Using the negative eigenvalue theory and the infinite order perturbation theory, a new method was developed to solve the eigenvectors of disordered systems. The result shows that eigenvectors change from the extended state to the localized state with the increase of the site points and the disordered degree of the system. When electric field is exerted, the electrons transfer from one localized state to another one. The conductivity is induced by the electron transfer. The authors derive the formula of electron conductivity and find the electron hops between localized states whose energies are close to each other, whereas localized positions differ from each other greatly. At low temperature the disordered system has the character of the negative differential dependence of resistivity and temperature. 展开更多

Based on a tight-binding disordered model describing a single electron band, we establish a direct current (de) electronic hopping transport conductance model of one-dimensional diagonal disordered systems, and also derive a dc conductance formula. By calculating the dc conductivity, the relationships between electric field and conductivity and between temperature and conductivity are analysed, and the role played by the degree of disorder in electronic transport is studied. The results indicate the conductivity of systems decreasing with the increase of the degree of disorder, characteristics of negative differential dependence of resistance on temperature at, low temperatures in diagonal disordered systems, and the conductivity of systems decreasing with the increase of electric field, featuring the non-Ohm's law conductivity. 展开更多

The Chern number is often used to distinguish different topological phases of matter in two-dimensional electron systems. A fast and efficient coupling-matrix method is designed to calculate the Chern number in finite crystalline and disordered systems. To show its effectiveness, we apply the approach to the Haldane model and the lattice Hofstadter model, and obtain the correct quantized Chern numbers. The disorder-induced topological phase transition is well reproduced, when the disorder strength is increased beyond the critical value. We expect the method to be widely applicable to the study of topological quantum numbers. 展开更多

Machine Intelligence for Mental Health Diagnosis: A Systematic Review of Methods, Algorithms, and Key Challenges

Objective:The increasing global prevalence of mental health disorders highlights the urgent need for the development of innovative diagnostic methods.Conditions such as anxiety,depression,stress,bipolar disorder(BD),and autism spectrum disorder(ASD)frequently arise from the complex interplay of demographic,biological,and socioeconomic factors,resulting in aggravated symptoms.This review investigates machine intelligence approaches for the early detection and prediction of mental health conditions.Methods:The preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses(PRISMA)framework was employed to conduct a systematic review and analysis covering the period 2018 to 2025.The potential impact of machine intelligence methods was assessed by considering various strategies,hybridization of algorithms,tools,techniques,and datasets,and their applicability.Results:Through a systematic review of studies concentrating on the prediction and evaluation of mental disorders using machine intelligence algorithms,advancements,limitations,and gaps in current methodologies were highlighted.The datasets and tools utilized in these investigations were examined,offering a detailed overview of the status of computational models in understanding and diagnosing mental health disorders.Recent research indicated considerable improvements in diagnostic accuracy and treatment effectiveness,particularly for depression and anxiety,which have shown the greatest methodological diversity and notable advancements in machine intelligence.Conclusions:Despite these improvements,challenges persist,including the need for more diverse datasets,ethical issues surrounding data privacy and algorithmic bias,and obstacles to integrating these technologies into clinical settings.This synthesis emphasizes the transformative potential of machine intelligence in enhancing mental healthcare. 展开更多

The coherent potential approximation(CPA)within full counting statistics(FCS)formalism is shown to be a suitable method to investigate average electric conductance,shot noise as well as higher order cumulants in disordered systems.We develop a similar FCS-CPA formalism for phonon transport through disordered systems.As a byproduct,we derive relations among coefficients of different phonon current cumulants.We apply the FCS-CPA method to investigate phonon transport properties of graphene systems in the presence of disorders.For binary disorders as well as Anderson disorders,we calculate up to the 8-th phonon transmission moments and demonstrate that the numerical results of the FCS-CPA method agree very well with that of the brute force method.The benchmark shows that the FCS-CPA method achieves 20 times more speedup ratio.Collective features of phonon current cumulants are also revealed. 展开更多

Two kinds of spin-dependent scattering effects (magnetic-impurity and spin-orbit scatterings) are investigated theoretically in a quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) disordered electron system. By making use of the diagrammatic techniques in perturbation theory, we have calculated the dc conductivity and magnetoresistance due to weak-localization effects, the analytical expressions of them are obtained as functions of the interlayer hopping energy and the characteristic times: elastic, inelastic, magnetic and spin-orbit scattering times. The relevant dimensional crossover behavior from 3D to 2D with decreasing the interlayer coupling is discussed, and the condition for the crossover is shown to be dependent on the aforementioned scattering times. At low temperature there exists a spin-dependent-scattering-induced dimensional crossover in this system. 展开更多

By making use of the diagrammatic techniques in perturbation theory,we have investigated the Hall effect in a quasi-two-dimensional disordered electron system.In the weakly localized regime,the analytical expression for quantum correction to Hall conductivity has been obtained using the Kubo formalism and quasiclassical approximation.The relevant dimensional crossover behavior from three dimensions to two dimensions with decreasing the interlayer hopping energy is discussed.The quantum interference effect is shown to have a vanishing correction t,o the Hall coefficient. 展开更多

We study the thermalization of a quenched disordered Bose–Hubbard system. By considering the eigenstate distribution fluctuation, we show that the thermal to many-body localized transition is always connected to a minimum of this distribution fluctuation. We also observe a Mott-localized regime, where the system fails to thermalize due to the strong on-site repulsion. Lastly, we show how to detect this eigenstate distribution fluctuation in a cold atom system, which is equivalent to measure the Loschmidt echo of the system. Our work suggests a way to measure the thermal-to-localized transitions in experiments, especially for a large system. 展开更多

Copper is a transition metal and an essential element for the organism,as alterations in its homeostasis leading to metal accumulation or deficiency have pathological effects in several organs,including the central nervous system.Central copper dysregulations have been evidenced in two genetic disorders characterized by mutations in the copper-ATPases ATP7A and ATP7B,Menkes disease and Wilson’s disease,respectively,and also in multifactorial neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease,Parkinson’s disease,amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,and multiple sclerosis.This review summarizes current knowledge about the role of copper in central nervous system physiology and pathology,reports about unbalances in copper levels and/or distribution under disease,describes relevant animal models for human disorders where copper metabolism genes are dysregulated,and discusses relevant therapeutic approaches modulating copper availability.Overall,alterations in copper metabolism may contribute to the etiology of central nervous system disorders and represent relevant therapeutic targets to restore tissue homeostasis. 展开更多

The protein connector enhancer of kinase suppressor of Ras 2(CNKSR2),present in both the postsynaptic density and cytoplasm of neurons,is a scaffolding protein with several protein-binding domains.Variants of the CNKSR2 gene have been implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders,particularly intellectual disability,although the precise mechanism involved has not yet been fully understood.Research has demonstrated that CNKSR2 plays a role in facilitating the localization of postsynaptic density protein complexes to the membrane,thereby influencing synaptic signaling and the morphogenesis of dendritic spines.However,the function of CNKSR2 in the cytoplasm remains to be elucidated.In this study,we used immunoprecipitation and high-resolution liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry to identify the interactors of CNKSR2.Through a combination of bioinformatic analysis and cytological experiments,we found that the CNKSR2 interactors were significantly enriched in the proteome of the centrosome.We also showed that CNKSR2 interacted with the microtubule protein DYNC1H1 and with the centrosome marker CEP290.Subsequent colocalization analysis confirmed the centrosomal localization of CNKSR2.When we downregulated CNKSR2 expression in mouse neuroblastoma cells(Neuro 2A),we observed significant changes in the expression of numerous centrosomal genes.This manipulation also affected centrosome-related functions,including cell size and shape,cell proliferation,and motility.Furthermore,we found that CNKSR2 interactors were highly enriched in de novo variants associated with intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder.Our findings establish a connection between CNKSR2 and the centrosome,and offer new insights into the underlying mechanisms of neurodevelopmental disorders. 展开更多

Various nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems for the treatment of neurological disorders have been widely studied.However,their inability to cross the blood–brain barrier hampers the clinical translation of these therapeutic strategies.Liposomes are nanoparticles composed of lipid bilayers,which can effectively encapsulate drugs and improve drug delivery across the blood–brain barrier and into brain tissue through their targeting and permeability.Therefore,they can potentially treat traumatic and nontraumatic central nervous system diseases.In this review,we outlined the common properties and preparation methods of liposomes,including thin-film hydration,reverse-phase evaporation,solvent injection techniques,detergent removal methods,and microfluidics techniques.Afterwards,we comprehensively discussed the current applications of liposomes in central nervous system diseases,such as Alzheimer's disease,Parkinson's disease,Huntington's disease,amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,traumatic brain injury,spinal cord injury,and brain tumors.Most studies related to liposomes are still in the laboratory stage and have not yet entered clinical trials.Additionally,their application as drug delivery systems in clinical practice faces challenges such as drug stability,targeting efficiency,and safety.Therefore,we proposed development strategies related to liposomes to further promote their development in neurological disease research. 展开更多

A Yb:CaGd_(0.33)Y_(0.625)AlO_(4)(Yb:CGYA)laser crystal of high optical quality has been successfully synthesized via the Czochralski method.The introduction of Gd^(3+)ions preserves the original structure and efficiently generates inhomogeneous broadening of the Yb^(3+)ion emission spectra.The fluorescence emission peak wavelength of the Yb:CGYA crystal is 1053 nm,and the corresponding measured full width at halfmaximum is 93 nm.A tunable laser output ranging from 1017 nm to 1073 nm is achieved by using a birefringent filter,which represents the broadest tuning range reported in a short cavity to date.The compact laser offers significant advantages for its applications around the 1μm wavelength band. 展开更多

Unraveling functional neurological disorder in pediatric populations:A systematic review of diagnosis,treatment,and outcomes

BACKGROUND Functional neurological disorder(FND)in children is a complex and multifaceted condition characterized by neurological symptoms that cannot be explained by organic pathology.Despite its prevalence,FND in pediatric populations remains under-researched,with challenges in diagnosis and management AIM To synthesize the current literature on FND in children,focusing on clinical presentation,diagnostic approaches,treatment strategies,and outcomes.METHODS A comprehensive literature search was conducted across multiple databases,including PubMed,Scopus,and Web of Science,for articles published up to August 2024.Studies were included if they addressed FND in pediatric populations,specifically focusing on review articles,research articles,systematic reviews,meta-analyses,case reports,guidelines,expert opinions,and editorials.Data extraction and quality assessment were performed according to PRISMA guidelines.A total of 308 articles were included in the final analysis.RESULTS The analysis included 189 review articles,57 research articles,3 systematic reviews and meta-analyses,5 case reports,2 guidelines,5 expert opinions,and 2 editorials.Key findings revealed a broad spectrum of symptoms,including motor and sensory disturbances and psychological factors contributing to the onset and persistence of FND.Diagnostic challenges were frequently highlighted,emphasizing the need for interdisciplinary approaches.Treatment strategies varied,with cognitive-behavioral therapy(CBT)and multidisciplinary care emerging as the most effective approaches.The outcomes varied,with early intervention being critical for a better prognosis.CONCLUSION Early diagnosis and multidisciplinary care,including CBT,are critical for improving outcomes in pediatric FND.Standardized diagnostic criteria and treatment protocols are needed to enhance clinical management. 展开更多

Cation-induced topical disordered niobium nickel oxide for robust hydrogen storage in magnesium hydride

Catalytic doping is one of the economic and efficient strategies to optimize the operating temperature and kinetic behavior of magnesium hydride(MgH_(2)).Herein,efficient regulation of electronic and structural rearrangements in niobium-rich nickel oxides was achieved through precise compositional design and niobium cation functionalized doping,thereby greatly enhancing its intrinsic catalytic activity in hydrogen storage systems.As the niobium concentration increased,the Ni-Nb catalysts transformed into a mixed state of multi-phase nanoparticles(composed of nickel and niobium-rich nickel oxides)with smaller particle size and uniform distribution,thus exposing more nucleation sites and diffusion channels at the MgH_(2)/Mg interface.In addition,the additional generation of active Ni-Nb-O mixed phase induced numerous highly topical disordered and distorted crystalline,promoting the transfer and reorganization of H atoms.As a result,a stable and continuous multi-phase/component synergistic catalytic microenvironment could be constructed,exerting remarkable enhancement on MgH_(2)’s hydrogen storage performance.After comparative tests,Ni_(0.7)Nb_(0.3)-doped MgH_(2) presented the optimal low-temperature kinetics with a dehydrogenation activation energy of 78.8 kJ·mol^(−1).The onset dehydrogenation temperature of MgH_(2)+10 wt%Ni_(0.7)Nb_(0.3) was reduced to 198℃ and 6.18 wt%H_(2) could be released at 250℃ within 10 min.In addition,the dehydrogenated MgH_(2)–NiNb composites absorbed 4.87 wt%H_(2) in 10 min at 125℃ and a capacity retention rate was maintained at 6.18 wt%even after 50 reaction cycles.In a word,our work supplies fresh insights for designing novel defective-state multiphase catalysts for hydrogen storage and other energy related field. 展开更多

We investigate the mixed-state entanglement between two spins embedded in the XXZ Heisenberg chain under thermal equilibrium.By deriving an analytical expression for the entanglement of two-spin thermal states and extending this analysis to larger spin chains,we demonstrate that mixed-state entanglement is profoundly shaped by both disorder and temperature.Our results reveal a sharp distinction between many-body localized and ergodic phases,with entanglement vanishing above diferent fnite temperature thresholds.Furthermore,by analyzing non-adjacent spins,we uncover an approximate exponential decay of entanglement with separation.This work advances the understanding of the quantum-to-classical transition by linking the entanglement properties of small subsystems to the broader thermal environment,ofering an explanation for the absence of entanglement in macroscopic systems.These fndings provide critical insights into quantum many-body physics,bridging concepts from thermalization,localization,and quantum information theory. 展开更多

Caregiver Burden of Children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD):A Systematic Review

Background Raising a child with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD)is a key challenge for the primary caregiver.This systematic review aims to identify major burdens facing the primary caregiver of a child with ADHD.Methods The electronic databases CINAHL,PubMed,and Google Scholar were searched for studies published in English from 2017 to 2022 assessing the challenges facing caregivers of a child with ADHD.The Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice Model was used to assess quality and risk of bias of studies identified for inclusion.Articles were synthesized by evaluating principal themes of burden to caregivers,stress of caregivers,and effectiveness of intervention programs.Results Eleven articles were included in this review and included a total of 2426 participants.Findings revealed that caregivers of children with ADHD have a poor quality of life and high stress levels.Supportive parenting programs can be effective for improved coping and adaptation mechanisms with children with ADHD.However,few interventional studies were identified,increasing potential for bias.No meta-analysis was conducted.Conclusion Caregivers of children with ADHD can benefit from strategies to improve their quality of life and reduce their stress levels.Targeted parenting programs can make a positive difference in the well-being of caregivers and children with ADHD.Additional research is needed to address the evidence-based effectiveness of parenting support programs. 展开更多

Ferroptosis is a form of cell death elicited by an imbalance in intracellular iron concentrations,leading to enhanced lipid peroxidation.In neurological disorders,both oxidative stress and mitochondrial damage can contribute to ferroptosis,resulting in nerve cell dysfunction and death.The ubiquitin-proteasome system(UPS)refers to a cellular pathway in which specific proteins are tagged with ubiquitin for recognition and degradation by the proteasome.In neuro-logical conditions,the UPS plays a significant role in regu-lating ferroptosis.In this review,we outline how the UPS regulates iron metabolism,ferroptosis,and their interplay in neurological diseases.In addition,we discuss the future application of small-molecule inhibitors and identify poten-tial drug targets.Further investigation into the mechanisms of UPS-mediated ferroptosis will provide novel insights and strategies for therapeutic interventions and clinical applica-tions in neurological diseases. 展开更多
