Introduction: Annual outbreak of Lassa Fever (LF) has been reported in Ondo State over the years. We analyzed LF surveillance data from January 2014 to December 2019 to describe the epidemiological pattern of the outb...Introduction: Annual outbreak of Lassa Fever (LF) has been reported in Ondo State over the years. We analyzed LF surveillance data from January 2014 to December 2019 to describe the epidemiological pattern of the outbreak. Method: Lassa fever dataset from January 2014 to December 2019 was obtained from the State Ministry of Health. Variables analyzed include date of onset of symptom, age, gender, place (Local Government Area, LGA) and outcome of laboratory test. Data were summarized using frequencies, proportions, chart and maps. Results: From January 2014 and December 2019, 2141 suspected LF cases were reported. Of these, 551 cases were laboratory confirmed with 134 deaths recorded. The LF cases (suspected vs. confirmed) reported increased in 2016 (73 vs. 19), 2017 (207 vs. 76), 2018 (452 vs. 159) and 2019 (856 vs. 285) respectively. Most of the confirmed cases (89.5%) were ≥15 years while more than half (53.7%) were males. Prior to 2016, only two LGAs (Owo and Ose) recorded continued transmission of the disease. However, between 2016 and 2019, the disease had spread to 8 neighboring LGAs (P < 0.001) with the CFR declining from 67% in 2015 to 20% in 2019. Conclusion: We found an unusual increase in the suspected LF cases reported between January 2016 and December 2019 with a corresponding increase in the confirmed cases and high annual case fatality rates. Hence, we recommend intensified surveillance activities to enhance timely reporting of cases and laboratory confirmation to ensure early commencement of treatment to reduce the case fatality rate.展开更多

Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that scores for poor health-related lifestyle, Type A behavior pattern, and presence of depression are independently associated with degree of mobile phone dependency. These findings suggest that persons with an unhealthy lifestyle, Type A behavior traits, or depression might benefit from mobile phone use guidance.展开更多

We processed th...Forest fires are one of the most important threats for forests in the State of Mexico. Therefore, understanding their geographical patterns is a priority for the design of forest management strategies. We processed the records obtained with the MOD14A2 product (for thermal anomalies and fire) of MODIS sensor. Such scenes correspond to dry seasons (from March 15 to June 30) from 2000 to 2012 in the State of Mexico. We analyzed such records in a GIS environment to learn their spatial patterns and establish their geographical correlations as a first step to understand the causal agents of forest fires. As a result, forest fires in the State of Mexico showed a clustered spatial trend with a southwest tendency and a slight spatial relation with total winter precipitation and maximal temperature in summer.展开更多

Here, we divide the states of machinery into two: 'good' and 'faulty', and the pattern recognition techniques are used to classify the running conditions of machinery. At the end of this paper, the authors present some test data, and from the results obtained, it's verified that the eigenvector selected is reliable and sensible to faults. An algorithm is proposed in this paper which integrates two two-class classifiers to detect idle state and utilizes a sliding window to achieve continuous outputs. The common spatial pattern (CSP) algorithm is used to extract features of EEG signals and the linear support vector machine (SVM) is utilized to serve as classifier. The algorithm is applied on dataset IVb of BCI competition Ⅲ, with a resulting mean square error of 0.66. The result indicates that the proposed algorithm is feasible in the first step of the development of asynchronous systems.展开更多

In this method, ...This paper presents a new method of damage condition assessment that allows accommodating other types of uncertainties due to ambiguity, vagueness, and fuzziness that are statistically nondescribable. In this method, healthy observations are used to construct a fury set representing sound performance characteristics. Additionally, the bounds on the similarities among the structural damage states are prescribed by using the state similarity matrix. Thus, an optimal group fuzzy sets representing damage states such as little, moderate, and severe damage can be inferred as an inverse problem from healthy observations only. The optimal group of damage fuzzy sets is used to classify a set of observations at any unknown state of damage using the principles of fitzzy pattern recognition based on an approximate principle . This method can be embedded into the system of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) to give advice about structural maintenance and life predictio comes from Reference [ 9 ] for damage pattern recognition is presented n. Finally, a case and discussed. The study, which compared result illustrates our method is more effective and general, so it is very practical in engineering.展开更多

It not only can track the quantity and location of the equ ipment of the whole organization, the more important is it can update the state of the equipment at real-time automatically. First,we design the static diagram(i.e. using UML class diagram to describe the basic state of the equipment). Then we consider its dynamic aspect, i.e., how th e state of the equipment to get changed according to the time. We use UML sequen ce diagram and state diagram to respectively describe the procedure of after pur chasing, transferring and discarding as useless of the equipment. Obviously, the manager can update the quantity and location of the equipment automatic ally. We character this pattern from the following five aspects: Problem: How the enterprise, organ, laboratory and school to track the quantity and location of the equipment. Circumstance: In some organizations, especially, in the manufactory or laborator y, when the number of the quantity and type is large or the distribution of the equipment is dispersed, they want to be able to track the quantity and location of the equipment. Forces: First, it is possible to the equipment be transferred or be discarded, n o matter when and where, the organization must be able to track the factual quan tity and location.Second, the solution must describe a basic semantic unit, that is, the solution must simple enough to apply it to various of circumstance, whi ch is the base of reusing.
