The chloride penetration resistance of cement-based grout materials was improved by nano-silica emulsion.Specimens of mixtures containing different nano-silica particles or emulsions were exposed in sodium chloride solutions of specific concentrations with different test ages.Hardened properties of the mixes were assessed in terms of weight loss and compressive strength.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)of mixes were performed to analysis the phase evolution and microstructure. The results demonstrated that the introduction of nano-SiO_(2) emulsion significantly decreased the compressive strength loss and calcium hydroxide(CH)crystal content of hydration production, and then enhanced the resistance of cement-based grouting materials to chloride ion penetration. This improvement derives from the filling and pozzolanic effects of nano-SiO_(2) particles, which were incorporated via an emulsion and attributed to a well dispersion in grouting matrix. 展开更多

A new adsorbent was successfully prepared by hydrothermal treatment and chemical activation through coal gasification fine slag(CGFS)and blue algae(BA)as raw materials and used for CO_(2)capture.The CO_(2)chemisorption capacity of the adsorbent was further enhanced by taking advantage of the nitrogenous bases contained in the BA.In the hydrothermal process, the addition of BA significantly increased the content of pyrrole nitrogen in the adsorbent. In the activation process, pyrrole nitrogen gradually changed into pyridine nitrogen and graphite nitrogen.Increased BA addition result in a higher specific surface area and microporosity of the adsorbent. The CO_(2)adsorption performance test proved that the CGFS-50%-CA sample has the strongest CO_(2)adsorption capacity at low temperature,up to 15.59 cm^(3)/g,which is mainly through physical adsorption, and the CGFS-10%-CA sample has the strongest CO_(2)adsorption capacity at high temperature,up to 7.31 cm^(3)/g,which is mainly through chemical adsorption.CO_(2)uptake of the CGFS-10%-CA sample was well maintained after 10 cycles, with regeneration efficiencies above 99%.The results indicate that the novel adsorbents with coexistence of physical and chemical adsorption have great potential for CO_(2)adsorption applications. 展开更多

Capturing of ambient energy is emerging as a transformative area in energy technology, potentially replacing batteries or significantly extending their lifespan.Harnessing of energy from ambient sources presents a significant opportunity to support sustainable development while mitigating environmental issues.Repurposing energy that would otherwise be wasted from highconsumption systems such as engines and industrial furnaces is essential for reducing ecological footprints and moving toward carbon-neutral goals.Furthermore, compact energy harvesting technologies will play a pivotal role in powering the rapidly expanding Internet of Things, enabling innovative advancements in smart homes, cities, industries, and health care that elevate our living standards. To achieve significant advancements in energy harvesting technologies, the development of innovative materials is crucial for converting ambient energy into electricity. In this regard,two-dimensional(2D)materials,a rising star in the material world, are profoundly and technologically intriguing for energy harvesting. The exceptional atomic thickness, high surface-tovolume ratio, flexibility, and tunable band gap effectively enhance their electronic, optical, and chemical properties, making them a potential candidate for use in flexible electronics and wearable energy harvesting technologies.Consequently, these unique properties of 2D materials remarkably enhance their energy harvesting capabilities, including photovoltaic, triboelectric, thermoelectric, and piezoelectric energy harvesting. Here,we present a tutorial-style review of 2D materials for harvesting energy from different ambient sources(aimed particularly at guiding and educating researchers, especially those new to the field),which starts with a brief overview of the promising properties of 2D materials for energy harvesting, then looks deeply into its advantages as compared to traditional materials along with their 3D counterparts, followed by providing insight into the mechanisms and performance of 2D material-based energy harvesters in portable/wearable electronics, and finally, based on current progress,an overview of the challenges along with corresponding strategies are identified and discussed. 展开更多

Herein, the effect of the Ru:Ni bimetallic composition in dual-function materials(DFMs)for the integrated CO_(2)capture and methanation process(ICCU-Methanation)is systematically evaluated and combined with a thorough material characterization,as well as a mechanistic(in-situ diffuse reflectance infrared fourier-transform spectroscopy(in-situ DRIFTS))and computational(computational fluid dynamics(CFD)modelling)investigation,in order to improve the performance of Ni-based DFMs.The bimetallic DFMs are comprised of a main Ni active metallic phase(20 wt%)and are modified with low Ru loadings in the 0.1-1 wt%range(to keep the material cost low),supported on Na_(2)O/Al_(2)O_(3).It is shown that the addition of even a very low Ru loading(0.1-0.2 wt%)can drastically improve the material reducibility, exposing a significantly higher amount of surface-active metallic sites, with Ru being highly dispersed over the support and the Ni phase, while also forming some small Ru particles. This manifests in a significant enhancement in the CH_(4)yield and the CH_(4)production kinetics during ICCU-Methanation(which mainly proceeds via formate intermediates),with 0.2 wt%Ru addition leading to the best results. This bimetallic DFM also shows high stability and a relatively good performance under an oxidizing CO_(2)capture atmosphere. The formation rate of CH_(4)during hydrogenation is then further validated via CFD modelling and the developed model is subsequently applied in the prediction of the effect of other parameters, including the inlet H_(2)concentration,inlet flow rate,dual-fu nction material weight, and reactor internal diameter. 展开更多

Two-dimensional (2D) materials have attracted significant attention as resistive switching materials for two-terminal non-volatile memory devices, often referred to as memristors, due to their potential for achieving fast switching speeds and low power consumption. Their excellent gate tunability in electronic properties also enables hybrid devices combining the functionality of memory devices and transistors, with the possibility of realizing large-scale memristive crossbar arrays with high integration density. To facilitate the use of 2D materials in practical memristor applications, scalable synthesis of 2D materials with high electronic quality is critical. In addition, low-temperature integration for complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) back-end-of-line (BEOL) integration is important for embedded memory applications. Solution-based exfoliation has been actively explored as a facile, cost-effective method for the mass production and low-temperature integration of 2D materials. However, the films produced from the resulting 2D nanosheet dispersions exhibited poor electrical properties in the early stages of research, thereby hindering their use in electronic devices. Recent progress in the exfoliation process and post-processing has led to significant improvements in the electronic performance of solution-processed 2D materials, driving increased adoption of these materials in memristor research. In this review article, we provide a thorough overview of the progress and current status of memristive devices utilizing solution-processed 2D resistive switching layers. We begin by introducing the electrical characteristics and resistive switching mechanisms of memristors fabricated with conventional materials to lay the groundwork for understanding memristive behavior in 2D materials. Representative solution-based exfoliation and film formation techniques are also introduced, emphasizing the benefits of these approaches for obtaining scalable 2D material films compared to conventional methods such as mechanical exfoliation and chemical vapor deposition. Finally, we explore the electrical characteristics, resistive switching mechanisms, and applications of solution-processed 2D memristive devices, discussing their advantages and remaining challenges. 展开更多

Although manganese-based oxide is regarded as a promising cathode material for zincion hybrid supercapacitors(ZHSCs),its practical application is hindered by slow zinc ion diffusion and the instability of MnO_(2).To overcome this obstacle,a δ-MnO_(2)/MXene heterostructure was created using a simple one-step process under gentle condition. The ZHSC was assembled using this heterostructure as the cathode, activated carbon(AC)as the anode and 2 mol·L−1 ZnSO_(4) as the electrolyte. The resultingδ-MnO_(2)/MXene//ZnSO4//AC ZHSC shows a maximum specific capacitance of 97.4 F·g^(−1) and an energy density of 32.27 Wh·kg^(−1) at the best cathode-to-anode mass ratio.Ex situ characterizations reveal the reversible energy storage mechanism combing Zn^(2+)insertion/extraction in the cathode, ion adsorption and desorption on the anode surface, and partial reversible formation and dissolution of Zn_(4)SO_(4)(OH)_(6)·5H_(2)O(ZHS)components on both electrodes.Adding of Mn^(2+)to the electrolyte reduced Mn dissolution, improving the ZHSC’s specific capacitance and energy density to 140.4 F·g^(−1) and 49.36 Wh·kg^(−1),respectively,while also enhancing its rate performance and cyclability. The improved electrochemical reaction kinetics was verified through various tests. The results suggest that the δ-MnO_(2)/MXene heterostructure has great potential as a high-performance cathode material for ZHSCs. 展开更多
