Only patients with PD who ...The long-term outcomes of 157 patients affected by Peyronie's disease (PD) who underwent penile straightening with Egydio's technique between January 2004 and December 2008 are reported. Only patients with PD who were stable for at least 6-12 months prior to surgery were enrolled in this study. Preoperative assessment included a dynamic echo colour Doppler ultrasound scan to evaluate the degree of penile deformity and the peak systolic velocity in the cavernosal arteries and an assessment of erectile function with the administration of the International Index of Erectile Function 5 (IIEF-5) questionnaire. Stretched penile length was recorded pre- and postoperatively. Surgical complications, cosmesis and sexual function, patient satisfaction and postoperative erectile function were assessed postoperatively at 3 months, I year and 2 years, respectively. After a median follow-up period of 20 months (range: 12-24 months), we found that mild residual curvature (12%) and glans hypoesthesia (3%) were the only causes of partial dissatisfaction. No rejection of the graft was observed. All patients recovered their ability to penetrate with no difficulty. In addition, an intraoperative average increase of 2.5 cm (range: 1.7-4.1 cm) in stretched penile length was recorded, with all patients engaging in penetrative sexual intercourse. In conclusion, this procedure represents a safe and reproducible technique for the correction of penile curvature resulting from PD and yields excellent cosmetic and functional results.展开更多

Objectives:The objective of this study was to assess the impact of two relaxation techniques,the Jacobson’s progressive muscle relaxation technique(JPMR),and the Benson’s relaxation technique(BRT),on the levels of s...Objectives:The objective of this study was to assess the impact of two relaxation techniques,the Jacobson’s progressive muscle relaxation technique(JPMR),and the Benson’s relaxation technique(BRT),on the levels of stress and anxiety experienced by patients undergoing coronary angioplasty.Materials and Methods:Quantitative research approach with quasi-experimental pre-test and posttest control group design was conducted with seventy coronary angioplasty patients from the Institute of Medical Science,and SUM Hospital,Bhubaneswar,Odisha.The participants were purposively selected and divided into Experimental Group 1(n=35)and Experimental Group 2(n=35).Each group received either BRT or JPMR for three consecutive days.Pretest and posttest data were collected using a structured demographic questionnaire and the modified depression anxiety stress scale-21.Results:Both BRT and JPMR significantly decreased the levels of stress and anxiety among patients undergoing angioplasty compared to baseline(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference between the two techniques based on Fisher’s exact P value.This suggests that both interventions are effective in reducing stress and anxiety among angioplasty patients.Conclusion:BRT or JPMR are noninvasive,nonpharmacological interventions that effectively reduce stress and anxiety in patients undergoing angioplasty.These findings underscore the importance of incorporating relaxation techniques into nursing practice and hospital programs to enhance patient care and promote holistic well-being post-angioplasty.展开更多

Methods Eight-seven c...Objective To observe the clinical effects on upper extremities function recovery of cerebral apoplexy induced hemiplegia by combination of JIN's 3-needle technique and motor function trai- ning. Methods Eight-seven cases of cerebral apoplexy induced hemiplegia were randomized into an observation group (44 cases) and a control group (43 cases). JIN's 3-needle technique and motor function training were both adopted for the observation group. Three temporal acupuncture points on the affected side were selected. Three lower arm points, namely Qfichi (曲池 LI 11 ), Waiguan (外关 TE 5) and Hegu ( 合谷 LI 4) were adopted for flaccid hemiplegia. While 3 upper arm points for relieving spasm, namely Jiquan (极泉HT 1), Chize (尺泽 LU 5) and Neiguan (内关 PC 6) were chosen for spastic hemiplegia. Motor function training was applied alone for the control group. Treating courses for both groups were 5 weeks. And scores of Brunnstrom and FugI-Meyer assessments of the affected limbs were analyzed. Results Improvement on scores of FugI-Meyer and Brunnstrom assessments were observed for both groups after the treatment(P〈0. 05, P〈0. 01 ). The post-treatment scores of the observation group was better than that of the control group after the treatment ( P〈0.05, P〈0.01 ). Conclusion Treat- ment of combination of JIN's 3-needle technique with motor function training can obviously improve the motor function of the upper extremities of patients with cerebral apoplexy induced hemiplegia.展开更多

The main question is the technical-surgical care during its execution aiming to achieve reparative results that can return to these women the desire to live with better quality of life and health. Method: We performed a retrospective study of all obese patients with severe gigantomastia who underwent reduction mammaplasty with an operative technique using the superior pedicle, with special care for the nipple-papillary grafts. The study was carried out at a single institution between 2001 and 2013, in a total of 30 cases. This operative technique was presented at first time in 1980, with no changes up to now. We emphasized the perfect decortication of the areola and nipples until they were translucent after the maneuvers of Schwartzman and subsequent grafts operated in both breasts. Results: Results were considered satisfactory, from the reparative and aesthetic point of view, emphasizing the degree of improvement observed in women undergoing technique. Discussion: We can say that during all this time of aesthetic and therapeutic-restorative surgery, due to its realization in a single surgical time, there was big impact on the aesthetics of patients and on their families, even taking into account possible complications in the post-operative. Conclusion: The superior pedicle technique, performed as described here, is a safe and reliable procedure in patients with severe gigantomastia.展开更多

The movement of interacting faults within the Earth’s crust during earthquakes may cause significant structural damage.Large earthquake fault surfaces are often planar or a combination of several planar fault segment...The movement of interacting faults within the Earth’s crust during earthquakes may cause significant structural damage.Large earthquake fault surfaces are often planar or a combination of several planar fault segments.This study analyses the interaction between a non-planar and a planar fault,where the faults are inclined,buried,creeping and strike-slip in nature.The non-planar fault is infinite and formed by two interconnected planar segments,while the planar fault is finite.The present analysis adduces the movement of interacting faults in a composite structure comprised of an elastic layer nested on a visco-elastic substrate of Maxwell medium.The significant effect of various affecting parameters viz.inclination of the faults,velocity of the fault movement,depth of the faults from the free surface,distance between the faults and the non-planarity of the fault has been discussed and also compared.The amount of stress and surface shear strain is restored after the creeping movement.The graphical representation of the effect of non-planarity of the fault on stress-strain accumulation has been established.Analytical solutions are obtained using Laplace transform and Green’s function techniques,supported by numerical simulations.The obtained results provide insights into fault interaction process and have important implications for assessing seismic hazard potential in viscoelastic media.The study of such earthquake fault dynamical models may give some ideas about the nature of stress-strain accumulation or release in the system and help us to observe the mechanism of lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary.展开更多

There were 22,666 patches;29.67% of the patches were roads. The human interference of buildings, roads and green space was a maximum;fragmentation of the highest was green space. The fragmentation of overall urban landscape was high;the diversity was low;the value of Shannon’s diversity index was 0.63;the value of Shannon’s evenness index was 0.70. All kinds of landscape distribution were not balanced, and lack of connectivity. Two hundred and fifty single first-order Arrhenius reactions are simulated to generate S2 pyrograms at three heating rates 25,15,and 5°C·min-1.The activation energy(E)and pre-exponential factor(A)of the reac...Two hundred and fifty single first-order Arrhenius reactions are simulated to generate S2 pyrograms at three heating rates 25,15,and 5°C·min-1.The activation energy(E)and pre-exponential factor(A)of the reactions simulated follow a long-established trend of those variable values displayed by shales and kerogens.The characteristics of the transformation fraction(TF)profiles(product generation window temperatures)of the simulated single reactions are compared to the TF profiles of recorded shale pyrograms generated by multiple reactions with different E-A values lying near the defined E-A trend.Important similarities and differences are observed between the TF profile values of the two datasets.The similarities support the spread of E-A values involved in shale pyrogram best fits.The differences are most likely explained by the complexity of the multiple kerogen first-order and second-order reactions contributing to the recorded shale pyrograms versus the simplicity and crispness of the single first-order reactions simulated.The results also justify the validity of using the previously described“variable E-A pyrogram-fitting method”of multi-heating-rate shale pyrograms enabling optimizers to choose multiple reactions from an unlimited range of E-A values.In contrast,further doubt is cast on the validity of the constant-A pyrogram-fitting method used by the Easy%Ro technique,in that a distribution of reactions with a single A value is unlikely to represent the complex variety of kerogen macerals observed in shale formations.TF profiles generated by the variable E-A pyrogram-fitting method lie close to the established E-A trend and are likely to provide more realistic TF generation window temperatures than TF profiles generated by the constant-A pyrogram-fitting method.展开更多
In view of the challenges posed by the nature of expansive soil to structural stability which makes it necessary in some cases to improve the soils before structures can be placed on them, there is a need to investiga...In view of the challenges posed by the nature of expansive soil to structural stability which makes it necessary in some cases to improve the soils before structures can be placed on them, there is a need to investigate modern trends in ground improvement techniques in order to determine their reliability. This study is thus aimed at using the reliability based approach to analyze the use of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) in combination with 1,2,3,4 Butane-tetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) for ground improvement. This study is necessary given the challenges posed by the nature of expansive soil to structural stability which makes it necessary in some cases to improve the soils before structures can be placed on them. Simplex lattice design was employed to build the design of experiment before experimental investigations were carried out on the PVA-BTCA treated soft soils. Reliability indices were computed on the basis of the 28<sup>th</sup> day unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of the treated soil. Reliability index models were developed using the Scheffe’s technique and optimized using excel solver. From analysis of results, reliability model developed proved adequate at 5% level of significance. PVA-BTCA combination provided a potential reliability or probability of success of 99.936% at components combination of: 98.4256% for soil, 1.2352% for PVA, 0.3392% for BTCA and 15.9934% for water. It was therefore recommended that financial implications of using PVA-BTCA for stabilization be compared to those of conventional methods, in order to compare their performance-cost ratio.展开更多

文摘Conception of graphic art,is widely increased in nowadays,because of persistent acquire of new ideas and art practices,which is key feature of modern art.As a result,variety of graphic art grew heavily-constantly acquiring new aspects and experimenting with new materials,but also not forgetting about classic techniques of graphic art.That is why Latvia’s contemporary art is rich with outstanding graphics artists,which is masters of their profession.But time goes and everything sees it’s end,and on Latvia’s art horizon start to appear new faces and new talents of Latvia’s graphics art,which already had their opportunity to demonstrate highest level of their mastery and creativity,not only in Latvia,but also on international level.Living in a rhythm of modern fast-paced technology and innovation era,Latvia’s graphic artists,still say“Yes!”,to classic techniques of graphic art-linocutting,lithography and drypointing.However,they are open-minded persons and like to experiment with new techniques(for example-digiprint),or if it is suitable for their idea-combine them,to reach their goal.Aim of this paper is to get acquainted with Latvia’s next-gen graphic artists,their ideas and views,as well with results of their creative,acquiring brief review of Latvia’s graphic trends in general.As a result reader will become familiar not only with Latvia’s domestic artists and their creativity,but also will get general review of the current trends in the world of graphic art,which is not only classic,but also very innovative,regarding of new materials and techniques.
文摘Kalman's Filter Technique for the separation of overlapping incisions of an a.c.oscillopolarogram is presented,the experimental verifications were carried out in various systems with the ions of Pb^(2+),Tl^+,In^(3+)and Cd^(2+).The results showed that the concentration of the depolarizer can be determined directly and easily with this technique in the presence of interference elements.

文摘Well cementing is an important step in petroleum engineering territory. Through many years study and research, China Nation Petroleum Corporation(abbreviated as CNPC) has made many good progresses in cementing process, and a series of cementing materials, cementing tools, and associated cementing techniques to them have been developed. Over the recent years, there have been significant improvements in application of single slurry system to super deep well, horizontal well, large displacement well and wells with large temperature span between cementing top and well bottom. Favorable results have been gained in field application of super high density cement slurry system and super low density cement slurry system. Application of conventional cementing tools and accessories has been the matured techniques, and breakthroughs have been made in liner hanger and swellable material.

文摘The movement of interacting faults within the Earth’s crust during earthquakes may cause significant structural damage.Large earthquake fault surfaces are often planar or a combination of several planar fault segments.This study analyses the interaction between a non-planar and a planar fault,where the faults are inclined,buried,creeping and strike-slip in nature.The non-planar fault is infinite and formed by two interconnected planar segments,while the planar fault is finite.The present analysis adduces the movement of interacting faults in a composite structure comprised of an elastic layer nested on a visco-elastic substrate of Maxwell medium.The significant effect of various affecting parameters viz.inclination of the faults,velocity of the fault movement,depth of the faults from the free surface,distance between the faults and the non-planarity of the fault has been discussed and also compared.The amount of stress and surface shear strain is restored after the creeping movement.The graphical representation of the effect of non-planarity of the fault on stress-strain accumulation has been established.Analytical solutions are obtained using Laplace transform and Green’s function techniques,supported by numerical simulations.The obtained results provide insights into fault interaction process and have important implications for assessing seismic hazard potential in viscoelastic media.The study of such earthquake fault dynamical models may give some ideas about the nature of stress-strain accumulation or release in the system and help us to observe the mechanism of lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary.
文摘To the Editor:Laparoscopic liver resection(LLR)is widely used as a standard procedure for liver malignancies and benign diseases.Consensus guidelines stated that LLR may be feasible and safe in experienced centers.Evidence has shown that LLR is less invasive and has bet-ter patient prognosis than conventional procedures[1].However,laparoscopic anatomic liver resection(LALR)such as segment 8(S8)resection is still challenging due to difficulties in segmental mapping and surgical techniques[2,3].Liver S8 is in a deep-seated area surrounded by the ribs and the diaphragm,and closely con-nected to the right and middle hepatic veins and inferior vena cava.Furthermore,the Glissonean pedicle of segment 8(G8)is lo-cated deep in the liver parenchyma,lacking anatomical landmarks,and making forceps manipulation difficult.Therefore,LALR-S8 has been described as the most challenging procedure[4].
文摘Study on landscape spatial pattern in the center of Chengdu City is based on the Landsat-8 image by using 3S technique and spatial pattern analysis software Fragstats 3.3. The results showed that there covered an area of 193.92 km<sup>2</sup> in the center of Chengdu City. 55.24% of the total area was made up of buildings, covering an area of 107.12 km<sup>2</sup>, and the overall landscape of impervious ground-based. There were 22,666 patches;29.67% of the patches were roads. The human interference of buildings, roads and green space was a maximum;fragmentation of the highest was green space. The fragmentation of overall urban landscape was high;the diversity was low;the value of Shannon’s diversity index was 0.63;the value of Shannon’s evenness index was 0.70. All kinds of landscape distribution were not balanced, and lack of connectivity. This research puts important reference for creating good urban landscape space and restoring the natural ecological environment in the western regions of China.

文摘The(un)forced(un)damped parametric pendulum oscillator(PPO)is analyzed analytically and numerically using some simple,effective,and more accurate techniques.In the first technique,the ansatz method is employed for analyzing the unforced damped PPO and for deriving some optimal and accurate analytical approximations in the form of angular Mathieu functions.In the second approach,some approximations to(un)forced damped PPO are obtained in the form of trigonometric functions using the ansatz method.In the third approach,He’s frequency-amplitude principle is applied for deriving some approximations to the(un)damped PPO.In the forth approach,He’s homotopy technique is employed for analyzing the forced(un)damped PPO numerically.In the fifth approach,the p-solution Method,which is constructed based on Krylov–Bogoliúbov Mitropolsky method,is introduced for deriving an approximation to the forced damped PPO.In the final approach,the hybrid Padé-finite difference method is carried out for analyzing the damped PPO numerically.All proposed techniques are compared to the fourth-order Runge–Kutta(RK4)numerical solution.Moreover,the global maximum residual distance error is estimated for checking the accuracy of the obtained approximations.The proposed methodologies and approximations can help many researchers in studying and investigating several nonlinear phenomena related to the oscillations that can arise in various branches of science,e.g.waves and oscillations in plasma physics.
文摘Two hundred and fifty single first-order Arrhenius reactions are simulated to generate S2 pyrograms at three heating rates 25,15,and 5°C·min-1.The activation energy(E)and pre-exponential factor(A)of the reactions simulated follow a long-established trend of those variable values displayed by shales and kerogens.The characteristics of the transformation fraction(TF)profiles(product generation window temperatures)of the simulated single reactions are compared to the TF profiles of recorded shale pyrograms generated by multiple reactions with different E-A values lying near the defined E-A trend.Important similarities and differences are observed between the TF profile values of the two datasets.The similarities support the spread of E-A values involved in shale pyrogram best fits.The differences are most likely explained by the complexity of the multiple kerogen first-order and second-order reactions contributing to the recorded shale pyrograms versus the simplicity and crispness of the single first-order reactions simulated.The results also justify the validity of using the previously described“variable E-A pyrogram-fitting method”of multi-heating-rate shale pyrograms enabling optimizers to choose multiple reactions from an unlimited range of E-A values.In contrast,further doubt is cast on the validity of the constant-A pyrogram-fitting method used by the Easy%Ro technique,in that a distribution of reactions with a single A value is unlikely to represent the complex variety of kerogen macerals observed in shale formations.TF profiles generated by the variable E-A pyrogram-fitting method lie close to the established E-A trend and are likely to provide more realistic TF generation window temperatures than TF profiles generated by the constant-A pyrogram-fitting method.
文摘In view of the challenges posed by the nature of expansive soil to structural stability which makes it necessary in some cases to improve the soils before structures can be placed on them, there is a need to investigate modern trends in ground improvement techniques in order to determine their reliability. This study is thus aimed at using the reliability based approach to analyze the use of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) in combination with 1,2,3,4 Butane-tetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) for ground improvement. This study is necessary given the challenges posed by the nature of expansive soil to structural stability which makes it necessary in some cases to improve the soils before structures can be placed on them. Simplex lattice design was employed to build the design of experiment before experimental investigations were carried out on the PVA-BTCA treated soft soils. Reliability indices were computed on the basis of the 28<sup>th</sup> day unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of the treated soil. Reliability index models were developed using the Scheffe’s technique and optimized using excel solver. From analysis of results, reliability model developed proved adequate at 5% level of significance. PVA-BTCA combination provided a potential reliability or probability of success of 99.936% at components combination of: 98.4256% for soil, 1.2352% for PVA, 0.3392% for BTCA and 15.9934% for water. It was therefore recommended that financial implications of using PVA-BTCA for stabilization be compared to those of conventional methods, in order to compare their performance-cost ratio.

文摘In this note, we estimate the maximum amplitude for the Solar Cycle 25. We use the curvature technique presented for earlier cycles by Verdes and coworkers. We further extrapolate the location of the solar maximum number of Sunspots, of which the prediction made is about 115 in the year 2025 and identify the arrival to the minimum in the year 2031, forecasting the main characteristics for the current Solar Cycle 25 and list a short comparison with a few other predictions.
