Road pavements in tunnels are usually made of asphalt mixtures,which,unfortunately,are flammable materials.Hence,this type of pavement could release heat,and more specifically smoke,in the event of a tunnel fire,there...Road pavements in tunnels are usually made of asphalt mixtures,which,unfortunately,are flammable materials.Hence,this type of pavement could release heat,and more specifically smoke,in the event of a tunnel fire,thereby worsening the environmental conditions for human health.Extensive research has been conducted in recent years to enhance the fire reaction of traditional asphalt mixtures for the road pavements used in tunnels.The addition of the Flame Retardants(FRs)in conventional asphalt mixtures appears to be promising.Nevertheless,the potential effects of the FRs in terms of the reduction in consequences on tunnel users in the event of a large fire do not seem to have been sufficiently investigated by using fluid dynamics analysis as a computational tool.Given this gap of knowledge,this article aims to quantitatively evaluate whether the use of flame-retarded asphalt mixtures,as opposed to traditional ones without FRs,might mitigate the adverse effects on the safety of evacuees and fire brigade by performing numerical analyses in the case of a tunnel fire.To achieve this goal,3D Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)models,which were executed using the Fire Dynamics Simulator(FDS)tool,were established in the case of a major fire of a Heavy Goods Vehicle(HGV)characterized by a maximum Heat Release Rate(HRRmax)of 100 MW.The people evacuation process was also simulated,and the Evac tool was used.Compared to the traditional asphalt pavements without FRs,the simulation findings indicated that the addition of the FRs causes a reduction in CO and CO_(2)levels in the tunnel during the aforementioned fire,with a minor number of evacuees being exposed to the risk of incapacity to self-evacuate,as well as certain safety benefits for the operability of the firefighters entering the tunnel downstream of the fire when the tunnel is naturally ventilated.展开更多

And it generates the dynamic link library which has the same execution efficiency as that of the included model of RTDS. This paper takes the IEEE type EXST1 static excitation system as an example to build the user-defined component. The closed-loop tests on the user-defined component and the included one of RTDS are performed to examine the accuracy of the proposed method. By comparison, the test results show that the external characteristics of the user-defined component and the included model of RTDS are basically the same in the initialization process, the step process of the terminal voltage reference value and the case of the large disturbance.展开更多

Instead of focusing on the user traffic for web pages, we capture the user interaction at the object level of the web pa...In this paper, we present a novel approach to model user request patterns in the World Wide Web. Instead of focusing on the user traffic for web pages, we capture the user interaction at the object level of the web pages. Our framework model consists of three sub-models: one for user file access, one for web pages, and one for storage servers. Web pages are assumed to consist of different types and sizes of objects, which are characterized using several categories: articles, media, and mosaics. The model is implemented with a discrete event simulation and then used to investigate the performance of our system over a variety of parameters in our model. Our performance measure of choice is mean response time and by varying the composition of web pages through our categories, we find that our framework model is able to capture a wide range of conditions that serve as a basis for generating a variety of user request patterns. In addition, we are able to establish a set of parameters that can be used as base cases. One of the goals of this research is for the framework model to be general enough that the parameters can be varied such that it can serve as input for investigating other distributed applications that require the generation of user request access patterns.展开更多

As a result, many researchers have relied on so...The metaheuristics algorithm is increasingly important in solving many kinds of real-life optimization problems but the implementation involves programming difficulties. As a result, many researchers have relied on software framework to accelerate the development life cycle. However, the available software frameworks were mostly designed for rapid development rather than flexible programming. Therefore, in order to extend software functions, this approach involves modifying software libraries which requires the programmers to have in-depth understanding about the internal working structure of software and the programming language. Besides, it has restricted programmers for implementing flexible user-defined low-level hybridization. This paper presents the concepts and formal definition of metaheuristics and its low-level hybridization. In addition, the weaknesses of current programming approaches supported by available software frameworks for metaheuristics are discussed. Responding to the deficiencies, this paper introduces a rapid and flexible software framework with scripting language environment. This approach is more flexible for programmers to create a variety of user-defined low-level hybridization rather than bounded with built-in metaheuristics strategy in software libraries.展开更多

First, proof is given for the existence of derivatives of output variables with respect to the perturbation parameters for the SUEED model. Then by taking advantage of the gradient-based method for sensitivity analysis of a general nonlinear program, detailed formulae are developed for calculating the derivatives of designed variables with respect to perturbation parameters at the equilibrium state of the SUEED model. This method is not only applicable for a sensitivity analysis of the logit-type SUEED problem, but also for the probit-type SUEED problem. The application of the proposed method in a numerical example shows that the proposed method can be used to approximate the equilibrium link flow solutions for both logit-type SUEED and probit-type SUEED problems when small perturbations are introduced in the input parameters.展开更多

More specifically, it first uses a personalized user interest representation model to infer user interest from queries in the user＇s history data using a topic model; then it presents a personalized user interest prediction model to capture the dynamic changes of user interest and to predict future user interest by leveraging the query submission time in the history data. Thus, it rema...Current public-opinion propagation research usually focused on closed network topologies without considering the fluctuation of the number of network users or the impact of social factors on propagation. Thus, it remains difficult to accurately describe the public-opinion propagation rules of social networks. In order to study the rules of public opinion spread on dynamic social networks, by analyzing the activity of social-network users and the regulatory role of relevant departments in the spread of public opinion, concepts of additional user and offline rates are introduced, and the direct immune-susceptible, contacted, infected, and refractory (DI-SCIR) public-opinion propagation model based on real-time online users is established. The interventional force of relevant departments, credibility of real information, and time of intervention are considered, and a public-opinion propagation control strategy based on direct immunity is proposed. The equilibrium point and the basic reproduction number of the model are theoretically analyzed to obtain boundary conditions for public-opinion propagation. Simulation results show that the new model can accurately reflect the propagation rules of public opinion. When the basic reproduction number is less than 1, public opinion will eventually disappear in the network. Social factors can significantly influence the time and scope of public opinion spread on social networks. By controlling social factors, relevant departments can analyze the rules of public opinion spread on social networks to suppress the propagate of negative public opinion and provide a powerful tool to ensure security and stability of society.展开更多

In this paper, we analyze the interaction in detail, and propose a general mathematical interac tion model to formulate the challenge pertain ing to storage resource allocation as an opti mization problem, focusing on minimizing both the user＇s cost and server＇s consumption. A potential response mechanism is then de signed based on the interaction model. Fur thermore, the proposed model is used to ex plore strategies when multiple users access the same file simultaneously. In this paper, a mixed stochastic user equilibrium model was proposed to describe the interactive route choice behaviors between ATIS equipped and unequipped drivers on a degradable transport network. In the proposed model the information accessibility of equipped drivers was reflected by lower degree of uncertainty in their stochastic equilibrium flow distributions, and their behavioral adaptability was captured by multiple equilibrium behaviors over the stochastic network state set. The mixed equilibrium model was formulated as a fixed point problem defined in the mixed route flows, and its solution was achieved by executing an iterative algorithm. Numerical experiments were provided to verify the properties of the mixed network equilibrium model and the efficiency of the iterative algorithm.展开更多

In some sense, specific interests correspond to shortterm interests, while general interests correspond to longterm interests. So this representation more really reflects the users＇ interests. The algorithm can automatically model a us er＇s multiple interest domains, dynamically generate the in terest models and prune a user interest tree when the number of the nodes in it exceeds given value. This study explored user satisfaction with mobile payments by applying a novel structural topic model.Specifically,we collected 17,927 online reviews of a specific mobile payment(i.e.,PayPal).Then,we employed a struct...This study explored user satisfaction with mobile payments by applying a novel structural topic model.Specifically,we collected 17,927 online reviews of a specific mobile payment(i.e.,PayPal).Then,we employed a structural topic model to investigate the relationship between the attributes extracted from online reviews and user satisfaction with mobile payment.Consequently,we discovered that“lack of reliability”and“poor customer service”tend to appear in negative reviews.Whereas,the terms“convenience,”“user-friendly interface,”“simple process,”and“secure system”tend to appear in positive reviews.On the basis of information system success theory,we categorized the topics“convenience,”“user-friendly interface,”and“simple process,”as system quality.In addition,“poor customer service”was categorized as service quality.Furthermore,based on the previous studies of trust and security,“lack of reliability”and“secure system”were categorized as trust and security,respectively.These outcomes indicate that users are satisfied when they perceive that system quality and security of specific mobile payments are great.On the contrary,users are dissatisfied when they feel that service quality and reliability of specific mobile payments is lacking.Overall,our research implies that a novel structural topic model is an effective method to explore mobile payment user experience.展开更多

文摘A new method to evaluate fuzzily user＇s relevance on the basis of cloud models has been proposed. All factors of personalized information retrieval system are taken into account in this method. So using this method for personalized information retrieval （PIR） system can efficiently judge multi-value relevance, such as quite relevant, comparatively relevant, commonly relevant, basically relevant and completely non-relevant, and realize a kind of transform of qualitative concepts and quantity and improve accuracy of relevance judgements in PIR system. Experimental data showed that the method is practical and valid. Evaluation results are more accurate and approach to the fact better.

文摘Current public-opinion propagation research usually focused on closed network topologies without considering the fluctuation of the number of network users or the impact of social factors on propagation. Thus, it remains difficult to accurately describe the public-opinion propagation rules of social networks. In order to study the rules of public opinion spread on dynamic social networks, by analyzing the activity of social-network users and the regulatory role of relevant departments in the spread of public opinion, concepts of additional user and offline rates are introduced, and the direct immune-susceptible, contacted, infected, and refractory (DI-SCIR) public-opinion propagation model based on real-time online users is established. The interventional force of relevant departments, credibility of real information, and time of intervention are considered, and a public-opinion propagation control strategy based on direct immunity is proposed. The equilibrium point and the basic reproduction number of the model are theoretically analyzed to obtain boundary conditions for public-opinion propagation. Simulation results show that the new model can accurately reflect the propagation rules of public opinion. When the basic reproduction number is less than 1, public opinion will eventually disappear in the network. Social factors can significantly influence the time and scope of public opinion spread on social networks. By controlling social factors, relevant departments can analyze the rules of public opinion spread on social networks to suppress the propagate of negative public opinion and provide a powerful tool to ensure security and stability of society.

文摘With the increasing popularity of cloud computing, there is an increased de mand for cloud resources in cloud. It has be come even more urgent to find solutions to improve resource utilization. From the per spective of a cloud consumer, a cloud applica tion processes a large information flow in volving user actions that access resources, but little work has so far been devoted to research from the perspective of the interaction be tween the user and the cloud application. In this paper, we analyze the interaction in detail, and propose a general mathematical interac tion model to formulate the challenge pertain ing to storage resource allocation as an opti mization problem, focusing on minimizing both the user＇s cost and server＇s consumption. A potential response mechanism is then de signed based on the interaction model. Fur thermore, the proposed model is used to ex plore strategies when multiple users access the same file simultaneously. Additionally, an improved queuing system, namely M/ G~ oo queue with standby, is introduced. Finally, an evaluation is presented to verify the interac- tion model.

文摘Advanced traveler information systems （ATIS） can not only improve drivers＇ accessibility to the more accurate route travel time information, but also can improve drivers＇ adaptability to the stochastic network capacity degradations. In this paper, a mixed stochastic user equilibrium model was proposed to describe the interactive route choice behaviors between ATIS equipped and unequipped drivers on a degradable transport network. In the proposed model the information accessibility of equipped drivers was reflected by lower degree of uncertainty in their stochastic equilibrium flow distributions, and their behavioral adaptability was captured by multiple equilibrium behaviors over the stochastic network state set. The mixed equilibrium model was formulated as a fixed point problem defined in the mixed route flows, and its solution was achieved by executing an iterative algorithm. Numerical experiments were provided to verify the properties of the mixed network equilibrium model and the efficiency of the iterative algorithm.

文摘We propose an algorithm for learning hierarchical user interest models according to the Web pages users have browsed. In this algorithm, the interests of a user are represented into a tree which is called a user interest tree, the content and the structure of which can change simultaneously to adapt to the changes in a user＇s interests. This expression represents a user＇s specific and general interests as a continuurn. In some sense, specific interests correspond to shortterm interests, while general interests correspond to longterm interests. So this representation more really reflects the users＇ interests. The algorithm can automatically model a us er＇s multiple interest domains, dynamically generate the in terest models and prune a user interest tree when the number of the nodes in it exceeds given value. Finally, we show the experiment results in a Chinese Web Site.
文摘In this paper, a concept for the joint modeling of the device load and user intention is presented. It consists of two coupled models, a device load model to characterize the power consumption of an electric device of interest, and a user intention model for describing the user intentions which cause the energy consumption. The advantage of this joint model is the ability to predict the device load from the user intention and to reconstruct the user intention from the measured device load. This opens a new way for load monitoring, simulation and prediction from the perspective of users instead of devices.
文摘A critical component of the smart grid (SG) infrastructure is the embedded communications network, where an important objective of the latter is the expansion of its throughput, in conjunction with the satisfaction of specified latency and accuracy requirements. For the effective design of the communications network, the user and traffic profiles, such as known-user vs. unknown-user populations and bursty vs. non-bursty data traffics, must be carefully considered and subsequently modeled. This paper relates user and traffic models to the deployment of effective multiple access transmission algorithms in the communications network of the SG.
文摘User interest mining on Sina Weibo is the basis of personalized recommendations,advertising,marketing promotions,and other tasks.Although great progress has been made in this area,previous studies have ignored the differences among users:the varied behaviors and habits that lead to unique user data characteristics.It is unreasonable to use a single strategy to mine interests from such varied user data.Therefore,this paper proposes an adaptive model for user interest mining based on a multi-agent system whose input includes self-descriptive user data,microblogs and correlations.This method has the ability to select the appropriate strategy based on each user’s data characteristics.The experimental results show that the proposed method performs better than the baselines.
文摘User model which is the representation of information about user is the heart of adaptive systems. It helps adaptive systems to perform adaptation tasks. There are two kinds of adaptations: 1) Individual adaptation regarding to each user;2) Group adaptation focusing on group of users. To support group adaptation, the basic problem which needs to be solved is how to create user groups. This relates to clustering techniques so as to cluster user models because a group is considered as a cluster of similar user models. In this paper we discuss two clustering algorithms: k-means and k-medoids and also propose dissimilarity measures and similarity measures which are applied into different structures (forms) of user models like vector, overlay, and Bayesian network.

文摘This study explored user satisfaction with mobile payments by applying a novel structural topic model.Specifically,we collected 17,927 online reviews of a specific mobile payment(i.e.,PayPal).Then,we employed a structural topic model to investigate the relationship between the attributes extracted from online reviews and user satisfaction with mobile payment.Consequently,we discovered that“lack of reliability”and“poor customer service”tend to appear in negative reviews.Whereas,the terms“convenience,”“user-friendly interface,”“simple process,”and“secure system”tend to appear in positive reviews.On the basis of information system success theory,we categorized the topics“convenience,”“user-friendly interface,”and“simple process,”as system quality.In addition,“poor customer service”was categorized as service quality.Furthermore,based on the previous studies of trust and security,“lack of reliability”and“secure system”were categorized as trust and security,respectively.These outcomes indicate that users are satisfied when they perceive that system quality and security of specific mobile payments are great.On the contrary,users are dissatisfied when they feel that service quality and reliability of specific mobile payments is lacking.Overall,our research implies that a novel structural topic model is an effective method to explore mobile payment user experience.
