The first step involved developing a preliminary 70-item KNCCS based on an extensive literature review and the standards and criteria proposed by the Korean Accreditation of Nursing. The second step involved evaluating validity and reliability of the KNCCS. 528 newly graduated nurses recently employed in nine major hospitals were participated in this research for validation. Results: The final KNCCS consisted of 70 items. The exploratory factor analysis identified five subscales under which each item could be categorized: 1) human understanding and communication skills;2) professional attitudes;3) critical thinking and evaluation;4) general clinical performance;and 5) specific clinical performance. Conclusion: The KNCCS shows good reliability and validity. However, the test of both criterion and construct validity were recommended further.展开更多

Methods: Participants were 9 elementary physical education (PE) teachers and their 4th- and 5th-grade students (n = 2709 3420). The students' skill competency was assessed with 3 manipulative skills using PE metrics assessment rubrics. The PE teachers' levels of QPET were assessed by coding 63 videotaped lessons using the assessing quality teaching rubrics (AQTR), which consisted of 4 essential dimensions including task design, task presentation, class management, and instructional guidance. Codes were confirmed through inter-rater reliability (82.4%, 84.5%, and 94%). Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, multiple R2 regression models, and independent sample t tests. Results: This study indicated that the 4 essential dimensions of QPET were all significant contributors to students' manipulative skill competency. These predictors were significantly higher for boys than for girls in soccer and striking skills, while they were significantly higher for girls than for boys in throwing skill competency. Of the 4 essential dimensions of QPET, task presentation played the most significant role in contributing to all 3 skill competencies for both boys and girls. Further, students who experienced high QPET were significantly more skillfully competent than those students who did not have this experience. Conclusion: It was concluded that the QPET practices played a significantly critical role in contributing to students' manipulative skill competency.展开更多

Competency, self-esteem, and self-knowledge are achievable through professional identity. Employees’ participation in and attachment to their professional role is contingent considerably upon their professional identity. In light of this, the present study is aimed at determining correlation between professional identity and clinical competence of the nurses working in psychiatric wards of the hospitals affiliated with Tehran-based medical sciences universities. Methodology: This correlative study was conducted on 125 nurses working in psychiatric wards of Tehran-based hospitals affiliated with medical sciences universities. Data gathering tool of the study was a researcher-designed questionnaire to collect demographic, clinical competency, and professional identity data of the participants. For data analyzing, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 18 was used. Findings: The results showed 91.2% of the participants evaluated their professional identity at good (47.2%) and very good (44%) levels;and 78.2% evaluated their clinical competency at very good level. The results also indicated positive and significant relationship between professional identity and clinical competency(r = 0.32, p = 0.001). In addition, none of the demographical variables were related to professional identity and clinical competency. Conclusion: There is positive relationship between clinical competency and professional identity, which means that development of positive attitudes regarding the psychiatric nursing can lead to higher clinical competency of the participants. The findings of the study highlighted the weight and role of positive attitude regarding the professional identity. It could result in increase of clinical competency and deserved attention of hospital’s managers.展开更多

文摘Aims:We examined the relationship between self-directed learning readiness(SDLR)and nursing competency among undergraduate nursing students. Background:There is little evidence-based data related to the relationship between selfdirected learning(SDL)and nursing competency. Methods:A descriptive correlational design was used.We conducted convenience sampling of 519 undergraduate nursing students from three universities during their final period of clinical practice. We investigated SDL according to the SDLR scale for nursing education(Chinese translation version),and used the Competency Inventory for Registered Nurses to evaluate nursing competency. Results:The mean SDLR score of the students was 148.55(standard deviation[SD]18.46),indicating intermediate and higher SDLR.The mean score for nursing competency was 142.31(SD30.39),indicating intermediate nursing competence.SDLR had a significant positive and strong relationship with nursing competency. Conclusion:SDLR is a predictor of nursing competency.
文摘Introduction: Clinical competency and knowledge of the effective factors are of critical importance in nursing. It could result in increase of clinical competency and deserved attention of hospital’s managers.
