ObjectiveTo investigate the diagnostic value of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18F-FDG PET) in the as-sessment of myocardial viability in patients with known coronary artery disease (CAD) when compared to99mTc single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and echocardiography, with invasive coronary angiography as the gold standard.MethodsThirty patients with diagnosed CAD met the selection criteria, with 10 of them (9 men, mean age 59.5 ± 10.5 years) undergoing all of these imaging proce-dures consisting of SPECT and PET, echocardiography and invasive angiography. Diagnostic sensitivity of these less invasive modalities for detection of myocardial viability was compared to invasive coronary angiography. Inter- and intra-observer agreement was assessed for di-agnostic performance of SPECT and PET.ResultsOf all patients with proven CAD, 50% had triple vessel disease. Diagnostic sensitivity of SPECT, PET and echocardiography was 90%, 100% and 80% at patient-based assessment, respectively. Excellent agreement was achieved between inter-observer and intra-observer agreement of the diagnostic value of SPECT and PET in myocardial viability (k= 0.9). Conclusion18F-FDG PET has high diagnostic value in the assessment of myocardial viability in patients with known CAD when com-pared to SPECT and echocardiography. Further studies based on a large cohort with incorporation of18F-FDG PET into patient management are warranted. 展开更多

Objective To study the practical value of 3-dimensional computed tomography on diagnosis of bladder tumor, Methods Fifteen patients with bladder masses were examined by thin-layer computed tomography. The results of 3-dimensional reconstructed images were compared with the final diagnosis and the pathological stages. Results According to 3-dimensional reconstructed images, among the 15 cases, 12 cases of bladder cancer were diagnosed, and the pathological types were transitional carcinoma. Two cases were diagnosed as benign tumor (leiomyoma), and the other one was colon cancer, which invaded bladder. The accuracy was 100% . The clinical stages were determined. Of the 12 bladder carcinomas,5 was in stage T1, 3 in T2,, 3 in T3 and 1 in T4.The accuracy of staging was up to 83% (10/12) compared with pathological stages. Conclusion The 3-dimensional reconstructed technology may improve the accuracy of staging of bladder carcinoma, and to provide important evidence for surgery options. 3 refs,2 figs. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Intrapancreatic fat deposition(IPFD)exerts a significant negative impact on patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),accelerates disease deterioration, and may lead to impairedβ-cell quality and function.AIM To investigate the correlation between T2DM remission and IPFD.METHODS We enrolled 80 abdominally obese patients with T2DM admitted to our institution from January 2019 to October 2023,including 40 patients with weight lossinduced T2DM remission(research group)and 40 patients with short-term intensive insulin therapy-induced T2DM remission(control group). We comparatively analyzed improvements in IPFD[differential computed tomography(CT)values of the spleen and pancreas and average CT value of the pancreas];levels of fasting blood glucose(FBG),2-h postprandial blood glucose(2hPBG),and insulin;and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR)scores.Correlation analysis was performed to explore the association between T2DM remission and IPFD.RESULTS After treatment, the differential CT values of the spleen and pancreas,FBG,2hPBG,and HOMA-IR in the research group were significantly lower than those before treatment and in the control group, and the average CT value of the pancreas and insulin levels were significantly higher.Correlation analysis revealed that the greater the T2DM remission, the lower the amount of IPFD. 展开更多

Background: After the first examination of patients with lymphoma diagnosis, important laboratory tests such as complete blood count; albumin, kidney and liver function tests; uric acid; 132-microglobulin; C-reactive protein (CRP); erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR); and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) examinations are recommended. In this study, our aim was to find the relationship between laboratory parameters and the maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) of positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in patients with lymphoma at the diagnosis and after treatment. Methods: Thirty-tbur lymphoma patients treated at Mustafa Kemal University Internal Medicine Clinic between 2014 and 2017 were included in this retrospective study. Results ofCRP, ESR, LDH, albumin, and white blood cell (WBC) count were recorded betbre each PET scan test, and each parameter was analyzed for correlation with SUV measurements. Results: Spearman's correlation test showed that the after-treatment SUV values were significantly correlated with the alter-treatment LDH, ESR, and CRP values (for LDH, ESR, and CRP, R2: 0.453, 0.426, and 0.351; P = 0.007, 0.012, and 0.042, respectively). On the other hand, albumin and WBC count did not show a significant correlation with the after-treatment SUVmax values (all P 〉 0.05). Conclusions: CRP, ESR, and LDH values may also be good predictors in patients for whom PET/CT imaging cannot be performed. 展开更多

Estimation of postmortem interval(PMI)has been an important and difficult subject in the forensic study. It is a primary task of forensic work, and it can help guide the work in field investigation. With the development of computed tomography(CT)technology,CT imaging techniques are now being more frequently applied to the field of forensic medicine. This study used CT imaging techniques to observe area changes in different tissues and organs of rabbits after death and the changing pattern of the average CT values in the organs. The study analyzed the relationship between the CT values of different organs and PMI with the imaging software Max Viewer and obtained multiparameter nonlinear regression equation of the different organs, and the study provided an objective and accurate method and reference information for the estimation of PMI in the forensic medicine. In forensic science,PMI refers to the time interval between the discovery or inspection of corpse and the time of death.CT,magnetic resonance imaging, and other imaging techniques have become important means of clinical examinations over the years.Although some scholars in our country have used modem radiological techniques in various fields of forensic science, such as estimation of injury time, personal identification of bodies, analysis of the cause of death, determination of the causes of injury, and identification of the foreign substances of bodies, there are only a few studies on the estimation of time of death. We detected the process of subtle changes in adult rabbits after death, the shape and size of tissues and organs, and the relationship between adjacent organs in three-dimensional space in an efiort to develop new method for the estimation of PMI.The bodies of the dead rabbits were stored at 20℃ room temperature, sealed condition, and prevented exposure to flesh flies. The dead rabbits were randomly divided into comparison group and experimental group. The whole-body CT scans were performed on the experimental group of rabbits at different PMIs.NeuViz dual-slice spiral CT scanner(made by Neusoft Medical in China,2 mm×10 mm high-speed rare earth ceramic detector)is a 360°scan that could obtain two images, capable of providing a wide range of high-speed continuous spiral scan.Max Viewer(Version:1.0.0131,Neusoft,Shenyang,China)is a CT image viewing software developed by Neusoft Medical. The software can be used to view and process images in various common methods and to measure a number of parameters, such as length, area, angle, and CT values.Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS1 Statistics 19.0(SPSS,Inc.,Chicago,IL,USA).AP<0.05 was considered statistically significant. We obtained the binomial regression equation of the CT values and the related coefficient(R^(2)).In the future,we suggests that comprehensive analyses of various indicators of different organs could establish a diversified pattern to remedy the deficiencies and make the study of PMI estimation more scientific and enhance the operability. 展开更多
