The Review Study: The Effect of Task-based Approach on the Advanced EFL Learners' Narrative vs. Expository Writing

This study was an attempt to determine the effect of task-based approach vs. traditional approach on the narrative and expository writing of the EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners. This study also tried to see if there is any difference between the narrative and expository writing of the advanced EFL learners' when the task-based approach is the instruction of methodology. It was concluded that teaching writing to EFL learners through task-based approach is more effective than teaching writing to the advanced EFL learners traditionally. But, it was found that task-based approach is not biased toward one of the two narratives vs. expository writing modes. For EFL contexts in many countries, there is a strong need for learners to develop their EFL writing ability. 展开更多

The rise of the“Ten Scenes”十景poems and lyrics in the late Song Dynasty marked the solidification of the landscape writing modes in West Lake poetry.Earlier,the exemplary writings of Bai Juyi白居易,Su Shi苏轼,and Yang Wanli杨万里on West Lake landscapes had already formed three distinct modes:Bai Juyi's poetry is characterized primarily by a Panoramic Mode,Su Shi's by a Poetic-Subject Mode,while Yang Wanli further developed the Landscape-Focus Mode,establishing a Lake-Surface Mode.These modes provided models and methodological pathways for the later"Ten Scenes"poems and lyrics.The developmental history of West Lake poetry during the Tang and Song dynasties reveals the complex interactions among power,customs,landscape,and literature. 展开更多
