It was found that the addition of SiO2 to TiO2 thin films can suppress the grain growth of TiO2 crystal, increase the hydroxyl content on the surface of TiO2 films, lower the contact angle for water on TiO, films and enhance the hydrophilic property of TiO2 films. The super-hydrophilic TiO2/SiO2 photocatalytic composite thin films with the contact angle of 0((o) under bar) are obtained by the addition of 10%-20% SiO2 in mole fraction.展开更多

The effects of n(Zn)/n(Ti) on the microstructures of TiO2-ZnO films were investigated by SEM, AFM, Raman and XPS, and their photocatalytic decomposition of methyl orange solutions was evaluated. The results show that an increase in n(Zn)/n(Ti) typically results in a decrease in the grain size of composite films firstly and then an increase of grain size, while an increase in n(Zn)/n(Ti) leads to an increase in film roughness firstly and then a decrease in film roughness. Both grain size and roughness of TiO2-ZnO films reach the maximum and minimum at n(Zn)/n(Ti) of 1/9.3, respectively. The n(Zn)/n(Ti) shows little effect on the valences of Zn and Ti elements, which mainly exist in the form of TiO2 and ZnO phases. The n(Zn)/n(Ti) has influence on the amount of anatase/rutile TiO2 heterojunction in the film. With increase of the n(Zn)/n(Ti), the absorption intensity of the composite film increases and the absorption region extends to 450 nm, which is redshifted as much as 150 nm in comparison with the pure TiO2 films. However, the photocatalytic abilities of heterogeneous composite films do not depend on the n(Zn)/n(Ti) but rather on the microstructures of the TiO2-ZnO composite films. Degradation rate of the film reaches the maximum and the photocatalytic decomposition of pollutants works best when n(Zn)/n(Ti)=1:9.3.展开更多

The surface morphology and the optical properties of the composite film were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ultraviolet- visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). The photocatalytic activity of the samples was evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) aqueous solution under visible light irradiation. The results indicate that the Cu2O/TiO2/Pt composite films are made up of three layers which are Pt layer, anatase-TiO2 layer and Cu2O layer from bottom to top. The surface of the films is even and composed of regular-shaped spherical particles. The photocatalytic activity of the Cu2O/TiO2/Pt three-layer film is much higher than that of the Cu2O/TiO2 double-layer film. Such enhancement is ascribed to the presence of Pt layer, which further inhibits the photogenerated electron-hole recombination, prolongs the lifetime of the photogenerated carriers, increases the quantum efficiency and hence improves the photocatalytic activity of the film effectively.展开更多

However, this may lead to the formation of powder instead of film on the substrate when using volume dielectric barrier discharge (volume-DBD) at atmospheric pressure. In this study, by adding N2 into the working gas Ar, TiO2 photocatalytic films were successfully fabricated in the presence of excess O2 (PO2/PTiC14 = 2.6) by using a wire-to-plate atmospheric-pressure volume-DBD. The tuning effect of N2 on the deposition of TiO2 film was studied in detail. The results showed that by increasing the N2 content, the deposition rate and particle size of the TiO2 film were reduced, and its photocatalytic activity was enhanced. The tuning mechanism of N2 is further discussed.展开更多

The film deposited for 5 h was of anatase phase with a preferred orientation along the <220> direction, but the films deposited for 2 and 3 h were amorphous. The transmittance and photocatalytic activity of the TiO2 films increased constantly with increasing film thickness. When the annealing temperature was lower than 700℃, only anatase grew in the TiO2 film. TiO2 phase changed from anatase to rutile when the annealing temperature was above 800℃. The effects of the annealing temperature (300-600 ℃) on crystalline structure, morphology, and photocatalytic activity of the TiO2 thin films were discussed. The photocatalytic activity of the films was evaluated by photodegradation of methylene blue solution. With increasing annealing temperature, the photocatalytic activity of the TiO2 thin films gradually increased because of the improvement of crystallization of anatase TiO2 thin films. At 500 ℃, the TiO2 thin film shows the highest photocatalytic activity due to the improvement of crystallization of anatase TiO2 thin films. When the annealing temperature increases to 600 ℃, the photocatalytic activity of thin film decreases owing to the formation of rutile phase and the decrease of surface area.展开更多

The metal oxide powders, together with magnesium nitrate hexahydrate pellets, were suspended in propan-2-ol inside an EPD cell. The electrodes, placed 1.2 cm apart, were partially immersed in the suspension and a DC potential applied across them. Key EPD process parameters, which include applied DC electric field, deposition time and solid concentration in suspension, were optimized through visual inspection and from UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer spectra. The highest (55%) transmittance was obtained for films with deposition time of 90 s, powder concentration of 0.01 g/40 mL, and 35 V DC (direct current) voltage. Associated with the existence of a heterojunction at the interface of TiO2 and WO3, the prepared TiO2-WO3 composite film shows enhanced photocurrent density, four times than the pure WO3 film illuminated under xenon lamp, and higher incident-photon-to-current conversion e^ciency. By varying the initial TiO2 film thickness, such composite structures could be optimized to obtain the highest photocurrent density. We believe that thin TiO2 films improve the light response and increase the surface roughness of WO3 films. Furthermore, the existence of the heterojunction results in the e^cient charge carriers' separation, transfer process, and a lower recombination of electron-hole pairs, which is beneficial for the enhancement of photocurrent density.展开更多

The photocatalysts prepared were characterized by XRD, thermal analysis, FTIR, UV-Vis and SPS. The characterization results of FTIR and UV-Vis spectra show that Ti atoms were gradually changed from octahedral coordination to tetrahedral coordination with the addition of silica, which is not beneficial for obtaining strong Brnsted acidity and higher photocatalytic activity. The photocatalytic activity experiments, which were conducted by using heptane(or SO 2) as the model reactant, showed that TiO 2-SiO 2 containing a suitable amount of silica can exhibit much higher photocatalytic activity than pure TiO 2. The enhanced photocatalytic activity can be attributed to three following factors: (1) smaller crystalline size; (2) higher thermal stability; (3) the new strong Brnsted acidity.展开更多

The tuning mechanism of N2 is further discussed.

文摘TiO2 thin films were prepared by DC magnetron sputtering with the oxygen flow rate higher than the threshold. The photocatalytic activity decreased with increasing annealing temperature.
文摘In this work, TiO2/Ti composite films were fabricated by 2-setp MCT and the following high temperature oxidation. Antibacterial activity of the composite films treated by ultrasonic cleaning to increase the performance reliability was examined. The prepared TiO2/Ti composite films showed high photocatalytic activity in the degradation of methylene blue solution. It is obvious that? TiO2/Ti composite films have antibacterial activity under UV irradiation.

文摘Transparent TiO2 thin films were successfully prepared on high purity silica substrates by DC reactive magnetron sputtering method and annealed at different temperatures. When the annealing temperature increases to 600 ℃, the photocatalytic activity of thin film decreases owing to the formation of rutile phase and the decrease of surface area.
文摘Nano sized powders of TiO2 (titanium dioxide) and Nb2O5 (Niobium (V) oxide) were used to fabricate TiO2/Nb2O5 composites thin films by EPD (electrophoretic deposition) technique. XRD micrographs confirmed that TiO2 and Nb2O5 particles were presented in the composite film. SEM (scanning electron microscope) micrographs of the composite electrode thin films showed that porous films of high quality with well controlled morphology were deposited by using the EPD technique.

文摘Titanium dioxide (TiO2) loaded tungsten trioxide (WO3) composite films are prepared by an E-beam vapor system. Furthermore, the existence of the heterojunction results in the e^cient charge carriers' separation, transfer process, and a lower recombination of electron-hole pairs, which is beneficial for the enhancement of photocurrent density.

文摘Iron(Ⅲ)-doped nanostructure TiO2-coated SiO2 (TiO2/SiO2) particles were prepared using the layer-by-layer assembly technique and their photocatalytic property was studied. TiO2 colloids were synthesized employing the sol-gel method with TiChas a precursor. The samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), SEM, EDS, XPS, and XRD. The experimental results show that TiO2 nanopowders on the surface of SiO2 particles are well distributed, the amount of TiO2 is increased with the adding of coating layers, the pure anatase-TiO2 coating layers are synthesized at 500℃, and the photocatalytic activity of Fe^3+-doped TiO2/SiO2 is higher than that of undoped TiO2/SiO2.

文摘Cu^2+-doped nanostructured TiO2-coated SiO2 (TiO2/SiO2) particles were prepared by the layer-by-layer assembly technique and their photocatalytic property was studied. TiO2 colloids were synthesized by the sol-gel method using TiOSO4 as a precursor. The experimental results showed that TiO2 nanopowders on the surface of SiO2 particles were well distributed and compact. The amount of TiO2 increased with the increase in coating layers. The shell structure appeared to be composed of anatase titania nanocrystals at 550℃. The 2-layer coated TiO2 particles on the surface showed a higher degradation rate compared with all the different-layer samples. The photocatalytic activity of Cu^2+-doped TiO2/SiO2 was higher than that ofundoped TiO2/SiO2. The optimum dopant content was about 0.10wt%.

文摘H3PW12O40/TiO2-SiO2 was synthesized by impregnation method which significantly improved the catalytic activity under simulated natural light. The prop- erties of the samples were characterized by Fourier trans- form infrared spectra (FTIR), X-ray powder diffraction pattern (XRD), Scanning electron micrographs (SEM), and Zeta potential. Degradation of methyl violet was used as a probe reaction to explore the influencing factors on the photodegradation reaction. The results show that the opti- mal conditions are as follows: initial concentration of methyl violet of 10 mg·L^-1, pH of 3.0, catalyst dosage of 2.9 g·L^-1, and light irradiation time of 2.5 h. Under these conditions, the degradation rate of methyl violet is 95.4 %. The reaction on photodegradation for methyl violet can be expressed as the first-order kinetic model, and the possible mechanism for the photocatalysis under simulated natural light is suggested. After used continuously for five times, the catalyst keeps the inherent photocatalytic activity for degradation of dyes. The photodegradation of methyl orange, methyl red, naphthol green B, and methylene blue was also tested, and the degradation rate of dyes can reach 81%-100%.

文摘A series of TiO 2-XSiO 2[X denotes the molar fraction(%) of silica in the mixed oxides] with different \{n(Ti)\}/n(Si) ratios was prepared with ammonia water as a hydrolysis catalyst. The enhanced photocatalytic activity can be attributed to three following factors: (1) smaller crystalline size; (2) higher thermal stability; (3) the new strong Brnsted acidity.
