Under the quadratic approximation of the Rytov's phase structure function, this paper derives the general closed-form expressions for the mean-squared width and the angular spread of partially coherent beams in turbulence. It finds that under a certain condition different types of partially coherent beams may have the same directionality as a fully coherent Gaussian beam in free space and also in atmospheric turbulence if the angular spread is chosen as the characteristic parameter of beam directionality. On the other hand, it shows that generally, the directionality of partially coherent beams expressed in terms of the angular spread is not consistent with that in terms of the normalized far-field average intensity distribution in free space, but the consistency can be achieved due to turbulence. 展开更多

Consider a uniform linear antenna (ULA) at the base station (BS) and narrowband signals transmitted at the mobile. In two types of propagating environments: indoor and outdoor, performance of low spatial correlation is investigated and some results are provided, which are significant to an,3. lyze the performance of diversity systems and configuration of army. The results also show that the configuration of array with either smaller angular spread or bigger angle of arrival (AOA) dominates the impact on spatial correlation, and that increasing angular spread or decreasing AOA diminishes, or even eliminates this impact. 展开更多

Array processing is to process the signals carried by the propagating waves received at an array of sensors. When the signals propagate through the practical random time-variant medium, their wavefronts can show the progressive losses of coherence with increasing spatial separation. These decorrelations of wavefronts result in an angular spread in the wavenumber spectrum centered about the true signal dircction-of-arrival. This paper puts the emphasis upon the array processing of the angular-spread signal which is called the Generalized Directional (GD) signal and aims to match array processing to this signal model in the energy sense. In this paper, we also present a method of the computer simulation of the generalized directional signal model. Some results of computer simulation experiments and lake-tests in Xinanjiang River are given. 展开更多

In this paper , the angular spread of the SAW beam diffracted by Bragg grating , denoted by δθ1 ,is analysed based on the equations of the deflection angle and the deflection effciency . A parameter δθB is defined to refer to ' Bragg angular spectrum width ' of the grating . The importance of this parameter in distinguishing the angular spread range of the deflected beam for different regimes is discussed as well. It is show from the analysis that if the spread angle of the incident beam labelled with δθinc is larger than the ' Bragg witdth of the angular spectrum ' of the grating , the spread angle δθ1 of the deflected beam will equal to δθB ; but if the angular divergence of the incident beam is less than δθB , then δθ1 =δθinc.Experimentally , four kinds of samples with different configurations are investigated by optical method , two of which operate in the regime of δθinc<<δθB and the others correspond to the case in the regime of δθinc >>δθB . The widths of the angular spread of the incident beam and the deflected beam are estimated by measuring the widths of their own acousto - optical diffraction points . It is demonstrated that the experimental results agree with the theoretical results approximately . 展开更多
