Ambient noise tomography(ANT)has been widely used to image crust and upmost mantle structures.ANT assumes that sources of ambient noise are diffuse and evenly distributed in space and the energy of different modes is equipartitioned. At present, the sources of the primary and the secondary microseisms are well studied, but there are only a few on the studies of long-period ambient noise sources. In this study,we study the effects of large earthquake signals on the recovery of surface waves from seismic ambient noise data recorded by seismic stations from the US permanent networks and Global Seismographic Network(GSN).Our results show that large earthquake signals play an important role on the recovery of long-period surface waves from ambient noise cross-correlation functions. Our results are consistent with previous studies that suggest the contribution of earthquake signals to the recovery of surface waves from cross-correlations of ambient noise is dominant at periods larger than 20–40 s. 展开更多

In this paper,an analysis-definition-processing(ADP)framework is proposed to search positive-incentive noise in continuous action iterated dilemma(CAID).We analyze the influence of communication noise on the cooperative behavior of players in the system and introduce the concept of positive-incentive noise in CAID.We design a global cost function to ensure convergence of the system can be achieved and strive to improve the final level of cooperation. An optimal CAID control method is proposed to derive the deterministic optimal learning rate in analytical form, avoiding the variability and uncertainty brought about by neural network fitting or parameter adjustment. On this basis, the convergence of the dynamic model is further analyzed by using the Lyapunov function instead of the Jacobian matrix.Additionally,an adaptive filtering mechanism is designed to dynamically ensure that only positive-incentive noise affects the system, effectively reducing the impact of negative noise and enhancing system stability. The framework is validated through simulations involving triple classical game models, including the hawk-dove game, the stag hunt game, the chicken game on networks, and a straightforward illustrative example. 展开更多

Long-time cross correlation of ambient noise has been proved as a powerful tool to extract Green's function between two receivers. The study of composition of ambient noise is important for a better understanding of this method. Previous studies confirm that ambient noise in the long period (3 s and longer) mostly consists of surface wave, and 0.25-2.5 s noise consists more of body waves. In this paper, we perform cross correlation processing at much higher frequency (30-70 Hz) using ambient noise recorded by a small aperture array. No surface waves emerge from noise correlation function (NCF), but weak P waves emerge. The absence of surface wave in NCF is not due to high attenuation since surface waves are strong from active source, therefore probably the high ambient noise mostly consists of body wave and lacks surface wave. Origin of such high frequency body waves in ambient noise remains to be studied. 展开更多

The amount of seismological data is rapidly increasing with accumulating observational time and increasing number of stations, requiring modern technique to provide adequate computing power. In present study, we proposed a framework to calculate large-scale noise crosscorrelation functions(NCFs) using public cloud service from ALIYUN. The entire computation is factorized into small pieces which are performed parallelly on specified number of virtual servers provided by the cloud. Using data from most seismic stations in China, five NCF databases are built. The results show that, comparing to the time cost using a single server, the entire time can be reduced over two orders of magnitude depending number of evoked virtual servers. This could reduce computation time from months to less than 12 hours. Based on obtained massive NCFs, the global body waves are retrieved through array interferometry and agree well with those from earthquakes. This leads to a solution to process massive seismic dataset within an affordable time and is applicable to other large-scale computing in seismological researches. 展开更多

Theoretical and experimental studies indicate that complete Green's Function can be retrieved from cross-correlation in a diffuse field. High SNR(signal-to-noise ratio) surface waves have been extracted from cross-correlations of long-duration ambient noise across the globe. Body waves, not extracted in most of ambient noise studies, are thought to be more difficult to retrieve from regular ambient noise data processing. By stacking cross-correlations of ambient noise in 50 km inter-station distance bins in China, western United States and Europe, we observed coherent 20–100 s core phases(Sc S, PKIKPPKIKP, PcP PKPPKP) and crustal-mantle phases(Pn, P, PL, Sn, S, SPL, SnS n, SS, SSPL) at distances ranging from 0 to 4000 km. Our results show that these crustal-mantle phases show diverse characteristics due to different substructure and sources of body waves beneath different regions while the core phases are relatively robust and can be retrieved as long as stations are available. Further analysis indicates that the SNR of these body-wave phases depends on a compromise between stacking fold in spatial domain and the coherence of pre-stacked cross-correlations. Spatially stacked cross-correlations of seismic noise can provide new virtual seismograms for paths that complement earthquake data and that contain valuable information on the structure of the Earth. The extracted crustal-mantle phases can be used to study lithospheric heterogeneities and the robust core phases are significantly useful to study the deep structure of the Earth, such as detecting fine heterogeneities of the core-mantle boundary and constraining differential rotation of the inner core. 展开更多

Seismic monitoring using ocean bottom seismometers(OBS) is an efficient method for investigating earthquakes in mid-ocean ridge far away from land. Clock synchronization among the OBSs is difficult without direct communication because electromagnetic signals cannot propagate efficiently in water. Time correction can be estimated through global positioning system(GPS) synchronization if clock drift is linear before and after the deployment. However, some OBSs in the experiments at the southwest Indian ridge(SWIR) on the Chinese DY125-34 cruise had not been re-synchronized from GPS after recovery. So we attempted to estimate clock drift between each station pairs using time symmetry analysis(TSA) based on ambient noise cross-correlation. We tested the feasibility of the TSA method by analyzing daily noise cross-correlation functions(NCFs) that extract from the data of another OBS experiment on the Chinese DY125-40 cruise with known clock drift and the same deployment site. The results suggest that the NCFs' travel time of surface wave between any two stations are symmetrical and have an opposite growing direction with the date. The influence of different band-pass filters, different components and different normalized methods was discussed. The TSA method appeared to be optimal for the hydrophone data within the period band of 2–5 s in dozens of km-scale interstation distances. A significant clock drift of ~2 s was estimated between OBSs sets through linear regression during a 108-d deployment on the Chinese cruise DY125-34. Time correction of the OBS by the ambient noise cross-correlation was demonstrated as a practical approach with the appropriate parameters in case of no GPS re-synchronization. 展开更多

Most studies of seismic noise cross-correlation (NCC) have focused on regional/continental scale imaging using empirical surface-wave Green's functions extracted from primary (0.05-0.08 Hz) and secondary (0.1-0.16 Hz) microseisms. In this work, we present the NCC results at higher frequencies (〉0.5 Hz) from 6 months seismic noise recorded by a local array ( - 4 km aperture) deployed along the Calico fault in the Mojave Desert, California. Both fast and slow propagating waves are observed from the NCC record-sections. We compare the NCCs from sensor pairs that share a common sensor with the records of a borehole shot located very close to this common sensor. The result shows a good match of the slow surface-wave arrivals, indicating that the NCC method is able to recover unbiased surface-wave Green's functions at local scales. The strong body-wave NCC component is caused by the P waves generated offshore California. Along a SW-NE profile across the fault, we observe apparent P-wave arrivals and their reflections, which can be explained by a low-velocity- zone (LVZ) along the Calico fault. We calculat6 the LVZ width to be - 2.3 kin, and the P-wave velocity reduction within the LVZ to be -35 %. These estimates are consistent with other evidence for a relatively wide LVZ along the Calico fault. 展开更多

The diffusion in a harmonic oscillator driven by coloured noises ξ(t) and η(t) with coloured cross-correlation in which one of the noises is modulated by a biased periodic signal is investigated. The exact expression of diffusion coefficient d as a function of noise parameter, signal parameter, and oscillator frequency is derived. The findings in this paper are as follows. 1) The curves of d versus noise intensity D and d versus noises cross-correlation time z3 exist as two different phases. The transition between the two phases arises from the change of the cross-correlation coefficient A of the two Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (O-U) noises. 2) Changing the value of T3, the curves of d versus Q, the intensity of colored noise that is modulated by the signal, can transform from a phase having a minimum to a monotonic phase. 3) Changing the value of signal amplitude A, d versus Q curves can transform from a phase having a minimum to a monotonic phase. The above-mentioned results demonstrate that a like noise-induced transition appears in the model. 展开更多

A novel laser amplitude Langevin equation is obtained, in which the cross-correlation λp between the real and imaginary parts of the pump noise appears. The mean, variance, and skewness of first-passage-time are calculated. It is shown that the mean, variance, and skewness of first-passage-time are strongly affected by λp. 展开更多

Stochastic resonance (SR) is studied in a gain-noise model of a single-mode laser driven by a coloured pump noise and a quantum noise with cross-correlation between real and imaginary parts under a direct signal modulation. By using a linear approximation method, we find that the SR appears during the variation of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) separately with the pump noise self-correlation time τ, the noise correlation coefficient between the real part and the imaginary part of the quantum noise λq, the attenuation coefficient γ' and the deterministic steady-state intensity I0. In addition, it is found that the SR can be characterized not only by the dependence of SNR on the noise variables of and λq, but also by the dependence of SNR on the laser system variables of γ and I0. Thus our investigation extends the characteristic quantity of SR proposed before. 展开更多

Using the linear approximation method, we have studied how the correlation function C(t) of the laser intensity changes with time in the loss-noise model of the single-mode laser driven by the colored pump noise with signal modulation and the quantum noise with cross-correlation between the real and imaginary parts. We have found that when the pump noise self-correlation time T changes, (i) in the case of r 〈〈 1, the C(t) vs. t curve experiences a changing process from the monotonous descending to monotonous rise, and finally to the appearance of a maximum; (ii) in the case of r 〉〉 1, the curve only exhibits periodically surging with descending envelope. When r 〈〈 i and T does not change, with the increase of the pump noise intensity P, the curve experiences a repeated changing process, that is, from the monotonous descending to the appearance of a maximum, then to monotonous rise, and finally to the appearance of a maximum again. With the increase of the quantum noise intensity O,, the curve experiences a changing process from the monotonous rise to the appearance of a maximum, and finally to the monotonous descending. The increase of the quantum noise with cross-correlation between the real and imaginary parts will lead to the fall of the whole curve, but not affect the form of the time evolution of C(t). 展开更多

Noise correlation function (NCF) was calculated using the data of the Beijing Capital-Area Telemetered Digital Seismograph Network from June 12 to September 12, 2005. Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is used to characterize the quality of NCF at each station pair. The SNR (in dB) is shown to be dependent on the separation distance R of the station pair via SNR= A -BlogR. 'Normalized average SNR' for all the station pairs can then be calculated, as represented by the value of SNR taking R = 250 km in the empirical SNR-R relation, to measure the overall quality of the NCF result. The 'normalized average SNR' of the NCF shows temporal variation and is apparently dependent on the root-mean-square (RMS) velocity of the microseism. The result obtained by this experiment provides clues to the explanation of the properties of NCF, such as the dominant mechanism underlying (diffuse wave fields or uncorrelated sources), and the dependence of SNR on the time length of recordings. 展开更多

This article introduces a fastmeshless algorithm for the numerical solution nonlinear partial differential equations(PDE)by Radial Basis Functions(RBFs)approximation connected with the Total Variation(TV)-basedminimization functional and to show its application to image denoising containing multiplicative noise. These capabilities used within the proposed algorithm have not only the quality of image denoising, edge preservation but also the property of minimization of staircase effect which results in blocky effects in the images. It is worth mentioning that the recommended method can be easily employed for nonlinear problems due to the lack of dependence on a mesh or integration procedure. The numerical investigations and corresponding examples prove the effectiveness of the recommended algorithm regarding the robustness and visual improvement as well as peak-signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR),signal-to-noise ratio(SNR),and structural similarity index(SSIM)corresponded to the current conventional TV-based schemes. 展开更多

Traditional cross-correlation algorithms are prone to time-of-flight(TOF)calculation errors under conditions of strong noise interference and complex temperature gradients, resulting in a decline in the accuracy of ultrasonic temperature measurement. To this end, this paper proposes an ultrasonic temperature measurement method that combines YOLOv11 target detection with energy-type weighted cross-correlation algorithm. The YOLOv11 model is utilized to conduct target detection and key area positioning on the ultrasonic signal waveform diagram, automatically identifying characteristic waveforms such as node waves and end face waves, and achieving adaptive extraction of the effective signal interval.Further introduce the energy-based weighted cross-correlation algorithm.Based on the signal energy distribution, the cross-correlation results are weighted and processed to enhance the main wave response and suppress noise interference.Experiments show that the YOLOv11 model has high detection accuracy(Precision=0.987,Recall=0.958,mAP@50=0.988);The proposed method maintains the stability of time delay estimation under strong noise and high temperature(>1200℃),with the average time delay error reduced by approximately 35%to 50%compared to traditional algorithms. This verifies its high robustness and temperature measurement accuracy in complex environments, and it has a promising engineering application prospect. 展开更多

The noise feature of a single-mode class-A laser amplifier is investigated by solving the Maxwell–Bloch equations of motion in the presence of the fluctuation force of cavity Langevin. The aim is to calculate the simultaneous fluctuations that are superimposed on the amplitude and phase of the cavity electric field, as well as the atomic population inversion. The correlation function of these fluctuations yields the amplitude, phase, and spontaneous emission noise fluxes, respectively. The amplitude and spontaneous emission noise fluxes exhibit the Lorentzian profiles in both the below-threshold state and the injection-locking region of the above-threshold state. While noise is typically viewed negatively in science and engineering, this research highlights its positive role as a valuable tool for measuring the optical properties of a laser amplifier. For instance, the degree of first-order temporal coherence(DFOTC) is derived by taking the Fourier transform of the amplitude noise flux. The damping rate of DFOTC is associated with the coherence time of the light emitted by the laser amplifier. Furthermore, the uncertainty relation between noise bandwidth and coherence time is confirmed. Finally, it is demonstrated that the input pumping noise flux, together with the output amplitude and spontaneous emission noise fluxes, satisfy the principle of flux conservation. 展开更多

Fluid-conveying pipes generally face combined excitations caused by periodic loads and random noises.Gaussian white noise is a common random noise excitation. This study investigates the random vibration response of a simply-supported pipe conveying fluid under combined harmonic and Gaussian white noise excitations.According to the generalized Hamilton’s principle, the dynamic model of the pipe conveying fluid under combined harmonic and Gaussian white noise excitations is established.Subsequently, the averaged stochastic differential equations and Fokker–Planck–Kolmogorov(FPK)equations of the pipe conveying fluid subjected to combined excitations are acquired by the modified stochastic averaging method. The effectiveness of the analysis results is verified through the Monte Carlo method. The effects of fluid speed, noise intensity, amplitude of harmonic excitation, and damping factor on the probability density functions of amplitude, displacement,as well as velocity are discussed in detail. The results show that with an increase in fluid speed or noise intensity, the possible greatest amplitude for the fluid-conveying pipe increases, and the possible greatest displacement and velocity also increase. With an increase in the amplitude of harmonic excitation or damping factor, the possible greatest amplitude for the pipe decreases, and the possible greatest displacement and velocity also decrease. 展开更多

It finds that the decay rate of the intensity correlation function of one mode gets faster with decreasing values of relevant parameters, i.e., the coupling constant ξ, the cross-correlation coefficient A, the difference of the pump parameters Aa and the pump parameter al; however, its variations get complex in the other mode when relevant parameters are changed. An efficient unbiased estimation method is proposed for the direct identification of linear continuous-time system with noisy input and output measurements.Using the Gaussian modulating filters,by numerical integration,an equivalent discrete identification model which is parameterized with continuous-time model parameters is developed, and the parameters can be estimated by the least-squares (LS) algorithm.Even with white noises in input and output measurement data, the LS estimate is biased, and the bias is determined by the variances of noises.According to the asymptotic analysis, the relationship between bias and noise variances is derived. One equation relating to the measurement noise variances is derived through the analysis of the LS errors.Increasing the degree of denominator of the system transfer function by one,an extended model is constructed.By comparing the true value and LS estimates of the parameters between original and extended model, another equation with input and output noise variances is formulated. So,the noise variances are resolved by the set of equations, the LS bias is eliminated and the unbiased estimates of system parameters are obtained.A simulation example by comparing the standard LS with bias eliminating LS algorithm indicates that the proposed algorithm is an efficient method with noisy input and output measurements. 展开更多

A controllable regularized term and the variational method are employed in the process of speckle noise. This model not only improves the plasticity of the model, but also improves the effect and efficiency of noise removal. The new model has different diffusion performance in different regions. At the same time, the diffusion performance is related to the parameters introduced by the proposed model.
