Deep ultraviolet coherent light,particularly at the wavelength of 193 nm,has become indispensable for semiconductor lithography.We present a compact solid-state nanosecond pulsed laser system capable of generating 193-nm coherent light at the repetition rate of 6 kHz.One part of the 1030-nm laser from the homemade Yb:YAG crystal amplifier is divided to generate 258 nm laser(1.2 W)by fourth-harmonic generation,and the rest is used to pump an optical parametric amplifier producing 1553 nm laser(700 mW).Frequency mixing of these beams in cascaded LiB_(3)O_(5) crystals yields a 193-nm laser with 70-mW average power and a linewidth of less than 880 MHz.By introducing a spiral phase plate to the 1553-nm beam before frequency mixing,we generate a vortex beam carrying orbital angular momentum.This is,to our knowledge,the first demonstration of a 193-nm vortex beam generated from a solid-state laser.Such a beam could be valuable for seeding hybrid ArF excimer lasers and has potential applications in wafer processing and defect inspection. 展开更多

Electron beam injectors are pivotal components of large-scale scientific instruments,such as synchrotron radiation sources,free-electron lasers,and electron-positron colliders.The quality of the electron beam produced by the injector critically influences the performance of the entire accelerator-based scientific research apparatus.The injectors of such facilities usually use photocathode and thermionic-cathode electron guns.Although the photocathode injector can produce electron beams of excellent quality,its associated laser system is massive and intricate.The thermionic-cathode electron gun,especially the gridded electron gun injector,has a simple structure capable of generating numerous electron beams.However,its emittance is typically high.In this study,methods to reduce beam emittance are explored through a comprehensive analysis of various grid structures and preliminary design results,examining the evolution of beam phase space at different grid positions.An optimization method for reducing the emittance of a gridded thermionic-cathode electron gun is proposed through theoretical derivation,electromagnetic-field simulation,and beam-dynamics simulation.A 50%reduction in emittance was achieved for a 50 keV,1.7 A electron gun,laying the foundation for the subsequent design of a high-current,low-emittance injector. 展开更多

Tropical cyclone secondary eyewall width modulation:Differential impacts of surface environmental wind-vertical shear alignment and counter-alignment configurations

This study investigates the width of the secondary eyewall(SE)immediately following its formation in tropical cyclones with surface environmental winds aligned and counter-aligned with environmental vertical wind shear(VWS),using idealized numerical experiments.Results reveal that the SE develops greater radial extent when surface winds align with VWS compared to counter-aligned conditions.In alignment configurations,shear-enhanced surface winds on the right flank amplify surface enthalpy fluxes,thereby elevating boundary-layer entropy within the downshear outer-core region.Subsequently,more vigorous outer rainbands develop,inducing marked acceleration of tangential winds in the outer core preceding SE formation.The resultant radial expansion of supergradient winds near the boundary-layer top triggers widespread convective activity immediately beyond the inner core.Progressive axisymmetrization of this convective forcing ultimately generates an expansive SE structure. 展开更多

Evaluation of polycarbonate films as detection materials for high‑dose electron beam radiation detection

In this study,the dosimetric characteristics(thickness applicability,preheating time,temperature and humidity dependence,in-batch uniformity,readout reproducibility,dose linearity,self-decay,and electron energy response)of engineered polycarbonate films irradiated with an electron beam(0–600 kGy)were investigated using photoluminescence spectroscopy.The results show a linear relationship between photoluminescence intensity and radiation dose when the thickness of the polycarbonate film is 0.3 mm.A higher fluorescence intensity can be obtained by preheating at 60℃ for 180 min before photoluminescence spectrum analysis.As the temperature during spectral testing and the ambient humidity(during and after irradiation)increased,the photoluminescence intensity of the polycarbonate films decreased.The photoluminescence intensity deviation of the polycarbonate films produced within the same batch at 100 kGy is 2.73%.After ten times of repeated excitations and readouts,the coefficients of variation in photoluminescence intensity are less than 8.6%,and the linear correlation coefficient between photoluminescence intensity and irradiation dose is 0.965 in the dose capture range of 20–600 kGy.Within 60 days of irradiation,the photoluminescence intensity of the polycarbonate film decreased to 60%of the initial value.The response of the 0.3 mm polycarbonate films to electron beams with energies exceeding 3.5 MeV does not differ significantly.This comprehensive analysis indicates the potential of polycarbonate films as a high-radiation dose detection material. 展开更多

This paper deals with a correction method for corrosive crack width caused by non-uniform corrosion. Considering the corrosion cracking characteristics of a reinforced concrete structure, a correction model of corrosive crack width involving the mutual impacts between adjacent measuring points is established. The calculation model for steel bar corrosion rate for single point is obtained through quantitative analysis and accelerated corrosion tests on more than 70 reinforced cubic members. Two methods are suggested by combining two models, the correction and the corrosion calculation ones. Electrolyte accelerated cor- rosion tests on seven beams are carried out to verify these methods. The experimental results show that the ratio between the maximum corrosion rate by the indirect method and the measured average value ranges from 1.4 to 2.4, and the indirect method is shown to be an effective method for calculating the maximum corrosion rate. 展开更多

We report on a compact, stable, all-fiberized narrow-linewidth(0.045 nm) pulsed laser source emitting laser beam with a wavelength of 266 nm, and tunable pulse width and repetition rate. The system is based on all-fiberized nanosecond amplifier architecture, which consists of Yb-doped fiber preamplifiers and a super-large-mode-area Yb-doped fiber power amplifier. The fiber amplifier with a core of 50 μm is used to raise the threshold of the stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS) effect and to obtain high output power and single pulse energy. Using lithium triborate(LBO) crystal and betabarium borate(BBO) crystal for realizing the second-harmonic generation(SHG) and fourth-harmonic generation(FHG),we achieve 17 μJ(1.73 W) and 0.66 μJ(66 mW), respectively, at wavelengths of 532 nm and 266 nm and a repetition rate of 100 kHz with pulse width of 4 ns. This source has great potential applications in fluorescence research and solar-blind ultraviolet optical communication. 展开更多

The terahertz(THz)vortex beam generators are designed and theoretically investigated based on single-layer ultra-thin transmission metasurfaces.Noncontinuous phase changes of metasurfaces are obtained by utilizing Pancharatnam-Berry phase elements,which possess different rotation angles and are arranged on two concentric rings centered on the origin.The circularly polarized incident THz beam could be turned into a cross-polarization transmission wave,and the orbital angular momentum(OAM)varies in value by lh.The l values change from±1 to±5,and the maximal cross-polarization conversion efficiency that could be achieved is 23%,which nearly reaches the theoretical limit of a single-layer structure.The frequency range of the designed vortex generator is from 1.2 THz to 1.9 THz,and the generated THz vortex beam could keep a high fidelity in the operating bandwidth.The propagation behavior of the emerged THz vortex beam is analyzed in detail.Our work offers a novel way of designing ultra-thin and single-layer vortex beam generators,which have low process complexity,high conversion efficiency and broad bandwidth. 展开更多

Periodic Measurements of Passive Proton Beam Width Using Radiochromic Film in Fixed Gantry System

Background and Aim: Irradiation methods such as double scattering method and spot scanning method have been used in proton beam treatment devices. In the scattering method, a ridge filter or a range modulation wheel is used to create a spread-out Bragg peak, but the distribution at the patient position may change due to positional deviation of the incident beam. Therefore, assessment of the incident position of the beam is very important even in the scattering method. To investigate the width and distribution of the proton beam before entering the RMW, a radiochromic film was installed at the outlet of the transport pipe and the entrance of the profile-monitoring detector. Methods: In this study, the distributions of the beam at the exit of the transport pipe and the entrance of the monitor detector were measured using films. The beam width was measured from the full width at half maximum of the profile obtained from the distribution. Measurements were conducted every month for 10 months. Results: Beams of widths ranging from 1.82 to 2.30 mm in the horizontal direction and 4.25 to 5.33 mm in the vertical direction were outputted from the exit of the transport pipe. Beams of widths ranging from 2.16 to 2.67 mm in the horizontal direction and 4.06 to 5.31 mm in the vertical direction were outputted from the entrance of the monitor detector. The maximum width fluctuation for 10 months was 0.55 mm in the horizontal direction and 1.26 mm in the vertical direction at the entrance of the monitor detector. Conclusions: The distribution was obtained before the proton beam was scattered by the scatterer, and then we propose a method to periodically measure and monitor the changes in the beam distributions every month. 展开更多

A compact and broadband circularly polarized (CP) annular ring antenna with wide beam-width is proposed for multiple global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) in the L1 band. The annular ring is excited by two modified L-probes with quadrature phase difference. It has a 36.3% 10-dB return loss bandwidth and a 13% 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth, because of the orthogonal L-probes with 90° phase difference. The measured peak gain of the antenna is 3.9 dBic. It can detect the satellites at lower elevation as its half power beam-width (HPBW) is 113° in both the x-z and y-z planes, achieving a cross-polarization level of larger than 25 dB. Noticeably, the antenna achieves 89% size reduction compared with the conventional half wavelength patch antennas. It can be used in hand-held navigation devices of multiple GNSS such as COMPASS, Galileo, GPS and GLONASS. 展开更多

A simple rectangular microstrip antenna on low dielectric constant substrate such as air for improved radiation beam performance is theoretically investigated. The conventional patch antenna fabricated on common substrates always produces quite broader E plane pattern compared to its H plane. In the present investigation, the same microstrip antenna is designed on air substrate with a view to develop an efficient feed for parabolic reflector antenna, which shows an excellent radiation pattern with symmetrical 3 dB beam widths at its both E and H plane. The present antenna compared to conventional structure to show its excellence in the beam performance is presented. The complete quantitative analysis to explore such radiation beam characteristics for both the structures (conventional and the present one) is also presented in this paper. An easy and handful relationship between the length of patch antenna and its fringing length for different types of substrate is established in the background of 3 dB beam widths. The proposed idea has been verified through a commercial software package for a patch operating in X band and a concrete physical insight into the phenomenon is developed. 展开更多

In this investigation square concrete footings have been used with dimensions (B × B × d) where (d) is footing depth and (B) is footing width (1, 1.5,2 m). Width of tie beam (b) has been taken equal to 0.25, 0.30, 0.40, 0.50 and 0.75 (m). Tie beam length (L) has been taken varying from B till 3B with same footing depth = 0.50 m. Effect of overlap stress on settlement as well as effect of tie beam width and length on settlement has been determined. Also, the efficiency of tie beam length and width has been obtained. An equation is presented to compute the overlap stress zone in case of existing tie beam. It is found that the settlement increases with increasing the length of tie beam which is clear after the effect of the overlap stresses zone. The width of overlap stress zone case of existing tie beam has been found to be equal to (1.6 -1.75) B. The settlement of footings decreases with increasing tie beam width. It is found that the settlement after the effect of the overlap stress zone increases with increasing the length of tie beam. 展开更多

Direct Measurement of Medical Linear Accelerator Electron Beam Width at Scattering Foil Position

Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop a method for the direct measurement of electron beam width and distribution at the scattering foil on the carrousel in a medical linear accelerator gantry head, which differs from an existing indirect method for measuring the focal spot size using a camera or metallic slit located outside the gantry head. Methods: The electron beam emitted by the linear accelerator was used to irradiate radiochromic film mounted on the scattering foil on the carrousel, which was not used for clinical treatment. The electron beam width at the scattering foil position was then evaluated using the full width at half maximum of the Gaussian distribution approximated from each one dimensional distribution of the irradiated radiochromic film. Results: The electron beam width at the scattering foil position was found to be 3.1 to 6.4 mm in the crossline direction and 2.8 to 5.5 mm in the inline direction with electron energy of 4 to 16 MeV. The two-dimensional distribution of the electron beam was therefore elliptical or distorted in shape, not circular. Conclusions: Direct measurement of the electron beam width at the scattering foil in the carrousel of a medical linear accelerator is possible, though the use of lower sensitivity film in addition to indirect methods is expected to bring about better results. However, as this method does not allow for direct measurement of the incident angle of the accelerated electron beam, further improvements and refinements are still needed. 展开更多

改进Beams模型的建筑物冲突处理方法与移位研究

为了在保持建筑物空间分布的约束下解决地图的邻近冲突问题,利用约束Delaunay三角网对地图上建筑物图形的邻近冲突进行了识别,在原有弹性梁(Beams)模型的基础上对邻近对象的作用力算法、建筑物相似性算法进行改进,并在移位算子中增加0.5... 为了在保持建筑物空间分布的约束下解决地图的邻近冲突问题,利用约束Delaunay三角网对地图上建筑物图形的邻近冲突进行了识别,在原有弹性梁(Beams)模型的基础上对邻近对象的作用力算法、建筑物相似性算法进行改进,并在移位算子中增加0.50 mm最大移位距离的约束来解决建筑物图形的邻近冲突,同时为证明算法改进的有效性,设计了3个对比实验.结果显示:改进邻近对象作用力算法有效解决了建筑物与道路之间的冲突问题,冲突严重性下降了99.53%;改进建筑物相似性算法有效保持了移位前后建筑物的空间分布特征,尤其是建筑物的直线排列;而增加0.50 mm最大移位距离的约束使得建筑物的平均移位距离下降了52.87%,提高了移位后建筑物在地图上的位置精度.结论:利用改进Beams模型对地图上的建筑物图形进行移位,不仅可以有效解决地图中建筑物图形的邻近冲突,而且可以较好地保持建筑物的空间分布特征. 展开更多

A novel polarization beam splitter(PBS)based on dual-core photonic crystal fiber(DC-PCF)is proposed in this work.The proposed DC-PCF PBS contains two kinds of lattices and three kinds of air holes to form the asymmetrical elliptic dual-core structure.By using the full-vector finite element method,the propagation characteristics of the proposed DC-PCF PBS are investigated.The simulation results show that the bandwidth of the proposed DC-PCF PBS can reach to 340 nm,which covers the S+C+L+U communication bands,the shortest splitting length is 1.97 mm,and the maximum extinction ratio appears near wavelength 1550 nm.Moreover,the insertion loss of the proposed DC-PCF PBS is very low.It is believed that the proposed DC-PCF PBS has important applications in the field of all-optical communication and network. 展开更多

This paper presents a design method to implement an antenna array characterized by ultra-wide beam coverage,low profile,and low Sidelobe Level(SLL)for the application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)air-to-ground communication.The array consists of ten broadside-radiating,ultrawide-beamwidth elements that are cascaded by a central-symmetry series-fed network with tapered currents following Dolph-Chebyshev distribution to provide low SLL.First,an innovative design of end-fire Huygens source antenna that is compatible with metal ground is presented.A low-profile,half-mode Microstrip Patch Antenna(MPA)is utilized to serve as the magnetic dipole and a monopole is utilized to serves as the electric dipole,constructing the compact,end-fire,grounded Huygens source antenna.Then,two opposite-oriented end-fire Huygens source antennas are seamlessly integrated into a single antenna element in the form of monopole-loaded MPA to accomplish the ultrawide,broadside-radiating beam.Particular consideration has been applied into the design of series-fed network as well as antenna element to compensate the adverse coupling effects between elements on the radiation performance.Experiment indicates an ultrawide Half-Power Beamwidth(HPBW)of 161°and a low SLL of-25 dB with a high gain of 12 d Bi under a single-layer configuration.The concurrent ultrawide beamwidth and low SLL make it particularly attractive for applications of UAV air-to-ground communication. 展开更多

The planar-integrated magneto-optical trap(PIMOT)offers a promising platform for miniaturizing cold atom systems,but its performance and laser-power efficiency are limited by the typically Gaussian profile of the input laser beam.In this work,we present a simplified and cost-effective beam shaping solution to transform the Gaussian input into a flat-top intensity distribution using a compact system of four spherical lenses.The reshaped light field could potentially enhances PIMOT performance by improving the uniformity of the optical radiation pressure and increasing the trap distance from the chip surface.With this approach,we demonstrate a substantial reduction in the optical power required to trap 2.5×10^(5)^(87)Rb atoms,down to 30%compared to a standard Gaussian beam input.Our results open the door to more efficient and flexible PIMOT systems for quantum sensing,metrology,and atom-based quantum technology. 展开更多

Red-green-blue(RGB)beam combiners are widely used in scenarios such as augmented reality/virtual reality(AR/VR),laser projection,biochemical detection,and other fields.Optical waveguide combiners have attracted extensive attention due to their advantages of small size,high multiplexing efficiency,convenient mass production,and low cost.An RGB beam combiner based on directional couplers is designed,with a core-cladding relative refractive index difference of 0.75%.The RGB beam combiner is optimized from the perspective of parameter optimization.Using the beam propagation method(BPM),the relationship between the performance of the RGB beam combiner and individual parameters is studied,achieving preliminary optimization of the device’s performance.The key parameters of the RGB beam combiner are optimized using the entropy weight-technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution TOPSIS method,establishing the optimal parameter scheme and further improving the device’s performance indicators.The results show that after optimization,the multiplexing efficiencies for red,green,and blue lights,as well as the average multiplexing efficiency,reached 99.17%,99.76%,96.63%and 98.52%,respectively.The size of the RGB beam combiner is 4.768 mm×0.062 mm. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Post-hepatectomy liver failure(PHLF)after liver resection is one of the main complications causing postoperative death in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).It is crucial to help clinicians identify potential high-risk PHLF patients as early as possible through preoperative evaluation.AIM To identify risk factors for PHLF and develop a prediction model.METHODS This study included 248 patients with HCC at The Second Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University between January 2014 and December 2023;these patients were divided into a training group(n=164)and a validation group(n=84)via random sampling.The independent variables for the occurrence of PHLF were identified by univariate and multivariate analyses and visualized as nomograms.Ultimately,comparisons were made with traditional models via receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves,calibration curves,and decision curve analysis(DCA).RESULTS In this study,portal vein width[odds ratio(OR)=1.603,95%CI:1.288-1.994,P≤0.001],the preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)(OR=1.495,95%CI:1.126-1.984,P=0.005),and the albumin-bilirubin(ALBI)score(OR=8.868,95%CI:2.144-36.678,P=0.003)were independent risk factors for PHLF.A nomogram prediction model was developed using these factors.ROC and DCA analyses revealed that the predictive efficacy and clinical value of this model were better than those of traditional models.CONCLUSION A new Nomogram model for predicting PHLF in HCC patients was successfully established based on portal vein width,the NLR,and the ALBI score,which outperforms the traditional model. 展开更多
