The magnetic properties of Cu/Fe/SiO2/Si grown by dc magnetron sputtering were investigated. The in-plane uniaxial magnetic anisotropy was probed by the magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE). The value of UMA, Ku = 2.5 x 103 J/m3, was simulated from the field dependence of ac susceptibility along the hard axis according to the Stoner-Wohlfarth (S-W) model, which is consistent with Ku = 2.7~ 103 J/m3 calculated from the magnetic hysteresis loops. Our results show that the magneto-optical Kerr effect susceptometry can be employed to determine the magnetic anisotropy constant owing to its high sensitivity.展开更多

The expressions of the optical forces concerned with the Kerr effect, which affects the refractive index of the medium, are presented. The distribution of the optical forces in the trapping region is simulated and discussed. The results show that the stability of the tweezers depends on the nonlinear coefficient of refractive index, and the optical tweezers could be broken down with a critical value of the nonlinear coefficient of refractive index of the surrounding medium, or with a critical value of the laser intensity, duration of laser pulse, and radius of beam waist. Moreover, these results give us the explanation the stability of the optical tweezers used for the trapped object as biological molecule embedded in the fluid, which is sensitive with Kerr effect.展开更多

Through changing the thickness of Co films and the lattice of voids, different optical modes were introduced. For a very shallow array of voids, the resonant MOKE was induced by Ag plasma edge resonance, for deeper ones, hybrid plasma modes, such as void plasmons in the voids, surface lattice plasmons between the voids, and the co-action of them, etc. resulted in resonant MOKE. We found that resonant MOKE resulted from the void plasmons resonance which possesses the narrowest bandwidth for the lowest absorption of voids. The simulated electromagnetic field(EF) distribution consolidated different effects of these three optical modes on resonant MOKE modulation. Such resonant polar MOKE possesses high sensitivity, which might pave the way to on-chip MO devices.展开更多

The reflection minima are found to be located at the same wavelengths as the Kerr rotation peaks. The Kerr rotation enhancement is attributed to the excitation of both the surface plasmon polariton in the dielectric PSS/metal interface and the guide waves (guide mode) in the PSS array. The two-dimensional PSSs/SiO2/FePt system exhibiting a tunable magneto-optical Kerr effect and a high perpendicular magnetic anisotropy will be helpful for designing and fabricating magneto-optics devices.展开更多

Owing to the competition between domain wall pinning energy and weak uniaxial magnetic anisotropy, the typical magnetization reversal process of Fe ultrathin film can take place via either an "l-jump" process near the easy axis, or a "2-jump" process near the hard axis, depending on the applied field orientation. Besides, the hysteresis loop presents strong asymmetry resulting from the variation of the detected light intensity due to the quadratic magneto-optic effect. Furthermore, we modify the detectable light intensity formula and simulate the hysteresis loops of the Kerr signal. The results show that they are in good agreement with the experimental data.展开更多

It is observed that the Stark and Kerr effects play a prominent role during the time evolution of the quantum system. The evolving quantum Fisher information (QFI) is noted as time grows under the non-linear Kerr medium contrary to the QE for higher dimensional systems. The effect of non-linear Kerr medium is greater on the QE as we increase the value of Kerr parameter. However, QFI and QE maintain their periodic nature under atomic motion. On the other hand, linear Kerr medium has no prominent effects on the dynamics of N-level atomic system. Recent evidence shows that strain-mediated magnetostrictive coupling provides an effective pathway for modulating magnonic excitation through quantum interference. Nevertheless, the microscopic origins of magnetocrystalline anisotropy in manipulating magnon excitation pathways, particularly regarding magnonic Kerr nonlinearity and crystal direction constraints, require further investigation. In this study, we construct a dual-frequency driven magnomechanical model based on yttrium iron garnet(YIG) spheres. By introducing a Hamiltonian with the magnonic Kerr nonlinear term, we combine the Heisenberg–Langevin equations and the mean field approximation to analytically solve for the driving efficiency η, and we base our analysis on experimental parameters to evaluate the impacts of the magnonic Kerr coefficient(K), driving field(B_1) and YIG size. The results show that the magnetocrystalline anisotropy induces a MHz-scale frequency shift, splitting the transmission spectrum from a Lorentzian line shape into asymmetric Fano resonance double peaks. The orientation of the external magnetic field(aligned with the [100] or [110] crystallographic axis) allows precise control over the sign of the magnonic Kerr coefficient K, thereby enabling a reversal in the direction of the frequency shift. A strong driving field B_1 not only enables controllable switching of the state but also adjusts the switching bandwidth. Furthermore, we show the transition of the dynamical response mechanism of the excitation efficiency spectrum with varying YIG sphere sizes. The study shows the dynamic control mechanism of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy on magnon switching and provides a theoretical foundation for size optimization and nonlinear energy manipulation in spintronic device design.展开更多

To have a complete picture of the bistability phenomenon, we analyze two different cases in driving the cavity magnonics system, i.e.,directly pumping the YIG sphere and the cavity, respectively. In both cases, the magnon frequency shifts due to the Kerr effect exhibit a similar bistable behavior but the corresponding critical powers are different. Moreover, we show how the bistability of the system can be demonstrated using the transmission spectrum of the cavity. The optical constants, the complex dielectric func-tion and magneto-optical Kerr parameters were measured at room temperature. For the samples hav-ing low Co compositions, the strong Kerr effect enhancement is observed around the Ag plasma edge. With an increase in annealing temperature, the resonance-like peaks appear in the Kerr rotation, and the peak positions are shifted toward the low photon energy region. From the analysis of the numerical calculations, it is concluded that the magneto-optical Kerr effect enhancement (MOKE) is due to the presence of the steep plasma edge.展开更多

文摘A high-sensitivity DC magneto-optical Kerr effect(MOKE)apparatus is described in this Letter.Via detailed analysis on several dominatingnoise sources,we have proposed solutions that significantly lower the MOKE noise, and a sensitivity of 1.5×10^(-7)rad/√Hz is achieved with long-term stability. The sensitivity of the apparatus is tested by measuring a wedgeshaped Ni thin film on SiO_(2)with Ni thickness varying from 0 to 3 nm.A noise floor of 1.5×10^(-8)rad is demonstrated. The possibility of further improving sensitivity to 10^(-9)rad via applying AC modulation is also discussed.

文摘A method for local magneto-optical Kerr effect imaging based on a home-made scanning near-field optical microscope working in reflection mode is presented. Shear force detection is carried out by using a symmetric piezoelectric bimorph sensor, which provides an easy way not only for probe-surface distance control but also for imaging. Polarization-preserving fiber probes used as a local optical detector are fabricated with a heating-pulling technique and the probes' polarization properties are measured. Shear force topographic and near-field magneto-optical images of magueto-optical disk taken with the proposed method are shown.

文摘We develop a theory for the magnon Kerr effect in a cavity magnonics system, consisting of magnons in a small yttrium iron garnet(YIG) sphere strongly coupled to cavity photons, and use it to study the bistability in this hybrid system. Our results are valid in a wide parameter regime and generalize the theory of bistability in a cavity magnonics system.

文摘The imaging theory of Raman induced Kerr effect spectroscopy (RIKES) in nonlinear confocal microscopy is presented in this paper. Three-dimensional point spread function (3D-PSF) of RIKES nonlinear confocal microscopy in isotropic media is derived with Fourier imaging theory and RIKES theory. The impact of nonlinear property of RIKES on the spatial resolution and imaging properties of confocal microscopy have been analyzed in detail. It is proved that RIKES nonlinear confocal microscopy can simultaneously provide more information than two-photon confocal microscopy concerning molecular vibration mode, vibration orientation and optically induced molecular reorientation, etc. It is shown that RIKES nonlinear confocal microscopy significantly enhances the spatial resolution and imaging quality of confocal microscopy and achieves much higher resolution than that of two-photon confocal microscopy.
文摘A series of CoxAg1-x nanostructured granular films have been prepared by ion beam sputtering and annealed at 100, 250, 400, 5001. From the analysis of the numerical calculations, it is concluded that the magneto-optical Kerr effect enhancement (MOKE) is due to the presence of the steep plasma edge.
