Two Al2O3/Cu composites containing 0.24 wt.% Al2O3 and 0.60 wt.% Al2O3 separately are prepared by internal oxidation. Effects of sliding speed and pressure on the frictional characteristics of the composites and copper against brass are investigated and compared. The changes in morphology of the sliding surface and subsurface are examined with scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrum (EDS). The results show that the wear resistance of the Al2O3/Cu composites is superior to that of copper under the same conditions, Under a given electrical current, the wear rate of Al2O3/Cu composites decreases as the Al2O3-content increases, However, the wear rates of the Al2O3/Cu composites and copper increase as the sliding speed and pressure increase under dry sliding condition. The main wear mechanisms for Al2O3/Cu composites are of abrasion and adhesion; for copper, it is adhesion, although wear by oxidation and electrical erosion can also be observed as the speed and pressure rise. 展开更多

(TiB2+Al2O3)/NiAl composites were synthesized by self-propagation high-temperature synthesis, and their phase compositions, microstructures and evolution modes were studied. The microstructures and shapes vary with the TiB2+Al2O3 content in the NiAl matrix. TiB2 particles take a great variety of elementary shapes such as white bars, plates, herringbones, regular cubes and cuboids. These results outline a strategy of self-assembly processes in real time to build diversified microstructures. Some TiB2 grains in sizes of 2-5μm are embeded in Al2O3 clusters, while a small number of TiB2 particles disperse in the NiAl matrix. It is believed that the higher the TiB2+Al2O3 content is, the more the regular shapes and homogeneous distributions of TiB2 and Al2O3 will be present in the NiAl matrix. 展开更多

The deformation behaviors of Al2O3/Al composites were investigated by compressive tests conducted at temperature of 300-450 °C and strain rates of 0.001-1.0 s-1 with Gleeble-1500 D thermal simulator system. The results show that the flow stress increases with increasing strain rate and decreasing temperature. The hyperbolic sine constitutive equation can describe the flow stress behavior of Al2O3/Al composites, and the deformation activation energy and constitutive equations were calculated. The processing maps of Al2O3/Al-2 μm and Al2O3/Al-1 μm composites at strain of 0.6 were obtained and the optimum processing domains are in ranges of 300-330 °C, 0.007-0.03 s-1 and 335-360 °C, 0.015-0.06 s-1 for hot working, respectively. The instability zones of flow behavior can also be recognized by the maps. 展开更多

The coating was compact and comprised of nano-laminated Al2O3 and Au layers. High temperature cyclic oxidation test was employed to investigate the oxidation resistance of the composite coatings. The results revealed that the applied Al2O3/Au nano-laminated composite coatings improved the oxidation and spallation resistance of the stainless steel substrate significantly. The mechanism accounting for oxidation resistance was related with the suppression of inward oxygen diffusion and selective oxidation of Cr in the substrate. The mechanism accounting for spallation resistance was attributed to the relaxation of thermal stress by the nano-laminated structure. 展开更多

Al2O3p-Al composites were synthesized using an in-situ reaction in the 80%Al-20%CuO (mass fraction) system. The effects of the CuO particle size on the synthesis temperature and microstructure of the composites were investigated by various methods. The results indicate that the CuO particle size has a significant effect on the temperature at which the complete reaction in the Al-CuO system occurs:the temperature is 200 ℃ lower in the Al-CuO system containing CuO particles with sizes less than 6μm than that containing CuO particles with sizes less than 100μm. The interfacial bonding between Al2O3 particles and Al is not complete when the temperature is below a critical value. The morphology of the Al2O3 particles varies from ribbon-like shape to near spherical shape when the temperature is above a critical value. These two critical temperatures are affected by the particle size of CuO, and the critical temperature of the sample containing CuO particles with sizes less than 6μm is 100 ℃ lower than that of the sample containing CuO particles with sizes less than 100μm. 展开更多

The Al2O3-ZrO2(3Y)-SiC composite ceramics used in solar thermal power were prepared by micrometric Al2O3,nano-ZrO2 and SiC powders under the condition of pressureless sintering.The bulk density and bending strength of samples with 10vol% nano-ZrO2 sintered at 1480℃ were 3.222 g/cm3 and 160.4MPa,respectively.The bending strength of samples after 7 times thermal shock tests (quenching from 1000℃ to 25℃ in air medium) is 132.0MPa,loss rate of bending strength is only 17%.The effect of nano-ZrO2 content on the microstructure and performance of Al2O3-ZrO2(3Y)-SiC composite ceramic was investigated.The experimental results show that the bending strength of samples with above 10vol% nano-ZrO2 content has decreased,because the volume expansion resulting from t-ZrO2 to m-ZrO2 phase transformation is excessive;Adding proper nano-ZrO2 would be contributed to improve the thermal shock resistance of the composite ceramics.The Al2O3-ZrO2(3Y)-SiC composite ceramic has promising potential application in solar thermal power. 展开更多

The surface nanoscale topography and microstructure of membranes were investiga ted by XRD,SEM,AFM,EPMA. A novel technique combining electrophoretic deposition (EPD) and reaction bonding process (RBP) is developed to fabricate thick ZrO2/Al2O3 composite coatings. Mixed organic solvents are used here to make suspension containing yttria stablised zirconia (YSZ) and aluminium (Al). The results show that densely packed green form coatings are deposited using a mixture of ethanol and acetylacetone as suspension medium and ball milling for 48 hours. On subsequent heat treatment, melting and oxidation of aluminium in the green forms promote densification during sintering. By these means, thick, uniform and crack-free ZrtVA^Oa composite coatings have been fabricated on metal substrate. 展开更多

Manufacture and characteristics of Al2O3 composite coating on steel substrate by SHS process 被引量:8

Many steel components are needed to be reinforced on their surface to have a high abrasive resistance and corrosion resistance. Based on self-propagating hightemperature synthesis, a process to making Al2O3 composite coatings on mild steel substrate in atmospheric environment with the help of simple auxiliary facilities was developed successfully. A pre-coated bilayer coating was employed. The effects of Fe content in pre-coated transition layer on phase composition, porosity and interfacial bon ding were studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive spectrum (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The thermal shock resistance and abrasive resistance were investigated. When Fe content changes from 0 wt% to 50 wt%, the bond quality at first becomes better and then worse gradually. When Fe content is less 20 wt%, there is a small gap between the transition layer and the substrate;when Fe contents are 30 wt% and 40 wt%, working layer, the transition layer and the substrate bond together well. The working layer is mainly composed of Al2O3, Fe-Cr and Al(Cr)2O3 phases and has a dense structure with porosity of less than 1 %. The coating has a good thermal shock resistance and abrasive resistance. The abrasive resistance of the working layer is about ten times that of the substrate. 展开更多

采用共沉淀法,制备了纤维状CD501甲醇合成催化剂,采用SEM、TEM、XRD和BET等手段对催化剂进行了表征;并将其进一步和γ-Al2O3进行混合,获得了Cu/ZnO/Al2O3/ZrO2+γ-Al2O3双功能催化剂,考察了其在浆态床中一步法合成二甲醚过程的催化特性... 采用共沉淀法,制备了纤维状CD501甲醇合成催化剂,采用SEM、TEM、XRD和BET等手段对催化剂进行了表征;并将其进一步和γ-Al2O3进行混合,获得了Cu/ZnO/Al2O3/ZrO2+γ-Al2O3双功能催化剂,考察了其在浆态床中一步法合成二甲醚过程的催化特性。结果表明,相比商业催化剂(COM)和LP201催化剂,新型的CD501催化剂具有更大的比表面积和Cu/Zn分散性。对于浆态床中一步法合成二甲醚过程,采用CD501与γ-Al2O3双功能催化剂,相比采用COM或LP201与γ-Al2O3双功能催化剂,CO转化率提高了一倍,且经过270 h测试,CO转化率从61%降至57%,二甲醚时空产率从0.54 g/(g.h)降至0.48 g/(g.h),稳定性显著优于COM催化剂。当反应温度为250℃,压力为4.0 MPa,空速为3 000 mL/(g.h),氢碳比为1.0时,该催化剂应用在浆态床一步法合成二甲醚时,CO转化率为61%,DME时空产率达到0.54 g/(g.h)。 展开更多

The effect of TiC and Al2O3 starting particle size on the mechanical properties of the composites was discussed. Indentation-quench test was conducted to evaluate the effect of thermal fatigue temperature difference (ΔT) and number of thermal cycles (Ⅳ) on fatigue crack growth (Δa). The mechanical properties and thermal fatigue resistance of TiC/Al203 composites are remarkably improved by the addition of TiC. The thermal shock fatigue of monolithic alumina and TiC/Al2O3 composites is due to a "true" cycling effect (thermal fatigue). Crack deflection and bridging are the predominant reasons for the improvement of thermal shock fatigue resistance of the composites. 展开更多

In situ Al2O3 whiskers reinforced Ti-Al intermetallic composites were fabricated at ~1200℃ by reaction sintering of cold-consolidated fillets consisting mainly of Ti, Al, and different additives. The phases and microstructures of the sintered composites were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The process of synthesis was investigated using differential thermal analysis (DTA). The effects of processing parameters and additives on the microstructures of the composites and the development of whisker were examined. It is found that the morphology of the whisker is strongly influenced by the additives, the exothermal reaction process, and the processing parameters. 展开更多

用Al(NO3)3和ZrO(NO3)2混合溶液,加氨水共沉淀制备了一系列Al2O3含量由低到高的ZrO2-Al2O3复合氧化物,用XRD、XPS、BET等实验手段对其进行了表征.结果表明,随着一种组分含量由低到高,其主要存在形式按形成固溶体-表面单层分散-析出单独... 用Al(NO3)3和ZrO(NO3)2混合溶液,加氨水共沉淀制备了一系列Al2O3含量由低到高的ZrO2-Al2O3复合氧化物,用XRD、XPS、BET等实验手段对其进行了表征.结果表明,随着一种组分含量由低到高,其主要存在形式按形成固溶体-表面单层分散-析出单独晶相的规律变化,而一种组分的加入均使另一种组分的XRD衍射峰明显宽化,晶粒变细;复合氧化物的比表面明显大于两种组分纯样品比表面的简单加和.实验表明体系中两种组分存在相互表面单层分散,即在一定的相对含量范围内,该体系的任一组分的微晶固溶体都既接受另一组分在其表面上的单层分散,同时也在另一组分的微晶固溶体表面上单层分散.相互单层分散和固溶体的生成都可能使高温焙烧时微晶的增大受到抑制,从而维持了样品的高比表面. 展开更多
