For the strongly nonlinear problems, the solution obtained in the iterative process is always difficult, even divergent due to the numerical instability. It can not fulfill the engineering requirements. Newton's method and its variants can not settle this problem. As a result, the application of numerical simulation for the strongly nonlinear problems is limited. An auto-adjustable damping method has been presented in this paper. This is a further improvement of Newton's method with damping factor. A set of vector of damping factor is introduced. This set of vector can be adjusted continuously during the iterative process in accordance with the judgement and adjustment. An effective convergence coefficient and quichening coefficient are employed to relax the restricted requirements for the initial values and to shorten the iterative process. Then, the numerical stability will be ensured for the solution of complicated strongly nonlinear equations. Using this method, some complicated strongly nonlinear heat transfer problems in airplanes and aeroengines have been numerically simulated successfully. It can be used for the numerical simulation of strongly nonlinear problems in engineering such as nonlinear hydrodynamics and aerodynamics, heat transfer and structural dynamic response etc.展开更多

The friction force is modeled as an equivalent distributed moment to use the finite element method (FEM) to calculate the dry friction vibration isolator hysteresis loop, so the damping characteristics can be obtained. In order to decrease the complexity of the problem, response surface method(RSM) was utilized to analyze and optimize the vibro-acoustic properties of the damping structure. A simple case was illustrated to demonstrate the capabilities of the developed procedure. A structure-born noise problem was approximated by a series of polynomials using RSM. Three main performances were considered, i.e. sound radiation power, first order modal frequency and total mass. The variabl...First arrival travel time tomography has achieved wide application. However, tomographic resolution is insufficient because geometry constraints cause rays to be unevenly distributed in the velocity model. The variable damping constraint method adopts uneven priori information to match uneven data distribution which can lessen the correlation between velocity correction values and ray coverage density. In this paper, we combine the variable damping constraint with a smoothness constraint which is added into the regularization equations in velocity inversion to avoid instability caused by only using the variable damping constraint method. The alpha-trimmed-mean filter is used to smooth and denoise intermediate results in the velocity inversion process. We use the LSQR algorithm to enhance the convergence rate and suppress error propagation in solving linear equations. In this paper, we apply the proposed tomographic method to perform velocity inversion using VSP data. The application in recovery test of the checkerboard model and velocity inversion of real VSP data show that the variable damping constraint method can improve tomographic quality because it can solve the effects of uneven ray coverage. In addition, the examples show that the tomographic result near geophones is much more reliable than other areas in the velocity model.展开更多

By minimizing an objective function such as an error term of the peak displacement of a structure, the two coefficients can be determined with response spectral analysis. The optimization method degenerates into the conventional method used in current practices when only two modes of vibration are included in the objective function. Therefore, the proposed method with all significant modes included for simplicity in practical applications results in suboptimal damping coefficients. The effects of both spatial distribution and frequency content of excitations as well as structural dynamic characteristics on the evaluation of Rayleigh damping coefficients were investigated with a five-story building structure. Two application examples with a 62-story high-rise building and a 840 m long cable-stayed bridge under ten earthquake excitations demonstrated the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method to account for all of the above effects.展开更多

The movable electrode was assumed to oscillate by an anharmonic elastic force originated from Murrell- Mottram or Lippincott potential. The nonlinear equations have been solved via the Adomian decomposition method. The behavior of the displacement of the electrode from equilibrium position, its velocity and acceleration were described versus time. Also, the changes of the displacement have been investigated according to the frequency of the external force and the voltage of the electrostatic force. The convergence of the Adomian method and the effect of the orders of expansion on the displacement versus time, frequency, and voltage were discussed. The pull-in parameter was obtained and compared with the other models in the literature. This parameter was described versus the equilibrium position and anharmonicity constant.展开更多

And, by using the OOPI method , it possesses much faster rate of convergence for solving systems of nonlinear equations produced by the DIAOB r,r+1 .

文摘The present study investigates the wavespace of Highly Contrasted Structures(HCS)and Highly Dissipative Structures(HDS)by wave-based models. The Asymptotic Homogenization Method(AHM),exploits the asymptotic Zig-Zag model and homogenization technique to compute the bending wavenumbers via a 6th-order equation. The General Laminate Model(GLM)employs Mindlin’s displacement field to establish displacement-constraint relationships and resolves a quadratic Eigenvalue Problem(EVP)of the dispersion relation. The Wave Finite Element(WFE)scheme formulates the Nonlinear Eigenvalue Problem(NEP)for waves in varying directions and tracks complex wavenumbers using Weighted Wave Assurance Criteria(WWAC).Two approaches are introduced to estimate the Damping Loss Factor(DLF)of HDS,with the average DLF calculated by the modal density at various angles where non-homogeneity is present.Evaluation of robustness and accuracy is made by comparing the wavenumbers and DLF obtained from AHM and GLM with WFE.WFE is finally extended to a sandwich metastructure with a non-homogeneous core, and the Power Input Method(PIM)with Finite Element Method(FEM)data is employed to assess the average DLF,demonstrating an enhanced DLF compared to layered configurations with the same material portion, indicating increased energy dissipation due to the bending-shear coupling effects.

文摘The dry friction ring-type vibration isolator is considered as an isotropic continuous medium. A method of dry friction hysteresis loop calculation is proposed based on friction force analysis of contact beam. The friction force is modeled as an equivalent distributed moment to use the finite element method (FEM) to calculate the dry friction vibration isolator hysteresis loop, so the damping characteristics can be obtained. A comparison of the hysteresis loop calculation results and the experimental results shows the average relative error is 2.7 %, it proves the calculation method is feasible.
文摘The methods of modifying dimension and shape of structure, or covering damping material are effective to reduce structure-borne noise, while these methods are based on the knowledge of qualitative and quantitative relationship between sound radiation and design parameters. Consequently, the response surface model not only gives the direction of design modification, it also leads to an optimal design of complex systems.

文摘First arrival travel time tomography has achieved wide application. In addition, the examples show that the tomographic result near geophones is much more reliable than other areas in the velocity model.

文摘An optimization method for the consistent evaluation of two Rayleigh damping coefficients is proposed. Two application examples with a 62-story high-rise building and a 840 m long cable-stayed bridge under ten earthquake excitations demonstrated the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method to account for all of the above effects.
文摘The distinct element method(DEM)has been used successfully for the dynamic analysis of rigid block sys- tems. One of many difficulties associated with DEM is modeling of damping. In this paper, new procedures are proposed for the damping modeling and its numerical implementation in distinct element analysis of rigid muhi-block systems. The stiff- ness proportional damping is constructed for the prescribed damping ratio, based on the non-zero fundamental frequency ef- fective during the time interval while the boundary conditions remain essentially constant. At this time interval, the funda- mental frequency can be estimated without complete eigenvalue analysis. The damping coefficients will vary while the damp- ing ratio remains the same throughout the entire analysis.A new numerical procedure is developed to prevent unnecessary energy loss that can occur during the separation phases. These procedures were implemented in the development of the dis- tinet element method for the dynamic analyses of piled multi-block systems. The analysis results |or the single-block and two-block systems were in a good agreement with the analytic predictions.Applications to the seismic analyses of piled four- block systems revealed that the new procedures can make a significant difference and may lead to much-improved results.

文摘To predict the maximum earthquake response of an SDOF structure with a Maxwell fluid damper or supplemental brace-viscous damper system using the seismic design response spectrum technique,a new approach is presented to determine the first-and second-order equivalent viscous damping and stiffness, the peak responses, and the damper force of the above structure.Based on the fact that the dynamic characteristics of a general linear viscoelastically damped structure are fully determined by its free vibration properties and the relaxation time constants of a Maxwell fluid damper and supplemental brace-viscous damper system in engineering practice are all small, the method of improved multiple time scales and the equivalent criterion in which all free vibration properties are the same are used to obtain the first-and second-order equivalent viscous damping and stiffness of the above structure in closed form. The accuracy of the proposed method is higher and significantly better than that of the modal strain energy method.Furthermore,in the parametric range of the requirements of the Chinese "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings",the error of the proposed second-order equivalent system for the abovementioned engineering structure is not more than 0.5%.
文摘We modeled a one-dimensional actuator including the Casimir and electrostatic forces perturbed by an external force with fractional damping. This parameter was described versus the equilibrium position and anharmonicity constant.
