Objective: To investigate the effect of a self-developed balance rhythm dance program on the rehabilitation of motor function and the reduction of fall risk in elderly women with diminished balance function. Methods: Fifty elderly women with reduced balance function, admitted to the Qingbar Elderly Care Center of Chongqing Medical University from December 2022 to December 2023, were randomly selected and divided into two groups. The aerobic exercise group (25 patients) received traditional treatment and rehabilitation nursing, while the balance rhythm dance intervention group (25 patients) received the balance rhythm dance intervention in addition to traditional treatment and rehabilitation nursing. The Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) and Berg Balance Scale (BBS) were used as evaluation indicators to compare the intervention effects between the two groups. Results: The data revealed that the balance rhythm dance intervention significantly improved the motor ability and balance function of elderly women in the intervention group (P < 0.01), with statistically significant differences observed. Conclusion: The balance rhythm dance program plays a critical role in promoting the rehabilitation of motor function and balance ability in elderly women, effectively enhancing their quality of life. 展开更多

Cyber-physical power system(CPPS)has significantly improved the operational efficiency of power systems.However,cross-space cascading failures may occur due to the coupling characteristics, which poses a great threat to the safety and reliability of CPPS,and there is an acute need to reduce the probability of these failures.Towards this end, this paper first proposes a cascading failure index to identify and quantify the importance of different information in the same class of communication services. On this basis,a joint improved risk-balanced service function chain routing strategy(SFC-RS)is proposed, which is modeled as a robust optimization problem and solved by column-and-constraint generation(C-CG)algorithm.Compared with the traditional shortest-path routing algorithm, the superiority of SFC-RS is verified in the IEEE 30-bus system. The results demonstrate that SFC-RS effectively mitigates the risk associated with information transmission in the network, enhances information transmission accessibility, and effectively limits communication disruption from becoming the cause of cross-space cascading failures. 展开更多

Balanced acupuncture, a single-acupoint balance therapy, regulates the balance of the cerebral center, and is characterized by exerting quick effects and a short treatment course. A total of 20 low-back and leg pain patients with lumbar disc herniation were treated with balanced acupuncture or body acupuncture. Central mechanisms of vaded acupunctures were compared using resting-state functional MRI. Patients from both groups received functional MRI before and after acupuncture. Functional connectivity in brain regions that were strongly associated with the bilatera amygdala was analyzed utilizing AFNI software. Visual analogue scale scores were greater in the balanced acupuncture group compared with the body acupuncture group. Function of the endogenous pain regulation network was enhanced in patients in the balanced acupuncture group, but was not changed in the body acupuncture group. This result indicates that the analgesic effects of body acupuncture do not work through the central nervous system. These data suggest that balanced acupuncture exerts analgesic effects on low-back and leg pain patients with lumbar disc herniation by regulating the function of the endogenous pain regulation network. 展开更多

Understanding the neural underpinning of human gait and balance is one of the most pertinent challenges for 21st-century translational neuroscience due to the profound impact that falls and mobility disturbances have on our aging population.Posture and gait control does not happen automatically,as previously believed, but rather requires continuous involvement of central nervous mechanisms. To effectively exert control over the body, the brain must integrate multiple streams of sensory information, including visual, vestibular, and somatosensory signals. The mechanisms which underpin the integration of these multisensory signals are the principal topic of the present work.Existing multisensory integration theories focus on how failure of cognitive processes thought to be involved in multisensory integration leads to falls in older adults.Insufficient emphasis, however, has been placed on specific contributions of individual sensory modalities to multisensory integration processes and cross-modal interactions that occur between the sensory modalities in relation to gait and balance. In the present work,we review the contributions of somatosensory, visual, and vestibular modalities, along with their multisensory intersections to gait and balance in older adults and patients with Parkinson’s disease. We also review evidence of vestibular contributions to multisensory temporal binding windows, previously shown to be highly pertinent to fall risk in older adults.Lastly,we relate multisensory vestibular mechanisms to potential neural substrates, both at the level of neurobiology(concerning positron emission tomography imaging)and at the level of electrophysiology(concerning electroencephalography). We hope that this integrative review, drawing influence across multiple subdisciplines of neuroscience, paves the way for novel research directions and therapeutic neuromodulatory approaches,to improve the lives of older adults and patients with neurodegenerative diseases. 展开更多

In order to make reconfigurable manufacturing system (RMS) adapt to the fluctuations of production demand with the minimum number of reconflgurations in its full life cycle, we presented a method to design RMS based on the balanced distribution of functional characteristics for ma- chines. With this method, functional characteristics were classified based on machining functions of cutting-tools and machining accuracy of machines. Then the optimization objective was set as the to- tal shortest mobile distance that all the workpieces are moved from one machine to another, and an improved genetic algorithm (GA) was proposed to optimize the configuration. The elitist strategy was used to enhance the global optimization ability of GA, and excellent gene pool was designed to maintain the diversity of population. Software Matlab was used to realize the algorithm, and a case study of simulation was used to evaluate the method. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE To investigate possible associations between physical function assessment scales, such as Short Physical Performance Battery(SPPB)and Berg Balance Scale(BBS),with all-cause mortality in acute decompensated heart failure(ADHF)patients.METHODS A total of 108 ADHF patients were analyzed from October 2020 to October 2022,and followed up to May 2023.The association between baseline clinical characteristics and all-cause mortality was analyzed by univariate Cox regression analysis, while for SPPB and BBS,univariate Cox regression analysis was followed by receiver operating characteristic curves,in which the area under the curve represented their predictive accuracy for all-cause mortality.Incremental predictive values for both physical function assessments were measured by calculating net reclassification index and integrated discrimination improvement scores.Optimal cutoff value for BBS was then identified using restricted cubic spline plots, and survival differences below and above that cut-off were compared using Kaplan-Meier survival curves and the log-rank test. The clinical utility of BBS was measured using decision curve analysis.RESULTS For baseline characteristics, age, female, blood urea nitrogen,as well as statins,angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers,or angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitors, were predictive for all-cause mortality for ADHF patients. With respect to SPPB and BBS,higher scores were associated with lower all-cause mortality rates for both assessments;similar area under the curves were measured for both(0.774 for SPPB and 0.776 for BBS).Furthermore,BBS≤36.5 was associated with significantly higher mortality, which was still applicable even adjusting for confounding factors;BBS was also found to have great clinical utility under decision curve analysis.CONCLUSIONS BBS or SPPB could be used as tools to assess physical function in ageing ADHF patients,as well as prognosticate on all-cause mortality. Moreover, prioritizing the improvement of balance capabilities of ADHF patients in cardiac rehabilitation regimens could aid in lowering mortality risk. 展开更多

Objective To observe therapeutic effects of scalp acupuncture at close acupoints combined with rehabilitation training on balance functions of children with cerebral palsy (CP). Methods Sixty children with CP were randomly divided into a scalp acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training group (group SA+RT) and a rehabilitation training group (group RT) with 30 cases in each group. Conventional rehabilitation therapy and balance training were applied in group RT, and scalp acupuncture at close acupoints in the parietal region and sub-occipital region was added besides rehabilitation training in group SA+RT. Balance functions were evaluated by using Berg rating scale, and abilities of daily living were estimated by using rating scale for activities of daily living (ADL). Results After treatment, both Berg scores for balance and ADL scores were significantly improved in both groups (all P0.05), and the improvement in group SA+RT was more obvious than that in group RT ( both P0.05). Conclusion Combination of scalp acupuncture at close acupoints with rehabilitation training is superior to simple rehabilitation training in improving balance functions and activities of daily living in children with cerebral palsy. 展开更多

In order to increase mulberry leaf yield and production efficiency in hilly areas of Sichuan Province through scientific fertilization,"3414",a quadratic regression design for modern fertilization, was employed to simulate the regression relationship between mulberry leaf yield and major fertilizer elements including nitrogen(N),phosphor(P) and potassium(K) among which mulberry leaf yield was the objective function and N,P and K were the regulatory factors to fertilization level. As a result,7 types of ternary, binary and monadic quadratic fertilizer effect functions of N,P and K fertilizer elements were established. The weight of fertilizer factors in the optimal mulberry leaf yield obtained by various types of functions was in decreasing order of KPKPNPKNKNNP,and the weight of fertilizer factors in the ratio of leaf yield to input was in decreasing order of K〉PK〉NPK〉P〉NK〉NP〉N.To be specific, the ternary quadratic fertilizer effect function(Y=20 313+0.25X1+43.48 X2+34.47X3-0.01X1^2-0.14X2^2-0.06X3^2+0.05X1X2+0.02X1X3-0.07X2X3,in which X1,X2 and X3 indicate the fertilizer factors N,P and K,respectively) was a model containing all factors, thereby being a recommended fertilization program for mulberry field.Single factor effect analysis indicated that K fertilizer had the highest influence on mulberry leaf yield and ratio of leaf yield to input. Therefore, among all the simulation functions, the monadic quadratic fertilizer effect function of K fertilizer factor(Y=25 002.27+44.728X3-0.084X32) leads to the optimal leaf yield and maximum ratio of leaf yield to input.By using the optimal fertilization program with 600 kg/hm2 N,210 kg/hm2 P2O5 and 254.33 kg/hm2 K2O,the optimal economic leaf yield obtained is 30 945.00 kg/hm2,the cost of fertilizer input is 4 403.65 yuan/hm2,and the ratio of leaf yield to input is as high as 17.57.After verification by production practices, the recommended fertilization indicators in the optimal mulberry fertilization program can provide reference for the construction of high-yield mulberry field in hilly areas of Sichuan Province. 展开更多

Virtual reality is a new technology that simulates a three-dimensional virtual world on a com- puter and enables the generation of visual, audio, and haptic feedback for the full immersion of users. Users can interact with and observe objects in three-dimensional visual space without limitation. At present, virtual reality training has been widely used in rehabilitation therapy for balance dysfunction. This paper summarizes related articles and other articles suggesting that virtual reality training can improve balance dysfunction in patients after neurological diseases. When patients perform virtual reality training, the prefrontal, parietal cortical areas and other motor cortical networks are activated. These activations may be involved in the reconstruction of neurons in the cerebral cortex. Growing evidence from clinical studies reveals that virtual reality training improves the neurological function of patients with spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy and other neurological impairments. These findings suggest that virtual reality training can acti- vate the cerebral cortex and improve the spatial orientation capacity of patients, thus facilitating the cortex to control balance and increase motion function. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Dysfunction in stroke patients has been a problem that we committed to solve and explore.Physical therapy has some effect to regain strength, balance, and coordination. However,it is not a complete cure,so we are trying to find more effective treatments.AIM To observe the effect of whole-body vibration training(WVT)on the recovery of balance and walking function in stroke patients, which could provide us some useful evidence for planning rehabilitation.METHODS The clinical data of 130 stroke participants who underwent conventional rehabilitation treatment in our hospital from January 2019 to August 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The participants were divided into whole-body vibration training(WVT)group and non-WVT(NWVT)group according to whether they were given WVT.In the WVT group, routine rehabilitation therapy was combined with WVT by the Galileo Med L Plus vibration trainer at a frequency of 20 Hz and a vibration amplitude of 0+ACY-plusmn+ADs-5.2 mm,and in the NWVT group, routine rehabilitation therapy only was provided. The treatment course of the two groups was 4 wk.Before and after treatment, the Berg balance scale(BBS),3 m timed up-and-go test(TUGT),the maximum walking speed test(MWS),and upper limb functional reaching(FR)test were performed.RESULTS After 4 wk training,in both groups, the BBS score and the FR distance respectively increased to a certain amount(WVT=46.08±3.41 vs NWVT=40.22±3.75;WVT=20.48±2.23 vs NWVT=16.60±2.82),with P<0.05.Furthermore,in the WVT group, both BBS score and FR distance(BBS:18.32±2.18;FR:10.00±0.92)increased more than that in the NWVT group(BBS:13.29±1.66;FR:6.16±0.95),with P<0.05.Meanwhile,in both groups, the TUGT and the MWS were improved after training(WVT=32.64±3.81 vs NWVT=39.56±3.68;WVT=12.73±2.26 vs NWVT=15.04±2.27,respectively),with P<0.05.The change in the WVT group(TUGT:17.49±1.88;MWS:6.79±0.81)was greater than that in the NWVT group(TUGT:10.76±1.42;MWS:4.84±0.58),with P<0.05.CONCLUSION The WVT could effectively improve the balance and walking function in stroke patients, which may be good for improving their quality of life. 展开更多

Promoting regional coordinated development strategy is one of the important strategies in the new period of China.Faced with the reality of unbalanced and insufficient regional development in China,it is objectively necessary to construct one or more main axes supporting the coordinated and balanced development of regions to become the identification line representing the pattern of coordinated regional development. The results show that the Bo-Tai line, the northwest-southeast axis connecting Bole of Xinjiang and Taipei of Taiwan, can be built into national development backbone line and regional balanced development line, just perpendicular to Hu Line.In 2016,the area of southwest half and northeast half of Bo-Tai Line accounts for 60%:40%,while the population accounts for 45%:55%,the economic aggregate accounts for 40%:60%,the per capita GDP ratio accounts for 44%:56%,the population density ratio accounts for 38%:62%,the economic density ratio accounts for 32%:68%,and the urbanization level ratio accounts for 48%:52%.The main average indicators are gradually tending to balanced development pattern.Further analysis shows that Bo-Tai Line is a strategic shoulder pole connecting two core zones of"the Belt and Road",and is the peaceful reunification line of China's national tranquility and Taiwan's return.Bo-Tai Line is also a solid line supported and connected by comprehensive transportation channels and a Pipa type symmetrical line for the development of cities and urban agglomerations. It is the backbone of the two-way opening up and the linkage development line between land and sea.It is also an important dividing line that promotes the coordinated development of the eastern, central and western regions, and addresses the imbalance and inadequacy of regional development.Bo-Tai Line plays an irreplaceable strategic role in promoting the coordinated and balanced regional development. It is suggested that the construction of Bo-Tai Line should be included in the national development strategy, and the development strategic plan of Bo-Tai Line should be formulated to fully release the multiple potential functions. We should build three strategic support points:the northwest endpoint, the central strategic node and the southeast endpoint;carry out a comprehensive scientific investigation of the Bo-Tai Line, and strengthen the scientific cognition and publicity;promote China's development in a higherlevel,higher-quality,more coordinated, safer and more civilized direction.Let Chinese know about the Bo-Tai Line, let the world know about the Bo-Tai Line, and let the Bo-Tai Line truly become the backbone of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. 展开更多

Na^(+)/K^(+)-ATPase is a transmembrane protein that has important roles in the maintenance of electrochemical gradients across cell membranes by transporting three Na^(+)out of and two K^(+)into cells.Additionally,Na^(+)/K^(+)-ATPase participates in Ca^(2+)-signaling transduction and neurotransmitter release by coordinating the ion concentration gradient across the cell membrane.Na^(+)/K^(+)-ATPase works synergistically with multiple ion channels in the cell membrane to form a dynamic network of ion homeostatic regulation and affects cellular communication by regulating chemical signals and the ion balance among different types of cells.Therefo re,it is not surprising that Na^(+)/K^(+)-ATPase dysfunction has emerged as a risk factor for a variety of neurological diseases. However, published studies have so far only elucidated the important roles of Na^(+)/K^(+)-ATPase dysfunction in disease development, and we are lacking detailed mechanisms to clarify how Na^(+)/K^(+)-ATPase affects cell function. Our recent studies revealed that membrane loss of Na^(+)/K^(+)-ATPase is a key mechanism in many neurological disorders, particularly stroke and Parkinson's disease.Stabilization of plasma membrane Na^(+)/K^(+)-ATPase with an antibody is a novel strategy to treat these diseases. For this reason,Na^(+)/K^(+)-ATPase acts not only as a simple ion pump but also as a sensor/regulator or cytoprotective protein, participating in signal transduction such as neuronal autophagy and apoptosis, and glial cell migration. Thus, the present review attempts to summarize the novel biological functions of Na^(+)/K^(+)-ATPase and Na^(+)/K^(+)-ATPase-related pathogenesis. The potential for novel strategies to treat Na^(+)/K^(+)-ATPase-related brain diseases will also be discussed. 展开更多
