文摘In this paper,a tunable metamaterial absorber based on a Dirac semimetal is proposed. It consists of three different structures, from top to bottom, namely a double semicircular Dirac semimetal resonator,a silicon dioxide substrate and a continuous vanadium dioxide(VO_(2))reflector layer. When the Fermi energy level of the Dirac semimetal is 10 meV,the absorber absorbs more than 90%in the 39.06-84.76 THz range.Firstly, taking advantage of the tunability of the conductivity of the Dirac semimetal, dynamic tuning of the absorption frequency can be achieved by changing the Fermi energy level of the Dirac semimetal without the need to optimise the geometry and remanufacture the structure.Secondly, the structure has been improved by the addition of the phase change material VO_(2),resulting in a much higher absorption performance of the absorber.Since VO_(2)is a temperature-sensitive metal oxide with an insulating phase below the phase transition temperature(about 68℃)and a metallic phase above the phase transition temperature, this paper also analyses the effect of VO_(2)on the absorptive performance at different temperatures, with the aim of further improving absorber performance.

文摘In this review,we propose a comprehensive overview of additive manufacturing(AM)technologies and design possibilities in manufacturing metamaterials for various applications in the biomedical field,of which many are inspired by nature itself. It describes how new AM technologies(e.g.continuous liquid interface production and multiphoton polymerization, etc)and recent developments in more mature AM technologies(e.g.powder bed fusion, stereolithography, and extrusion-based bioprinting(EBB),etc)lead to more precise, efficient, and personalized biomedical components.EBB is a revolutionary topic creating intricate models with remarkable mechanical compatibility of metamaterials, for instance, stress elimination for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, negative or zero Poisson’s ratio.By exploiting the designs of porous structures(e.g.truss,triply periodic minimal surface,plant/animal-inspired,and functionally graded lattices,etc),AM-made bioactive bone implants, artificial tissues, and organs are made for tissue replacement. The material palette of the AM metamaterials has high diversity nowadays, ranging from alloys and metals(e.g.cobalt-chromium alloys and titanium, etc)to polymers(e.g.biodegradable polycaprolactone and polymethyl methacrylate, etc),which could be even integrated within bioactive ceramics. These advancements are driving the progress of the biomedical field, improving human health and quality of life.
文摘Lignocellulosic materials(LCMs),abundant biomass residues, pose significant environmental challenges when improperly disposed of.LCMs,such as sugarcane bagasse, rice straw, saw dust and agricultural residues, are abun-dant but often burned, contributing to air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. This review explores the potential of transforming these materials into high-value carbon nanomaterials(CNMs).We explore the potential of transforming these materials into high-value CNMs.By employing techniques like carbonization and activa-tion,LCMs can be converted into various CNMs,including carbon nanotubes(CNTs),graphene(G),graphene oxide(GO),carbon quantum dots(CQDs),nanodiamonds(NDs),fullerenes(F),carbon nanofibers(CNFs),and others.Hybridizing different carbon allotropes further enhances their properties.CNMs derived from cellulose, lignin, and hemicellulose exhibit promising applications in diversefields. For instance,CNTs can be used in energy storage devices like batteries and supercapacitors due to their exceptional electrical conductivity and mechanical strength.Additionally,CNTs can be incorporated into recycled paper as afire retardant additive, enhancing itsflame resistance.G,renowned for its high surface area and excellent electrical conductivity, finds applications in electronics, sensors, catalysis, and water treatment, where it can be used to adsorb heavy metal ions.CQDs,owing to their unique optical properties, are used in bioimaging, drug delivery, and optoelectronic devices.By harnessing the potential of LCMs,we can not only mitigate environmental concerns but also contri-bute to a sustainable future.Continued research is essential to optimize synthesis methods, explore novel applica-tions,and unlock the full potential of these versatile materials.
文摘Chloride ions(Cl^(-))have been shown to impact the long-lasting nature of reinforced concrete.However,Cl^(-)that are already bound inside the concrete will not lead to the deterioration of the concrete’s characteristics. The composition of the cement-based material, including the type of cement and auxiliary materials, greatly influences the ability of the material to bind Cl^(-),and varied components result in varying binding beha-vior of the Cl^(-).Simultaneously,the Cl^(-)binding process in concrete is influenced by both the internal and exterior surroundings,as well as the curing practices. These factors impact the hydration process of the cement and the internal pore structure of the concrete.Currently, mathematical theories and molecular dynamics simulations have increasingly been employed as the prevalent methods for examining the binding behaviors of Cl^(-)in concrete. These techniques are extensively utilized for predicting the lifespan and conducting microscopic studies of reinforced concrete in Cl^(-)settings.This work proposes recommendations for future research based on a summary of experimental and simulation investigations on Cl^(-)binding.Which will offer theoretical guidance for studying the binding of Cl^(-)in cement-based materials.

文摘Columnar jointed rock mass(CJRM)combines and mosaic of slender rock columns with different height-to-width(H/W)ratios.Revealing the correlation of the mechanical behavior of individual rock columns with internal factors(H/W ratio and material strength)and external factor(lateral pressure)is fundamental to understanding the deterioration of CJRM.We adopt a numerical scheme that combines a statistical meso-damage constitutive model with a finite element formulation based on finite deformation, which can simultaneously consider both material failure and structural instability of the rock columns.Compression tests of rock columns with different H/W ratios and material strengths under varying lateral pressures were conducted to analyze the macro-strength features and failure modes. The numerical results show that increasing the material strength can improve the macro-strength,while the effect of H/W ratio is the opposite. Both increases can promote the conversion of failure modes, and the evolution process is as follows:material failure-induced structural instability→synergy and competition between material failure and structural instability→structural instability-induced material failure.Notably, for the last failure mode,an increase in lateral pressure decreases the macro-strength of the rock column and heightens its instability risk. This finding provides new insights into the response of rocks with different H/W ratios under lateral pressure, extending beyond traditional material-based perspectives.According to the position of the failure mode demarcation line, the failure mode of the rock column can be regulated.

文摘Concrete material model plays an important role in numerical predictions of its dynamic responses subjected to projectile impact and charge explosion.Current concrete material models could be distinguished into two kinds,i.e.,the hydro-elastoplastic-damage model with independent equation of state and the cap-elastoplastic-damage model with continuous cap surface. The essential differences between the two kind models are vital for researchers to choose an appropriate kind of concrete material model for their concerned problems, while existing studies have contradictory conclusions. To resolve this issue, the constitutive theories of the two kinds of models are firstly overviewed. Then, the constitutive theories between the two kinds of models are comprehensively compared and the main similarities and differences are clarified, which are demonstrated by single element numerical examples. Finally, numerical predictions for projectile penetration and charge explosion experiments on concrete targets are compared to further demonstrate the conclusion made by constitutive comparison. It is found that both the two kind models could be used to simulate the dynamic responses of concrete under projectile impact and blast loadings,if the parameter needed in material models are well calibrated, although some discrepancies between them may exist.
