Additive manufacturing(AM),particularly fused deposition modeling(FDM),has emerged as a transformative technology in modern manufacturing processes. The dimensional accuracy of FDM-printed parts is crucial for ensuring their functional integrity and performance. To achieve sustainable manufacturing in FDM,it is necessary to optimize the print quality and time efficiency concurrently. However, owing to the complex interactions of printing parameters, achieving a balanced optimization of both remains challenging. This study examines four key factors affecting dimensional accuracy and print time:printing speed, layer thickness, nozzle temperature, and bed temperature.Fifty parameter sets were generated using enhanced Latin hypercube sampling.A whale optimization algorithm(WOA)-enhanced support vector regression(SVR)model was developed to predict dimen-sional errors and print time effectively, with non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm Ⅲ(NSGA-Ⅲ)utilized for multi-objective optimization. The technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution(TOPSIS)was applied to select a balanced solution from the Pareto front. In experimental validation, the parts printed using the optimized parameters exhibited excellent dimensional accuracy and printing efficiency. This study comprehensively considered optimizing the printing time and size to meet quality requirements while achieving higher printing efficiency and aiding in the realization of sustainable manufacturing in the field of AM.In addition, the printing of a specific prosthetic component was used as a case study, highlighting the high demands on both dimensional precision and printing efficiency. The optimized process parameters required significantly less printing time, while satisfying the dimensional accuracy requirements. This study provides valuable insights for achieving sustainable AM using FDM. 展开更多

Phase transitions,as one of the most intriguing phenomena in nature, are divided into first-order phase transitions(FOPTs)and continuous ones in current classification. While the latter shows striking phenomena of scaling and universality, the former has recently also been demonstrated to exhibit scaling and universal behavior within a mesoscopic,coarse-grained Landau-Ginzburg theory. Here we apply this theory to a microscopic model-the paradigmatic Ising model, which undergoes FOPTs between two ordered phases below its critical temperature-and unambiguously demonstrate universal scaling behavior in such FOPTs.These results open the door for extending the theory to other microscopic FOPT systems and experimentally testing them to systematically uncover their scaling and universal behavior. 展开更多

The problem of taking an unorganized point cloud in 3D space and fitting a polyhedral surface to those points is both important and difficult. Aiming at increasing applications of full three dimensional digital terrain surface modeling, a new algorithm for the automatic generation of three dimensional triangulated irregular network from a point cloud is pro- posed. Based on the local topological consistency test, a combined algorithm of constrained 3D Delaunay triangulation and region-growing is extended to ensure topologically correct reconstruction. This paper also introduced an efficient neighbor- ing triangle location method by making full use of the surface normal information. Experimental results prove that this algo- rithm can efficiently obtain the most reasonable reconstructed mesh surface with arbitrary topology, wherein the automati- cally reconstructed surface has only small topological difference from the true surface. This algorithm has potential applica- tions to virtual environments, computer vision, and so on. 展开更多

The curse of dimensionality refers to the problem o increased sparsity and computational complexity when dealing with high-dimensional data.In recent years, the types and vari ables of industrial data have increased significantly, making data driven models more challenging to develop. To address this prob lem, data augmentation technology has been introduced as an effective tool to solve the sparsity problem of high-dimensiona industrial data. This paper systematically explores and discusses the necessity, feasibility, and effectiveness of augmented indus trial data-driven modeling in the context of the curse of dimen sionality and virtual big data. Then, the process of data augmen tation modeling is analyzed, and the concept of data boosting augmentation is proposed. The data boosting augmentation involves designing the reliability weight and actual-virtual weigh functions, and developing a double weighted partial least squares model to optimize the three stages of data generation, data fusion and modeling. This approach significantly improves the inter pretability, effectiveness, and practicality of data augmentation in the industrial modeling. Finally, the proposed method is verified using practical examples of fault diagnosis systems and virtua measurement systems in the industry. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in improving the accu racy and robustness of data-driven models, making them more suitable for real-world industrial applications. 展开更多

The dynamic updating of the model included: the change of space border,addi- tion and reduction of spatial component (disappearing, dividing and merging),the change of the topological relationship and synchronous dynamic updating of database.Firstly, arming at the deficiency of OO-Solid model in the aspect of dynamic updating, modeling primitives of OO-Solid model were modified. And then the algorithms of dynamic updating of 3D geological model with the node data, line data or surface data change were dis- cussed. The core algorithms was done by establishing space index, following the way of facing the object from bottom to top, namely the dynamic updating from the node to arc, and then to polygon, then to the face of the component and finally to the geological object. The research has important theoretical and practical values in the field of three dimen- sional geological modeling and is significant in the field of mineral resources. 展开更多

In gravity-anomaly-based prospecting, the computational and memory requirements for practical numerical modeling are potentially enormous. Achieving an efficient and precise inversion for gravity anomaly imaging over large-scale and complex terrain requires additional methods. To this end, we have proposed a new topography-capable By performing a two-dimensional Fourier transform in the horizontal directions, threedimensional partial differential equations in the spatial domain were transformed into a group of independent, one-dimensional differential equations engaged with different wave numbers. These independent differential equations are highly parallel across different wave numbers. differential equations with different wave numbers, and the efficiency of solving fixedbandwidth linear equations was further improved by a chasing method. In a synthetic test, a prism model was used to verify the accuracy and reliability of the proposed algorithm by comparing the numerical solution with the analytical solution. We studied the computational precision and efficiency with and without topography using different Fourier transform methods. The results showed that the Guass-FFT method has higher numerical precision, while the standard FFT method is superior, in terms of computation time, for inversion and quantitative interpretation under complicated terrain. 展开更多

The traditional fuzzy logic system (FLS) can only model and control the process in two-dimensional nature. Many of real-world systems are of multidimensional features, such as, thermal and fluid processes with spatiotemporal dynamics, biological systems, or decision-making processes that contain stochastic and imprecise uncertainties. These types of systems are difficult for the traditional FLS to model and control because they require a third dimension for spatial or probabilistic information. The type-2 fuzzy set provides the possibility to develop a three-dimensional fuzzy logic system for modeling and controlling these processes in three-dimensional nature. 展开更多

Thermal maturation and petroleum generation modeling of shales is essential for suc- cessful exploration and exploitation of conventional and unconventional oil and gas plays. For basin- wide unconventional resource plays such modeling, when well calibrated with direct maturity meas- urements from wells, can characterize and locate production sweet spots for oil, wet gas and dry gas. The transformation of kerogen to petroleum is associated with many chemical reactions, but models typically focus on first-order reactions with rates determined by the Arrhenius Equation. A miscon- ception has been perpetuated for many years that accurate thermal maturity modeling of vitrinite re- flectance using the Arrhenius Equation and a single activation energy, to derive a time-temperature index (~TTIARa), as proposed by Wood (1988), is flawed. This claim was initially made by Sweeney and Burnham (1990) in promoting their "EasyRo" method, and repeated by others. This paper dem- onstrates through detailed multi-dimensional burial and thermal modeling and direct comparison of the ~TTIARR and "EasyRo" methods that this is not the case. The ~TTIA^R method not only provides a very useful and sensitive maturity index, it can reproduce the calculated vitrinite reflectance values derived from models based on multiple activation energies (e.g., "EasyRo"). Through simple expres- sions the ~TTIAaa method can also provide oil and gas transformation factors that can be flexibly scaled and calibrated to match the oil, wet gas and dry gas generation windows. This is achieved in a more-computationally-efficient, flexible and transparent way by the ~TTIARR method than the "EasyRo" method. Analysis indicates that the "EasyRo" method, using twenty activation energies and a constant frequency factor, generates reaction rates and transformation factors that do not realisti- cally model observed kerogen behaviour and transformation factors over geologic time scales. 展开更多

Metastasis is the leading cause of most cancer deaths, as opposed to dysregulated cell growth of the primary tumor. Molecular mechanisms of metastasis have been studied for decades and the findings have evolved our understanding of the progression of malignancy. However, most of the molecular mechanisms fail to address the causes of cancer and its evolutionary origin, demonstrating an inability to find a solution for complete cure of cancer. After being a neglected area of tumor biology for quite some time, recently several studies have focused on the impact of the tumor microenvironment on cancer growth. The importance of the tumor microenvironment is gradually gaining attention, particularly from the per- spective of biophysics. In vitro three-dimensional (3-D) metastatic models are an indispensable platform for investigating the tumor microenvironment, as they mimic the in vivo tumor tissue. In 3-D metastatic in vitro models, static factors such as the mechanical properties, biochemical factors, as well as dynamic factors such as cell-cell, cell-ECM interactions, and fluid shear stress can be studied quantitatively. With increasing focus on basic cancer research and drug development, the in vitro 3-D models offer unique advantages in fundamental and clinical biomedical studies. 展开更多

A three-dimensional (3-D) approach based on the state space method is proposed to study size-dependent mechanical properties of ultra-thin plate-like elastic structures considering surface effects. The structure is modeled as a laminate composed of a bulk bounded with upper and bottom surface layers, which are allowed to have different material properties from the bulk layer. State equations, including the surface properties of the structure, can be established on the basis of 3-D fundamental elasticity to analyze the size-dependent static characteristics of the thin plate-like structure. Compared with two-dimensional plate theories based size-dependent models for thin film structures in literature, the present 3-D approach is exact, which can provide benchmark results to assess the accuracy of 2-D plate theories and various numerical approaches. To show the feasibility of the proposed approach, a 3-D analytical solution for a simply supported plate-like thin structure including surface layers is derived. An algorithm is proposed for the calculation of the state equations obtained to ensure that the numerical results can reveal the surface effects clearly even for extremely thin surface layers. Numerical examples are carried out to exhibit the surface effects and some discussions are provided based on the results obtained. 展开更多

Yingqiong basin is a proven hydrocarbon-rich basin in South China Sea. There are a number of large exploration prospects in high temperature and over-pressured formations, especially in Yacheng Block of Qiongdongnan basin and Dongfang District of Yinggehai Basin. Owing to good exploration situation, we have already achieved proven geological reserves over 1000 × 108 m3. In recent years, a few drilled HPHT wells have confirmed that pressure predicted by conventional method was wildly inaccurate. From the view of regional stress, the accuracy of the pressure prediction will be substantially improved. Accurate pressure prediction and three-dimensional pressure modeling which are based on three-dimensional lithology modeling are the cornerstone to achieve exploration breakthrough. In this paper, the use of the triple constraint trend lithology model broke through the traditional method of seismic lithology prediction only by means of impedance threshold value. Compared with actual data and prediction, it confirms that three-dimensional pressure modeling method is reasonable and effective, and has a wide prospect of application. 展开更多

Objectives This study was to investigate the differences between modeling and non-modeling left atrium (LA) in CartoXP system guided catheter ablation for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF). Methods From Jan to Dec in 2008 total 31 cases with PAF were enrolled. All were treated by the same electrophysiologist with CartoXP guidance. Catheter ablation was accomplished without left atrium and pulmonary veins modeling in 17 patients (non-modeling group) and with left atrium modeling in 14 patients (modeling group). The detailed ablation method was based on circumferential pulmonary veins isolation (CPVI). And linear ablation of tricuspid valvular isthmus was performed individually. The ablation endpoint was a complete isolation of pulmonary vein potential from left atrium and no further induced continuous fast atrial arrhythmia including atrial fibrillation (AF), atrial flutter (AFL) and atrial tachycardia (AT). Each step for the procedures and the follow-up outcomes were compared correspondingly. Results The total procedure time was 107.23 ± 28.92 min in modeling group vs 93.47 ±26.09 min in non-modeling group ( P 〉 0.05 ). The X-ray exposure time was significantly longer in modeling group (21.09 ±6. 49 rain) than in non-modeling group (14. 16 ± 5.35 min). The CPVI times of right pulmonary veins and left pulmonary veins were 28. 14 ± 9. 26 min was 27.29 ± 18.53 min in modeling group respectively, vs 18.00 ±4. 51 min and 23.94 ± 7. 10 min in non-modeling group respectively, (P 〈 0. 05 ). There is no significant difference between modeling group (85.7%) and non-modeling group (82.4%) over follow-up period of 2 to 13 months. Confusions CartoXP system guided catheter ablation of PAF without modeling of left atrium and pulmonary veins took less time in X-ray exposure and ablation steps, comparing with left atrium modeling procedure. 展开更多

The crossover between short-range and long-range(LR)universal behaviors remains a central theme in the physics of LR interacting systems. The competition between LR coupling and the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless mechanism makes the problem more subtle and less understood in the two-dimensional(2D)XY model,a cornerstone for investigating low-dimensional phenomena and their implications in quantum computation. We study the 2D XY model with algebraically decaying interaction~1/r^(2+σ).Utilizing an advanced update strategy,we conduct LR Monte Carlo simulations of the model up to a linear size of L=8192.Our results demonstrate continuous phase transitions into a ferromagnetic phase forσ<2,which exhibit the simultaneous emergence of a long-ranged order and a power-law decaying correlation function due to the Goldstone mode.Furthermore,we fnd logarithmic scaling behaviors in the low-temperature phase atσ=2.The observed scaling behaviors in the low-temperature phase forσ≤2 agree with our theoretical analysis. Our fndings request further theoretical understanding and can be of practical application in cutting-edge experiments like Rydberg atom arrays. 展开更多

Gas-liquid two-phase flow in fractal porous media is pivotal for engineering applications, yet it remains challenging to be accurately characterized due to complex microstructure-flow interactions. This study establishes a pore-scale numerical framework integratingMonte Carlo-generated fractal porousmedia with Volume of Fluid(VOF)simulations to unravel the coupling among pore distribution characterized by fractal dimension(Df),flow dynamics, and displacement efficiency.A pore-scale model based on the computed tomography(CT)microstructure of Berea sandstone is established, and the simulation results are compared with experimental data.Good agreement is found in phase distribution, breakthrough behavior, and flow path morphology, confirming the reliability of the numerical simulation method.Ten fractal porous media models with Df ranging from 1.25~1.7 were constructed using a Monte-Carlo approach. The gas-liquid two-phase flow dynamics was characterized using the VOF solver across gas injection rates of 0.05-5m/s,inwhich the time-resolved two-phase distribution patternswere systematically recorded. The results reveal that smaller fractal dimensions(Df=1.25~1.45)accelerate fingering breakthrough(peak velocity is 1.73 m/s at Df=1.45)due to a bimodal pore size distribution dominated by narrow channels.Increasing Df amplifies vorticity generation by about 3 times(eddy viscosity is 0.033 Pa⋅s at Df=1.7)through reduced interfacial curvature, while tortuosity-driven pressure differentials transition from sharp increases(0.4~6.3 Pa at Df=1.25~1.3)to inertial plateaus(4.8 Pa at Df=1.7).A nonlinear increase in equilibrium gas volume fraction(fav=0.692 at Df=1.7)emerges from residual gas saturation and turbulence-enhanced dispersion. This behavior is further modulated by flow velocity, with fav peaking at 0.72 under capillary-dominated conditions(0.05 m/s),but decreasing to 0.65 in the inertial regime(0.5 m/s).The work quantitatively links fractal topology to multiphase flow regimes, demonstrating the critical role of Df in governing preferential pathways, energy dissipation, and phase distribution. 展开更多

Multistation machining process is widely applied in contemporary manufacturing environment. Modeling of variation propagation in multistation machining process is one of the most important research scenarios. Due to the existence of multiple variation streams, it is challenging to model and analyze variation propagation in a multi-station system. Current approaches to error modeling for multistation machining process are not explicit enough for error control and ensuring final product quality. In this paper, a mathematic model to depict the part dimensional variation of the complex multistation manufacturing process is formulated. A linear state space dimensional error propagation equation is established through kinematics analysis of the influence of locating parameter variations and locating datum variations on dimensional errors, so the dimensional error accumulation and transformation within the multistation process are quantitatively described. A systematic procedure to build the model is presented, which enhances the way to determine the variation sources in complex machining systems. A simple two-dimensional example is used to illustrate the proposed procedures. Finally, an industrial case of multistation machining part in a manufacturing shop is given to testify the validation and practicability of the method. The proposed analytical model is essential to quality control and improvement for multistation systems in machining quality forecasting and design optimization. 展开更多
