更多

Addressing the current challenges in transforming pixel displacement into physical displacement in visual monitoring technologies,as well as the inability to achieve precise full-field monitoring, this paper proposes a method for identifying the structural dynamic characteristics of wind turbines based on visual monitoring data fusion.Firstly, the Lucas-Kanade Tomasi(LKT)optical flow method and a multi-region of interest(ROI)monitoring structure are employed to track pixel displacements, which are subsequently subjected to band pass filtering and resampling operations.Secondly, the actual displacement time history is derived through double integration of the acquired acceleration data and subsequent band pass filtering. The scale factor is obtained by applying the least squares method to compare the visual displacement with the displacement derived from double integration of the acceleration data.Based on this, the multi-point displacement time histories under physical coordinates are obtained using the vision data and the scale factor.Subsequently, when visual monitoring of displacements becomes impossible due to issues such as image blurring or lens occlusion, the structural vibration equation and boundary condition constraints, among other key parameters, are employed to predict the displacements at unknown monitoring points, thereby enabling full-field displacement monitoring and dynamic characteristic testing of the structure. Finally,a small-scale shaking table test was conducted on a simulated wind turbine structure undergoing shutdown to validate the dynamic characteristics of the proposed method through test verification. The research results indicate that the proposed method achieves a time-domain error within the submillimeter range and a frequency-domain accuracy of over 99%,effectively monitoring the full-field structural dynamic characteristics of wind turbines and providing a basis for the condition assessment of wind turbine structures. 展开更多

Dynamic stress adjustment in deep-buried high geostress hard rock tunnels frequently triggers catastrophic failures such as rockbursts and collapses. While a comprehensive understanding of this process is critical for evaluating surrounding rock stability, its dynamic evolution are often overlooked in engineering practice. This study systematically summarizes a novel classification framework for stress adjustment types—stabilizing(two-zoned),shallow failure(three-zoned),and deep failure(four-zoned)—characterized by distinct stress adjustment stages.A dynamic interpretation technology system is developed based on microseismic monitoring, integrating key microseismic parameters(energy index EI,apparent stressσa,microseismic activity S),seismic source parameter space clustering, and microseismic paths. This approach enables precise identification of evolutionary stages, stress adjustment types, and failure precursors, thereby elucidating the intrinsic linkage between geomechanical processes(stress redistribution)and failure risks. The study establishes criteria and procedures for identifying stress adjustment types and their associated failure risks, which were successfully applied in the Grand Canyon Tunnel of the E-han Highway to detect 50 instances of disaster risks. The findings offer invaluable insights into understanding the evolution process of stress adjustment and pinpointing the disaster risks linked to hard rock in comparable high geostress tunnels. 展开更多

This study developed a digital twin(DT)and structural health monitoring(SHM)system for a balanced cantilever bridge, utilizing advanced measurement techniques to enhance accuracy.Vibration and dynamic strain measurements were obtained using accelerometers and piezo-resistive strain gauges, capturing low-magnitude dynamic strains during operational vibrations.3D-LiDAR scanning and Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity(UPV)tests captured the bridge's as-is geometry and modulus of elasticity. The resulting detailed 3D point cloud model revealed the structure's true state and highlighted discrepancies between the as-designed and as-built conditions.Dynamic properties, including modal frequencies and shapes, were extracted from the strain and acceleration measurements, providing critical insights into the bridge's structural behavior. The neutral axis depth, indicating stress distribution and potential damage, was accurately determined.Good agreement between vibration measurement data and the as-is model results validated the reliability of the digital twin model.Dynamic strain patterns and neutral axis parameters showed strong correlation with model predictions, serving as sensitive indicators of local damage. The baseline digital twin model and measurement results establish a foundation for future bridge inspections and investigations. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of combining digital twin technology with field measurements for real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance, ensuring the sustainability and safety of the bridge infrastructure, thereby enhancing its overall resilience to operational and environmental stressors. 展开更多

Data-driven process monitoring is an effective approach to assure safe operation of modern manufacturing and energy systems, such as thermal power plants being studied in this work.Industrial processes are inherently dynamic and need to be monitored using dynamic algorithms.Mainstream dynamic algorithms rely on concatenating current measurement with past data. This work proposes a new, alternative dynamic process monitoring algorithm, using dot product feature analysis(DPFA).DPFA computes the dot product of consecutive samples, thus naturally capturing the process dynamics through temporal correlation. At the same time,DPFA's online computational complexity is lower than not just existing dynamic algorithms, but also classical static algorithms(e.g.,principal component analysis and slow feature analysis). The detectability of the new algorithm is analyzed for three types of faults typically seen in process systems:sensor bias, process fault and gain change fault.Through experiments with a numerical example and real data from a thermal power plant, the DPFA algorithm is shown to be superior to the state-of-the-art methods,in terms of better monitoring performance(fault detection rate and false alarm rate)and lower computational complexity. 展开更多

Biotite content critically influences rock mechanical behavior and threatens underground engineering stability.Uniaxial compression tests with acoustic emission(AE)monitoring were conducted on granite pegmatite samples having varying biotite content.Peak frequency distribution analysis, rise angleaverage frequency(RA-AF)analysis,multifractal theory, and a dynamic multifractal algorithm were applied to explore the relationship between damage evolution and AE characteristics. Results indicate that increased biotite content reduces uniaxial compressive strength and elastic modulus, enhances plastic deformation, and increases the proportion of shear cracks. The segmented evolution of the dynamic multifractal parameter Δα_(m) is biotite-dependent.Oscillations during the elastic phase signify localized shear crack initiation and propagation;their attenuation in the plastic phase reflects frictional closure along biotite cleavage planes, promoting elastic energy storage and delaying release.AE-based damage models and time-varying signals characterize rock damage progression.Stress concentrations around biotite minerals foster localized shear band formation, leading to concentrated shear failure at lower damage levels.Higher biotite content accelerates crack propagation, while smooth cleavage planes lower the fracture energy threshold, reducing strength and stiffness. These findings enhance understanding of biotite-influenced progressive rock damage and underpin stability monitoring and early-warning systems for underground engineering. 展开更多

Kernel-based slow feature analysis(SFA)methods have been successfully applied in the industrial process fault detection field.However,kernel-based SFA methods have high computational complexity as dealing with nonlinearity, leading to delays in detecting time-varying data features.Additionally, the uncertain kernel function and kernel parameters limit the ability of the extracted features to express process characteristics, resulting in poor fault detection performance. To alleviate the above problems,a novel randomized auto-regressive dynamic slow feature analysis(RRDSFA)method is proposed to simultaneously monitor the operating point deviations and process dynamic faults, enabling real-time monitoring of data features in industrial processes.Firstly, the proposed Random Fourier mappingbased method achieves more effective nonlinear transformation, contrasting with the current kernelbased RDSFA algorithm that may lead to significant computational complexity.Secondly,a randomized RDSFA model is developed to extract nonlinear dynamic slow features.Furthermore,a Bayesian inference-based overall fault monitoring model including all RRDSFA sub-models is developed to overcome the randomness of random Fourier mapping. Finally, the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed monitoring method are demonstrated through a numerical case and a simulation of continuous stirred tank reactor. 展开更多

A rapidly growing field is piezoresistive sensor for accurate respiration rate monitoring to suppress the worldwide respiratory illness. However,a large neglected issue is the sensing durability and accuracy without interference since the expiratory pressure always coupled with external humidity and temperature variations,as well as mechanical motion artifacts.Herein,a robust and biodegradable piezoresistive sensor is reported that consists of heterogeneous MXene/cellulose-gelation sensing layer and Ag-based interdigital electrode, featuring customizable cylindrical interface arrangement and compact hierarchical laminated architecture for collectively regulating the piezoresistive response and mechanical robustness, thereby realizing the long-term breath-induced pressure detection.Notably, molecular dynamics simulations reveal the frequent angle inversion and reorientation of MXene/cellulose in vacuum filtration, driven by shear forces and interfacial interactions, which facilitate the establishment of hydrogen bonds and optimize the architecture design in sensing layer. The resultant sensor delivers unprecedented collection features of superior stability for off-axis deformation(0-120°,~2.8×10^(-3) A)and sensing accuracy without crosstalk(humidity 50%-100%and temperature 30-80).Besides,the sensor-embedded mask together with machine learning models is achieved to train and classify the respiration status for volunteers with different ages(average prediction accuracy~90%).It is envisioned that the customizable architecture design and sensor paradigm will shed light on the advanced stability of sustainable electronics and pave the way for the commercial application in respiratory monitory. 展开更多

Recently, the outbreak and spread of larch caterpillar(Dendrolimus superans)pests have emerged as significant contributors to forest degradation in the Changbai Mountains,China.Understanding the spatiotemporal distribution patterns of these pests is crucial for effective management and protection of forest ecosystems. This study proposes a pest monitoring approach based on Sentinel imagery.Through time-series analysis,we extracted pest-sensitive features and developed a random forest classifier that integrated Sentinel-1,Sentinel-2,and field sampling data from 2019–2023 to monitor larch caterpillar pests in the Changbai Mountains National Nature Reserve(CMNNR),Northeast China. Our findings indicated that bands green(B3),near-infrared(B8),short wave infrared(B11 and B12)from Sentinel-2 remote sensing images exhibited notable discriminative capabilities for identifying larch caterpillar pests.Specifically, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI)at the end of the growing season emerged as the most valuable feature for pest extraction.Incorporating Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR)features along with optical data marginally enhances model performance.Furthermore, our approach unveiled the outbreak of larch caterpillar pests, achieving classification map with overall accuracy exceeding 85%and Kappa coefficient surpassing 0.8 for five study years. The pest outbreak began in 2019 and progressively intensified over time.In September 2019,the affected area spanned 114.23 km^(2).The infested area exhibited a declining trend from 2020 to 2023.This study introduces a novel method for the high-precision identification of larch caterpillar pests, offering technical advancements and theoretical underpinnings to support forest management strategies. 展开更多

The growing prevalence of exercise-induced tibial stress fractures demands wearable sensors capable of monitoring dynamic musculoskeletal loads with medical-grade precision. While flexible pressure-sensing insoles show clinical potential, their development has been hindered by the intrinsic trade-off between high sensitivity and full-range linearity(R^(2)>0.99 up to 1 MPa)in conventional designs.Inspired by the tactile sensing mechanism of human skin, where dermal stratification enables wide-range pressure adaptation and ion-channelregulated signaling maintains linear electrical responses,we developed a dual-mechanism flexible iontronic pressure sensor(FIPS).This innovative design synergistically combines two bioinspired components:interdigitated fabric microstructures enabling pressure-proportional contact area expansion(αP1/3)and iontronic film facilitating self-adaptive ion concentration modulation(αP^(2/3)),which together generate a linear capacitance-pressure response(CαP).The FIPS achieves breakthrough performance:242 kPa^(-1)sensitivity with 0.997linearity across 0-1 MPa,yielding a record linear sensing factor(LSF=242,000).The design is validated across various substrates and ionic materials, demonstrating its versatility. Finally, the FIPS-driven design enables a smart insole demonstrating 1.8%error in tibial load assessment during gait analysis, outperforming nonlinear counterparts(6.5%error)in early fracture-risk prediction. The biomimetic design framework establishes a universal approach for developing high-performance linear sensors, establishing generalized principles for medical-grade wearable devices. 展开更多

THE mechanical response and deformation mechanisms of pure nickel under nanoindentation were systematically investigated using molecular dynamics(MD)simulations, with a particular focus on the novel interplay between crystallographic orientation, grain boundary(GB)proximity, and pore characteristics(size/location).This study compares single-crystal nickel models along[100],[110],and[111]orientations with equiaxed polycrystalline models containing 0,1,and 2.5 nm pores in surface and subsurface configurations. Our results reveal that crystallographic anisotropy manifests as a 24.4%higher elastic modulus and 22.2%greater hardness in[111]-oriented single crystals compared to[100].Pore-GB synergistic effects are found to dominate the deformation behavior:2.5 nm subsurface pores reduce hardness by 25.2%through stress concentration and dislocation annihilation at GBs,whereas surface pores enable mechanical recovery via accelerated dislocation generation post-collapse.Additionally,size-dependent deformation regimes were identified, with 1 nm pores inducing negligible perturbation due to rapid atomic rearrangement,in contrast with persistent softening in 2.5 nm pores. These findings establish atomic-scale design principles for defect engineering in nickel-based aerospace components, demonstrating how crystallographic orientation, pore configuration, and GB interactions collectively govern nanoindentation behavior. 展开更多

Pulsed dynamic electrolysis(PDE),driven by renewable energy, has emerged as an innovative electrocatalytic conversion method, demonstrating significant potential in addressing global energy challenges and promoting sustainable development.Despite significant progress in various electrochemical systems, the regulatory mechanisms of PDE in energy and mass transfer and the lifespan extension of electrolysis systems, particularly in water electrolysis(WE)for hydrogen production, remain insufficiently explored. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a deeper understanding of the unique contributions of PDE in mass transfer enhancement, microenvironment regulation, and hydrogen production optimization, aiming to achieve low-energy consumption, high catalytic activity, and long-term stability in the generation of target products. Here, this review critically examines the microenvironmental effects of PDE on energy and mass transfer, the electrode degradation mechanisms in the lifespan extension of electrolysis systems, and the key factors in enhancing WE for hydrogen production, providing a comprehensive summary of current research progress. The review focuses on the complex regulatory mechanisms of frequency, duty cycle, amplitude, and other factors in hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)performance within PDE strategies, revealing the interrelationships among them. Finally, the potential future directions and challenges for transitioning from laboratory studies to industrial applications are proposed. 展开更多
