The physical model based on heat transfer theory and virtual boundary method for analyzing unsteady thermal field of rotor plate for eddy current retarder used in automobile is established and boundary conditions are also defined. The finite element governing equation is derived by Galerkin method. The time differential item is discrete based on Galerkin format that is stable at any condition. And a new style of varying time step method is used in iteration process. The thermal field on the rotor plate at the radial and axle directions is analyzed and varying temperature at appointed points on two side-surfaces is measured. The testing and analytical data are uniform approximately. Finite element method can be used for estimating thermal field of the rotor plate at initial design stage of eddy current retarder. 展开更多

The non-linear dynamic behaviors of thermoelastic circular plate with varying thickness subjected to radially uniformly distributed follower forces are considered. Two coupled non-linear differential equations of motion for this problem are derived in terms of the transverse deflection and radial displacement component of the mid-plane of the plate. Using the Kantorovich averaging method, the differential equation of mode shape of the plate is derived, and the eigenvalue problem is solved by using shooting method. The eigencurves for frequencies and critical loads of the circular plate with unmovable simply supported edge and clamped edge are obtained. The effects of the variation of thickness and temperature on the frequencies and critical loads of the thermoelastic circular plate subjected to radially uniformly distributed follower forces are then discussed. 展开更多

This paper presents a robust adaptive state feedback control scheme for a class of parametric-strict-feedback nonlinear systems in the presence of time varying actuator failures. The designed adaptive controller compensates a general class of actuator failures without any need for explicit fault detection. The parameters, times, and patterns of the considered failures are completely unknown. The proposed controller is constructed based on a backstepping design method. The global boundedness of all the closed-loop signals is guaranteed and the tracking error is proved to converge to a small neighborhood of the origin. The proposed approach is employed for a two-axis positioning stage system as well as an aircraft wing system. The simulation results show the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed robust adaptive actuator failure compensation approach. 展开更多

Owing to the interactions among the complex terrain, bottom materials, and the complicate hydrodynam-ics, typhoon waves show special characteristics as big waves appeared at the high water level (HWL) and small waves emerged at low and middle water levels (LWL and MWL) in radial sand ridges (RSR). It is as-sumed that the mud damping, sandy bed friction and wave breaking effects have a great influence on the typhoon wave propagation in this area. Under the low wave energy, a mud layer will form and transport into the shallow area, thus the mud damping effects dominate at the LWL and the MWL. And high Collins coef-ficient (c around 1) can be applied to computing the damping effects at the LWL and the MWL. But under the high wave energy, the bottom sediment will be stirred and suspended, and then the damping effects disappear at the HWL. Thus the varying Collins coefficient with the water level method (VCWL) is imple-mented into the SWAN to model the typhoon wave process in the Lanshayang Channel (LSYC) of the RSR, the observed wave data under “Winnie” (“9711”) typhoon was used as validation. The results show that the typhoon wave in the RSR area is able to be simulated by the VCWL method concisely, and a constant wave breaking coefficient (γ) equaling 0.78 is better for the RSR where wide tidal flats and gentle bed slopes exist. 展开更多

Existing far field expressions of second order potentials are by no means complete.Hence there has been no exact far field expression of second order potentials. In this paper the far field expression for Φ_d^((2)) is purposely avoided in deducing the formulae of second order forces and a series of functions Φ_(dRn)^((?)) are used. The far field expression of is given, which for (x,U,z)∈Σ,φ_(dRn)^((2))(?) φ_d^((2)).Using these properties formulae for calculating second order diffraction forces are obtained. To calculate the integral ∫∫_(?)1/g f_(?)Ψ_(?)ds it is divided into two parts. One is the integral over a finite domain and the function under the integral is continuous,so the usual approximate integration formulae may be used. The other is the integral over an infinite domain.Using the far field expression of first order potentials, formulae for calculating the integral to meet given accuracies are given. The mooring force in surge direction is used for comparison between numerical predictions and experimental measurements. The predicted results are checked against the measured value in a specially designed test.In the low frequency domain of interest, the mooring forces in surge, for calculated and experimental spectra are in good consistency so long as the damping coefficients is choosen appropriately. 展开更多

In this paper we investigate the robust estimation of generalized varying coefficient models in which the unknown regression coefficients may change with different explanatory variables. Based on the B-spline series approximation and Walsh-average technique we develop an initial estimator for the unknown regression coefficient functions. By virtue of the initial estimator, the generalized varying coefficient model is reduced to a univariate nonparametric regression model. Then combining the local linear smooth and Walsh average technique we further propose a two-stage local linear Walsh-average estimator for the unknown regression coefficient functions. Under mild assumptions, we establish the large sample theory of the proposed estimators by utilizing the results of U-statistics and shows that the two-stage local linear Walsh-average estimator own an oracle property, namely the asymptotic normality of the two-stage local linear Walsh-average estimator of each coefficient function is not affected by other unknown coefficient functions. Extensive simulation studies are conducted to assess the finite sample performance, and a real example is analyzed to illustrate the proposed method. 展开更多
