Correlation between musculoskeletal system function and predepressive states in elderly cancer patients: A single-center crosssectional study

BACKGROUND Studies have shown that locomotive syndrome(LS)is significantly correlated with adverse outcomes,such as decreased self-care abilities,fractures,and increased mortality.Subthreshold depression(StD)is considered an independent predictor of clinical depression,regarded as its prodromal stage,and even linked to increased mortality risk.Limited research has addressed the prevalence and relationship between LS and StD in elderly cancer patients.Understanding the prevalence of LS and StD among elderly cancer patients and elucidating their relationship will provide evidence to support the development of targeted interventions,thereby improving health outcomes in this population.AIM To investigate the relationship between musculoskeletal system function and predepressive states in elderly cancer patients.METHODS A convenience sampling method was employed to recruit 500 elderly cancer patients undergoing follow-up visits at the Department of Oncology,Affiliated Hospital of Jiangnan University,from April 2024 to December 2024.Participants completed the general information questionnaire, the 25-question Geriatric Locomotive Function Scale, and theGeriatric Depression Scale-Short Form-15. Influencing factors were analyzed, and correlation analyses wereperformed.RESULTSA total of 483 elderly cancer patients successfully completed the study. The prevalence of LS and StD amongparticipants was 56.5% and 38.7%, respectively. Logistic regression analysis identified age, tumor metastasis,exercise habits, and the presence of StD as significant risk factors for LS in elderly cancer patients. Additionally,having three or more chronic diseases and LS were significant predictors for developing StD. Spearman’s correlationanalysis revealed a significant positive correlation between LS and StD (r = 0.424, P < 0.001).CONCLUSIONElderly cancer patients exhibit a high prevalence of LS and StD, conditions which are positively correlated andmutually influential. Thus, it is critical to monitor and address pre-depressive states while evaluating and managingmotor function in this population. 展开更多

The Lunar Orbital VLBI Experiment(LOVEX)aims to utilize the 4.2-m diameter antenna on the Queqiao-2 relay satellite of the Chang'E-7 mission,which is equipped with an X-band cryogenic receiver,an H-maser,and a VLBI data acquisition backend,thereby forming a space radio telescope in lunar orbit.The lunar orbital telescope will collaborate with Earth-based telescopes to conduct VLBI observations,thus forming a lunar-Earth space VLBI network.The length of the baseline will extend up to approximately 380000 km,which will be the longest VLBI baseline to date.This paper introduces the LOVEX VLBI data correlation system.The system is capable of generating VLBI delay models for both the lunar orbital and Earth-based telescopes;it also performs the initial clock search within a large clock offset window ranging from-10 ms to+10 ms for the lunar-Earth baseline leveraging both wideband blazar signals and spacecraft(SC)differential one-way ranging(DOR)signals—a distinctive feature of the system.To fulfill the scientific objectives of astrophysics,astrometry,and orbit determination of SC,the data correlation system outputs visibilities in various formats.Additionally,the system can directly output the VLBI residual delay and delay rate of SC after bandwidth synthesis.Anticipating the inclusion of more Earth-based stations in the future,the system is designed with the capability to correlate digital signals observed by 10 stations,with a bandwidth of 512 MHz and dualpolarization,running on an off-the-shelf central processing unit(CPU)+graphics processing unit(GPU)cluster.This system was applied to both the ground verification system and the first LOVEX observation experiment,and successfully detected VLBI fringes for signals from blazars and SC after fringe fitting. 展开更多

Reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)is a promising candidate technology of the upcoming Sixth Generation(6G)communication system for its ability to provide unprecedented spectral and energy efficiency increment through passive beamforming.However,it is challenging to obtain instantaneous channel state information(I-CSI)for RIS,which obliges us to use statistical channel state information(S-CSI)to achieve passive beamforming.In this paper,RIS-aided multiple-input single-output(MISO)multi-user downlink communication system with correlated channels is investigated.Then,we formulate the problem of joint beamforming design at the AP and RIS to maximize the sum ergodic spectral efficiency(ESE)of all users to improve the network capacity.Since it is too hard to compute sum ESE,an ESE approximation is adopted to reformulate the problem into a more tractable form.Then,we present two joint beamforming algorithms,namely the singular value decomposition-gradient descent(SVD-GD)algorithm and the fractional programming-gradient descent(FP-GD)algorithm.Simulation results show the effectiveness of our proposed algorithms and validate that 2-bits quantizer is enough for RIS phase shifts implementation. 展开更多

In this paper,we investigate the distinctions between dynamical quantum chaotic systems and random models from the perspective of observable properties,particularly focusing on the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis(ETH).Through numerical simulations,we find that for dynamical systems,the envelope function of off-diagonal elements of observables exhibits an exponential decay at largeΔE,while for randomized models,it tends to be flat.We demonstrate that the correlations of chaotic eigenstates,originating from the delicate structures of Hamiltonians,play a crucial role in the non-trivial structure of the envelope function.Furthermore,we analyze the numerical results from the perspective of the dynamical group elements in Hamiltonians.Our findings highlight the importance of correlations in physical chaotic systems and provide insights into the deviations from random matrix theory(RMT)predictions.These understandings offer valuable directions for future research. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Anxiety,depression,and other negative emotions are common among patients with chronic renal failure(CRF).Analyzing the factors related to negative emotions is necessary to provide targeted nursing care.AIM To explore the correlations among life satisfaction,pleasure levels,and negative emotions in patients with CRF.METHODS One hundred patients with CRF who received therapy at the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinzhou Medical University between December 2022 and February 2025 were included.The Depression,Anxiety,and Stress Scale(DASS-21),Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS),and Temporal Experience of Pleasure Scale(TEPS)were used to evaluate negative emotions,life satisfaction,and pleasure level,respectively.Pearson’s correlation coefficient analyzed the correlation between life satisfaction,pleasure level,and negative emotions.Linear regression analysis identified the factors affecting negative emotions.RESULTS The average DASS-21 score among patients with CRF was 51.90±2.30,with subscale scores of 17.90±1.50 for depression,18.53±1.18 for anxiety,and 15.47±2.36 for stress,all significantly higher than the domestic norm(P<0.05).The average SWLS score was 22.17±4.90.Correlation analysis revealed a negative correlation between the SWLS and total DASS-21 scores(P<0.05),but not with the individual depression,anxiety,or stress dimensions.The average TEPS score was 67.80±8.34.TEPS scores were negatively correlated with the DASS-21 score and the stress dimension(P<0.05),but not with depression or anxiety.Linear regression analysis showed that TEPS scores significantly influenced DASS-21 scores(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Patients with CRF experience high levels of negative emotions,which are negatively correlated with life satisfaction and pleasure.Furthermore,pleasure level had an impact on negative emotions. 展开更多

Taking the time varying nature of wireless channels into account, two user selection schemes with lower complexity are developed for multiple-input multiple-output broadcast (MIMO BC)systems. According to the relationship between coherence time and Doppler frequency, an information frame is divided into several segments. At the beginning of each segment, the user selection is carded out with the greedy selection algorithm. In the simplified user selection algorithms employing the temporal correlation (SUSTC), the selection results are applied for all the remaining slots in each segment. But in the improved simplified user selection algorithms employing the temporal correlation(ISUSTC), at the remaining slots, users are kept with favorable channel conditions selected at the previous slot, and other users are updated from the candidate pool to communicate simultaneously. Simulations show that compared with the greedy user selection method, the proposed algorithms can reduce the selection complexity with a little sum capacity loss. 展开更多

State-of-the-art technologies such as the Internet of Things(IoT),cloud computing(CC),big data analytics(BDA),and artificial intelligence(AI)have greatly stimulated the development of smart manufacturing.An important prerequisite for smart manufacturing is cyber-physical integration,which is increasingly being embraced by manufacturers.As the preferred means of such integration,cyber-physical systems(CPS)and digital twins(DTs)have gained extensive attention from researchers and practitioners in industry.With feedback loops in which physical processes affect cyber parts and vice versa,CPS and DTs can endow manufacturing systems with greater efficiency,resilience,and intelligence.CPS and DTs share the same essential concepts of an intensive cyber-physical connection,real-time interaction,organization integration,and in-depth collaboration.However,CPS and DTs are not identical from many perspectives,including their origin,development,engineering practices,cyber-physical mapping,and core elements.In order to highlight the differences and correlation between them,this paper reviews and analyzes CPS and DTs from multiple perspectives. 展开更多

The Chinese Aeronautical Establishment(CAE) Aerodynamic Validation Model(AVM)is a dual-purpose test geometry dedicated to verify the aerodynamic performance of a conceptual intercontinental jet aircraft and to provide a dataset for CFD software validation. To this end, a scaled model of the AVM was tested in the High-Speed Tunnel(HST) of the German-Dutch Wind-tunnels(DNW) with special test consideration and instrumentation. For complementary analysis of experimental results, specific CAE-AVM geometries are analyzed using a CAE inhouse CFD code. The specific geometries consist of a baseline aircraft, an aircraft with a deformed wing shape, and an aircraft with both a deformed wing shape and a representation of the model support system used in the wind tunnel. Detailed analysis of numerical and experimental results is presented; both the combined and individual attributions of wing deformation and support system interference on wing pressure distributions and longitudinal aerodynamic characteristics are summarized. 展开更多

As a novel three dimensional digital image correlation (3D DIC) method, the bi-prism-based single lens (BSL) 3D DIC method has been proposed and developed in recent years. Making use ofa bi-prism, this method is able to perform a 3D DIC measurement using only a single camera. Thus, the integration level of a BSL 3D DIC system could be much higher than that of the double-camera 3D DIC system. In this paper, using a small-angle bi-prism and a camera with a longer focal length, a special BSL 3D DIC system with a long working distance is designed for measurements in extreme environments. The principle of the system is first studied, and practical methods are then proposed for the system set-up and the determination of system parameters. Then, feasibility of the measurement system is verified by out-of-plane rigid-body translation tests. Finally, the BSL 3D DIC system is proven to be capable of combining with a high-temperature testing instrument to perform deformation tests in a high-temperature environment of up to 1500℃. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Radical surgery is the most commonly used treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).However,the surgical effect remains not ideal,and prognostic evaluation is insufficient.Furthermore,clinical intervention is rife with uncertainty and not conducive to prolonging patient survival.AIM To explore correlations between the systemic immune inflammatory index(SII)and geriatric nutritional risk index(GNRI)and HCC operation prognosis.METHODS This retrospective study included and collected follow up data from 100 HCC.Kaplan–Meier survival curves were used to analyze the correlation between SII and GNRI scores and survival.SII and GNRI were calculated as follows:SII=neutrophil count×platelet count/lymphocyte count;GNRI=[1.489×albumin(g/L)+41.7×actual weight/ideal weight].We analyzed the predictive efficacy of the SII and GNRI in HCC patients using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves,and the relationships between the SII,GNRI,and survival rate using Kaplan–Meier survival curves.Cox regression analysis was utilized to analyze independent risk factors influencing prognosis.RESULTS After 1 year of follow-up,24 patients died and 76 survived.The area under the curve(AUC),sensitivity,specificity,and the optimal cutoff value of SII were 0.728(95%confidence interval:0.600-0.856),79.2%,63.2%,and 309.14,respectively.According to ROC curve analysis results for predicting postoperative death in HCC patients,the AUC of SII and GNRI combination was higher than that of SII or GNRI alone,and SII was higher than that of GNRI(P<0.05).The proportion of advanced differentiated tumors,tumor maximum diameter(5–10 cm,>10 cm),lymph node metastasis,and TNM stage III-IV in patients with SII>309.14 was higher than that in patients with SII≤309.14(P<0.05).The proportion of patients aged>70 years was higher in patients with GNRI≤98 than that in patients with GNRI>98(P<0.05).The 1-year survival rate of the SII>309.14 group(compared with the SII≤309.14 group)and GNRI≤98 group(compared with the GNRI>98 group)was lower(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The prognosis after radical resection of HCC is related to the SII and GNRI and poor in high SII or low GNRI patients. 展开更多

[Method] The correlation between natural subsystem and economic subsystem in ecosystem was discussed by means of the canonical correlation, and the correlation between variables was explored with statistical data. [Result] The canonical correlation between the two subsystems could be explained by three groups of typical variables, Le., the canonical correlation between crop production and consumption; the canonical correlation between agricultural crop production, aquaculture and scientific research development funds; and the canonical correlation between forest area and GDP per capita. With the growth of economy and revenue and the steady development of agricultural production, there are still some serious problems, including the change of residents consumption is out of proportion to its material consumption; the socio-economic development depends on consuming of forests more heavily, which destroy the balance between the economic growth and environmental protection. [Conclusion] The results provide referential basis for the ecosystem study of Hebei Province. 展开更多

The Kendall correlation method is used to measure the correlation amongst users by means of considering the relative order of the users' ratings. Kendall based algorithm is based upon a more general model and thus could be more widely applied in e-commerce. Another discovery of this work is that the consideration of only positive correlated neighbors in prediction, in both Pearson and Kendall algorithms, achieves higher accuracy than the consideration of all neighbors, with only a small loss of coverage. 展开更多

Based on the first passage failure model, the probability perturbation method is employed to determine the statistical characteristics of failure modes and the correlation between them. The sensitivity of correlation between failure modes with respect to random parameters characterizing the uncertainty of the hysteretic loop is discussed. In a numerical example, a two-DOF shear structure with uncertain hysteretic restoring force is considered. The statistical characteristics of response, failure modes and the sensitivity of random hysteretic loop parameters are provided, and also compared with a Monte Carlo simulation. 展开更多

Numerical analysis indicates that quantum correlation as well as quantum nonlocality can efficiently detect the quantum critical point in the two-dimensional XY systems. The nonanalytic behavior of the first derivative of quantum correlation is observed at the critical point as the size of the model increases. Furthermore, we discuss the quantum correlation distribution in this system based on the square of concurrence(SC) and square of quantum discord(SQD). The monogamous properties of SC and SQD are obtained. Particularly, we prove that the quantum critical point can also be achieved by monogamy score. 展开更多

Low Earth Orbit(LEO)multibeam satellites will be widely used in the next generation of satellite communication systems,whose inter-beam interference will inevitably limit the performance of the whole system.Nonlinear precoding such as Tomlinson-Harashima precoding(THP)algorithm has been proved to be a promising technology to solve this problem,which has smaller noise amplification effect compared with linear precoding.However,the similarity of different user channels(defined as channel correlation)will degrade the performance of THP algorithm.In this paper,we qualitatively analyze the inter-beam interference in the whole process of LEO satellite over a specific coverage area,and the impact of channel correlation on Signal-to-Noise Ratio(SNR)of receivers when THP is applied.One user grouping algorithm is proposed based on the analysis of channel correlation,which could decrease the number of users with high channel correlation in each precoding group,thus improve the performance of THP.Furthermore,our algorithm is designed under the premise of co-frequency deployment and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM),which leads to more users under severe inter-beam interference compared to the existing research on geostationary orbit satellites broadcasting systems.Simulation results show that the proposed user grouping algorithm possesses higher channel capacity and better bit error rate(BER)performance in high SNR conditions relative to existing works. 展开更多

Goal oriented( GO) methodology is a kind of success oriented system reliability analysis method and has been used widely.The repairable system with dual input closed-loop feedback link( DICLFL) considering shutdown correlation didn't make reliability analysis accurately based on existing GO methodology. So, a reliability analysis method used to deal with DICLFL considering shutdown correlation is provided based on GO methodology.Firstly, a new operator, which is used to describe DICLFL considering shutdown correlation,whose number is 1,is created and named as Type 9C operator. And then,the formulas of type 9C operator are derived based on Markov process theory. Finally,the new method presented in this paper is adopted to conduct the reliability analysis of an electro-hydraulic servo speed control system. The analysis result is compared with those of Monte Carlo simulation and fault tree analysis( FTA). The comparison results show that this new reliability analysis method based on GO methodology is feasible and meaningful for reliability analysis of repairable systems with DICLFL considering shutdown correlation.Meantime,it will be useful for more other applications. 展开更多

Under the scenario of dense targets in clutter, a multi-layer optimal data correlation algorithm is proposed. This algorithm eliminates a large number of false location points from the assignment process by rough correlations before we calculate the correlation cost, so it avoids the operations for the target state estimate and the calculation of the correlation cost for the false correlation sets. In the meantime, with the elimination of these points in the rough correlation, the disturbance from the false correlations in the assignment process is decreased, so the data correlation accuracy is improved correspondingly. Complexity analyses of the new multi-layer optimal algorithm and the traditional optimal assignment algorithm are given. Simulation results show that the new algorithm is feasible and effective. 展开更多

The quantum entanglement,discord,and coherence dynamics of two spins in the model of a spin coupled to a spin bath through an intermediate spin are studied.The effects of the important physical parameters including the coupling strength of two spins,the interaction strength between the intermediate spin and the spin bath,the number of bath spins and the temperature of the system on quantum coherence and correlation dynamics are discussed in different cases.The frozen quantum discord can be observed whereas coherence does not when the initial state is the Bell-diagonal state.At finite temperature,we find that coherence is more robust than quantum discord,which is better than entanglement,in terms of resisting the influence of environment.Therefore,quantum coherence is more tenacious than quantum correlation as an important resource. 展开更多
