In doing so, converting from quantum master equations to time-evolution equation of the Wigner functions seems direct and concise. This study examines a new methodology to predict the final seismic mortality from earthquakes in China. Most studies established the association between mortality estimation and seismic intensity without considering the population density. In China, however, the data are not always available, especially when it comes to the very urgent relief situation in the disaster. And the popu- lation density varies greatly from region to region. This motivates the development of empirical models that use historical death data to provide the path to analyze the death tolls for earthquakes. The present paper employs the average population density to predict the final death tolls in earthquakes using a case-based reasoning model from realistic perspective. To validate the forecasting results, historical data from 18 large-scale earthquakes occurred in China are used to estimate the seismic morality of each case. And a typical earthquake case occurred in the northwest of Sichuan Province is employed to demonstrate the estimation of final death toll. The strength of this paper is that it provides scientific methods with overall forecast errors lower than 20 %, and opens the door for conducting final death forecasts with a qualitative and quantitative approach. Limitations and future research are also analyzed and discussed in the conclusion. 展开更多

Much has been written of the error in computing the baroclinic pressure gradient (BPG) with sigma coordinates in ocean or atmospheric numerical models. The usual way to reduce the error is to subtract area-averaged density stratification of the whole computation region. But if there is great difference between the area-averaged and the local averaged density stratification, the error will be obvious. An example is given to show that the error from this method may be larger than that from no correction sometimes. The definition of local area is put forward. Then, four improved BPG difference schemes of subtracting the local averaged density stratification are designed to reduce the error. Two of them are for diagnostic calculation (density field is fixed), and the others are for prognostic calculation (density field is not fixed). The results show that the errors from these schemes all significantly decrease. 展开更多

Exploring structural characteristics implied in initialdecision making information is an important issue in the process of aggregation. In this paper we provide a new family of aggregation operator called density weighted averaging operator(abbreviated as DWA operator), which carries out the aggregation by classification. In this case, not only the hidden structural characteristics can be identified, some commonly known aggregation operators can also be incorporated into the function of the DWA operator. We further discuss the basic properties of this new operator, such as commutativity, idempotency, boundedness and monotonicity withcertain condition. Afterwards, two important issues related to the DWA operator are investigated, including the arguments partition and the determination of density weights. At last a numerical example regarding performance evaluation of employees is developed to illustrate the using of this new operator. 展开更多

An atmospheric-pressure argon plasma jet with screw ring-ring electrodes in surface dielectric barrier discharge is generated by a sinusoidal excitation voltage at 8 kHz. The discharge characteristics, such as rotational and vibrational temperature of nitrogen, electronic excitation temperature, oxygen atomic density, nitrogen molecular density, and average electron density, are estimated. It is found that the rotational temperature of nitrogen is in the range of 352 ~ 392 K by comparing the simulated spectrum with the measured spectrum at the C3Πu → B3Πg (△ν = 2) band transition, the electronic excitation temperature is found to be in the range of 3127 ~ 3230 K by using the Boltzmann plot method, the oxygen atomic and nitrogen molecular density are of the order of magnitude of 1016 cm-3 by the actinometry method, and the average electron density is of the order of magnitude of 1012 cm-3 by the energy balance equation. Besides, the effective power, conduction, and displacement current are measured during the discharge. 展开更多

In order to calculate the stress intensity factor(SIF) of crack tips in two-dimensional cracks from the viewpoint of strain energy density, a procedure to use the strain energy density factor to calculate the SIF is proposed. In this paper, the procedure is presented to calculate the SIF of crack tips in mode I cracks, mode II cracks and I+II mixed mode cracks. Meanwhile, the results are compared to those calculated by traditional approaches or other approaches based on strain energy density and verified by theoretical solutions. Furthermore, the effect of mesh density near the crack tip is discussed, and the proper location where the strain energy density factor is calculated is also studied. The results show that the SIF calculated by this procedure is close to not only those calculated by other approaches but also the theoretical solutions, thus it is capable of achieving accurate results.Besides, the mesh density around the crack tip should meet such requirements that, in the circular area created, the first layer of singular elements should have a radius about 0.05 mm and each element has a circumferential directional meshing angle to be15°–20°. Furthermore, for a single element around the crack tip, the strain energy density factor is suggested to be calculated in the location where half of the sector element's radius from the crack tip. 展开更多

The development of the Internet of Things(IoT)and artificial intelligence has accompanied the evolution of energy demand and structure in the new era,and the power sources for billions of distributed electronics and sensors have aroused worldwide interest.As an alternative energy harvesting technology,triboelectric nanogenerators(TENGs)have received remarkable attention and have shown attractive potential applications for use in micro/nano power sources,self-powered sensors,highvoltage power sources,and blue energy due to their advantages of small size,light weight,flexibility,low cost,and high efficiency at low frequency.In this review,we discuss high-performance TENGs from the perspectives of triboelectric charge density,output voltage,energy density,and corresponding quantification methods.Among these topics,the limitations,optimization methods and techniques,and potential directions to challenge these limits are comprehensively discussed and reviewed.Finally,we discuss the emerging challenges,strategies,and opportunities for research and development of highperformance TENGs. 展开更多

In this paper, we consider the inference of a change point problem in single index models. Based on density-weighted average derivative estimation (ADE) method, we propose a statistic to test whether a change point exists or not. The null distribution of the test statistic is obtained using a permutation technique. The permuted statistic is rigorously shown to have the same distribution in the limiting sense under both null and alternative hypotheses. After the null hypothesis of no change point is rejected, an ADE-based estimate of the change point is proposed under assumption that the change point is unique. A simulation study confirms the theoretical results. 展开更多

Due to the importance of metal layers in the product yield,serpentine test structures are usually fabricated on test chips to extract parameters for yield prediction.In this paper,the confidence level and estimation precision of the average defect density on metal layers are investigated to minimize the randomness of experimental results and make the measured parameters more convincing.On the basis of the Poisson yield model,the method to determine the total area of all serpentine test structures is obtained using the law of large numbers and the Lindeberg-Levy theorem.Furthermore,the method to determine an adequate area of each serpentine test structure is proposed under a specific requirement of confidence level and estimation precision.The results of Monte Carlo simulation show that the proposed method is consistent with theoretical analyses.It is also revealed by wafer experimental results that the method of designing serpentine test structure proposed in this paper has better performance. 展开更多
