A case study on the transport process of agricultural diffuse P-pollutants was conducted in an experimental watershed locating in the north bank of Yuqiao Reservoir during 2001 and 2002. It was found that diversified artificial and natural buffer/detention landscape structures distributing along the ephemeral stream channel in this watershed played an important role of pollutants removal on downstream water quality, especially they have control effect on the diffuse P-pollutants transport process. Surface flow velocity was reduced sharply after passing through these structures. During continuous runoff events, the removal rate of TSS, TP, TDP, DRP by the whole system were 66.7%, 60.7%, 48.4%, and 43.3%, respectively. During discontinuous runoff events, removal rate of pollutants by the whole system was higher due to there was no or little surface water and pollutants exported from the watershed, of which removal rate of pollutants all exceeded 99%. The statistical analysis results of runoff events(n=8) indicated that dry pond was the steadiest structure for controlling diffuse P-pollutants export. 展开更多

A moving model test of a maglev train passing through tunnels:Effect of train speed and buffer structure on aerodynamic environment

Maglev trains experience significant aerodynamic effects when passing through tunnels.A moving model test was conducted to explore the practical effects of speed reduction and entrance buffer structures on mitigating tunnel/maglev aerodynamic effects.It is found that both have an overall positive effect on mitigating the aerodynamic environment inside and outside the tunnel.Trains operating at 200 km/h show a 49.8%decrease in peak-to-peak pressure and a 50.7%decrease in transient pressure instability on inner walls compared to those at 280 km/h.Lower speeds resulted in a 65.6%decrease in amplitude and a 24.5%decrease in decay rate,both of which are parameters for exponential fittings of pressure peaks that decay naturally after the train leaves.The buffer structures result in a reduction of up to 25.7%in the maximum positive pressure and a 29.0%decrease in transient pressure instability.Additionally,a reduction in amplitude of up to 21.2%and a 32.2%increase in decay rate were observed with the use of buffer structures.Nevertheless,it is difficult to conclude direct correlations between the maximum pressure,peak-to-peak values,etc.,and the speeds or buffer structures due to the complex wave propagation in tunnels.However,speed reduction and buffer structures are proven to be effective in reducing the micro-pressure wave levels with a simpler monotonic relationship. 展开更多

We investigate the electronic structures of one and two monolayer iron phthalocyanine (FePc) molecules on Au(111) surfaces. The first monolayer FePc is lying flat on the Au(111) substrate, and the second monolayer FePc is tilted at -15° relative to the substrate plane along the nearest neighbour [101] direction with a lobe downward to the central hole of the unit cell in the first layer. The structural information obtained by first-principles calculations is in agreement with the experiment results. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the electronic structures of FePc molecules in one-monolayer FePc/Au(111) system are perturbed significantly, while the electronic structures of FePc molecules in the second monolayer in two-monolayer FePc/Au(111) system remain almost unchanged due to the screening of the buffer layer on Au(111). 展开更多

The magnetic and structural properties in Co/Cu/Co sandwiches with Ni and Cr buffer layers were investigated. It was found that the coercivity in Ni layer buffered samples decreases with increasing Ni layer thickness, while that in Cr layer buffered ones increases with increasing Cr layer thickness, leading to a large difference in field sensitivity of their giant magnetoresistance (GMR) properties. X-ray diffraction and high resolution transmission electron microscope images exhibited that there is a strong fcc (111) texture in the samples with Ni buffer layer. But there are only randomly oriented potycrystalline grains in Cr buffered sandwiches. According to atomic force microscope topography, the surface roughness of Cr buffered sandwiches is smaller than that of Ni buffered ones. It is demonstrated that buffer layer influences both magnetic and structural properties in Co/Cu/Co sandwiches as well as their GMR characteristics. 展开更多

The structural diversity of different tree-crop associations were studied at Gachabari Sal forest area of Madhupur Garh on Buffer and Peripheral Zone during 2006. The total density, basal area of trees in the Buffer and Peripheral Zone were 155.5 trees·hm^(-2), 795.4 trees·hm^(-2) and 3.9 m2·hm-2, 5.8 m^2·hm^(-2), respectively. No regeneration and natural trees were found in Peripheral Zone and the Zone is totally occupied by exotic species where the Buffer Zone comprised of both natural and exotic trees. The Peripheral Zone belonged to younger and smaller trees whereas the Buffer Zone belonged to mixture of smaller, taller, younger and mature trees simultaneously. For the practicing of different agroforestry systems both Zones have lost their original characters of Sal forest. 展开更多

The sandwich structure of cushioning packaging has an important influence on the cushioning performance.Mathematical fractal theory is an important graphic expression.Based on Hilbert fractal theory,a new sandwich structure was designed.The generation mechanism and recurrence formula of theHilbert fractal were expressed by Lin’s language,and the second-orderHilbert sandwich structure was constructed fromthermoplastic polyurethane.The constitutive model of the hyperelastic body was established by using the finite element method.With the unit mass energy absorption as the optimization goal,the fractal sandwich structure was optimized,and the best result was obtained when the order was 2.5 and the unit layer thickness was 0.75 mm.TheHilbert sandwich structure was compared with the rice-shaped sandwich structure commonly used in industry,and the Hilbert fractal structure had better energy absorption.This has practical significance for the development and application of newcushioning packaging structures. 展开更多

In order to solve the problem of excessive noise and vibration during the operation of the hydraulic transformer,an optimization method of valve plate damping hole structure is proposed to alleviate the phenomenon of pressure shock.Firstly,the mathematical model of oil pressure gradient in the plunger cavity is established,and the incremental equation of pressure change is derived.Secondly,a kind of buffering structure is proposed,the corresponding relationship between the pressure change and the envelopment angle of the buffering hole and the aperture size is determined by analyzing the oil pressure change curve in the plunger cavity.Finally,the flow field models with buffering holes are established,and the transient simulation of the pressure change process under the optimal solution is carried out with ANSYS software and the flow field pressure distribution contours are obtained.Through the analysis of simulation results,it is concluded that the optimal envelope angle of the three buffer holes ofA-T-B-Ais 5°,and the optimal aperture is 1.8 mm,1.6 mm,and 1.7 mm,respectively.The buffer hole can achieve a better-buffering effect in the range of variable pressure angle[0°,101°].The buffer hole structure can effectively alleviate the pressure shock and reduce the noise level,which lays a foundation for the design and theoretical research of hydraulic transformers. 展开更多

Microstructure and misfit dislocation behavior in In_xGa_(1-x)As/InP heteroepitaxial materials grown by low pressure metal organic chemical vapor deposition(LP-MOCVD) were analyzed by high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), atomic force microscopy(AFM), Raman spectroscopy and Hall effect measurements. To optimize the structure of In_(0.82)Ga_(0.18)As/InP heterostructure, the In_xGa_(1-x)As buffer layer was grown. The residual strain of the In_(0.82)Ga_(0.18)As epitaxial layer was calculated. Further, the periodic growth pattern of the misfit dislocation at the interface was discovered and verified. Then the effects of misfit dislocation on the surface morphology and microstructure of the material were studied. It is found that the misfit dislocation of high indium(In) content In_(0.82)Ga_(0.18)As epitaxial layer has significant influence on the carrier concentration. 展开更多

为抑制航天器分离过程中爆炸螺栓解锁所诱发的火工冲击,本研究提出一种球壳阵列缓冲垫块,并运用任意拉格朗日拉(ALE)流固耦合方法,系统探究其孔隙率、高度以及材料对冲击响应谱(SRS)的影响。研究结果显示:缓冲垫块借助逐层胞元的屈曲、... 为抑制航天器分离过程中爆炸螺栓解锁所诱发的火工冲击,本研究提出一种球壳阵列缓冲垫块,并运用任意拉格朗日拉(ALE)流固耦合方法,系统探究其孔隙率、高度以及材料对冲击响应谱(SRS)的影响。研究结果显示:缓冲垫块借助逐层胞元的屈曲、弯曲以及局部破碎,实现“级联式”能量吸收,能够显著降低高频冲击。当孔隙率为70%、高度为3层(约14.4mm)时,SRS峰值达到最低,测点1和测点2的SRS峰值分别降低48.1%和52.7%,且该结构可通过3D打印技术制造。对4340钢、Ti-6Al-4V、2024铝以及紫铜等材料进行对比分析发现,低屈服强度的铜合金与铝合金在中高频段展现出明显的降冲击优势,其中铜材料使4 500 Hz处的SRS峰值相较于钛合金降低4 324g。综合考量缓冲性能、工艺可行性以及航天无多余物要求,推荐选用孔隙率为70%、高度为3层的2024铝合金阵列垫块。本研究为爆炸螺栓的降冲击设计提供了可直接用于工程实践的参数依据。 展开更多

Among the many strategies to fabricate the silicon/carbon composite,yolk/double-shells structure can be regarded as an effective strategy to overcome the intrinsic defects of Si-based anode materials for Li-ion batteries(LIBs).Hereon,a facile and inexpensive technology to prepare silicon/carbon composite with yolk/double-shells structure is proposed,in which the double buffering carbon shells are fabricated.The silicon/carbon nanoparticles with core-shell structure are encapsulated by SiO_(2)and external carbon layer,and it shows the yolk/double-shells structure via etching the SiO_(2)sacrificial layer.The multiply shells structure not only significantly improves the electrical conductivity of composite,but also effectively prevents the exposure of Si particles from the electrolyte composition.Meanwhile,the yolk/double-shells structure can provide enough space to accommodate the volume change of the electrode during charge/discharge process and avoid the pulverization of Si particles.Moreover,the as-prepared YDS-Si/C shows excellent performance as anode of LIBs,the reversible capacity is as high as 1066 mA h g^(-1) at the current density of 0.5 A g^(-1) after 200 cycles.At the same time,the YDS-Si/C has high capacity retention and good cyclic stability.Therefore,the unique architecture design of yolk/double-shells for Si/C composite provides an instructive exploration for the development of next generation anode materials of LIBs with high electrochemical performances and structural stability. 展开更多

A top-contact organic field-effect transistor (OFET) is fabricated by adopting a pentacene/1,11-bis(di-4- tolylaminophenyl) cyclohexane (TAPC) heterojunction structure and inserting an MoO3 buffer layer between the TAPC organic semiconductor layer and the source/drain electrode. The performances of the heterojunction OFET, including output current, field-effect mobility, and threshed voltage~ are all significantly improved by introducing the MoO3 thin buffer layer. The performance improvement of the modified heterojunction OFET is attributed to a better contact formed at the Au/TAPC interface due to the MoO3 thin buffer layer, thereby leading to a remarkable reduction of the contact resistance at the metal/organic interface. 展开更多

Structural Controls on the Geochemistry and Output of the Wells in the Olkaria Geothermal Field of the Kenyan Rift Valley

Structures in the Greate... The Olkaria geothermal field is located in the Kenya Rift valley, about 120 km from Nairobi. Geothermal activity is widespread in this rift with 14 major geothermal prospects being identified. Structures in the Greater Olkaria volcanic complex include: the ring structure, the Ol’Njorowa gorge, the ENE-WSW Olkaria fault and N-S, NNE-SSW, NW-SE and WNW-ESE trending faults. The faults are more prominent in the East, Northeast and West Olkaria fields but are scarce in the Olkaria Domes area, possibly due to the thick pyroclastics cover. The NW-SE and WNW- ESE faults are thought to be the oldest and are associated with the development of the rift. The most prominent of these faults is the Gorge Farm fault, which bounds the geothermal fields in the northeastern part and extends to the Olkaria Domes area. The most recent structures are the N-S and the NNE-SSW faults. The geochemistry and output of the wells cut by these faults have a distinct characteristic that is the N-S, NW-SE and WNW-ESE faults are characterized by wells that have high Cl contents, temperatures and are good producers whereas the NE-SW faults, the Ring Structure and the Ol’Njorowa gorge appear to carry cool dilute waters with less chloride concentration and thus low performing wells. Though the impacts of these faults are apparent, there exists a gap in knowledge on how wide is the impact of these faults on the chemistry and performance of the wells. This paper therefore seeks to bridge this gap by analysis of the chemical trends of both old wells and newly drilled ones to evaluate the impacts of individual faults and then using buffering technique of ArcGis estimate how far and wide the influence of the faults is. The data was obtained after the sampling and analysis of discharge fluids of wells located on six profiles along the structures cutting through the field. Steam samples were collected with a stainless steel Webre separator connected between the wellhead and an atmospheric silencer on the discharging wells whereas the analysis was done in house in the KenGen geochemistry laboratory. The results indicates that Olkaria field has three categories of faults that control fluid flow that is the NW-SE trending faults that bring in high temperature and Cl rich waters, and the NE-SW trending Olkaria fracture tend to carry cool temperature waters that have led to decline in enthalpies of the wells it cuts through. The faults within the Ol Njorowa gorge act to carry cool, less mineralized water. Though initially, these effects were thought to be in shallow depths, an indication in OW-901 which is a deeper at 2200 m compared to 1600 m of OW-23 well that proves otherwise. 为研究缓冲层对桩板墙结构支护膨胀土边坡的力学与变形特性的影响,以湖北当阳某铁路膨胀土边坡的桩板墙-缓冲层[包括聚苯乙烯泡沫(EPS)缓冲层和袋装砂石缓冲层2种]组合支护结构为对象,通过实施现场试验,分析气候环境作用下该组合支护结... 为研究缓冲层对桩板墙结构支护膨胀土边坡的力学与变形特性的影响,以湖北当阳某铁路膨胀土边坡的桩板墙-缓冲层[包括聚苯乙烯泡沫(EPS)缓冲层和袋装砂石缓冲层2种]组合支护结构为对象,通过实施现场试验,分析气候环境作用下该组合支护结构中的土体湿度、桩身位移、板后土压力及桩与板弯矩的变化规律,揭示不同缓冲层情况下膨胀土边坡-缓冲层-桩板墙组合支护结构的相互作用及其协同的力学与变形关系.结果表明:相比于袋装砂石缓冲层,EPS缓冲层能够更有效地降低侧向膨胀压力,在本试验中测得最大消减率为69%.同时,EPS缓冲层能够及时响应气候环境引起的膨胀土胀缩变化,继而动态改善板后侧向总土压力的分布,而袋装砂石缓冲层对气候环境的响应能力明显相对较弱.膨胀土边坡-EPS缓冲层-桩板墙结构三者之间能够形成稳定的协调相互作用,进而降低膨胀土膨胀特性对桩间板弯矩的影响. 展开更多
