Building a superhydrophobic coating on a carbon steel substrate is an effective strategy for enhancing metal protection.A practical approach to producing a series of superhydrophobic Ni/SiO_(2)composite coatings(SSN)u...Building a superhydrophobic coating on a carbon steel substrate is an effective strategy for enhancing metal protection.A practical approach to producing a series of superhydrophobic Ni/SiO_(2)composite coatings(SSN)using one-step electrodeposition method is shown.The effect of processing parameters on surface structure and wettability was thoroughly explored,resulting in the identification of three typical surface morphologies.The prepared coating with petal-like structure(SSN-3)obtained under the optimum parameters exhibited the best water repellency,achieving a contact angle of 162.7°and a sliding angle of 4.1°.The droplet bouncing behavior on SSN coatings surface was studied,and the delayed icing time was recorded.Meanwhile,the mechanical stability and chemical corrosion resistance of SSN coatings were focused.The superhydrophobic SSN-3 coating with unique surface structure exhibited excellent reliability.The anticorrosion mechanism of SSN-3 coating was discussed,and its corrosion protection efficiency was up to 98.5%.The superior properties of the superhydrophobic SSN-3 coating make it suitable for diverse applications.展开更多
By using CeO2 particles instead of part of Al2O3 particles as filler, the CeO2 was successfully entrapped into the outer layer of the chromizing coatings on the as-deposited nanocrystalline (NC) and microcrystalline...By using CeO2 particles instead of part of Al2O3 particles as filler, the CeO2 was successfully entrapped into the outer layer of the chromizing coatings on the as-deposited nanocrystalline (NC) and microcrystalline (MC) Ni films using a conventional pack-cementation method at 800 °C. For comparison, chromizing was also performed under the same condition on MC Ni film using Al2O3 as filler without CeO2 particles. SEM/EDX and TEM results indicate that the refinement of Ni grain and CeO2 entrapped into the chromizing coatings refine the grain of the chromizing coating. Oxidation at 900 °C indicates that compared with the CeO2-free chromizing coating, the CeO2-dispersed chromizing coating exhibits an increased oxidation resistance. For the CeO2-dispersed chromizing coating, the refinement of Ni grain size significantly decreases the transient-oxidation scaling rate of the chromizing coatings. Together with this, the CeO2-dispersed chromizing coating formed on NC Ni exhibits a better oxidation resistance.展开更多

With increasing laser power and decreasing traverse speed in the ranges of 200-700 W and 5-30 mm/s respectively, the melted track grew in width and depth. In the optimum range of laser parameters, a homogeneous remelted layer without voids, cavities, unmelted particles and microcracks was formed. On the surface of remelted layers, Al203 and YAIO3 were detected. As a result of isothermal oxidation tests, weight gains of laser remelted coatings were obviously lower than that only plasma sprayed, especially laser remelted NiCrAlY-Al2O3 coatings. The effects of laser remelting and incorporation of A12O3 second phase in N1CrAlY matrix on high temperature oxidation resistance were discussed.展开更多

In the present study, the sliding wear tests of CeO_2 modified WC-12 Co coatings were conducted at temperature of 450, 550 and 650 ℃. The wear loss and friction coefficient were recorded. The morphologies of wear tracks were observed every 1 h to investigate the dynamic wear mechanisms. The results show that the volume wear loss decreases with temperature increasing.The lowest volume wear loss is obtained at the temperature of 650 ℃ due to oxide films generated in the process of wearing. The wear mechanism is different at the temperature of 450, 550 and 650 0 C. Micro cutting wear, abrasive wear and oxidation wear dominate the wear mechanism at 450, 550 and 650 ℃,respectively. Abrasive wear and oxidation wear are the wear mechanisms at various temperatures.展开更多

The effect of current and Ti3Si(AI)C2 concentration in the solution on the composition, grain size, preferred orientation and surface morphology of the electrodeposited coatings were investigated. (200)-oriented Ni coatings could be deposited at high current (62.5 mA), while (220)-oriented Ni coatings could be obtained at low current (25 mA). However, the presence of Ti3Si(Al)C2 particles disturbed the surface texture of Ni crystallites in the composite coatings. Based on the simulated morphology and the observed microstructure, the mechanisms for the change of preferred orientation and crystallite shapes in the presence of Ti3Si(Al)C2 particles were discussed. Moreover, microhardness and friction properties of pure nickel and Ni/Ti3Si(Al)C2 composite coatings were also compared.展开更多

The relationship among the composition, structure and property of the coatings are investiga ted by means of optical microscope, scanning electronic microscope and the experiments of thermal shock resistance cycling and high temperature oxidation resistance. The results show that the structure design of introdu cing a transition layer between Ni alloy substrate and ZrO 2 ceramic coating guarantees the high quality and properties of the coatings; ZrO 2 coatings doped with a little SiO 2 possesses better thermal shock resistance and more excellent hot corrosion resistance as compared with ZrO 2 coating materials without SiO 2 ;the improvement in performance of ZrO 2 coating doped with SiO 2 is due to forming more dense coating structure by self closing effects of the flaws and pores in the ZrO 2 coatings.展开更多

The study depicts the mass gain kinetics and magnetic properties of uncoated and NiCr-modified magnets oxidized at high temperature(500 ℃) in air for 200 h. The oxidation test results illustrate that the mass gain of uncoated magnet is6.95 mg·cm^(-2) which is more than that(0.08 mg·cm^(-2)) of coated magnet after 200 h. For the magnetic properties concerned, there is a great loss for uncoated magnet, while for coated magnet, magnetic properties do not change much. The study of uncoated magnet through X-ray diffraction(XRD) and electron probe microanalysis(EPMA) shows that the invasion of oxygen at high temperature leads to the loss of magnetic properties by changing the microstructure of magnet.展开更多

The cenospheres are characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) during and after the coating process. Relatively uniform coating is obtained under the given coating conditions. The possible mechanism of electroless Ni-Co-P-coating of cenospheres utilizing Ag(NH3)2+ activator is suggested. The high temperature oxidation resistance of RE Ni W B B 4C MoS 2 composite coating, the effects of electrodeposition conditions on the morphologies of the coating and the effect of heat treatment temperature on its h...The high temperature oxidation resistance of RE Ni W B B 4C MoS 2 composite coating, the effects of electrodeposition conditions on the morphologies of the coating and the effect of heat treatment temperature on its hardness, abrasion resistance and phase structure were investigated by using scanning electron microscope(SEM), X ray diffractometer, microhardness tester and abrasion machine. The results show that the oxidation degree of RE Ni W B B 4C MoS 2 composite coating is small when the temperature is lower than 700 ℃, but it increases sharply when the temperature is higher than 700 ℃. The hardness of RE Ni W B B 4C MoS 2 composite coating increases with increasing heat treatment temperature, it comes up to the maximum value at 400 ℃,but it decreases gradually if the temperature rises continuously. The most favourable abrasion resistance was attained after RE Ni W B B 4C MoS 2 composite coating being heat treated at 400 ℃. Without heat treating, it is mainly amorphous and partially crystallized, but wholly crystallized after being heat treated at 500 ℃. RE in the composite coating is in the form of CeO 2 and additions of CeO 2 and B 4C can enhance the thermostability of RE Ni W B B 4C MoS 2 composite coating.展开更多

The results showed that the corrosion of all composite coatings was accelerated under NaCl deposits, and the corrosion products were rather porous with poor adherence to the matrix. Al2O3 particles in the coatings can refine the grain size and improve the high temperature corrosion resistance of the coatings. The oxidation resistance and microstructure of the...The outermost coating with single phase Ni2Al3 was obtained on copper surface by electrodepositing nickel followed by slurry pack aluminizing at 800 °C for 12 h. The oxidation resistance and microstructure of the coating oxidized in ambient air at 1000 °C for 25-250 h were investigated using SEM, X-ray diffraction and optical microscope methods. The results show that the copper with single phase Ni2Al3 coating possesses the best high temperature oxidation resistance, and the mass gain of the coating is 1/15 that of pure copper and 1/2 that of nickel coating, respectively. The specimen surface after being oxidized for 25 h still comprises Ni2Al3 phase. However, when the time of oxidizing treatment increases to 50 h, the Ni Al phase is formed. It is also found that the Ni2Al3 phase completely turns into Ni Al phase after oxidizing treatment for 100 h and above. The Ni Al coating shows excellent high temperature oxidation resistance when oxidation time is 250 h.展开更多
