Objective Observational studies have found associations between inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)and the risk of dementia,including Alzheimer’s dementia(AD)and vascular dementia(VD);however,these findings are inconsist...Objective Observational studies have found associations between inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)and the risk of dementia,including Alzheimer’s dementia(AD)and vascular dementia(VD);however,these findings are inconsistent.It remains unclear whether these associations are causal.Methods We conducted a meta-analysis by systematically searching for observational studies on the association between IBD and dementia.Mendelian randomization(MR)analysis based on summary genome-wide association studies(GWASs)was performed.Genetic correlation and Bayesian colocalization analyses were used to provide robust genetic evidence.Results Ten observational studies involving 80,565,688 participants were included in this metaanalysis.IBD was significantly associated with dementia(risk ratio[RR]=1.36,95%CI=1.04-1.78;I2=84.8%)and VD(RR=2.60,95%CI=1.18-5.70;only one study),but not with AD(RR=2.00,95%CI=0.96-4.13;I^(2)=99.8%).MR analyses did not supported significant causal associations of IBD with dementia(dementia:odds ratio[OR]=1.01,95%CI=0.98-1.03;AD:OR=0.98,95%CI=0.95-1.01;VD:OR=1.02,95%CI=0.97-1.07).In addition,genetic correlation and co-localization analyses did not reveal any genetic associations between IBD and dementia.Conclusion Our study did not provide genetic evidence for a causal association between IBD and dementia risk.The increased risk of dementia observed in observational studies may be attributed to unobserved confounding factors or detection bias.展开更多
Background and Purpose: In recent years, individual spirituality has been attracting attention, but little research has been conducted as it relates to family spirituality that applies this concept to the family and r...Background and Purpose: In recent years, individual spirituality has been attracting attention, but little research has been conducted as it relates to family spirituality that applies this concept to the family and relates to the meaning of the family’s existence in terms of the entire family. The purpose of this study was to clarify the attributes of family spirituality and the influencing factors of its decline. Methods: Regarding family spirituality, 1) a literature search was conducted using PubMed and reviews of 20 English-language articles;and 2) semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 Japanese families having elderly members in the household. Data triangulation was performed for both, and a directed content analysis was conducted using Hohashi’s Concentric Sphere Family Environment Theory as the framework. Results: Attributes of family spirituality included 21 categories, such as “I think that my family exists for my children and grandchildren.” Factors influencing the decline in family spirituality included 20 categories in total, including 6 categories of risk/causal/promoting factors such as “lack of caring for family members”;11 categories of preventive/inhibitory/suppression factors such as “healthcare professionals not being close to the family”;and three categories of context-sensitive factors such as “death of a family member.” Conclusions/Implications for Practice: Family intervention requires nurses to understand the attributes of family spirituality and to control the influencing factors of a decline in family spirituality. Through such efforts, families will be able to discover the meaning of the existence of the family and maintain and improve their well-being.展开更多
Accurate measurement of the transverse position of a beam is crucial in particle accelerators because it plays a key role in determining the beam parameters.Existing methods for beam-position measurement rely on the d...Accurate measurement of the transverse position of a beam is crucial in particle accelerators because it plays a key role in determining the beam parameters.Existing methods for beam-position measurement rely on the detection of image currents induced on electrodes or narrow-band wake field induced by a beam passing through a cavity-type structure.However,these methods have limitations.The indirect measurement of multiple parameters is computationally complex,requiring external calibration to determine the system parameters in advance.Furthermore,the utilization of the beam signal information is incomplete.Hence,this study proposes a novel method for measuring the absolute electron beam transverse position.By utilizing the geometric relationship between the center position of the measured electron beam and multiple detection electrodes and by analyzing the differences in the arrival times of the beam signals detected by these electrodes,the absolute transverse position of the electron beam crossing the electrode plane can be calculated.This method features absolute position measurement,a position sensitivity coefficient independent of vacuum chamber apertures,and no requirement for a symmetrical detector electrode layout.The feasibility of this method is validated through numerical simulations and beam experiments.展开更多

Finally experiments are described to demonstrate its effectiveness and feasibility. Experimental results demonstrate that the Delaunay triangulation interpolation can have the following effects.In the case of the same center the root mean square distances RMSD and standard deviation STD between the corrected image with Delaunay triangulation interpolation and the ideal image are 5.760 4 ×10 -14 and 5.354 2 ×10 -14 respectively.They increase to 1.790 3 2.388 8 2.338 8 and 1.262 0 1.268 1 1.202 6 after applying the quartic polynomial model L1 and model L2 to the distorted images respectively.The RMSDs and STDs between the corrected image with the Delaunay triangulation interpolation and the ideal image are 2.489 × 10 -13 and 2.449 8 ×10 -13 when their centers do not coincide. When the quartic polynomial model L1 and model L2 are applied to the distorted images they are 1.770 3 2.388 8 2.338 8 and 1.269 9 1.268 1 1.202 6 respectively.展开更多

It is important to quantify and analyze forest spatial patterns for studying biological characteristics,population interaction and the relationship between the population and environment.In this study,the forest spati...It is important to quantify and analyze forest spatial patterns for studying biological characteristics,population interaction and the relationship between the population and environment.In this study,the forest spatial structure unit was generated based on the Delaunay triangulation model(DTM),and the weights were generated using the comprehensive values of the tree diameter at breast height,total height and crown width.The distance between neighbors determined by the DTM was weighted to transform the original coordinates of trees into logical coordinates.Then,a weighted spatial pattern(WSP)was developed.After weighting,the neighboring trees were replaced,the replacement ratio was 38.3%,and there was 57.4%of the central tree.Correlation analysis showed that the uniform angle index of the WSP was significantly correlated with the tree size standard deviation under uniformity(r=0.932)and randomness(r=0.711).The DTM method not only considers the spatial distance between trees,but also considers the non-spatial attributes of trees.By changing the spatial topological relation between trees,this method further improves the spatial structure measurement of forest.展开更多

The adaptive remeshing technique generates small elements around crack tips and large elements in the other regions. The resulting stress intensity factors and simulated crack propagation behavior are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the procedure. Three sample problems of a center cracked plate, a single edge cracked plate and a compact tension specimen, are simulated and their results assessed.展开更多

First, two intersection points corresponding to the emitter position are obtained by utilizing two azimuth angles and two elevation angles from two jammed 3-D radars (or 2-D passive sensors). Then, hypothesis testing based deghosting method in the multiple target scenarios is proposed using the two intersection points. In order to analyze the performance of the proposed method, the correct association probability of the true targets and the incorrect association probability of the ghost targets are defined. Finally, the Monte Carlo simulations are given for the proposed method compared with the hinge angle method in the cases of both two and three radars. In addition, broadband sferics from t...The triangulation of red sprites was obtained, based on concurrent observations over a mesoscale convective system(MCS) in North China from two stations separated by about 450 km. In addition, broadband sferics from the sprite-producing lightning were measured at five ground stations, making it possible to locate and identify the individual causative lightning discharges for different elements in this dancing sprite event. The results of our analyses indicate that the sprites were produced above the trailing stratiform region of the MCS, and their parent strokes were located mainly in the peripheral area of the stratiform. The lateral offset between sprites and causative strokes ranges from a few km to more than 50 km. In a particularly bright sprite, with a distinct halo feature and streamers descending down to an altitude of approximately 48 km, the sprite current signal identified in the electric sferic, measured at a range of about 1,110 km, peaked at approximately 1 ms after the return stroke.展开更多

The flow direction in this approach is determined b...A new algorithm to automatically extract drainage networks and catchments based on triangulation irregular networks(TINs) digital elevation model(DEM) was developed. The flow direction in this approach is determined by computing the spatial gradient of triangle and triangle edges. Outflow edge was defined by comparing the contribution area that is separated by the steepest descent of the triangle. Local channels were then tracked to build drainage networks. Both triangle edges and facets were considered to construct flow path. The algorithm has been tested in the site for Hawaiian Island of Kaho'olawe, and the results were compared with those calculated by ARCGIS as well as terrain map. The reported algorithm has been proved to be a reliable approach with high efficiency to generate well-connected and coherent drainage networks.展开更多

In this paper, a simple deterministic insertion sequence is proposed based on the breadth-first-search on a Kd-tree with some minor modifications for better performance. Using parent nodes as search-hints, the proposed insertion sequence proves to be faster and more stable than the Hilbert curve order and biased randomized insertion order (BRIO), especially for non-uniform point distributions over a wide range of benchmark examples.展开更多

The multidimensional dissipation scheme was developed and included in the upwinding algorithm for unstructured triangular meshes to improve the computed shock wave resolution. The solution accuracy is further improved by coupling an error estimation procedure to a remeshing algorithm that generates small elements in regions with large change of solution gradients, and at the same time, larger elements in other regions. The proposed scheme is further extended to achieve higher-order spatial and temporal solution accuracy. Efficiency of the combined procedure is evaluated by analyzing supersonic shocks and shock propagation behaviors for both the steady and unsteady high-speed compressible flows.展开更多
Road Side Units(RSUs)are the essential component of vehicular communication for the objective of improving safety and mobility in the road transportation.RSUs are generally deployed at the roadside and more specifical...Road Side Units(RSUs)are the essential component of vehicular communication for the objective of improving safety and mobility in the road transportation.RSUs are generally deployed at the roadside and more specifically at the intersections in order to collect traffic information from the vehicles and disseminate alarms and messages in emergency situations to the neighborhood vehicles cooperating with the network.However,the development of a predominant RSUs placement algorithm for ensuring competent communication in VANETs is a challenging issue due to the hindrance of obstacles like water bodies,trees and buildings.In this paper,Ruppert’s Delaunay Triangulation Refinement Scheme(RDTRS)for optimal RSUs placement is proposed for accurately estimating the optimal number of RSUs that has the possibility of enhancing the area of coverage during data communication.This RDTRS is proposed by considering the maximum number of factors such as global coverage,intersection popularity,vehicle density and obstacles present in the map for optimal RSUs placement,which is considered as the core improvement over the existing RSUs optimal placement strategies.It is contributed for deploying requisite RSUs with essential transmission range for maximal coverage in the convex map such that each position of the map could be effectively covered by at least one RSU in the presence of obstacles.The simulation experiments of the proposed RDTRS are conducted with complex road traffic environments.The results of this proposed RDTRS confirmed its predominance in reducing the end-to-end delay by 21.32%,packet loss by 9.38%with improved packet delivery rate of 10.68%,compared to the benchmarked schemes.展开更多

A laser source and a camera were mounted at the top of the silo. The laser spot projected into the silo was imaged by the camera. The pinhole imaging principle allows the level to be found from the lateral shift of the spot image on the sensor. A pre-calibrated look-up table of the coal depth versus spot position was used to obtain the depth. The measurement accuracy depends on the step size used during pre-calibration. The actual application of a device designed according to these principles shows that it is easy to implement. The detection of the coal level in a silo at the low illumination level found in coal mines is demonstrated.展开更多

文摘A method for quality mesh generation of parametric curved surfaces isproposed. It is shown that the main difference between the proposed method and previous ones is thatour meshing process is done completely in the parametric domains with the guarantee of meshquality. To obtain this aim, the Delaunay method is extended to anisotropic context of 2D domains,and a Riemannian metric map is introduced to remedy the mapping distortion from object space toparametric domain. Compared with previous algorithms, the approach is much simpler, more robust andspeedy. The algorithm is implemented and examples for several geometries are presented todemonstrate the efficiency and validity of the method.

文摘The triangulation of red sprites was obtained, based on concurrent observations over a mesoscale convective system(MCS) in North China from two stations separated by about 450 km. In addition, broadband sferics from the sprite-producing lightning were measured at five ground stations, making it possible to locate and identify the individual causative lightning discharges for different elements in this dancing sprite event. The results of our analyses indicate that the sprites were produced above the trailing stratiform region of the MCS, and their parent strokes were located mainly in the peripheral area of the stratiform. The lateral offset between sprites and causative strokes ranges from a few km to more than 50 km. In a particularly bright sprite, with a distinct halo feature and streamers descending down to an altitude of approximately 48 km, the sprite current signal identified in the electric sferic, measured at a range of about 1,110 km, peaked at approximately 1 ms after the return stroke.

文摘A new algorithm to automatically extract drainage networks and catchments based on triangulation irregular networks(TINs) digital elevation model(DEM) was developed. The flow direction in this approach is determined by computing the spatial gradient of triangle and triangle edges. Outflow edge was defined by comparing the contribution area that is separated by the steepest descent of the triangle. Local channels were then tracked to build drainage networks. Both triangle edges and facets were considered to construct flow path. The algorithm has been tested in the site for Hawaiian Island of Kaho'olawe, and the results were compared with those calculated by ARCGIS as well as terrain map. The reported algorithm has been proved to be a reliable approach with high efficiency to generate well-connected and coherent drainage networks.

文摘Incremental algorithm is one of the most popular procedures for constructing Delaunay triangulations (DTs). However, the point insertion sequence has a great impact on the amount of work needed for the construction of DTs. It affects the time for both point location and structure update, and hence the overall computational time of the triangulation algorithm. In this paper, a simple deterministic insertion sequence is proposed based on the breadth-first-search on a Kd-tree with some minor modifications for better performance. Using parent nodes as search-hints, the proposed insertion sequence proves to be faster and more stable than the Hilbert curve order and biased randomized insertion order (BRIO), especially for non-uniform point distributions over a wide range of benchmark examples.
文摘Adaptive Delaunay triangulation is combined with the cell-centered upwinding algorithm to analyze inviscid high-speed compressible flow problems. The multidimensional dissipation scheme was developed and included in the upwinding algorithm for unstructured triangular meshes to improve the computed shock wave resolution. The solution accuracy is further improved by coupling an error estimation procedure to a remeshing algorithm that generates small elements in regions with large change of solution gradients, and at the same time, larger elements in other regions. The proposed scheme is further extended to achieve higher-order spatial and temporal solution accuracy. Efficiency of the combined procedure is evaluated by analyzing supersonic shocks and shock propagation behaviors for both the steady and unsteady high-speed compressible flows.
文摘Road Side Units(RSUs)are the essential component of vehicular communication for the objective of improving safety and mobility in the road transportation.RSUs are generally deployed at the roadside and more specifically at the intersections in order to collect traffic information from the vehicles and disseminate alarms and messages in emergency situations to the neighborhood vehicles cooperating with the network.However,the development of a predominant RSUs placement algorithm for ensuring competent communication in VANETs is a challenging issue due to the hindrance of obstacles like water bodies,trees and buildings.In this paper,Ruppert’s Delaunay Triangulation Refinement Scheme(RDTRS)for optimal RSUs placement is proposed for accurately estimating the optimal number of RSUs that has the possibility of enhancing the area of coverage during data communication.This RDTRS is proposed by considering the maximum number of factors such as global coverage,intersection popularity,vehicle density and obstacles present in the map for optimal RSUs placement,which is considered as the core improvement over the existing RSUs optimal placement strategies.It is contributed for deploying requisite RSUs with essential transmission range for maximal coverage in the convex map such that each position of the map could be effectively covered by at least one RSU in the presence of obstacles.The simulation experiments of the proposed RDTRS are conducted with complex road traffic environments.The results of this proposed RDTRS confirmed its predominance in reducing the end-to-end delay by 21.32%,packet loss by 9.38%with improved packet delivery rate of 10.68%,compared to the benchmarked schemes.
文摘In the paper, an improved algorithm is presented for Delaunay triangulation of the point-set in the plain. Based on the original algorithm, we propose the notion of removing circle. During the process of triangulation, and the circle dynamically moves, the algorithm which is simple and practical, therefore evidently accelerates the process of searching a new point, while generating a new triangle. Then it shows the effect of the algorithm in the finite element mesh.

文摘In this paper, we consider spaces of cubic C^1-spline on a class of triangulations. By using the inductive algorithm, the posed Lagrange interpolation sets are constructed for cubic spline space. It is shown that the class of triangulations considered in this paper are nonsingular for S1/3 spaces. Moreover, the dimensions of those spaces exactly equal to L. L. Schuraaker's low bounds of the dimensions. At the end of this paper, we present an approach to construct triangulations from any scattered planar points, which ensures that the obtained triangulations for S1/3 space are nonsingular.

文摘Laser triangulation theory was used to develop a novel contact-free method for measuring the coal level in a silo under harsh environmental conditions found in coal mines, such as the presence of dense dust, high humidity, and low illumination. A laser source and a camera were mounted at the top of the silo. The laser spot projected into the silo was imaged by the camera. The pinhole imaging principle allows the level to be found from the lateral shift of the spot image on the sensor. A pre-calibrated look-up table of the coal depth versus spot position was used to obtain the depth. The measurement accuracy depends on the step size used during pre-calibration. The actual application of a device designed according to these principles shows that it is easy to implement. The detection of the coal level in a silo at the low illumination level found in coal mines is demonstrated.

文摘A new displacement measurement system is described in this paper according to the basic principles of traditional lasertriangulation method. The range of the traditional measuring method is enlarged by measuring in sections. Three independent CCDs, which are distributed uniformly along the optical axis, are used to achieve subsection measurement. The planemirror is regarded as a virtual detector. When imaging beam is reflected by the plane mirror, the beam is imaged on theCC D. The designed system is equivalent to add a CCD. The feasibility of the displacement measurement system is verifiedby the experiment.
