A simplified adsorption model for water vapor adsorption on activated carbon 被引量:2

A simplified model was developed to describe the water vapor adsorption on activated carbon. The development of the simplified model was started from the original model proposed by DO and his co-workers. Two different kinds of carbon materials were prepared for water vapor adsorption, and the adsorption experiments were conducted at different temperatures(20-50 °C) and relative humidities(5%-99%) to test the model. It is shown that the amount of adsorbed water vapor in micropore decreases with the temperature increasing, and the water molecules form larger water clusters around the functional group as the temperature is up to a higher value. The simplified model describes reasonably well for all the experimental data. According to the fitted values, the parameters of simplified model were represented by the temperature and then the model was used to calculate the water vapor adsorption amount at 25 °C and 35 °C. The results show that the model can get relatively accurate values to calculate the water vapor adsorption on activated carbon. 展开更多

In ground-based GPS meteorology, Tm is a key parameter to calculate the conversion factor that can convert the zenith wet delay(ZWD) to precipitable water vapor(PWV). It is generally acknowledged that Tm is in an approximate linear relationship with surface temperature Ts, and the relationship presents regional variation. This paper employed sliding average method to calculate correlation coefficients and linear regression coefficients between Tm and Ts at every 2°× 2.5° grid point using Ts data from European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts(ECMWF) and Tm data from "GGOS Atmosphere", yielding the grid and bilinear interpolation-based Tm Grid model. Tested by Tm and Ts grid data, Constellation Observation System of Meteorology, Ionosphere, and Climate(COSMIC) data and radiosonde data, the Tm Grid model shows a higher accuracy relative to the Bevis Tm-Ts relationship which is widely used nowadays. The Tm Grid model will be of certain practical value in high-precision PWV calculation. 展开更多

The present study investigated the vaporization kinetics of MgCl_2,CaCl_2 and their binary melts in a fluidized bed at1073-1273 K,and developed a vaporization model for the binary melts to explore the possibility of achieving enhanced vaporization rate for the feedstock containing CaO greater than 0.2 wt%.The vaporization rate constant of MgCl_2 is more than seven times than that of CaCl_2 at 1273 K.The vaporization rate of the binary melt was significantly affected by the composition,a small quantity of CaCl_2 can remarkably deteriorate the overall vaporization rate.Experimental results coincide well with the numerical simulation by the vaporization model which regards the evolution of vaporization rate with melts composition.A correlation between the necessary operation temperature and the CaO/(CaO + MgO) of the feedstock was proposed.Predictions reveal that a similar vaporization rate for 0.2 wt%-0.4 wt%CaO content feedstock with 0.2 wt%could be achieved at lower than 1365 K. 展开更多

The study deals with modeling the vapor pressures of(solvent + salt) systems depending on the linear solvation energy relation(LSER) principles. The LSER-based vapor pressure model clarifies the simultaneous impact of the vapor pressure of a pure solvent estimated by the Xiang-Tan equation, the solubility and solvatochromic parameters of the solvent and the physical properties of the ionic salt. It has been performed independently two structural forms of the generalized solvation model, i.e. the unified solvation model with the integrated properties(USMIP) containing nine physical descriptors and the reduced property-basis solvation model. The vapor pressure data of fourteen(solvent + salt) systems have been processed to analyze statistically the reliability of existing models in terms of a log-ratio objective function. The proposed vapor pressure approaches reproduce the observed performance relatively accurately, yielding the overall design factors of 1.0643 and1.0702 for the integrated property-basis and reduced property-basis solvation models. 展开更多

An increasing number of studies demonstrated that alcohol vapor chamber is an effective way to model physical signs of alcohol use disorders. Although researchers are developing different vapor chambers to study chronic alcohol exposure model worldwide, few studies build and modify their own vapor chambers in China.Here, we designed and established an alcohol vapor chamber system for small animals. We described a paradigm showing how to control and monitor alcohol concentration in whole system. The vapor chamber system with several advantages including accommodating up to ten standard mouse cages. Furthermore, the system was tested by evaluating the blood alcohol concentration and neuron injury in mice. Importantly, the alcohol withdrawal after vapor exposure caused motor coordination impairment, anxiolytic-and depression-like behavior. Finally, the Nmethyl-D-aspartate receptor(NMDAR)-mediated glutamatergic transmissions in the medial prefrontal cortex was changed after alcohol vapor exposure-induced behaviors. The frequency and amplitude of spontaneous excitatory postsynaptic currents between control and alcohol groups were not different, suggesting that alcohol exposureinduced behaviors are associated with the change in NMDAR response. Taken together, the new alcohol vapor chamber system was constructed, which would help to research the relationship between the stable alcohol exposure and withdrawal behaviors and to study chronic alcohol exposure-induced disorders in China. 展开更多

Low-frequency variability of terrestrial water budget in China using GRACE satellite measurements from 2003 to 2010 被引量:1

Mass variations in terrestrial water storage(TWS) obtained from eight years of satellite data from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE) are used to describe low frequency TWS through Empirical Orthogonal Function(EOF) analysis. Results of the second seasonal EOF mode show the influence of the Meiyu season. Annual variability is clearly shown in the precipitation distribution over China, and two new patterns of interannual variability are presented for the first time from observations, where two periods of abrupt acceleration are seen in 2004 and 2008. GRACE successfully measures drought events in southern China, and in this respect, an association with the Arctic Oscillation and El Nino-Southern Oscillation is discussed. This study demonstrates the unique potential of satellite gravity measurements in monitoring TWS variations and large-scale severe drought in China. 展开更多

Critical assessment of R410A alternatives for mini-split air conditioners in the Egyptian market

In this study,the potential implementation of three different low-GWP refrigerants(R32,R452B,and R454B)as replacements for R410A was investigated.The study was performed using a simulation tool developed by the authors called RACHP-Lab,which is a vapor compression system simulation tool developed based on physics-based simulation for typical mini-split air conditioners.The simulation study was carried out and validated using experimental performance data of 10 different air conditioning units available in the Egyptian market.The units included fixed-speed or variable-speed compressors and operated in cooling or heating modes.Drop-in replace-ment with the new refrigerants was carried out.For R32,the capacity increased between 4.9%and 13%for cooling cases,and 6.3%and 12.4%for heating cases.However,COP did not improve in all cases.For R452B and R454B with direct replacement,the capacity nearly remained the same,with an increase of COP between 1.6%and 8.0%.Soft optimization was also conducted on cooling cases where compressor suction superheat,condenser subcooling,and compressor volumetric speed were optimized to maximize COP while maintaining the original capacity of R410A.R32 showed an improvement of COP over R410A between 4.6%and 15.5%,while for R452B and R454B between 2.2%and 13.2%. 展开更多
