Purpose:We aimed to measure the variation in researchers’knowledge and attitudes towards bibliometric indicators.The focus is on mapping the heterogeneity of this metric-wiseness within and between disciplines.Design...Purpose:We aimed to measure the variation in researchers’knowledge and attitudes towards bibliometric indicators.The focus is on mapping the heterogeneity of this metric-wiseness within and between disciplines.Design/methodology/approach:An exploratory survey is administered to researchers at the Sapienza University of Rome,one of Europe’s oldest and largest generalist universities.To measure metric-wiseness,we use attitude statements that are evaluated by a 5-point Likert scale.Moreover,we analyze documents of recent initiatives on assessment reform to shed light on how researchers’heterogeneous attitudes regarding and knowledge of bibliometric indicators are taken into account.Findings:We found great heterogeneity in researchers’metric-wiseness across scientific disciplines.In addition,within each discipline,we observed both supporters and critics of bibliometric indicators.From the document analysis,we found no reference to individual heterogeneity concerning researchers’metric wiseness.Research limitations:We used a self-selected sample of researchers from one Italian university as an exploratory case.Further research is needed to check the generalizability of our findings.Practical implications:To gain sufficient support for research evaluation practices,it is key to consider researchers’diverse attitudes towards indicators.Originality/value:We contribute to the current debate on reforming research assessment by providing a novel empirical measurement of researchers’knowledge and attitudes towards bibliometric indicators and discussing the importance of the obtained results for improving current research evaluation systems.展开更多

AIM:To conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of age-related macular degeneration(AMD)research from 2002 to 2022,identifying key contributing countries,institutions,authors,journals,and research hotspots to inf...AIM:To conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of age-related macular degeneration(AMD)research from 2002 to 2022,identifying key contributing countries,institutions,authors,journals,and research hotspots to inform future research directions.METHODS:Publications related to AMD were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection(WoSCC)database for the period January 1,2002,to December 31,2022.The search was limited to English-language articles and reviews.Bibliometric analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel 2021 for data management and annual publication analysis.Visualization and network analyses were conducted using VOSviewer,CiteSpace,and the Bibliometrix package in R.Collaboration networks among countries,institutions,authors,and journals were mapped.Keywords were analyzed for co-occurrence to identify research hotspots.Metrics such as H-index,total link strength(TLS),and citation counts were used to assess impact.RESULTS:A total of 16715 publications were analyzed,showing a consistent increase in AMD research output over the past 20y,peaking at 1445 publications in 2021.The United States was the leading contributor with 31.8%of total publications,followed by China and the United Kingdom.The University of Melbourne emerged as the most productive institution with the highest TLS,indicating strong international collaborations.Professor Frank G.Holz was identified as the most influential author based on H-index and publication count.Investigative Ophthalmology&Visual Science was the most prolific journal and had the highest citation impact.Keyword co-occurrence analysis revealed four main research clusters:pathogenesis,therapy,epidemiology,and diagnosis.Emerging research hotspots included anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)therapies,optical coherence tomography angiography,and artificial intelligence(AI)applications in diagnosis.CONCLUSION:The bibliometric analysis highlights significant growth and collaborative efforts in AMD research globally.Key contributors have advanced understanding in pathogenesis,therapeutic strategies,epidemiology,and diagnostic technologies.Future research should focus on interdisciplinary collaborations,novel therapeutic targets,personalized medicine,and technological innovations such as AI to effectively address the challenges posed by AMD.展开更多

Background Medical informatics accumulated vast amounts of data for clinical diagnosis and treatment.However,limited access to follow-up data and the difficulty in integrating data across diverse platforms continue to...Background Medical informatics accumulated vast amounts of data for clinical diagnosis and treatment.However,limited access to follow-up data and the difficulty in integrating data across diverse platforms continue to pose significant barriers to clinical research progress.In response,our research team has embarked on the development of a specialized clinical research database for cardiology,thereby establishing a comprehensive digital platform that facilitates both clinical decision-making and research endeavors.Methods The database incorporated actual clinical data from patients who received treatment at the Cardiovascular Medicine Department of Chinese PLA General Hospital from 2012 to 2021.It included comprehensive data on patients'basic information,medical history,non-invasive imaging studies,laboratory test results,as well as peri-procedural information related to interventional surgeries,extracted from the Hospital Information System.Additionally,an innovative artificial intelligence(AI)-powered interactive follow-up system had been developed,ensuring that nearly all myocardial infarction patients received at least one post-discharge follow-up,thereby achieving comprehensive data management throughout the entire care continuum for highrisk patients.Results This database integrates extensive cross-sectional and longitudinal patient data,with a focus on higher-risk acute coronary syndrome patients.It achieves the integration of structured and unstructured clinical data,while innovatively incorporating AI and automatic speech recognition technologies to enhance data integration and workflow efficiency.It creates a comprehensive patient view,thereby improving diagnostic and follow-up quality,and provides high-quality data to support clinical research.Despite limitations in unstructured data standardization and biological sample integrity,the database's development is accompanied by ongoing optimization efforts.Conclusion The cardiovascular specialty clinical database is a comprehensive digital archive integrating clinical treatment and research,which facilitates the digital and intelligent transformation of clinical diagnosis and treatment processes.It supports clinical decision-making and offers data support and potential research directions for the specialized management of cardiovascular diseases.展开更多
Objective To explore potential keywords,research clusters,collaborative pattern,and research trends in the field of medical technology management(MTM)through bibliometric analysis,providing insights for researchers,po...Objective To explore potential keywords,research clusters,collaborative pattern,and research trends in the field of medical technology management(MTM)through bibliometric analysis,providing insights for researchers,policy makers,and hospital administrators.Methods A retrieval formula was applied to the title,abstract,and keywords in the Web of Science(WoS)Core Collection,along with system-recommended terms,to identify articles on MTM.A total of 181 articles published between 1974 and 2022 were retained for quantitative analysis.The global trend of research output;total citations,average citations,and H-index;and bibliographic coupling,co-authorship,and keyword co-occurrence were analyzed using VOSviewer.Results The number of articles on MTM has been steadily increasing year by year.The focus of research has shifted from addressing basic medical needs to prioritizing emergency response and medical information security.The United States,Italy,and the United Kingdom emerged as the main contributors,with the United States leading in both volume of publications(60 articles)and academic impact(H-index=21).Authors from the United Kingdom and the United States led the way in cross-border cooperation.The top five institutions,ranked by total link strength among cross-institutional authors,were primarily located in Canada and Spain.Conclusions The field of MTM has experienced stable growth over the past three decades(1993-2022).The shift of research focus has prompted a heightened emphasis on protecting patient privacy and ensuring the security of medical data.Future research should emphasize interdisciplinary and professional collaboration,as well as international cooperation and open sharing of knowledge.展开更多

文摘Google Gemini 1.5 Flash scores were compared with ChatGPT 4o-mini on evaluations of(a)51 of the author’s journal articles and(b)up to 200 articles in each of 34 field-based Units of Assessment(UoAs)from the UK Research Excellence Framework(REF)2021.From(a),the results suggest that Gemini 1.5 Flash,unlike ChatGPT 4o-mini,may work better when fed with a PDF or article full text,rather than just the title and abstract.From(b),Gemini 1.5 Flash seems to be marginally less able to predict an article’s research quality(using a departmental quality proxy indicator)than ChatGPT 4o-mini,although the differences are small,and both have similar disciplinary variations in this ability.Averaging multiple runs of Gemini 1.5 Flash improves the scores.

文摘AIM:To conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of age-related macular degeneration(AMD)research from 2002 to 2022,identifying key contributing countries,institutions,authors,journals,and research hotspots to inform future research directions.METHODS:Publications related to AMD were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection(WoSCC)database for the period January 1,2002,to December 31,2022.The search was limited to English-language articles and reviews.Bibliometric analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel 2021 for data management and annual publication analysis.Visualization and network analyses were conducted using VOSviewer,CiteSpace,and the Bibliometrix package in R.Collaboration networks among countries,institutions,authors,and journals were mapped.Keywords were analyzed for co-occurrence to identify research hotspots.Metrics such as H-index,total link strength(TLS),and citation counts were used to assess impact.RESULTS:A total of 16715 publications were analyzed,showing a consistent increase in AMD research output over the past 20y,peaking at 1445 publications in 2021.The United States was the leading contributor with 31.8%of total publications,followed by China and the United Kingdom.The University of Melbourne emerged as the most productive institution with the highest TLS,indicating strong international collaborations.Professor Frank G.Holz was identified as the most influential author based on H-index and publication count.Investigative Ophthalmology&Visual Science was the most prolific journal and had the highest citation impact.Keyword co-occurrence analysis revealed four main research clusters:pathogenesis,therapy,epidemiology,and diagnosis.Emerging research hotspots included anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)therapies,optical coherence tomography angiography,and artificial intelligence(AI)applications in diagnosis.CONCLUSION:The bibliometric analysis highlights significant growth and collaborative efforts in AMD research globally.Key contributors have advanced understanding in pathogenesis,therapeutic strategies,epidemiology,and diagnostic technologies.Future research should focus on interdisciplinary collaborations,novel therapeutic targets,personalized medicine,and technological innovations such as AI to effectively address the challenges posed by AMD.

文摘Teacher professional identity is a comprehensive reflection of teachers’role perception,emotional experiences,and behavioral tendencies towards their profession.It serves as an intrinsic driving force for teachers’professional development and is also a crucial issue in teacher education research.From a global perspective,this study systematically reviews and examines relevant research on the professional identity of international Chinese language teachers(ICLTs).A comparative analysis is conducted between Chinese and foreign scholars’research in terms of theoretical foundations,research subjects,research content,and research methodologies.This comprehensive overview of the current research landscape in this field,along with a summary of existing achievements and identified problems,facilitates the transformation of fragmented research findings on ICLTs’professional identity into a systematic understanding and reveals research gaps.Building upon this foundation,the study proposes future research prospects for the professional identity of ICLTs from aspects such as the construction of a cross-cultural perspective-based teacher professional identity system,the transformation of teacher professional identity in the context of digital transformation,and case studies on ICLTs’professional identity.The aim is to promote high-quality development in both theory and practice of international Chinese language education.

文摘Background Medical informatics accumulated vast amounts of data for clinical diagnosis and treatment.However,limited access to follow-up data and the difficulty in integrating data across diverse platforms continue to pose significant barriers to clinical research progress.In response,our research team has embarked on the development of a specialized clinical research database for cardiology,thereby establishing a comprehensive digital platform that facilitates both clinical decision-making and research endeavors.Methods The database incorporated actual clinical data from patients who received treatment at the Cardiovascular Medicine Department of Chinese PLA General Hospital from 2012 to 2021.It included comprehensive data on patients'basic information,medical history,non-invasive imaging studies,laboratory test results,as well as peri-procedural information related to interventional surgeries,extracted from the Hospital Information System.Additionally,an innovative artificial intelligence(AI)-powered interactive follow-up system had been developed,ensuring that nearly all myocardial infarction patients received at least one post-discharge follow-up,thereby achieving comprehensive data management throughout the entire care continuum for highrisk patients.Results This database integrates extensive cross-sectional and longitudinal patient data,with a focus on higher-risk acute coronary syndrome patients.It achieves the integration of structured and unstructured clinical data,while innovatively incorporating AI and automatic speech recognition technologies to enhance data integration and workflow efficiency.It creates a comprehensive patient view,thereby improving diagnostic and follow-up quality,and provides high-quality data to support clinical research.Despite limitations in unstructured data standardization and biological sample integrity,the database's development is accompanied by ongoing optimization efforts.Conclusion The cardiovascular specialty clinical database is a comprehensive digital archive integrating clinical treatment and research,which facilitates the digital and intelligent transformation of clinical diagnosis and treatment processes.It supports clinical decision-making and offers data support and potential research directions for the specialized management of cardiovascular diseases.
文摘Objective To explore potential keywords,research clusters,collaborative pattern,and research trends in the field of medical technology management(MTM)through bibliometric analysis,providing insights for researchers,policy makers,and hospital administrators.Methods A retrieval formula was applied to the title,abstract,and keywords in the Web of Science(WoS)Core Collection,along with system-recommended terms,to identify articles on MTM.A total of 181 articles published between 1974 and 2022 were retained for quantitative analysis.The global trend of research output;total citations,average citations,and H-index;and bibliographic coupling,co-authorship,and keyword co-occurrence were analyzed using VOSviewer.Results The number of articles on MTM has been steadily increasing year by year.The focus of research has shifted from addressing basic medical needs to prioritizing emergency response and medical information security.The United States,Italy,and the United Kingdom emerged as the main contributors,with the United States leading in both volume of publications(60 articles)and academic impact(H-index=21).Authors from the United Kingdom and the United States led the way in cross-border cooperation.The top five institutions,ranked by total link strength among cross-institutional authors,were primarily located in Canada and Spain.Conclusions The field of MTM has experienced stable growth over the past three decades(1993-2022).The shift of research focus has prompted a heightened emphasis on protecting patient privacy and ensuring the security of medical data.Future research should emphasize interdisciplinary and professional collaboration,as well as international cooperation and open sharing of knowledge.
